@camichael84 I love subscribe and save! I need to start doing it again. We let our prime membership lapse and I got in the habit of buying them at the store. S&S is so much easier and cheaper than buying one little pack at a time.
Thanks @PSUBecky23and @camichael84I am not giving up hope yet as there is still a chance it'll show up somewhere. This pair in particular hold a lot of sentimental value for me same as yours do with the stories behind them that you shared.
On another note, MIL gave me the book What to Expect When You Are Expecting last night. Wow! It's that a lot of reading! I am assuming it is best used as a sort of reference book?
@geminigirl16 That's how I use my pregnancy books. But my sister would read the chapter about the next week or weeks when she was a new week. A lot of the information is about special circumstances, which you won't need unless you have those special circumstances.
@geminigirl16 I never got What to Expect because I had a couple people tell me that it covers so much it can be overwhelming and scary. I did get the Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy, and I liked it, but I'd just pull it out and read a bit here and there. Most of the stuff it would cover on the month to month development was on my pregnancy app and/or TB.
Hello again all. Did I miss anything big on the other threads? I checked on the baby's sex announcements I had missed - can't believe a lot of us will be finding out next month at anatomy scans. I missed the board but can't keep up on my phone.
Emmett and I did about 700 miles of travel in 5 days (the first trip my husband was with us.. that was maybe 400 miles). I am exhausted back at work today but happy to be back in adult-mode versus constant toddler chasing. We had a really fantastic time and got so many congratulations and compliments from friends/family that we hadn't seen yet.
I also got 3 pairs of crazy patterned maternity leggings in the mail on Friday and wore a pair to my niece/nephew's birthday on Saturday. HOLY COMFORT!! I used to swear off of leggings but I felt really really good about myself in them, and that's what matters about clothes - especially maternity! Not brave enough to rock them at work yet, maybe when Spring is really here (we are unfortunately getting a random 3-6 inches of snow today after not having any on the ground for weeks!)
@AnnaS930 Glad to have you back! I can't think of anything major you missed last week...but, then again, it's 8:30am on a Monday. My mind is just blank, in general. Haha. We, too, have snow in the forecast for this week. But not until Thursday...hoping some sort of warm front moves in between now and then!
@JennM205-Forecast had us for 8-12 inches, and in the last few days it went down to 3-6. Coming down pretty quick/steady so far.. so probably closer to the 6 but hey, better than a foot I guess?? Rest of the week looks warm and wet so it should be gone, but still somewhat yucky. Boo.
@JennM205 I was so ticked to hear about the possible snow on the news this morning. And maybe 60's tomorrow? Can't it just get warm and stay warm? I'm a better person when it's nice out...lol!
I don't think we have any snow coming here, but it feels like we are having below average temperatures. I may just be impatient for warmer weather, though.
Snow in the first week or so of Spring really isn't unusual for us.. just feels unfair because we didn't really have much of a Winter, so I was enjoying seeing all of my daffodils and tulips come up! (luckily they were only a few inches tall and shouldn't be hurt but a little snow!)
Snow in PA this time of year is totally normal too. Snowed the day we brought my daughter home from the hospital on 3/25/13. Timehop tells me it snowed on the first day of spring last year. I'm ready for spring but I'm ok with more winter. It was such a mild winter anyway.
I ordered some old navy maternity items. Got them on Saturday. Most of them are big on me, and I was tempted to return them but thought, no... Better not. I'm gaining faster this time and I'm fairly certain the shorts I bought will probably fit by June or July. Same with the maxi skirt. I can't believe it's almost April already!!!

@AnnaS930 My tulips are starting to come up, too! I was so excited when I started seeing them. And my neighbor's daffodils are blooming. We don't have daffodils despite me telling DH every year they are my favorite spring flower, and I want to plant some.
It's also not unheard of for us to have snow in late March, and after looking it up the temps are pretty close to average right now. The couple of really warm days spoiled me into thinking it should be like that every day.
And mentioning my tulips makes me want to AW this pic of DD with them last year.
@LizC216 I know it's only a couple of inches possible for this week but it's still just not right! I look at the 10-day forecast every day, hoping to see a good stretch of days at 60 or above. (That, to me, is when "Spring" has begun.) I'm so ready. I just want to be outside!!
Question: So we have been doing weekly trivia with this group (part of a meet up, like 12 regulars plus rotating new ppl) since October but have not hung out with them outside of it. I intend to announce on facebook (I'm friends with like 5 of them on there) this Sunday so tonight will be the last time I see them in person before then. H says we should tell in person and I'm leaning to only 3 people would care so let them find out on fb. I would feel soooo awkward making an announcement tonight but just telling a few of them I think would be rude. Any thoughts on what I should do? Edit to add: none of them have kids or are married.
@jhems776 - I'd stick with the facebook post. That way when you guys go next week the ones from FB will say "hey, saw the great news, congratulations!" and it will be an easier announcement to the rest of the group.
I had the same situation with my local mom-friends. I didn't want to make a big announcement to them, so we did our FB announcement and the next time we got together the ones who I'm friends with brought it up for me. I don't think any feelings were hurt as we're also kind of a rotating group of whoever is available for impromptu baby play dates.
I was just reading through the Nursery Decisions thread. All I could think about is how annoyed I am that Dumbo/Elephants are EVERYWHERE for nursery décor! Six and half years ago, DH and I were hard-pressed to find anything that was solely elephants, let alone anything that was specifically Dumbo. (I love love love elephants!) We got the elephant stuff that we could find but it wasn't easy. I know we could do elephants again for these two but I hate to do the same thing again. I'm just annoyed that it's all 6.5 years too late.
@UnwritteN12 You're obviously just so trendy, you're ahead of it all! Watch, whatever you choose for these babies will be the hot new thing in another six years!
My sweet tooth is going crazy today! We don't really have anything sweet in the house (or much of anything right now, I need to do some serious grocery shopping tomorrow). Then I remembered that I bought Dove chocolate Easter eggs for my girls...I think I'll need to get another bag. I've easily eaten 10 of those little chocolates.
I think I have a yeast infection! I thought it was a first tri thing so I was in the clear. Apparently it's most common in the second trimester. I had it with my second pregnancy. Ug so itchy and uncomfortable. Anyone else?

