    I'm the opposite. I feel like I can't eat enough. :(
I guess for the effort involved for myself I would just rather sleep if I have a spare minute. The long nights are rough!

I know it can take awhile but any other Mommas a week pp still without any signs of milk? This is starting to get very discouraging. I'm pumping and supplementing atm. I've started taking fenugreek per dr. suggestion. Just don't see this going according to plan anymore which is pretty much how my L&D experience was.
This didn't happen to me and I'm a FTM and BFer so I'm no expert, but based on what I've learned here it's important to not only pump but allow LO to nurse as well. I've also learned that skin to skin helps with milk production.
You might want to try the breastfeeding thread. There's some extra savvy STMs who may be able to help.

Yes. Babies are way more efficient than a pump. Definitely keep giving baby the opportunity to boost your supply by nursing baby as often as you can.

For whatever reason I've had absolutely NO desire to eat anything at all. Until yesterday afternoon/evening I wasn't even allowed to eat anything solid and today, I just can't bring myself to eat. I've had tons of drinks and little things like a fruit cup but nothing else sounds tolerable. Did this happen to anyone else?

Im not BF so at least I'm not concerned about it affecting baby but I know I need to eat for my own sake.
I have had zero appetite since directly after giving birth to now 3 weeks pp. What a massive change from pregnancy when I was stuffing my face all day long!
  • Anyone dealing with terrible headaches days after delivery? I can barely function they hurt so bad. Going on day 3. Medicine doesn't seem to help very much and laying down makes it worse. So not much sleep happening. I did have an epidural, but not sure if that matters. Hoping this ends soon! Anyone else going through something similar?

I did for days// took ibuprofen and drank a TON of water. Mine were dehydration headaches

Let the nurse or doctor know. Are they a little bit better when you lay back? Could be a spinal headache. I had terrible headaches after DD because of the epidural. I ended up having to go back to get a blood patch.

Yes!!!! We haven't identified the cause yet but possibly from the epidural. I'm just dealing the best I can for now

I did for days, mine were caused by the hormone drop and blood loss. It happens whenever I get a period as well, and medicine usually does nothing. It was awful, but they passed after about a week.

@camillaandcarson Yes. However, nothing seems to be working. Baby gets frustrated if I try to get her to nurse too often due to lack of supply.

    Maybe this can help?

I am not an expert. So I found people to help.
Have you found people in person to help? When I was having lots of issues with baby #1 I went to LLL meetings and also visited with a Lacation Consultant.
With regards to LLL the leaders were the most helpful. Are those options available in your area? Just some ideas. With my first baby and I definitely benefited from in person help from a variety of people who were there to help. I just had to find them.

Felt shitty posting this in the PPD thread, not sure where it goes so I'm going to stick it here.

Any other mamas having all of the feels lately? I had nasty baby blues with my first but this isn't like that at all. It's like I'm so happy that everything makes me want to cry. I saw an Instagram picture of my dog and it made me tear up because he's so dang cute. I am having trouble sleeping because I want to just stare at my adorable baby girl and snuggle her. Along with this cray happy cry stuff I'm feeling very needy, which isn't my usual thing. Like I don't want my husband to go back to work and I miss him when he goes to the grocery store. Not a good look at all. What in the eff is this? I mean I'm only two days PP so I'm certain my body is allllllll kinds of out of whack. I'm just hoping someone else has had a similar experience and will tell me this is all temporary and I will go back to being a sane person soon.

    Too many feels!!!

This is me exactly. Except I'm a FTM and can't say if/when we will go back to being sane. My husband went back to work yesterday and is on a business trip for 5 nights and I could not stop crying before he left. I feel you!

When I was about 5 days pp I cried looking at my baby because I just loved him so much. I'm now almost 3 weeks pp and I'm definitely evened out...although that amazed feeling hasn't gone away totally yet ;)

@bkjade totally normal, and it does calm down. I still have my emotional moments, but it's less constant (3 weeks PP). It helped me to make sure I took a nap at some point during the day while LO was napping. Sleep deprivation has a lot to do with it.

Yes, I had terrible headaches for 3 days following delivery. The nurses asked me to drink some caffeine, which helped a tad. They did go away, and I didn't have one yesterday and as of today at this 5:30 a.m. Feeding, no headache, either. Hoping the same is true for you.

  • @meggyhoppy, yes, had a persistent headache for amost three weeks. It was maddening and pain medication had absolutely no impact on it. As a pp mentioned, I began to suspect it was from my spinal block because it improved whenever I was laying down, but eventually it just disappeared.  Make sure you mention it to your OB.

Holy back pain. Like writhing in pain motn, can't sleep, feels like back labor all over again. Have no idea whether it's from: a. Back labor lol b.intense counter pressure from DH or c. Epidural. Or all of the above--but I'm not sure how much longer I can take. I also felt amazing down there the day after birth...& that quickly went away. Not sure if I overdid it because I thought I was feeling so great or what. I tore naturally, only 3 stitches but it was a diagonal tear that sort of went down my butt cheek lol...so that could be cause for a little more discomfort?? Idk Also feel everyone on the emotions. Hormones are crazy lol

Oh no, awful! I had awful tailbone pain after DS that took a couple of weeks to go away. My midwives said I likely bruised it during labor (well actually that DS bruised it...) but I wouldn't hesitate to call your doctor, it sounds like your pain is off the charts and could be something else. Hope you figure it out soon!

