@JennM205@camichael84 the limit on colace is probably a warning of hey, if you're constipated for over a week and this isn't helping... go see your doctor and find out what is going on in there. For pregnancy, we know what's going on... slowed movement, relaxed muscles and a baby sitting on your intestines so daily use isn't harmful as long as there isn't a more serious constipation cause that should be diagnosed. I will start doing daily if I need to up my iron after the GD blooddraw!
My random today is weird dreams. We're all having them and they can be fun or scary but mine seem to be reflecting my FTMness
I had a dream that I gave birth to a beautiful girl and we came home and went to bed. The next night I woke up in the middle of the night terrified because I hadn't fed her since we got home, so about two days! I freaked out and thought the worst so I went to go get her. She looked small and thin but was sleeping swaddled in her crib so I picked her up and told DH to get a bottle with formula in case my milk hadn't come in. I tried BFing and it worked, I had a tingly sensation in my boob and a sweet, weird taste in my mouth lol. She was eating! Then DH came upstairs with the bottle and I freaked out because we had the baby but hadn't bought anything in our registry!
Apparently, the unpreparedness is a pattern for me as a FTM. I dreamt a few weeks ago that I got a puppy and forgot to feed it for days and woke up in a panic because he attacked me. I hope I can feel more confident going forward. It's overwhelming thinking that I'm going to be responsible for keeping a person alive
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom -- the good news is you most definitely won't forget to feed the real baby! but yeah--these dreams can be disconcerting. I am totally weirded out that I keep having dreams about people being murdered. I guess I should just be glad that (so far) I'm never the one doing the murdering!
I normally can't wait to leave the office. It means that it's that much closer to me being able to go to bed. Not today. For the past few days, the following has happened -
Morning - I don't want to get out of bed. I love you so much bed. You're my friend. I still want to sleep. Mid-Morning - Can't keep my eyes open. Coffee. End of Day - Oh yay! I get to go to bed in a few hours! Oh how I miss my nice comfy bed! 7:00 - Can't. Keep. Eyes. Open. Must. Sleep. Now. 9:30 to 10 - Finally in bed. Ready to sleep. 11:00 - Still awake. Can't find a comfy position. My back hurts so much! Why does my body hate me?! Why does my bed hate me?! Shortly after midnight - Sleep comes. After tossing and turning for 2 damn hours. 6:30 am - I finally found a good spot. Unfortunately the day is beginning.
No wonder I can't keep my eyes open during the day. My bed has failed me and my body hurts.
@SarahMConnors Usually the GD testing isn't done until 28 weeks. Unless you have a history of it, or the doctor thinks you should do it sooner. I had a yeast infection at my last appointment, I'm overweight, and with my previous pregnancies the results were just a few numbers on the "safe" side. The combination of these is why my doctor wanted me to do the test at my next appointment. I think I'll have to take the test again at 28 weeks if I pass.
Random thought.. I've always loved reading birth stories, would the FTM (and BTDT) be interested in a birth story thread to share stories of our first, second etc births? Might be too early for this though!
@UnwritteN12 -- that was awesome and so sad all at the same time. You nailed it! That's exactly how I was when I was pregnant with my LO. This time it hasn't been as bad, but last night after feeling like I was going to die if I didn't lie down, I spent at least 3 hours trying to fall asleep. And then LO got up at 5. Woot.
@rocky_star Like a thread to share our birth stories after this pregnancy? Or including our previous births? On my last BMB, everyone created their own thread with the long birth story and we had a sticky thread for a short intro of the new baby. Not sure how people want to do it here? Like you, I know it's early, but I love birth stories.
@UnwritteN12 That is the worst! I hope it gets better for you, but who am I kidding. We both know it just gets harder the bigger you get. But I still hope you can get some good sleep in at some point.
For those of you who have traveled with children, do you bring car seats on the airplane?
In a couple months we're going on a trip to New England. We'll be on the airplane for 6 or 7 hours. There are six of us, myself, my husband, our 3 daughters (aged 4, 2, and 12 months), and my 19 year old sister. I had planed to bring carseats for the younger two onto the airplane. The youngest doesn't have a paid for seat but I know that if there is an extra seat, that she can sit in it. I am also planning to have the 4 year old carry her booster seat onto the plane as one of her carry-ons. Everybody that I've talked to thinks I'm crazy for bringing the carseats at all. The popular thought is that I should check them all so there'd be less to carry with us. But we need those carseats as soon as we land in Boston. We're renting a car so we can't have anybody pick up seats and bring them to us. What would we do if our luggage got lost? And I think that the 2 year old will sleep better if we have her carseat. Our flight lands in Boston at midnight, so that's a lot of flight time when they could be sleeping.

