After not feeding well last night we are doing much better tonight! I have a sleepy eater, anyone have any tips? Half of the time breast feeding is spent keeping her awake!
@sarahsimon I have the same problem! She gets latched on takes a few sips and then falls back asleep! Would love to hear from others if they have any advise on keeping them awake during feedings.
We were on an every-two-hour schedule tonight - 4 feedings total. Debating whether to go to bed now or just stay up (it's 6.30). Anyone have tips for not nodding off to sleep yourself while feeding? I keep doing the head bob!
It's 5am and guess where I am! Anybody got any suggestions on how to get him to sleep when I put him down? We put him in his cradle at 9:30 and he sleeps until his 1:00 feeding and then will Not go back down.

alphaxi614 Do you have a swing he could sleep in instead? I have several friends who swear by it, who say their baby just wouldn't go down in crib/cradle.

Someone on here mentioned putting their feet down first and then their head. I don't know if it works but you could give it a try!

We do have a swing, and he does like it. I wasn't sure if it was OK to let him sleep in it though. Might have to try it if we have another night like the last few.
@IceHide61313 I'll try that tonight. Maybe it will help!

Well, it's after midnight here (almost 1am) and I am unbelievably wide awake. I suppose that's a good thing since I should be working... but I don't want to.
I've got an ultrasound this afternoon and I'm ridiculously excited to see LO on the monitor!
We are up again for the second time tonight. LO is super gassy so it's making it hard for him to fall asleep. He is eating every 2 hours tonight and it has been every 3 hours. I can only hope this is not the new normal.
I'm up, Garrett isn't eating just awake and staring at me. His days and nights are flipped and I cannot keep him awake during the day, but then he's awake at night. Any tips on getting him on track?
I'm getting my membranes swept at 1:30 and feeling pretty anxious about it. I was hoping that I would go into labor and not need to have it done, but if it will work, it's something that I definitely am willing to try. Anyone have a successful sweeping?
*update- they called me yesterday am to say that the dr had an emergency, so I'm rescheduled for 10:30 this am- wish me luck and thanks ladies @GinnyJ2012 and @jzalinski for the positive stories yesterday!
I slept way too long last night. Paying for it now. Also-anyone els's brain sometimes fixate on one thing and that's all they dream about all night long? But it's not restful, I keep dreaming the same thing and waking up. Tonight it's pumping. I taught myself to use my breast pump today. Now apparently it's all I can dream about.
@GinnyJ2012 mobile so I can't see your ticker but my pediatrician said today to not worry about switching them for the first few weeks and then make sure that everything is very bright in the day when they do wake up, lots of talking to them/stimulating them and then at night to keep everything dim and just hold them/feed them but not interact as much. Sort of feel like that's what you do automatically anyway though, you know? So I don't know how much that advise is worth.
I managed to sleep about an hour so far tonight (its 4.30). Sebastian has got his days mixed up too and likes to eat a lot during the night (once an hour almost) and then go longer stretches in the daytime. I really need to learn to sleep when the baby sleeps! He has jaundice so I'm happy he is awake and eats a lot though.
Thank you @Shiva14 ! I am also having the same issue. She has done better tonight with longer stretches between feedings but who knows what the next night will bring.
We cant get our LO to sleep in the bassinet. Going to try the swing as she naps in that during the day.
I also need to sleep when she sleeps especially during the day!!
First ped appt hopefully later today. Shes eating better but I still worry she doesnt get enough.

