  • I waited until 3 months with my son, partly out of fear/ lack of desire, and partly because until that point we were all living in a studio and we were both weirded out by the idea of having sex with our baby in the room. Even waiting that long I still cried after the first time, from both physical pain and being a little emotionally overwhelmed. I second @lionstigersbears - lots of wine, foreplay, and lube, and if it is awful the first time just know it'll get better.
  • I'll be sure to not inform DH that it could be longer than 6 weeks (I'm still sore when I sit in certain positions at 3 weeks) - he might keel over lol! Seems like when we try "him time" the baby also cries at the perfect time. Welcome to parenthood, I guess!

Y'all, hate to jump from sex talk to this, but...

Omg this hemorrhoid! One cropped up after I came home from the hospital (5 days ago) and it's so effing painful. I've tried all the home remedies - sitz bath with witch hazel, tucks, ice pack, preparation h - none have provided any relief. My CS recovery is actual going well, it's just this damn hemorrhoid that's the source of my pain. It's making me ragey.

Anyone ever had one surgically removed? It sounds like the worst, I mean really. And my mom said she actually had one cut out and it was back the next day! Ahhhhh I have enough to deal with. Advice?
  • @clw617 I took a lot of stool softeners so it didn't get more irritated while it was healing. It barely bother me at all, now. I don't think they ever really go away, but if you're careful not to strain when you poo, you can keep them at bay.

  • @clw617 I had horrible hemorrhoids after birth. The preparation H cooling gel helped a bit, plus stool softeners as PP mentioned and sitting on the boppy/donut. Also only used wet wipes to wipe after a bm. It took at least 2 weeks to feel better. It wouldn't hurt to call your doctor though and ask what else you could do. I do know there are surgeries, injections and creams that can be used. Just not sure if they would do the more invasive opinions until the 6 week pp mark.

  • Yes to sitting on the boppy! I had like four hemorrhoids after birth (thanks 9 hours of pushing!) and when I figured out I could sit on the boppy it was a miracle! Basically, just be kind to your butt.

Yes, you're right. It also makes me uneasy to receive local anesthesia a week after having an epidural. I don't know if it matters, but it seems a lot to put into my body. I'm just going to give it more time! I called my doc and they said the same thing - they need more than a week to heal. They are seriously the worst though.

I'm definitely not up for it as I am only 3 weeks PP, but in curious of any moms that were intimate with their SO before their 6 week appt? I've heard of some women trying around 4 weeks. DH is definitely getting stir crazy but understands my hesitation on wanting to wait until my doc appt at 6 weeks. Heck, I'm still terrified to look down there even though I've pretty much stopped bleeding and 'think' my stitches have dissolved. I apparently prefer ignoring my situation and keep caring for it as if I'm still in the hospital lol.
Soooo I know that originally I said that I would be waiting until 6 weeks PP before sex, but my hormones got the best of me. MH and I just had AMAZING PP sex at 4 weeks. It was initially sore but not like I was anticipating.

I've been doing Zumba, walking, and some light upper body lifting. No bleeding for about 2 weeks.  I feel pretty healed.

Lots of lube and a condom for those who are thinking about it.

So Father's Day happens to be exactly 6 weeks for me, and my husband is literally counting down the days. We hardly had sex when I was pregnant  (I think the last time was February ??) and I'm afraid I just won't be ready. Im already stressed about  it and I've been so overwhelmed and NOT in the mood just dealing with our baby's reflux and colic. I hope I magically have a sex drive by then...

Creepy Internet cheer! I'm so excited for pp sex! It's DH's birthday today and I wish we could but I'm honestly afraid I'll die. I'm completely healed and haven't had bleeding in about two weeks/discharge for one week and my LO is four weeks old but I think I saw on an Oprah once a woman who had sex before her six week checkup and she died from a blood clot or something.

The blood clot would've had nothing to do with her having sex. You're at high risk of clots post partum for up to about 12 weeks.

@MsIan we had sex this morning, right on our 6 weeks. It was way better than anticipated and actually it was more comfortable than pre baby! I was really surprised. I'm glad to have the first time out of the way and hey when you think about it, it can't hurt any more than labour did!

NOTHING could hurt more than labour. I'm pretty sure that's what it feels like to die.

So this. I described it to DH in a similar way....that there's this devastating moment when it sinks in that there is no way out but through. It's incredible what we can allow ourselves to do.

I remember when that thought hit me when I found out I would be induced. It's pretty terrifying! It was like, well I guess there's no turning back now!

Yes!!!! Before I got my epidural, I kept saying to my husband and that I can't do this, but then you keep it real that you HAVE to do this. There's no choice. Then you wish that you'd just pass out and wake up with a baby in your arms. The worst part for me is I wasn't dilated at all when my water broke, so they gave me a cervix ripener. They thought I'd be in labor for 24 hours. At the 2 hour point after the pill, I was pretty much wanting to rewind back to that special day in August. I told the nurse assistant that I was in so much pain, and she buzzed the main nurse over her pager. "Your patient is saying she's in a lot of pain." "What? I just gave her the pill." At that point, I felt like a huge sissy. I thought if these contractions were supposed to be easy breezy, then I'd never make it. She came in and checked me and looked at me shocked. I was dilating super fast, so my contractions were coming fast and furious. Fortunately, a couple of hours later I was dilated enough good to get the epidural - after 4-5 hours of diarrhea and vomiting. SO FUN!

@missnc77  ugh...I got my epi about an hour before I had her & totally think I could've made it had it not been for the nausea!! I hate puking so I just kept fighting the urge to vomit while trying to relax during contractions...wasn't working. Lol

This is so close to what happened to me too with my induction. Only there weren't any L&D rooms available so they had to make one for me when I hit 8 and by the time I got the epidural I was at a 10 and only communicating via animal sounds. That cervix ripener was no joke!

Me too sometimes, and I'm 5 weeks pp!  So not cool.  At least it's not every night anymore....
  • Does anyone else's bleeding come in waves?  I'm 2.5 weeks PP and about two days ago I thought my bleeding was done (yay!), but today it's back with a vengeance.  We didn't even do anything today to cause me to over do it..  This is about the third time it's gotten really light then gotten heavy again.

This happens to me still, im 4 weeks pp. I think it was early last week that  I thought it was finishing up so I just wore a panty liner...big mistake... and I'm back on just liners again as of yesterday so we'll see how it goes this time...
  • @valerie4786 yes me too! So annoying that I keep thinking it's over and then nope! I'm 3.5 weeks pp.
  • @Jparke2 & @babyfmama - I'm glad to hear this is normal, because I was a little worried something was wrong.  But this can end anytime now!
  • I apologize if this was brought up already, but has anyone had their period return yet? I'm 7 weeks pp and I'm bottle feeding and haven't gotten it yet
  • @tripledaggerWed95976  I got mine back at 6 weeks PP this time, however with my first pregnancy it was nearly 3 months later. I've formula fed both times.

My doctor included no swimming in my post partum 'Do Not' list. I'm dying to get in the pool but I'll be waiting until my 6 week appointment.
  • I know this was discussed on an earlier thread, but now that we are all close to our 6w PP check up- What kind of birth control is everyone going to? I *think* I remember a lot were going to FAM but those of you who are not what are you going to use?

Im 6.5 weeks pp and bottle feeding. Fairly sure mine came back today. So far extremely light so I'll wait and see.
