@nda_roxybabe we call this little one baby "I-ooo-ga" (DD loves the song baby beluga) and DD was "olive". Her great-grandmother, whom she is named for, coined that one since the baby was as big as an olive when we told her the news.
Yes to Sudafed, the little red 4 to 6 hour ones. Also yes to the neti pot / saline spray idea. I use the orange bottled Arm & Hammer saline mist and tip my head forward over the sink and tilted to the side and it all just runs out the other nostril. Gross but effective.
I'm currently doing the 24 hour urine catch. It's so gross. I just hate doing this. I hope I don't have pre-e this time! They wanted me to do it now to get a baseline for my numbers.
Another vote to ask your doc about sudafed and meds. I was miserable at my last appointment and mine told me no sudafed. However he also said "its weird telling moms no sudafed since it was ok for so many years" so I'm not sure what to make of that
@bacorrea - Ugh, I had to do a 24-hr catch a few weeks ago. I'm a nurse, and even I was grossed out about keeping a jug of urine in my fridge. Plus, we don't have a bathroom on our main floor, so I was always worried I would spill my cup of pee!
@jayandaplus I don't know if it's full on RLP, but every once in a while, I do feel a pressure as I empty a full bladder. It kind of just feels like my muscles tightening and then relaxing.
For all of you contemplating a double stroller, I highly highly suggest you look into the Joovy Caboose Too ultralight. It's on the less expensive side of double strollers and DD1 was very much like your toddler/preschoolers when DD2 came along and some days liked the stroller but most days didn't. The Joovy is lightweight and was no bigger than my single jogging stroller (if not smaller when folded). It had a regular seat in the front that has a car seat attachment and the back can either be a seat or you can detach it and it's a sit n stand with a little bench. It's the perfect size and doesn't feel too big at all when your just pushing one baby around! It was nice to have that little extra space just in case DD1 wanted it, and honestly more times than not she asks to sit too. @chickyclg I've even seen a twin mom use it with new baby in the front and her twins shared the bench/stand in the back!
@h&pmomma you're the only person I've ever heard a good review about the stroller from! Everything I've read/people I talk to complain about manuvering the stroller.
@jayandaplus yes!! I've had this pain for weeks now, I've had 2 drs appts and neither time has been a UTI. They do a check every appt. With that said I would still check with your dr, but just know that it is possible.
It's mainly first thing in the morning when I have a very full bladder. The rest of the day I go more often so it doesn't cause that pain.

Really?!? I've never had a problem maneuvering it, I can even do it one handed! I have the Ultraligjt though, I think the older model was the one that got so many bad reviews. I'm super OCD when it comes to receiving the "big item" before I buy it so I probably reviewed this one for at least 2 months and found a store that had a floor model that I could see in person!

@BeachMommy2B Yes! It's always my first pee (or the pee that interrupts me in the middle of the night). I've had plenty of UTIs, sadly, so I know it's not that. Glad I'm not alone!
I just have to complain - I am STILL getting headaches all. The. Time. I'm prone to headaches in the first place and the weather here has been absolutely insane, so I can't blame them 100% on baby girl but I'm so over them. I just took an Excedrin tension headache which I'm sure I'll regret when it's 2am and I'm wired. Sorry, I feel like all I've done is complain about symptoms when I'm here lately!
@ShadeofGreen816 I hear you! It's the worst! I've had a pretty daily headache with a weekly or so migraine. It's not fun on top of everything else that hurts and is uncomfortable. Have you tried other things for your headache? Water, stretching (get the tension out of your muscles), a cup of coffee, a nap, essential oils, etc.?

I have tried a ton of things - today for example I think I've had 80ish oz of water, did peppermint oil on my temples, came home from my clinical and laid down with peppermint oil in the diffuser, had a snack, had dinner. I had a root beer with lunch wondering if a little sugar might do the tricks. Caffeine basically always helps but I don't drink coffee and just honestly don't keep soda in the house anymore. One Excedrin (the kind without aspirin) and one Tylenol seems to have taken the edge off so hopefully I can sleep it off! I'm sure the crazy Midwest weather lately (in the last 3 days it's been as high as 60 degrees and as low as the 20s with tons of rain and weird weather) is impacting me, as I'm usually affected by the weather anyway. Thanks for commiserating and for the good ideas!
Finally got my call back from my OB's office about my ultrasound. Turns out baby boy has an EIF on his heart and I'll need to schedule a secondary U/S to get a bether look. As far as I know there aren't any other abnormalities that we know of so just wondering if any of you have been through this and have some info/encouraging stories etc to share? I'm doing my best not to worry about it, but it's stressful nonetheless.
@OmegaRose3 no input but hopefully everything turns out to be just fine! I do think we had a few moms with similar findings but I don't remember for sure and it's too hard to search on mobile. Hopefully they'll pop in here with some encouragement soon! Fingers crossed that this will all be for nothing AND an excuse to see your little peanut an extra time . My only advice is to try not to worry since there's nothing that will accomplish! Easier said than done, I know
@ShadeofGreen816 Ugh, I'm sorry! I'm prone to headaches too and the were awful in 1st tri. They still get bad sometimes, but lucky not as frequent. Sounds like you're trying all my tricks so I've got nothing for you but sympathy.
@OmegaRose3, DD didn't have an EIF, but they did see a hole in her heart at our a/s. She didn't have any other markers. We ended up seeing a fetal echocardiologist for a level 2 ultrasound who said that it had either closed or was never there. She's now a healthy 3 year old. Sending T&Ps that everything is just fine for your babe. PM me if you'd like to chat more!

