  • @JoMunson yep! The 1cm I experienced with DS was very easily corrected. Good luck!

  • I have a 4 finger diastasis because of my polyhydramnios. I'm seeing a physical therapist and she says she's confident it'll heal eventually so I'm trying to be positive but it is really rough. Just so worried that I'll never be in running shape again.

I'm so over being sore all the freaking time. When I say everything hurts... Everything HURTS!! Feet, legs, back, arms, even hands. When will this end?! I've never felt so beat up like I do now.

  • My six week appt was so fast I forgot to get the doc to check if I have diastasis...I can't really tell. Can you check accurately yourself?

My midwife went to my belly button (actually it was where my Lina negra is), put her finger vertically, and asked me to do half a sit up- she then had me feel and it sort of just feels like a dip, instead of hard muscle.

Awesome thanks. Mines small. Probably maybe 1cm, if that. Yay!
  • I just had my 6 week appointment. My OB didn't check for diastasis, but I've been concerned about it so asked her if she would check. She said it wasn't worth checking until after three months since we all have it. I asked her if I should avoid normal ab crunches or push ups, and she said no. I can work out however I want to. Seems kind of mixed from what others have said on this forum. When I feel above my navel, at my navel, and below, I have about a 1 to 1.5 finger gap.

Everything I've read says sit ups and crunches aren't good for it so be safe and skip those! Push ups are ok though I'm pretty sure
  • If you have a 1-2 finger gap I have read it's not too big a deal and will likely heal on its own. If it's 3 or more (mine is a deep 3.5 in the middle, medium 3 above & below) then they recommend splinting and a very specific rehabilitation program that includes avoiding any traditional ab work.
  • @missnc77 what did your OB say about the red bump? I finally checked myself out because I'm 5 weeks PP and saw slight bleeding from a tender spot where a stitch was and also see a small red bump.
  • @kennedy0830 She said that's where a knot from a stitch was, and that it looks like it's healing normal. She gave me the all clear for activity and sex. She said I probably irritated it/made the stitch come out by walking on Tuesday. I told her it was sore Wednesday, felt better yesterday, and this morning the bump seemed less swollen. It's still there though and tender to the touch. I didn't have any bleeding from it. The bump was bigger than a pea, but smaller than a marble.
  • Anyone still dealing with sciatic nerve pain? It went away for the first two weeks after delivery and these past two it's back just as bad as when I was pregnant. Just trying to get an idea of when/if it'll ever go away

I had it after the birth but didn't have it before. I've been going to the chiropractor weekly and I feel like s new person every time. Between nursing, holding, changing, and moving my LO, it's very much needed!

  • I'm having trouble falling asleep, even though I'm exhausted. My mind keeps racing, and I think it's because I haven't gotten more than 3 hours in 2 months. Anyone else found something that helps?

I haven't found something that helps but I'm similar! I feel like I'm always thinking of something or needing to check the baby. It feels like I've had a thousand cups of coffee.
  • @NinnyJean I had it for a couple of weeks after, at least. It did subside though. I think the weight coming off has helped.

@AliciaD39 I'm having that exact problem right now. Sometimes I find having the monitor on next to me so I can hear the white noise in the nursery helps put me out

^^^^ this. I think I'd be at least a little less stressed if I could do the whole "sleeping while the baby sleeps" thing, but nope. Mind is too occupied. So far the only thing that has helped is having a terrible/boring novel to read a chapter of so I can sort of reset/relax my brain.

  • I'm not sure if this has been discussed, but I'm 5 weeks pp tomorrow and my secret clinical strength is not cutting it. Is there anything I can do or just wait out the hormones. I pretty much hate the way I smell... It's also 95 degrees out so that doesn't help.

Yes!! What is up with this. I don't remember this at all with my son either, although he was born in the fall so it was a little cooler... I feel like I want to shower 2x/ day and reapply deodorant like every 3 hours.
  • @bellodomani maybe I need to reapply - but one stick is like 8 bucks and I'm going through it like crazy. Why must I wreak? And I have to wear suits for work - dry cleaning costs? Not that those suits fit but now I'm going on a tangent.

  • I need the night sweats to come to an end. I wake up soaked every morning no matter how cool it is and if I sleep without blankets or sheets.

@yogahh I too ache everywhere. I have a Dr. Appointment Thursday and I'm hoping to be cleared to swim. I heard that some of the achy feeling comes from weak muscles. Swimming will help me rebuild without being in constant pain.

Omg to the night sweats! It's been 5 weeks for me and I'm still getting them. Makes me feel so gross

Sweaty and smelly here too. LO snuggles up next to me so much that by mid-day she smells like my armpits  :/

I have tried alllllll of the deodorant to no avail.

I thought this was talked about but couldn't find it...

So I'm 5 weeks pp, my bleeding/lochia stopped about 5 days ago completely. So I obviously stopped wearing a pad... Two days ago I started bleeding bright red again and it's still heavy today.

Anyone have this happen?? I did nothing unusual to make it start. I'll be pissed af if this is my period! But I did get it early (3-4 months pp) with my son...

I can't promise it's not your period  :#, but this happened to me around 5 weeks as well.  I was really active prior to the bleeding though, and it only lasted for about a day.  But maybe there's hope!
  • @kami09 years ago with my first someone mentioned that when the placenta detaches it leaves a wound which scabs over, then around 5-6weeks it sheds giving you a short bit of bleeding. I have no idea if that is actually true, just something a friend mentioned. Google might know
  • How long did you keep taking colace after birth? I'm almost three weeks pp and still not regular. I haven't been taking it every day, but still a little wary of taking it for too long. On the other hand, I also like not being constipated. Thoughts?

Yesterday my midwife explained that this is actually pretty common. I was actually asking why the standard 6 weeks is out there and she said a small part of it is that right around 5-6 weeks many women have a last bit of bleeding after having already stopped.

Then again, I called them in a panic after DS right around 6 weeks due to ongoing heavy bleeding. It was my period. :(

  • @kami09 it happened to me too! It wasn't much but I thought I was getting my period too. It stopped the next day.

If you like it, keep taking it. There's no concern about taking it every day for the rest of your life if you want!!

Not sure if you're a coffee drinker but that's how I made my switch off of colace. I started having a cup of coffee every morning which had the same effect on me.

This, plus kale and no more colace. For me it was just having one less thing to worry about (taking colace) and being scared if I forgot!

Definitely have this going on right now. I have my last appointment tomorrow so I plan on asking but I'm going to be pissed if this is my period. I know o got a 9 month break but I want more!

Thanks everyone! Glad to know I'm not the only one!!
  • Those that had the achiness, was it all over? I feel like I have the flu but no fever, nothing really but muscle and joint pains. I'm five weeks postpartum and it started around four-ish weeks pp. it seems like it gets worse after laying in the bed at night.

I'd describe my achiness as arthritic more than flu like aches and pains. I've had them since about week 3 and they haven't gone away. Based on what I read it has something to do with weak muscles over compensating and unable to support joints.
