Re: ~~November Randoms~~

  • Just went to pick up my Clomid prescription from the pharmacy and the tech had to call the pharmacist over who said ”It says here that you have PCOS, does your doctor know this?” ...yes, that’s why it was prescribed. The pharmacist replied “Well it’s not usually prescribed for that so we just have to make sure.” I’m confused what other reason you would be prescribed Clomid unless it’s to assist with ovulation?? Perhaps they are confused.

  • @dogmomma096 It is stunning how many people have no clue about the ins and outs of PCOS. I'm sorry you had to deal with that!

  • @dogmomma096 I had a similar experience with my Estrace.  The pharmacist was confused because it's an oral med but my RE wanted me to take it vaginally (which is common).  It took them 2 days to fill the script because they couldn't figure it out.  The really funny thing in MH had to pick it up and they made him talk to the pharmacist to make sure he understood how I had to take it.

  • Also many states offer mail in voting,  I've always done that in MT and MN.  I know Oregon does only mail and i believe one of state but i can't remember.
  • @riff323 I just had a conversation with a coworker about that show this morning. She said the first four episodes were the best  out of the bunch and then it got really predictable. They forced themselves through the last few episodes just to be done with it. After my conversation with her I am giving it a pass sadly.
  • @riff323 @nitnat007 I absolutely loved that show. It is probably my new favorite Netflix original series. I thought the character development and dialogue was great. Granted a few characters were seriously annoying sometimes, I thought they did a great job getting you invested in their stories. I didn't find it that predictable, but I also didn't think too critically about it I guess. And the score/soundtrack selection was on point.
  • @dogmomma096 I only took letrozole (femara) and one time when i picked it up they made me wait for the pharmacist, who was on break, for 15 minutes so he could ask me repeatedly and emphatically if I was pregnant. "Are you sure?! You're sure you're not pregnant." Yeah dude that's kinda the point.

  • regarding the RE thread, I don't think that it is a problem at all if you want to ask questions on the IF thread about seeing and RE, testing, what to expect etc. I know a lot of us who post there only look at the IF thread and don't typically read the WTO/TWW so you may be missing out on getting advice/support from some great (and sadly very experienced) ladies. We all had to start somewhere. I know there was a dedicated thread a while back about 1st RE appointments/questions/what to expect.   In the past, if we make a big board change there is a separate post about it for a full discussion. kind of like they did when the GTKY was taken out of the WTO/TWW dailies.

As for voting, I believe that it varies state to state as to if there is a allotment for time off to vote. some have set time limits, like you're given 2 hrs paid, others give you the time, but it is unpaid, some states have no provisions at all.

@dogmomma096 was it a CVS, I had a friend who went toe to toe with a CVS pharmacist several months in a row she had PCOS and was prescribed Clomid, she was so frustrated, it was the same experience month after month.

    @kiki047 congratulations!!

"Some days are diamonds, some days are rocks,
some doors are open, some roads are blocked"

  • @Avrilmai It was a CVS! I wonder if it’s somehow flagged in their system. The tech at first was confused and thought PCOS was a medication I was taking. She literally asked if I was still taking polycystic ovarian... then stopped talking.
  • @lillywonderland I’m strictly no Christmas till after thanksgiving, but I do love a good/crappy Christmas movie. I watched one last weekend 🤣 which one did you watch?!
  • @b_1029 I watched the Netflix one “The Holiday Calendar”.  Sometimes the acting makes me cringe and the plot is waaaaaaay too predictable, but I still watch them! I’m prolly gonna watch “The Christmas Inheritance” next (also on Netflix) - I’ll keep you updated!
  • @lillywonderland that’s the one I watched last weekend! Christmas Inheritance is cute. MH doesn’t understand my random moods for sappy Christmas movies (I think I watched Christmas inheritance over the summer haha) but 🤷🏼‍♀️
  • @b_1029 Bahahahahah, too funny! I really enjoyed the one last year that Netflix had about the Prince and the tutor. But I’m also a hardcore Anglophile and am super into anything *Royal*. Lol!
  • The first one was laughable. Like, 6dpo and you think you can turn a test? Do you even know how your body works?
  • @lillywonderland @chichiphin not to mention, there's LITERALLY nothing there. Go away. lol
  • @chichiphin, @b_1029 Oh, but she needed to show us like 6 tests just to be sure.
  • I'm really tempted to tell those types of people to go post on the Baby Center boards. Posts like that are allllll over those boards. And honestly, 99% of the time when they're like "I think I see something", it looks stark white where the 2nd like would be to me. Now, I've never seen a BFP with my own eyes since I'm trying for baby #1, but I definitely know. BFN when I see one.

  • OMG, I can't anymore. What's with all the rapid fire one offs today? Troll? Did TB increase their advertising and everyone just found out about it?
  • It seems to come in waves. I don't remember how long ago it was, but there was another day we had 2-3 one-off and inappropriate posts.

Doesn't help that I have anxiety over the upcoming holidays and with AF days away (haven't tested yet, too scared).

    Stay strong ladies!

  • I was thinking out the same thing this morning. Boards definitely have personalities, right??
  • @tamalahoops letrozole is primarily prescribed for postmenopausal women with breast cancer. I'm a pharmacist in nz and to be fair I went to some lectures about fertility and fertility drugs (before I was trying) as I was curious but I don't think it's generally taught. Not sure why they were confused about clomid @dogmomma096 as that is the only thing it is used for.
  • @lokibear89 oh I know why they asked. And the first time I was like oh yeah no not pregnant thanks for asking. But the fact that he asked multiple times over and over again is what pissed me off.

  • @tamalahoops the first time is a teaching then he should have just looked it up.
  • @riff323 I've heard that it's really really good but also really sad. I haven't watched it though because idk if I want to be sad and I'm super impressionable about what I watch/allow into my psyche if that makes sense. Let me know what you think if you watch more of it.

@b_1029 yes TB's been acting weird all day for me too!

I'll come back to post my proposal story later (because it's a goodie, tbh) but in the meantime some of us over in WTO were discussing starting a monthly RE Support Thread. I don't know how these things work but do we need to vote on it? Any suggestions/comments on what  should be included in the intro?

I was thinking something that could be a mix of what's included in the IF/TTCAL/daily threads like:

    Cycle/Month:
    Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):
    Date of first/next appointment?:
How are things going? What is something that you are struggling with this week? What is going well for you this week? R/R?:
    Any questions?:

    Opening this up to feedback!

I'm with @Avrilmai on this.  We have the IF thread and the ladies that post there are incredibly knowledgeable.  What you describe here is pretty much exactly what the IF thread is for.  I know that a first RE appointment can be scary, but please please please use the IF thread to ask any questions you may have about testing.  Please use the knowledge that we have garnered through our collective experiences, we were all in your shoes at one time and are always more than happy to help.