@LeahKnits I'm going to jump in here with some travel advice. Hope that's okay! We recently flew 12 hours with my 11 month old as a lap infant. With car seats you have a lot of options..
1. Check with your luggage so you don't have to lug through the airport. Risk it being lost or delayed at your destination. Sounds like you don't want to do that.
2. Gate check the seats. This is what we did. You do have to carry through the airport, but you don't have to try and lug them down the plane aisle or install in the plane seat. You don't risk losing you seat because it literally boards the plane when you do. You get it back as soon as you come off the plane.
3. Bring them onto the plane with you and install in the seats. This is fine if your kids don't mind the car seats and you have enough hands to do it. I knew my daughter would scream sitting in a seat beside me, so it was just easiest for me and my hubby to take turns holding her. Seats don't count as a carry on item so they are basically freebies.
Hope this makes your decision a little easier! Traveling with littles is a pain, but with planning you will be fine!
@Thscary I have heard that rental carseats are not a good way to go. Because you don't know how reliable the company is. Do they replace them after a crash? Are they cleaned properly? Do they pay attention to the expiration dates? So I'd much rather have our own carseats along.
@beachmama14 Thank you! I am open and eager for any travel advice. I haven't done much travelling at all, this will be my third time on a plane. So. I'm a bit nervous about it. Especially since we'll have three kids to entertain. We have pretty light and easy to carry carseats, so I'm going to plan on bringing them to the plane. The more I think about it, the more I think we definitely need the carseat for the 2 year old. A good portion will be at night and I am pretty sure she won't be able to sleep in an airplane seat. And we'll bring the seat for the baby also, and gate check it if there isn't room for her.
@LeahKnits if you don't want to bring them on the plane, there is the option to leave them with the stewardesses before you board. That way you can rest assured that they're on the plane and you don't have to deal with the bulkiness of them during your flight.
You can rent them with your car, but it does get pricey and you have to worry about installing a foreign seat because they usually don't do that for you. I would just bring my own if you have people to help you carry them thru the airport.
@LeahKnits : when I fly with my 2.5 yo, the car seat is a must. He is comfortable in it, and he feels like it is "his seat". I've done it both ways. We flew to Paris without the car seat, and it was a huge mistake. He never got comfortable, he didn't sleep. It was pretty awful.
That being said, you have to be sure your car seat is airline compliant. Some flight attendants get really huffy about this and scrutinize the seat as it comes on.
I think you'll really struggle to get the car seat for your lap infant on the plane. I haven't been on a flight that wasn't oversold in a LONG time. You're probably out of luck there. My guess is lo will be on your lap.
I think ink there are less expensive options out there.
My guess is you'll be forced to gate check your infant's seat. You might as well gate check the older child's seat at that point, too. By gate checking, you *should* be able to pick it up at your arrival gate. However, sometimes you'll have to get them at luggage claim. Depends on the size of your aircraft and airport.
@rocky_star I love that idea. But I do think it would be more helpful maybe closer to the third tri? I love telling my birth stories and I'm obsessed with reading and hearing others!

@pilotswifey I'd rather gate check the seats than check them at the counter, so we'll be bringing them to the gate with us either way. I don't think it'll be a hassle because we have very light seats. I plan to turn them upside down and strap them over the carry on suitcase with wheels. I'll have my stroller along also, so I don't need the kids to ride on the seats through the airport. I plan to gate check the stroller. It won't be such an issue if we are holding the baby. There'll be three adults along, so we can take turns. Last time I flew my oldest was about 4 months old and I was alone so I had to hold her the entire time. That was hard. Thank you!
I think that it will be great for there to be a thread for BTDT moms to share their stories. It might be a bit more helpful to the FTMs later on, but it can be started anytime.
Back when I had DS, it was very common on every birth month board for people to post their own thread with their story. The last 3 months of my pregnancy I lurked and read as many as possible (even the horrible ones). It really helped me in feeling prepared for my birth. For some reason, it seems as if people creating threads for their birth stories isn't the norm anymore. Why is that?
In regards to flying with baby...I have never flown with a baby but I have read that the safest way is to actually buy the child their own seat and use the car seat. It keeps the child secure in the event of a rough flight/turbulence. Of course, very few people do that because of money. There are some organizations that are trying to make laws/regulations that require infants be secured in car seats on planes.
@lovelylauren86- that sounds sooooo good. I just had a piece of homemade chocolate chip banana bread, and a package of brown sugar/cinnamon pop tarts, but I'd still make room for that bagel if it appeared!
I'm posting my own thread for the birth story of this one when the time comes. I don't care how AWish it is and what TB police say. Everyone is entitled to have her day when it comes to the birth of a child.