Ugh...I had two in the first trimester. The worst! I really hope I'm done with them.
@UnwritteN12 I sort of know how you feel! I've always had a small obsession with owls so I decided to decorate my daughters nursery with them 2.5 years ago. There wasn't a whole lot of owl nursery decor when I was shopping but it seemed like that trend exploded in the year after she was born and is still going strong! Owls everywhere!

So I had an appointment today and the nurse midwife didn't do an ultrasound but only listened to the heartbeat. Is this common practice? I was like uh....that's it? Don't get me wrong, it was very exciting to hear the heart but I was expecting to see the little guy and get some more photos! Darn it.

I've always used midwives. They usually just measure my tummy and listen to the heart beat and ask how everything is going. And check blood pressure.

Thanks @lovelylauren86. I wonder if I have some. It's so embarrassing. Having your bits all swollen and itchy. @LizC216 hopefully you did your time and you are done now!

@mom2adoodle yeah the routine (aside from my crazy ass practice) is to do about 2 ultrasounds. One in the beginning and one for anatomy scan. Glad you heard the healthy heart beating along
@SarahMConnors Mine did. It's back, but I think that's mostly because all I ate yesterday was bacon, eggs, and rice crispies. Not exactly a fiber-rich meal plan. Not sure if it's specifically due to hitting the 2nd trimester, but the return to regularity is great!
I'm always kind of surprised when I hear questions about how often for ultrasounds. My OB's office makes it very clear at the 8 week appt that it's just a dating u/s and anatomy scan. I know I would have had no clue if they hadn't told me, but I guess I just assumed most practices told you what to expect. Particularly since there is usually an added cost associated with them.
My OB's office tells me that I'll have an ultrasound every X number of weeks (currently every 4 weeks), but they don't tell me what my next appointment is going to entail and are pretty un-forthcoming about when to expect important ultrasounds to happen (official ultrasound and anatomy scan). They just sort of spring it on me that I need to get those scheduled when I'm heading out the door from a regular appointment.
So I know that right now I have an ultrasound every 4 weeks, but I don't know when, exactly, my anatomy scan is going to be. I'm assuming it's not at my next ultrasound (19 weeks and a couple days) since they didn't tell me it would be (among other reasons). I would think they'd have mentioned that that's what the appointment's for if it was, since it takes longer than a regular ultrasound and is kind of important.
I'm actually a little pissed about it at the moment because I have a feeling they're going to outsource my anatomy scan, which means I'm going to have to make an appointment with the hospital on relatively short notice and won't be able to have a date to look forward to.
At my first appointment with both babies, the nurse gave me 832 papers about what to expect in terms of appointments and pregnancy - when/how to schedule genetic testing, anatomy scan, glucose test, etc. Surprised as well that other practices don't do that.
I'm back after being in mobile bump pergutory. Has anyone else had an issue with the app where they can't post anything? I could read but not reply, and wanted to make sure I didn't do anything bad and get blocked out for a few days.

Sometimes the app locks you out and you have to log back in before you can reply

@ThemaritimemamaPretty often on my phone I type out a huge response and get "You do not have permission to do that" or something similar. It's super annoying and why I go pretty MIA if I'm not at work.

With my daughter I only got an ultrasound at 8 weeks and 20 weeks (then a bonus one at 24 because they couldn't get a clear heart picture at 20 weeks). The rest of the time was just listening

Same on the ultrasounds. This time just expecting dating ultrasound (had that at 8weeks) and anatomy scan at 20 weeks.
Last time I had a dating ultrasound at 8 weeks, an anatomy scan at 20 weeks, a repeat at 21 weeks because he wouldn't roll the way they needed to see his cord clearly, and another one at 41 weeks because I was scheduled for an induction and they like to see the positioning etc before diving into that. Of course he came on his own the following day, so that ultrasound was pretty useless, but fun nonetheless!!
