@AliKay20, this was our schedule with DS1 until about 8 weeks when he started sleeping from 10-6/7... I would do 7:00 feeding, then go to bed around 8:30. DH would stay up and do the 10/11 feeding. I did the 2:00 feeding and then the 6/7am feeding. This allowed me to get a good stretch from 8:30-2.
Before DH went back to work, he would do all the diaper changes, but once he was at work, I did diaper changes too.
I wouldn't stress about the schedule just yet, because a lot can change, sleep wise, over the next 5/6weeks!
With DD our routine was to do every other night. I'd get up one night and do the changes and feedings and DH would get up the next. It worked really well for us but we formula fed from the get go. I'm not sure how we will do it this time though.
So little man is 2 weeks old today. The last couple days it really hurts the first minute or so after he latches. Then it's fine like usual. Is this normal?

I have had some serious latch problems, as well. We even had a lactation consultant come to our home. She said that what you're describing his normal because of the "initial wear and tear" on the nipples, but if the pain continues throughout the feeding (which mine was), then that would indicate a problem.
Sounds to me like if it's only on the beginning, you should be fine. Expressing some milk or using cream on the nipple afterwards could help. Good luck!
Thanks @entropicallyfavored. I was going to call an LC Monday if it got worse, but hopefully it wont. I thought it might just be irritation, especially since my nipples get itchy during longer feedings. I'll make sure to use my nipple cream more often too.
@jacmkelley if I were you, I'd be worried about prolapse. Does your doc have a 24 hour nurse line? I'd try to get an appointment for Monday, at least.
That's kind of what I've been thinking. I'll definitely be calling and asking to get in. With all the issues I had during this pregnancy I have definitely made friends up there lol. I'm sure they will fit me in. The pain comes and goes, like after I posted that I laid in bed all day. And now the pain has mostly subsided but comes back a little when I pee. I have no clue what is going on!
Anyone else really appreciating not having to pee every 5 minutes? ! I'm still in shock when I seems to pee forever... I forgot what it's like to have a bladder!
I never imagined my boobs to hurt as bad as they do right now oh my gosh, it's almost unbearable. Anyone have any advice to relieve some of the pain? (Not breastfeeding btw)

With DD I wrapped ace wraps around my boobs and then wore a sports bra over them. I also froze cabbage and put that on my boobs too. I think someone said that helps with something but I don't remember what lol I did it anyway!!! And it felt good! But you could also just get ice packs too.
@BrunetteBabe722 have you tried a heating pad? Don't use ice, an LC told me that helps milk come down or something. I think. I was sleep deprived when she said it lol
I am not a BFing expert by any means so I could be wrong, but I think heat helps milk to come down and ice packs to alleviate pain, like chilled cabbage leaves to not BF.

Ok @BrunetteBabe722 just looked it up - warm for mothers who are BF it helps bring the milk down. Ice packs for non BF moms it helps with easing discomfort. I would grab ace bandages put on a sports bra and then plop some ice packs on your chest over that. I bet it helps!
You ladies are right. Now I remember her saying ice helps ease engorgment. She thought I was using the heating pad to help boob pain, so I remembered it backwards lol

Lol I googled it out of panic that taking a warm shower and heating pads are the opposite of what I should be doing lol!! We are tired I am sooo with you on that!
Thanks ladies @telicious2@jacmkelley@Stephanie7693 !!! I think the bra I was wearing was making it a lot worse, I put on a sports bra that covered more and it's helped a lot. I am going to try ice packs when it's not 2:00 am.
About a month into PP now and I am still wearing pantyliners (passed the bloody phase though but discharge still continues).
Still swollen but a lot less - esp. my feet. Energy level and ability to move around have increased but I noticed if I lay on my sides, I still feel like someone has kicked me down there really hard!
I just want to be okay enough to start swimming or establish a workout schedule I can follow. It'll be good for my sanity as well but I'm trying to be really patient to my body and let time play a role in recovery.
Anyone having complications from the catheter? I thought maybe I had a UTI because it didn't feel right when I was peeing, but test came back negative. I'm not having pain, just discomfort when I urinate. I'm 3 weeks pp.
@rikopy I'm also three weeks pp... I've been fighting a uti ever since delivery and am on my second round of antibiotics. The first time it actually spread to my kidneys and was awful. They said it was most likely from the catheter.
As a FTM I was completely unprepared for the pp emotional roller coaster. I had heard about "baby blues" but didn't realize this could entail crying at literally nothing at times. I wish more people talked about this. The lack of sleep definitely doesn't help. Hormones....
@rikopy it's worse for is with twins! We have so many more hormones! I too have had a couple crying spells where I literally cried for no reason. I also know that when I get on these spells I need about 2-3 hours of sleep and then I'm alright.
Also after 6 weeks of pretty much exclusively breastfeeding I got my period! So that hasn't helped either. I was really hoping to be a 6 monther not a 6 weeker!
@Lynnlove28 I thought I was going to throw up the first two nights because of how painful they were. They were really bad the first 3 days but now, they've basically stopped (6days postpartum), thank god!
Funny, I never really got the postpartum cramps with either baby. Not bragging; just marveling how everyone is so different. I did get ridiculous night sweats though.

I only got bad pp cramps with 1 of my 3. With baby 2 they were so bad I would cry while nursing, and at one point my dh had to stay home one morning and care for the kids because I literally couldn't move. Kids 1 and 3 there were cramps, but not nearly as bad as kid 2. So weird how it's so different for each baby too
@bananers Oh I get the night sweats too! I wake up just soaked. I think alot of had to do with how much saline I got in the hospital. My body finally decided it didn't need it all and about 10 days PP I just sweat like crazy for 2-3 nights.
34 Mother of 4 year old and 2 Labs. Happily Married to my Hubs of 6 years.
Struggles I forgot about from my last c section recovery: -how hard it is to move around -how bad it hurts to cough/laugh -how hard it is to get sleep in the hospital -my dignity being stripped away one huge diaper/pad at a time.
Apparently my internal vaginal wall was ripped to shreds and most of my stitching is internal. I never knew one could be in so much pain.
I am scared out of my mind for my first PP bowel movement. I haven't gone since Monday and it's now Friday. I'm drinking a lot of water and taking 100mg three times a day of the stool softener the hospital gave me. I haven't even had to urge to go yet, but then again I can't even control my bladder at this point (wearing depends 24/7 because of this). So maybe I just have no sensation in general down there yet?

Don't forget fiber. The hospital suggested juice to me. I had a 3rd degree tear w. internal stitches. Delivered on Tues, pooped on Fri. The poop wasn't bad (keep taking colace even after your first one, I can tell a difference if I skip). I'm 2 weeks PP and still have no sensation to pee though. That's what sux
@bsckgb7 I'm drinking the crap out of pineapple juice and getting lots of fruit in. Thanks for the reassurance that it isn't so bad. I think my lack of sleep and anxiety level is fairly high the last few days. The no sensation to pee thing is so weird../
