  • @thebobloblaw I know exactly how you feel. When I travel for work, the first night is GLORIOUS and every night after that feels a bit off. But try to enjoy it, everyone at home is fine and you'll be home soon and maybe even wishing for more time away ;)

  • @bluesky24 what genre do you like?

  • @nopegoat I love it!  We used to have laying hens when we still had our acreage.  DH and the girls can’t wait to get some again one day

If you like WW2 stuff, I LOVED The Plum Tree by Ellen Marie Wiseman, The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, and Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys.
If you want medical depressing AF, Every Note Played by Lisa Genova was amazing (fiction) and When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi (autobiography)
If you want thrillers, Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris, Into the Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes.
I also love anything and everything by Liane Moriarty

  • @DuchessOfCambridge thank you!! Did you read Kristin Hannah's latest, The Great Alone? I really loved it. As depressing as it was, When Breath Becomes Air was so beautiful. Also love Moriarty! I'll look up your other picks.

You and @DuchessOfCambridge how do you even have time to read?!!

  • @expandcontract @DuchessOfCambridge haha! I don't, really. A book sits on my nightstand and I attempt 15 mins or so before bed every night. In truth, I love to read and stopped after DD was born in 2016. It was just another thing I let go of that made me "me" - so I make every effort now. I know I'll run out of time as this new LO arrives but trying to stick with it as long as I can.

  • @bluesky24 I haven't but I will have to do that! @expandcontract once DS started sleeping through the night I've been able to get books in before bed. I've not done it as much since getting pregnant, though. I listen to a lot of audiobooks now as well. I really love reading so I try to make it a priority which helps!

@poshspice Thank you! I didn’t think about them possibly not being in network anymore. *TW?* I just went in July for my miscarriage *end TW*, and it was all normal, so I would think it’s fine. My husband upgraded our policy (his insurance through work is better coverage than what mine is), so I’m hoping we will be able to avoid any out of pocket expenses until afterwards. Do you think it’s possible that my OB office will just wait and resubmit it in January, or does it not usually work that way?
@megsb615 I have no idea. I work on the broker side of insurance and have no idea how medical office billing works. I’d give the provider’s billing  department a call and ask them to explain.

  • Woke up this morning all congested. I knew this was coming as my throat has been sore for the last two days. Oh and my left ear aches. I hate not being able to take anything. I broke out the netti pot and hopefully that helps.

  • I had my first dream about the baby last night.  It was a boy and I kept forgetting where I put him, and then frantically trying to find him.
  • I chose the wrong outfit today. I feel like a stuffed sausage and keep having to unbutton my pants. Shhh. Don't tell.
  • @bluesky24 All the Light We Cannot See is a very very good book.

@bluesky24 I just read White Chrysanthemum by Mary Lynn Bracht, it’s heavy subject matter about **TW**the Korean women forced to work as comfort women for the Chinese army during WWII**/TW**. I cried. It’s well written and a good story though.
I also recently read Jurassic Park and in general I like Michael Crichton’s work, I recommend him if you like a blend of science and fiction.
  • So I finally called my OB.
I started seeing spots today for no reason.  Which is what happened with my son when I was diabetic.  It got so bad I had to drink some apole juice. I'm lucky my husband left his wallet at home and came back for ot because I almost passed out.

Waiting for my OB to call me back. Really feeling shitty today.

  • DS is just getting over a cold. Now DH caught it and snored all night. I'm so tired and now I feel like I'm catching it. Fingers crossed it's just a random sore throat.

@psychobutthead that's scary! I hope you get some answers and relief soon
  • My husband decided to get in bed last night with the loudest fucking bag of chips ever. Then HE was annoyed with ME when I woke up irritated by the noise. 🙄 Then I had a nightmare what felt like the whole night. And woke up to his stupid alarm clock 10 times before mine went off. And who doesn't turn the handle when they close the door so it isn't loud af? I feel so bad for him because literally everything he's doing is driving me crazy.
  • @fatmonica and @eatingwatermelonseeds I had a dream last week it was a boy too. Isn’t the old wives tale that you supposedly will have the opposite of what you dream? I’m so curious to find out!

@psychobutthead That’s scary. I hope everything’s ok, and you feel better!

Well, DS has had a runny nose the last few days and a bad cough, and last night he wouldn’t let me put him in his crib and was running a low fever, so I just put him in bed with us since I knew he didn’t feel good. He tossed and turned all night and ran a low fever this morning, so husband took him to the doctor. Turns out he has an ear infection and a touch of bronchitis. Like, where did this even come from? He was fine at the beach, and now seemingly out of no where he has an ear infection and bronchitis?! He’s got antibiotics, so hopefully he’ll be fine, but now I’m just worried about him. Oh and we stopped by to see my SIL’s 1 month old on Monday, so now I’m stressed about him being around her, not that he even paid her much attention. Damn germs. 😷
  • @megsb615 I've heard that too! It was true with DS. I dreamt of so many girls. I'll know in 5 weeks! 😬
  • The kids at my school are driving me nuts today. I've noticed that I don't have nearly as much patience lately as I usually do.

  • @k2k2tog this! My kids aware DRIVING ME INSANE! We have a “chill chair” which is basically like putting a kid in timeout, without calling it that. I have used it 23 times today already, one student has gone 3 times in his own, which is a note home about behavior. 😑 I’m done already.

yes! loved this one, truly one of the best books I've read in a while. And thanks for the reco, @stringofhearts!

@fatmonica that's my recurring baby dream too, that I am somehow incapable of taking care of the baby. I had it all the time during my last pregnancy, I'm sure it's coming this time, too! It's always a strange one to wake up from.
@eatinwatermelonseeds my DH is driving me crazy too, though he doesn't REALLY deserve it #solidarity.

  • I love to read! I read until my Kindle falls on my face every night in bed. Right now on my TBR: Bird Box, Small Great Things, and The Girl with All the Gifts. If you enjoy horror and you want a book that'll singe your nuts off I recommend Hex. The ending cut me deep and I felt it for months afterwards. I may re-read it for the Halloween season.
  • @megsb615 I heard that wives tale as well. It wasn't true with DS but I still find things like that interesting. Also, hope your little guy feels better soon!

@eatinwatermelonseeds I would lose it if DH did that. The sound of chip bags drives me crazy! Let alone when you are trying to sleep!

@megsb615 I don't think they will be able to hold it for the new insurance.  If your provider does billing correctly,   they would choose one of the following.
    "Antepartum care only; 4-6 visits"
"Antepartum care only; 7 or more visits" And then next year,  with the different policy,  they would choose something like this
    Delivery only" or
    "Delivery only, including postpartum care"

They wouldn't be able to bill "antepartum, deliver,  and postpartum care" to your new insurance next year,  because that would get rejected from the insurance.
I hope that helps you understand.

  • @ibanezstarburst Thank you! I know it’s a 50/50 shot, but I think it’s interesting too. I guess we prob won’t do dna testing (unless they find a reason to), so we’ll be waiting a while 😬
  • @expandcontract Thank you. Yeah, that makes sense. So it looks like I won’t get out of paying the deductible even with having the new policy. Ugh I guess I’ll talk to them more next week when I have my appointment.

I dreamed my son was a girl.  Then we paid for an elective ultrasound at 15 weeks and saw a peen. We were surprised.  Apparently dh had dreams of a girl too.

This baby though no dreams about.

  • @DuchessOfCambridge so funny you mention the Plum Tree. I actually know that author IRL. I have been reading all fluff lately. (Think the books that are left in the “little libraries” around town). I can’t even recommend them because I haven’t enjoyed them. I think I need to go to the real library.
