He's been gone all morning, and I've been in a ton of pain, plus I slept terribly and in a weird position last night so it was especially bad this morning, but my house is a fucking mess and super needs to be cleaned so I've been slowly but surely getting things done.
I have been on A all morning to get her blocks and stuffed animals up off the floor. She's been taking forever on purpose, after completely destroying my living room last night, so I've been warning her that if she doesn't make some serious progress I am going to take a box and put everything she hadn't picked up into a box that's going away. He finally just came home, and she's running around. I warned her two more times to stop playing and go pick up her things, and the second time she rolled her eyes at me. So I got the box. Cue her screaming and hysterically crying, hitting me while I'm picking everything up into the box. So that does he say? To me: 'Don't you think this is an extreme reaction?'
Seriously? Fuck you, dude, I've been here battling with her all fucking morning, and this is the help you're going to give me? Also, thanks for letting ME pick everything up off the floor and not pitching in at all, and thanks for letting our kid hit and scratch me while you just stand there watching me tell her to get in time out. Because you know, I haven't already told you this morning that I'm in a ton of pain. Your assistance is super appreciated.
Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste,
It all revolves around you.
Alex is almost grown out of her NB simplexes. I'm legitimately sad about this. They are my favorites (especially since the two I have were both gifts). I want more, but don't want to pay $30 a pop for them (

Wow... I didn't realize, or forgot, that's how much they were. I got mine for only $10 a pop, used. Which is a steal, I know.
What is wrong with cloth diapers as an answer to "hey, what does M need?" Well judging from the mountain of clothes he already has for the next size and toys EVERYWHERE with no place to store them...CDs are more doable and will get used
The huge ride-on car you got him now needs to be stored for THREE YEARS and is not appreciated. If you'd gotten a diaper he'd be using it right this second. And with an age suggestion of "at least three" how do you think this is appropriate?!?!

DS1 probably plays with a bunch of age inappropriate toys here...
But yes, just buy diapers. I don't know why that's so difficult.

Not that he doesn't play with things outside his age group...this is a toy that he cannot even manipulate because his body and mind aren't capable yet.
Someone want to help me pick? lol I hate making choices.
What's the other choice?
Basically the choice is to continue on the plan of becoming a vet tech or just switching my majors and going back to the original plan of nursing. Really, their pre reqs are very similar. The only difference is taking those 1-2 anatomy classes. The benefits would be that I would be able to stay local for school and not have to transfer to a school 45 miles away. Also, the pay is considerably more than being a vet tech. However, it would require me to go to school longer. But, I can do my BSN online through WGU and work once I get my RN.
Honestly, it's more money directly off the bat with being an RN. Median income of a Vet Tech is 30k, median income of an RN is 75k. I'd make almost double right out of school than the other. I love animals and always have. However, I love people too. I've done wonderful things in customer service jobs. I'm really thinking that maybe nursing might be the wiser choice on the whole. I can still work with animals in more of a hobby capacity. Which is what I'd want to do anyways. Doing things like confirmation, agility, breeding, ect. I dunno. The commute is also very scary to me. So there is that.
Well obviously I don't want to tell you what to do. But having more income for the long run is a good thing. And working with pets can always be your hobby. Nursing is an awesome profession.

Honestly I'd take a look at what each field offers for career paths. I like jobs that offer ways to advance. I'd also look at what will work for your family. Such as work hours. Especially if you want time for hobbies and family (ie Saturdays off, dinners at home.)
I have a good friend who's a vet tech and she absolutely loves it. She did say it was kind of hard for her to find a vet/clinic to work at that she really liked though. She either felt disrespected by the vet or she was working crazy weird hours and not agreeing with all their policies. Also she sells Scentsy or something like that on the side to supplement her income.
Nursing is a pretty awesome profession IMO, but I would be a little nervous about the uncertainty of our healthcare system in general. I'm sure you'll have a job when you get out, but it may or may not look exactly how you expect it to. I know the two big healthcare companies around here are all trying to buy up the smaller hospitals and clinics and put each other out business. It's sad because it's making a shortage of good care around here. Anyway, just food for thought.
Our diapers were looking, smelling and feeling weird, so we were getting ready to strip them. Then DW discovered the nanny put liquid detergent in the bleach compartment when she tried to wash them. Ugh and why oh why would someone do such a thing.
Thanks all! I have looked into some of it. I do have a few ins with the whole vet field around here. However, at my vet clinic alone there is 4 training Vet Techs. So, the job field might become very difficult here soon. As for nursing I know of 2 hospitals within 30 minutes of my house hiring in large volumes. 1 that just had almost all of their L&D, Mother/Baby, and NICU nurses retiring and 1 that is going through a large change in ownership. So, I think I'll be able to find a job in something I want to do. Even though I am CPST certified and have toyed with becoming a doula. So that might boost my opportunity in the area I'd want to be hired.
I am really starting to think nursing is the correct choice here. I'll always have animals in my life. I need something to really support my children should something happen between SO and I.
Hey @stoneycakes ...will that crusty bread work if I only let it rise for 8-ish hours? The recipe says 12-18, but I don't want to eat at midnight
Oh sorry it took me so long to answer this. I honestly don't know. I imagine it would probably be fine if your house is relatively warm, but I've never tried it. I actually usually let it go more like 24 hours because that seems to work better with my schedule.
I just bought DH a diaper! Ok, not really. I M a custom Montreal Canadiens diaper cover from Sassy Cloth and I'm going to give it to DH for his birthday next month (lucky guy!). We're going to a Habs game in November and M will rock out the team cloth.

Lol. Thanks anyway Stoney. I starved to death waiting for you to respond
Wow. Tonight is going to be spectacular. Night #4 of M sleeping in his bed and each night has gotten worse. He's been in there for an hour, has woken up three times and was just awake for 15 minutes. He sits up and looks for me. Cries. I go in and pat his back. He goes right to sleep, but gets up to check for me every few minutes. And he already has my pillow for scent. Mh said "I can try next". Yeah-because you're definitely going to jump up from your video game. Right
@Mandmeesh yikes! I hope M starts to relays and learns to live his new bed soon!
My friend was super excited about getting CDs at her shower. Turns out her LO is sensitive to Pampers. They're having to take their own disposables to the NICU and want to switch to cloth when he gets home.
I think I'm going to have to start taking Mondays off for good. This is the third Monday in a row (b/c last Monday was a holiday) that something has gone wrong with MIL watching the girls.
1st Monday - We had a hand-foot-mouth exposure scare 2nd Monday - MIL called an ambulance for A (it was just a birthmark!) *holiday* (Tuesday was fine) 3rd Monday - R is being taken to Urgent Care for what is probably "nurse maid's elbow"
Seriously, I'm afraid for what next Monday will bring!
Thanks @TJ1979 . She was playing with her 5 yr old cousin who has a habit of pulling her by the arm/wrist. No one saw what happened and her cousin just said she fell. We've cautioned her not to pull on R in the past, for this exact reason. So frustrating
