@name1109 ugh, sorry you guys are having such a hard time with names. I think all those you listed are really pretty! If I had to choose between Aubrey and Audrey I would be on your side and choose Audrey because I feel like it’s stronger and less common these days compared to Aubrey.
We are still at a standstill for names. As in DH won't discuss it. I get SO impatient and just love to have the baby named so I can start feeling more connected. I've taken to asking him once a week. He's got to cave at some point.
I think there is some story about Audrey Hepburn an actress from the 1940-60s(?) who was told wear a skirt and no pants. So she just didn’t wear a skirt or pants. I kind of love that fiery attitude. How awesome is Audrey!
We found out we are having a girl this past week! The only girl name we have discussed is Margaret Olivia, with the NN Maggie and/or Mo. I found out that DH’s Momi’s middle name is Margarete which is the German form of Margaret! I’m concerned Olivia is suddenly super popular but it’s only the middle name so...does that matter?

@lovelee3 I like the flow of that name! Even being so popular, I think It’s perfect as the middle name!
We were pretty set on Aria Lane for our baby girl, but one of my husbands aunts brought up the spelling of Lane and that got us thinking...do we keep it ‘plain’, or sass it up? I’m not one for these obscure spellings ordinarily, but as the middle name, I kinda like it spelled Laine now. Feels a touch more feminine, and it looks more uniform when written...maybe? Thoughts?! I mean we have 4ish months to nail this down sooo....
@mama-buckets I love Lane (I’m personally a fan of basic / traditional / boring / plain spellings 😂) I think Laine is perfect to femme it up without being too extra and made up (please don’t add unnecessary y’s or I’ll side eye you) 😂
Also funny enough I made this PSA on my FB in 2016 when my friend from HS was having twin boys and got big mad when I called her out for naming them “beaux” and “Arreaux”
There was a great post YEARS ago on TB Names group all about crazy spelling and making up names and I remember thinking that I'd never identified with something so much in my life. Haha. The N14 board was BRUTAL for letting ladies have it with fake names. In a loving way of course ;-)
That being said, I agree, Laine is totally fine and doesn't ring as made up.
@Ecat504@crizz13 Oh perfect!! Thank you for yalls input! haha and yes! I’m keeping away from seasoning her name with ‘Ys’ for sure — drives me NUTS. Like I too want to have a sorta unique name for my kid, but not THAT yooneek 😂😂
@mama-buckets IMO I prefer Lane, but Laine isn't too over the top if you like that better. I REALLY dislike "Layne" though (I just looked up spelling variations of Lane and all three: Lane, Layne, & Laine came up.
I HATE all the "x" in place of "ck" and unnecessary "y" ridiculous spellings. My SDs middle name is Margarrette and I secretly hate how they spelled it 🤦🏻 I also have a nephew named Jaxon 😑
Then there's DDs name (which obviously I love or I wouldn't have chosen it): Talulla, which is very uncommon yet still a traditional Irish name (Talulla & Talullah are the two Irish spellings, there are other variations that are traditionally native America interestingly enough).

@Ecat504 and @mama-buckets thanks for y’all’s input! I really like the flow too. Even though it’s a lot of syllables, it rings nicely I think!
I like Laine better than Lane for the femininity aspect. Also, I like a little uniqueness but nothing too crazy. My first name is spelled the uncommon way and I really enjoy (still to this day) when people call attention to it.

@lurvleybunchococonuts a friend from HS has a son named Jaxson and I’m just like “you have an extra letter in your made up spelling!”
@mama-buckets I think Laine is fine! It differentiates it from the street lane.
My name isn’t spelled traditionally and I hate it. No one spells it correctly, at Starbucks I just say “yep” to however they guess it’s spelled. While my lovely grandmother in law was alive she spelled it differently on every single birthday card she gave me 😂. It’s kind of a burden.
@mama-buckets Lane or Laine; both are nice. I am pretty traditional about spelling, I used to be a teacher in a past life, and like things to be simple when possible, but absolutely nothing strange about adding an "i".
DH has a complicated, ethnic name that nobody can figure out how to pronounce or spell. I like names that are unusual (especially his name, it's actually always been a favorite of mine), but he wants our child's name to be normal enough that other people won't be like "huh" every time he says it. FTR, DH has to give another name when he makes a reservation or even an appointment at his barber.
We are having so much trouble with names. We love a traditional Irish girls first name but I am worried no one will be able to pronounce it. I have a semi-common (now) name but people constantly pronounce it incorrectly even though it is spelled pretty much how it is said. Some people continue to call me it the "other way" even after being corrected. I tend to just let it go after awhile.
@windywoman what name(s) are you worried people won't be able to pronounce? I personally believe people that intentional mispronounce names after being corrected, are just being intentionally lazy.