Yes! Even though I'm exhausted, I'll just sit awake and stare at my munchkin and watch her sleep. Little things also bring happy tears out of nowhere! Yesterday, while DH was holding munchkin and talking to her I started bawling because they just looked so precious together!
  • I haven't been the most regular since giving birth so genius that I am, I decided to have an iced coffee to get things moving. Fast forward to two hours later and the only thing it did was give me vicious heartburn. Life's cruel joke, random heartburn even postpartum.
  • @Bltbear82. Ive had more heartburn after giving birth than I ever did during PG , especially as i am BF. So random.
  • @Bltbear82 and @pooputtette I'm so sorry that just sucks. My heartburn was so f'ing insane both pregnancies that I probably would have to cut someone if it didn't immediately go away. I've read it either has to do with pressure on the esphogus or hormones?? I hope it goes away soon!!!

  • I really never had any swelling during pregnancy at all but since my CS, I've blown up like a balloon. You can't see any of my foot or ankle bones and my calves and knees are noticeably swollen. The doctor says it happens a lot and that I received so many bags of fluids that it could be a while before it goes away.

The scale hasn't moved since delivery even though I've had an 8+ pound baby, delivered the placenta and lost a ton of blood volume so I'm guessing I have quite a bit of fluid retention. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'm six days out from the CS.

  • @TXmamatobe it took nearly 3 weeks for my swelling to go all the way down and it was noticeably better by 2 weeks. Walking really helped once I felt up to walking longer distances.
  • @TXmamatobe I was crazy swollen for at least 2 weeks after my cs. My legs/ankles/feet had it the worst, I couldn't even fit into my rainbows. I didn't weigh myself until around then but I'm sure it took me a few weeks to start losing.

I'm a week postpartum (also had a csection), and I had major swelling too. I could barely move my toes and I was in actual pain just sitting down! I walked everyday, but what really helped was that on Saturday my husband wrapped both of my feet in bandages, and anytime I wasn't walking I had my feet propped up on a pillow. The swelling had gone down noticeably by bedtime when I took the bandages off, and I kept my feet propped throughout most of the rest of that night. My feet were completely back to normal the next morning!

  • Moms who had a vaginal delivery and episiotomy/2nd degree tearing - did your doctor say how long it would take for stitches to dissolve? I'm still not wiping where stitches are and using the squeeze water bottle. I'm also not brave enough to take a mirror and check it out down there.... Also, did they say no baths? I'd kill for a bath.. I'm 12 days PP.

If it doesn't go away, you should talk to your doctor about it- with my first my heartburn didn't go away for months, and it turned out I had slightly herniated my esophagus, and so my stomach acid was constantly sitting in my throat. I was able to fix it with some very weird exercises she gave me, but until then it was torture! And I had never had reflux before pregnancy.

My doctor said three weeks for stitches to heal and no baths :( I'm also too scared to check it out with a mirror!

10-14 days??!? I can't remember. I tore the same place I tore during my first delivery and second time around I am healing faster. I was in pain for 3 weeks with my first. I had the normal/typical tear between the vagina and rectum and then my labia ripped in half. This time just the normal tear. Not sure about the episiotomy though. My OB ok'ed sitz baths with just water. The more moist you keep your stiches, the less pain. Yes I used the word moist. Ew. Last time I made my mom look to see if they were dissolved - this time sweet precious husband got to take a look :p

  • @babyfmama @That1didntcount thanks for the replies! I've luckily been healing much better than I expected. Stopped taking the pain pills days ago and just doing ibuprofen. Still using dermoplast and guess I'll keep using my water bottle. Ready to feel completely normal!!! I think I'd scar DH if I made him check it out down there lol!
  • @Kennedy0830 I have a second degree tear and am about 2.5 weeks PP. I was googling the same question this morning. I check mine from time to time, and as of this morning, my swelling is way down which helps me see the stitches more clearly. Someone on here said they should dissolve in 2 weeks, but Google said it can take 6 weeks. My doctor recommended sitz baths or a bath, but I never had the time or stamina. The nurses also told me at discharge that I could take a bath but to make sure the tub is super clean. I started running a bath post shower to sit in for 10-15 - our shower/tub are separate, so it's clean, and I'm clean when I get in. I've only found the time twice in the past 3 days, so I don't know how much it's helping my stitches. We'll see!
  • I didn't see the other replies. Don't be afraid ladies! The stitches just look like dental floss once the swelling is gone. It's not bad! Other than the size of your vaginal opening - I try to avoid looking at that part.  :s
  • @Kennedy0830 2nd degree tear here as well. I'm only 6 days pp, but my swelling hasn't gone down yet. The nurse told me at discharge that I could take baths, but I haven't because I haven't made the effort to clean our tub. However, I have done the sitz bath, and it definitely helps!

  • I'll third the sitz/epsom salt bath.  It makes recovering from a vaginal delivery so much more bearable.
  • I only had a first degree tear but had a ton of swelling and I SWEAR sitz baths were my salvation!
  • I'm with you @JoMunson...they totally saved me. Go for the baths as much as you can!!! My stitches seemed to dissolve pretty quickly...like around 10 days I think. I also got Tucks pads (I don't know if they're available in the US but they're wipes soaked in a witch hazel solution used for haemorrhoids)...if you can find them or something similar they're amazing. I literally put them right against my lady parts then put on my underwear and pad. They're super cooling and soothing. I would change them every time I went to the bathroom. I also took ibuprofen around the clock for at least the first week because I was so achy down there