I did the same regarding lurking and reading birth stories. I'm sad to hear it's not the norm to do this anymore. I'd like to still do it on our board if it isn't against the TOS. I'm going to go lurk to see, but are the other boards at least sharing their birth stories on a master thread?

Last time I lurked I saw that some are, but there isn't always a lot of response. And I believe that going through labor and having a baby is something that a person should be AWish about and get there own thread. IMO, fear of being a AW has gone too far in this case.
I tripped off the curb leaving work yesterday ( I am soooo graceful) so not only do I have a scraped up hand and a bruise on my knee, but I must have jarred myself a lot because I am so sore today. My hip and butt hurt and I didn't even land on them. I'm gonna treat myself to chocolate today to make myself feel better
@marajay6 I only lurked March16, but in the announcement thread it mentions linking your individual thread to your announcement. But then no one did an individual thread!? I just don't understand. It makes me sad if its because they are scared of AWing their birth.
After sharing 8 months of going through pregnancy with you girls, I want to hear your birth stories and share mine with you! I will be posting my birth and hope everyone else here does as well.
Also, being on M16 made me so excited for September!!!
I'm not huge on posting a long birth story, I can sum mine up in about a paragraph and it just wasn't a huge deal to me? I don't know how to word that thought.. having my son was amazing, but going through labor and pushing him out just was what it was.. it happened, I did it, it was hard but not impossible, then he was here. I'm a weirdo - I won't post a birth story and will only skim over others, but will let you know when this baby arrives and the stats (time, weight, length, vaginal/c-section, etc)
@AnnaS930 I'm fine with a short paragraph summing the birth. M16 wasn't even congratulating each other because it was forbidden in the master thread, but then they weren't posting individual threads. I'd really like being able to say "Congrats. Cute baby." at the end of all of this since I already feel like a know a lot of you.
Agreed on birth stories deserving AW moments! It might be fun to have one thread with past birth stories from BTDT moms but I think, when the time comes, we should post our individual threads for our birth stories with these babies. No matter how long or short or if it gets many responses or not. I know I'll be reading them!
@LeahKnits I've taken a few airplane trips with my daughter with just the two of us. The first time she was 20 months. I took her carseat on the plane with me until she was about 3, and I am SO glad that I did. She sat in it without a fuss, she even fell asleep in it while we were flying. It's a bit of a hassle to get it through the airport, but IMO it's worth it.

Yeah, Dec14 had a master thread for birth announcements that people were crazy about not posting anything but a LoveIt, they wanted it to be kept clean and only record each baby being born as a count. I think people posted individual birth stories? But by then a group of us had formed a private board, and soon after moved to facebook so I really don't remember. Also - when I was 10 days pays my due date I lost interest in reading birth stories (selfish, I know, but I was losing patience) and mostly disconnected from the big group. Then once I had my baby in my arms I didn't take as much time to come back and read others.. except for those that I was in the private small groups with (30+ people)
I just pre-registered at the hospital. They want us to do it by 12 weeks, but I guess I am a little superstitious, so I waited. This definitely made it feel real...you know because the nausea and expanding waistline just wasn't doing it. Kidding, but yikes, filling out all this paperwork definitely makes it feel official.

Wait, I was supposed to do that by 12 weeks? Oops! They gave me the form on week 8 but didn't tell me when to send it so I figured I'd do it around week 34
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom I think that's going to depend on your hospital. With DD, I didn't pre-register until sometime in my third tri while I was taking my childbirth classes.
ETA: Not that this is really all that important, but I just remembered I was 32 weeks. We did it the same night that I stopped working.

We we have the wheels that are made for a car seat to get it through the airport. It looks like a small luggage rack.
