Hey, ITK, I want to know more about what you did with A and the box. I have put some of N's toys up (mostly blocks) b/c he has been ignoring me when it's time to clean up, and he doesn't really get it when I try to explain why those toys are gone. He just kind of comes apart and tells me to put more things in the closet (with the blocks). Did A see you put them up? How long did you wait until getting them out? I know she's older than N, but I'm hoping maybe I can try something similar to fix this issue.

  • So for some super randomonium, I just read a review on Amazon that makes me want to meet this person. He sounds like a hoot!

"So my wife comes at me like, "Hey HUSBAND, let's buy this neato crap for our baby." And so I said, "what neato crap? it sounds expensive!" So she says, "It's a Snuzzler, and it fi...." me says, "WAIT A WHAT!?" she says, "a snuzz..." me, "hell no, that sounds dumb."

Well fast forward she buys the snuzzle thing, we stuff it into our overly engineered unnecessarily expensive heavy as hell car seat. I drop my little baby right in there and holy crap, he's just as happy as can be. I swear he was in my arms cryin and sayin, "daddy you suck, you don't give me milk like mommy does!" and then I just plop him right in there and he was asleep before his body had stopped moving.

Seriously this is some reverse baby-catnip or something, I don't even know what they put it in it, but it's clearly more advanced technology than the first human mission to mars is gonna have.

If you don't buy this then you probably don't like having a happy baby. Whatever man, that's your problem, but my little guy, yeah he's sleeping. In fact I don't even know how much this piece of crap costs, but whatever it is, it's worth it. (seriously I can't see the price while writing this review.)"

  • I'm glad you got some help and some answers Jane.  Hopefully the exercises help.  Did you get stuff to treat both you and L for thrush?
If you do need to get the tie clipped, it's not that big of a deal.  I mean, I know it sounds really scary, but I've had several friends whose LO's had it done, and they all did really great with it.  But FX it's not an issue.  GL with the exercises, and keep us posted.  You're doing a great job!
She just had me get some cream for me bc I "look like I might be yeasty." Ew. But L doesn't have any signs of it yet that she noticed. Do I need to treat him? I guess the tongue clip isn't scary so much as inconvenient. The dentist that does it is 2 hours away, and if our insurance doesn't cover it, it's expensive. The LC thinks we should be ok without it if we can get his latch corrected with the exercises, but we'll definitely pursue it if not.
Hmm.  That sounds super scientific.  I guess if you use some cream and it never develops into full blown thrush for either of you, it's fine.  Whatever you would use to treat L would be RX (unless you are brave enough to do gentian violet, which I'm not due to staining factors.)  I don't know how someone can look a little yeasty.  Do you have white spots?  Or open cracks?  Does it feel like knives shooting through your nips when you nurse?  Are they shiny and bright pink/red?

  • @unaveragejane‌ I picked them up right in front of her. She was screaming and crying the whole time. I boxed them and put them on a table where she could see them but not reach them. That was on Saturday. A couple of times we've talked about her not picking up her toys and reminded her that if mommy or daddy had to do it they were going into the box.

I asked her a few times if she missed her toys that were boxed up and when she said yes, I'd explain to her that it's important to put things away when we're done with them and to help keep our house clean. Then today she helped me clean the kitchen and cleaned up some random clutter that was around, so I thanked her and asked her if she was ready to earn her toys back. She said yes, so I took the box down and told her that she could put everything in the box away to earn them all back, which she did.

So they were put away for three days, but still in plain sight and talked about frequently. I would have offered her them back yesterday, but we were out all day and. I didn't get anything cleaned.

  • I just used a grovia cover on J with a large gmd flat padfokded. I still love it more than all my pockets, aios, and other covers. And I decided I'm selling my best bottoms. Or I might keep one in case I need him to use the ON combo at some point. So I'll sell 2. Should I keep hedgehog or green giraffe?

If 'keep both' isn't going to fly, then definitely keep hedgehog!

  • @tj1979 Yes, feels like daggers! And she asked me if I thought they were a deeper color than normal bc she thought they seemed irritated. I hadn't really put much thought into it, so I told her maybe. She had me go to a compounding pharmacy to get the cream, which I'm guessing is kind of like CJ's Plus for nipples. Anyway, fingers crossed that it helps.

When I went to the BF clinic I too got the official, "Looks a little yeasty." (those words exactly) I got an Rx for Newman's nipple ointment (they mixed it at a compounding pharmacy) and it worked wonders. BF was so painful before and the ointment healed up the cracks. P never developed or was treated for thrush either.

I'm going to add a third insert tonight and maybe a wool soaker. No more night changes for us!
Dang, lucky you! My baby poops like crazy still but I noticed the last 2 nights he has gone like 5 hours w/o wetting a dipe.....wondering if that was normal.  So once they stop pooping at night is when to start worrying about a ON diaper, right?

I use the stay dry during the day, and the hemp/cotton at night.  I don't know why.  Hemp absorbs more, so that's why I use it at night.  My stay drys though have developed a bit of a stink.  I'm going to RLR them this weekend.  My cotton/hemp smell fine and do the exact same laundry routine.  So maybe hemp is better.  If your LO isn't sensitive to wetness.

Which insert do you recommend for the BB--the stay dry or the hemp/cotton?

I've gone through spells of liking both for different reasons. When P was younger, I liked the stay dry for her more sensitive baby skin, then I liked the hemp for trimness and absorbency for quite awhile, now I'm back to using the stay dry, mostly because I can't control how often she's changed at daycare. The infant room was very good about changing every 2 hours or less, but the toddler room is a little more lax and fewer wet/dirty diapers are sent home each day, so I know she's sitting in them longer.

  • @TJ1979‌ , you said P is in freetimes at night, right? Are they completely saturated in the mornings?

I just had A in an sbish snapless last night, and it was totally saturated when I changed her after her morning feed (no leaks, though) She was up to nurse twice before that, if that makes a difference .

Just wondering if a freetime would work too, or if I should stick with the sbish.

Wouldn't hurt to try one though. Maybe close to sheet changing day so if it leaks nbd.