@lurvleybunchococonuts Saoirse. It was in our top three for girls names with DS. I have a friend from my A18 group who used it for her little girl. She is from Ireland. I loveit but, I just worry about no one being able to say it correctly.
@windywoman I agree with @lurvleybunchococonuts regarding people purposefully mispronouncing names. 🙄 What are the names you’re worried about? My sister’s fiancé is Irish and they are getting ready to move to Ireland in September. She’s discussed a few traditional baby names that they have picked (they’re planning on TTC right after getting married next year) and I don’t find any of the names she mentioned difficult to pronounce from the spellings.
I think people are going to mispronounce names no matter what. I have a Lila (lie-la) and Anna (ann- nuh) and they will occasionally get Lee-la and Ah-nuh (thanks Frozen).
I love Saoirse and say go for it! I am partial to traditional Irish names and so wish DH could have been on board.
@windywoman +1 team go for it! I did have to look up the correct pronunciation, but only because I'm not familiar with the name, now I know and that's beautiful 😍 I really like it!
And that is so not a hard to pronounce name! Anyone who has been told the correct pronunciation and still gets it wrong after is being willfully ignorant.
My MIL HATED Talulla's name at first simply because it was uncommon and went as far as referring to her as "Tulsa, Toledo, and whatever her name is". My MIL is kind of a notorious PITA though so... 🤦🏻😑🙄

Naming this baby might be the single most frustrating thing I’ve ever had to do! He’s baby number 3 and it was so easy with the first two. We have changed the name twice now and I just decided I don’t like the name we decided on bc a) it’s suddenly so popular I can’t deal and b) I’m not a fan of matching consonant sound names.
we have Stella Carter and Henry Randolph (he goes by Huck)
this little baby boy was Richard Davis, then Hudson Davis, but now I’m really into the sound of Bridger Davis.
i realize it’s unusual - but DH suggested Bridger and it took me by surprise and the more I said it the more I fell in love.
we will see what I think in 2 days. Ugh.
hoping Bridger Davis is it though!

I've wanted to name a baby boy after my grandfather my whole adult life, and now that I have the chance, im second guessing myself. Is Warren too dated? It would likely be Warren Alexander (hub's name) or Warren Kent (a combo of hub's grandparents names).
@crystalmir91385 I think Warren is a really cute name and extra special if he's named after your grandpa. A friend of mine had a baby last fall and named him Warren.

It seems like a lot of the older names are coming back in fashion now too. DH and I decided we want to do family names, so our boy is going to be John William (his grandpa and my dad and grandpa's middle name). They're a little more popular, but still old! I would love to use a longer name like Alexander... but our last name is already 11 letters long and a crazy Ukranian name that noone can spell, so we wanted to go with a short simple first name! lol
Picking a name for baby girl has been the hardest part of the pregnancy thus far. However we finally picked a name and are glad to be done searching. We’re going with Morgan Avery
@crystalmir91385 I like the name Warren! I dont think it sounds dated at all!
We had a horrible time picking names for DS. We were team green and finding both boy and girl names that we liked made my head hurt. It was so freaking hard! I finally started looking at names a week ago when we found out we were having a girl this time and I'm like.. dead set on naming this baby Scarlett. I cant get past the name. Every other name I've looked at doesn't sound right to me. I LOVE Scarlett Marie but DH dated a Marie so he might tell me no 🙄 but he likes the name Scarlett so step 1.
@dumbledoredies I think Scarlett Marie is super cute and has a really nice flow to it! I can see why your husband might not love the middle name but I'll send you postive vibes that he'll consider 😉 We've just started thinking seriously about names and as many of you have said, it's so hard!! Our criteria is that it has to sound normal/easy to pronounce in both English and Norwegian😩 we think we've decided on the name Mariell as baby girls first name but all the middle names we've come up with i start second guessing if they actually sound good with the first name. I thought maybe I could get some help here (only worry about English of course 😜) also, our last name is 1 syllable. Some middle name thoughts: Sofia Johanna (after a great grandma) Emma (after a grandma) Alice (after a grandma) Louise (my middle name and i really like but i think with the combo it would end up sounding like Mari Eloise🙄) I'd welcome any more ideas you guys might have. Most of the names i put out happened to be grandmas names but the middle name doesnt have to be.