I had it done at 40 weeks to try and avoid an induction. DS was born 48 hours later. Good luck!
@winterkate I had mine swept the day I had my dd. I was already in the early stages of labor with contractions around 10 apart, but I think it definitely sped things up. I think staying relaxed about it is the main key!
Not night anymore but I haven't slept at all, so it still counts. @sarahsimon, I know what you mean about being worried she is getting enough, has your milk come in yet? Mine came in all the way yesterday and that helped me feel so much more confident. But their tummies are so tiny right now, at 3 days old it can hold an ounce max. So she doesn't need a lot
I'm pissy tonight and my DH is grating on my nerves. After weeks of my ob telling me how big this baby is, and actually freaking me out about it, and pretty much telling me that we'd be scheduling a c/s today because of my history... baby isn't as big as she thought. So no c/s.
I can deal without the surgery. But it was just so nice to have that end date in sight! And now there telling me they won't even CONSIDER inducing until the 25!!!! As in a full 2 weeks overdue.
So I'm miserable, in pinched nerve agony, with no end in sight. I still can't sleep, and I'm just so over everything. It's 2 am, I'm exhausted, and can't fall sleep because I cannot find a comfortable position. I swear, I'll get MORE sleep with a newborn than I do right now. (
Please tell me I'm not the only one!
Good thanks. She was just up for her first night feeding. My nipples are sore so I'm glad she made it quick. Now just hoping she gets back to sleep... Trying right now. I couldn't wait to get home from the hospital because it is impossible to sleep there between the equipment and all of the nurses checks!
Im so miserable tonight. Ive had contractions all day real close together but not close enough for a trip to L&D. I had them 4 minutes apart for about an hour after I started keeping track and I was just about to tell my hubby to pack the kids up so we could go and they stopped for over 20 minutes. My stomach muscled are sore and tired and im over all of this. I want LO out so I can be comfortable, even for a few minutes.
I'll bump this tonight again, lol! DH is being a bed hog tonight and if he doesn't move the f over and get off me, he's sleeping on the couch!
I'm still only 2/3 of the way through an editing job that is due tomorrow, but I just cannot sit at my desk one second longer. My hips feel like their breaking off. I can't win with the desk chair. I sit in a real chair and my back hurts like nothing else. I sit on my ball (yay!!! I found a plug from one of the kids toys that fits!!!), and I feel like my hip is broken. Darn baby hormones that won't hold my bones together enough to not pinch nerves.
@stoofewok good luck! I know it's hard to sleep in the hospital hooked up to a million things and being checked on a million times a night. Hopefully we see you here soon because your being kept up by an outside little one!

I'm awake. It's hard to sleep in a hospital when you have nurses coming in every hour or two. It's 12:30 here, and I don't really even feel tired. Just in a little pain from the C-section.
@Danielle0989 I was so happy to get home for the samr reason! I also think it messed up her days and nights. They kept taking her at night for the different things...shot...hearing screen, etc.
Currently up feeding which this LO is getting much better about though still sleepy at times while eating. Although tonight I was the sleepy one who fell asleep while feeding her! Oops but hey I got some sleep!
Checking in here tonight. It's 3.40 here. LO is hooked up to his biliruben lights and DH and I can't bring ourselves to put him in his crib with it (it tips him on his side too). So we are taking turns holding him tonight.
We all need to get some rest. Tylenol PM, benadryl, unisom... whatever it takes. I woke up because the 22 month old seems to know that something is about to drastically change in how he interacts with Mama and he has been waking around 4am yelling my name until he gets rocked back to sleep. SO... one rocking session and bowl of peanut butter cheerios later, here I am. Going back to bed... may my cervix get ripe and dilated and may all of the rest of you get pain-free, find rest, etc...

Up for the second feeding of the night! I got spoiled the last two nights because LO slept for 3 hour stretches. Tonight it's been 1 and now 3...fingers crossed that he sleeps until 6 after this!
Im seriously thinking about asking them for an Ambien and seeing if they can give me a few hours with uninterrupted sleep. I was *almost* asleep earlier when my nurse came in to check on me.
I'm sure this has been asked before, but any tips on getting a super sleepy newborn to latch for feedings?
Undress, tickle under chin, run a wet washcloth along their face. Saying "For the love of God just wake up and eat!" does not actually work unfortunately.

She is a master nurser already though and is demanding to be on a boob at all times... good for her, bad for my nipples and uterine cramps... ouch!!!
She is so beautiful though; I could just stare at her all night, and I likely will be doing that with no sleep.

I'm know I did way too much today. I'm guessing that's why I'm hurting.
Or mean....
Eta: not about this thread. Just while catching up on the daily randoms.
MOTN posting could get dangerous.
@stoofewok I hope things go well with your induction and you can get some rest tonight!