It has been such a crazy day/week... trying to catch up as I'm stuffing my face during my dinner break...
Re: double strollers... after tons of research I thought we were going with a side by side but after going to a store, MH was quite surprised and overwhelmed with its size. We have a Peg Perego book pop up for DS and decided to stick with the brand and go with the duette piroet (in line).
Re: passports... yes we, too, we're surprised at what's necessary to obtain one for a child.
@OmegaRose3 our ultrasound also revealed an EIF but all other soft markers and blood tests (NIPT and quad marker screening) were negative and low risk, respectively. I spoke with a genetic counselor to ease my mind and was told there would be more of a risk of losing the baby if we did an amnio vs the baby having Downs Syndrome. She was even surprised they told me about the finding and referred my chart to her.
@ShadeofGreen816 I'm so sorry about your head. Maybe one more thing to try - if the headache is originating from the base of your skull, try ice cubes in a ziplok freezer bag and lay down with the ice cubes directly across where your neck and skull meet. If it's on the top of your head or in your temples try a bag of frozen peas. I get chronic headaches and sometimes the ice is more effective than anything else. I hope you feel better soon!
@OmegaRose3 I don't have any advice, but I hope everything works out. It's worrying whenever things aren't exactly as expected. Big creepy Internet hugs.
I have been MIA lately, and I apologize for that- it's been crazy around here! I'm not feeling ambitious enough to tag, but here's my lame attempt to catch up:
I am also on the boogery head cold train. I've heard conflicting things about Sudafed, and am trying to go med free, but it's been rough. Saline spray has been alright, and Breath Right strips at night have been a life saver.
Re: double strollers- we found an awesome cyber Monday deal on a City Select by Baby Jogger + additional seat and car seat adapter. We've been using it as a single for now, and it's been great! I previously used a Graco jogging stroller, which I love. I'm not sure year if I'm going to keep it for jogging with one of the kiddos in the future or try to sell it. We'll see.
In other news, we put in an offer on a house on Sunday! It was a pretty low offer, and we haven't heard back, but it's our first one, so we're excited! They've been trying to sell since August of 2015, so we're hoping they are desperate enough to take it. Hopefully we can move before this kid arrives!

Thank you everyone for the support. Hopefully the next U/S will answer my questions and give me an idea of whether this is something that is minor or if we need to do more testing. @KMD1106 I'm on mobile and still trying to figure out how to navigate half of the time, bUT want to say thank you for being so kind!
Bah! I just came back from my MFM appointment and, while the appointment went really well (yay!), she decided that I need to do a 24 hour urine catch because they want to check for pre-e signs that way since so many other little things I'm dealing with could cause it to get overlooked. AND even though I passed my early glucose test last week (at 23 weeks), they want me to do another one next month because last time I had GD but it was super late onset...like 35 weeks. I know these are little hurdles in the grand scheme of growing a human, but it's just so annoying. Oh, AND she wants me to see a liver specialist (even though the 1,000,000 blood tests and liver ultrasound have come back clear for any other issue)...she's unconvinced that cholestasis is what's causing my bile levels to be high since it started at 19 weeks and that's much earlier than it typically shows up. Sigh...
@Kipperoo: Just think, in two days from now, all that urine-catch weirdness will be over and done with, a thing of the past. It's so awkward, I totally get it. The other tests and appointments, too, you're right: little hurdles, and you'll get over them easily.

Oh totally agreed! I'm just complaining because I'm annoyed, but I know I could be dealing with far worse. I just can't figure out how I'm going to do a 24 hour catch...sit at home for 24 hours? I'm certainly not carrying a jug of urine with me to and from the bathroom at my office...haha...can you imagine storing a jug of urine in a work fridge?!

Ugh, DS is almost a year and a half old and is sick for the first time. It feels horrible to see him suffering and that I can't take it away and make him feel better.
Edit: posted too soon. It started as a dry cough and then overnight it sounds like he's a bit congested in his chest. Luckily no nasal congestion (FX). When he coughs, he looks at me and rubs his throat while crying. As he's napping or sleeping, he wakes up so often (like 5-10 min) cries, drinks water and then lays back down. Poor baby. We have the humidifier going, we're giving him agave syrup for his throat, offering water every chance we can (tried putting honey in his water but he tasted that and pushed it away pretty quick)... any other suggestions to keep him comfortable?
