Re: Post Partum Thread

  • @Pascal86 With my first I was still having occasional bleeding at my 6 week appt. This time I was done at 3 weeks, no clue what the difference is because I have been way more active this time around.

  • Anyone have bad insomnia? Everyone in my house is literally asleep! Except me!! Husband, baby, dogs!!

Anything I can do to help? I know getting off the phone but I'll literally lay there and think about life for hours and not sleep. *cries*
  • Yes I get insomnia when I know I need to be sleeping because I feel like LO will cry any minute and I'll have to jump up. Then sometimes when I do fall asleep I dream I hear LO crying. I think I have anxiety issues.

    Sorry no advice just commiseration.

That perfectly describes me. I can't sleep soundly anymore. I hate getting into a good REM cycle then be woken up. It's even more exhausting than just staying up till I can't anymore. I wish I could sleep like my dogs...or husband...hell, even the baby
  • @tgortney when I can't sleep sometimes I just read other birth month boards on the bump. It's kind of interesting because it's all relevant to what we're going through or have gone through in some capacity, but I don't know any of them so I'm not invested in what anyone says so it's also kind of boring and usually makes me sleepy.

Yes, me. I also dream that I hear LO crying, which gives me anxiety, like I should jump up and get him.
    Me: 38; DH: 41
    DS: Born 5-17-16

  • @tgortney @vinerie ugh so have you guys discussed anxiety with your doctors? I mentioned it to my OB at my 6 week appointment but she brushed it off as normal. I'm wondering if it is though or even if it is, if it's okay to continue to have this kind of anxiety. I imagine it will only ramp up when I go back to work in a month.

I get the crying dreams too; plus I sometimes dream that DS1 is calling, "Mama!" and I wake up in a panic.
In order to help to get back to sleep, I tend to focus on slow breathing and sometimes I'll say a prayer in my head or something else that requires focus, but not much original thought. It helps to get me sleepy again.

This is probably odd, but I think it helps that we have all of our bedroom ceilings painted a very light gray which doesn't seem bright at night like white does, so you can look at it and it's soothing rather than jarring.

I haven't. But it's probably a good idea to. I'm BFing so I want to stay med-free as much as possible but if it gets too bad, I wouldn't hesitate. I need to stay healthy.

It's only started recently to be honest. I already have anxiety thinking about the daycare list and what I need to pack and how I need to defrost and pack breast milk or if I'm bringing all the right things so he's comfortable and happy at daycare (holy run-on sentence but that's how my thoughts are being processed). Literally all I can think of is what I need to do so it keeps me up.

I'm 8 wks PP and just started getting major joint pain in my wrists and ankles which I've never had before. It's bad enough that moving around in the morning is pretty painful. It eases up throughout the day but is still noticeable.  Any one else having unexplained joint pains.
  • @slfezz Yeah, I was having really bad knee pain from like 4-7 weeks pp. My PT said it's a combo of still having a lot of relaxin in your system while also relying on a lot of bad postures and body positions that come with motherhood i.e. hunching while nursing instead of bringing baby all the way up to nipple level, crouching over to pick up toys instead of squatting, bending over to change baby on the floor instead of doing it on a changing table. I've been really working on changing my postural alignment to heal my diastasis, but it has also helped with the joint pain.
  • I know some here had sex before being cleared, right? After my first I never thought I'd be asking a question like this but this time around I feel really great and ready! I'm 4.5 weeks pp and only bleed randomly, not every day, and never enough that I'm changing a pad due to amount (just based on time). I want to get back to normal with DH in that department. Risks? Concerns? Experiences?

  • @lionstigersbears My midwife just told me she wanted me to go a week without bleeding before having sex. I didn't ask the logic behind it since I don't feel ready and that guideline sounded good to me.
  • Currently 7 weeks PP. Stopped bleeding around 3 weeks. Got put on the mini pill at my 6 week appt. and am randomly bleeding (although light, still bleeding bright red). Normal? I am EBFing and know some women get their period while still BFing but I figured with the pill I wouldn't deal with this at all.
Same exact experience. My bleeding lasted a few days and enough to wear a pad. Now I am curious to see if I will get another "period" at the end of this pack.

Yes!!!! Mine has been horrible and it makes me feel crazy. I'm sorry you're dealing with it but glad to know I'm not alone.

Yes, me too! My hips and knees are SO bad. My ankles and fingers sometimes, as well, but the hips and knees are the worst. If I sit for more than a few minutes, especially if I try any position besides legs straight out with feet up, it's so hard to get up--the stiffness and pain make me hobble around. I feel like I'm 80.
