We are in DH's hometown for a wedding. DH is in it so I'm hanging out with the inlaws until the wedding starts. I'm pissed off. FIL just kicked my dog because he said she and his dog were fighting. Umm...no they weren't, you dropped a piece of food on the ground for your dog and kicked my dog when she ran to try and get it. That's not a fight, that's what dogs do and I so not appreciate you kicking her because we do not treat our dogs that way. I don't know why he always has to act like a barbarian.
Then I watched him eat corn on the cob and it was like watching a cave man pick raw meat off a bone or something. Ewww.

I need some A14 suggestions. I suck at decorating my home and I don't put much effort/money into it since we move every few years. Anyways, we have one long room (dining and living room). I want to get a throw rug for each since the carpet is grimy and LO will be rolling around on it. My question is, do I get matching rugs for each room? Or different ones to differentiate the two "rooms?"
LO has refused to nap today. She was chillin in her swing, not napping, and started to get more fussy, so I picked her up to discover a blowout all over the swing and baby. No wonder she wouldn't nap! Now she's passed out on me
Tried out the tula, boba, and ergo today. He hated all of them. I guess we will get the ergo 360 because he likes to face out. I'm glad I went in to try them on first and didn't waste all that money on one he would have hated.
Got a baby play center for $20 at Once Upon a Child! LO loves it!
Also a stack of baby clothes and books, including a super adorable sweater vest for this wedding in two weeks. Complete with purple shirt and clip on tie!

I really need to go there this week. I want to get a bouncer or playmat or both to stay at my mom's cuz she'll be watching DD once a week, but I don't want to spend real money on it.

I went to the liquor store to get some rum. I got to the counter and the cashier tells me the larger bottle is only $4 more so I was like "Sure, give it to me!!". It is a freaking jug, with a handle and everything. So much rum. So anyways, who is drinking with me tonight! ?
Having an anxiety attack over here. Trying to break the swaddle and use the ferber method to get LO to sleep. This is so terrible. He is taking his swaddle and rock n play to college. DH and I are both weak.

We're weak too. Cora is going to be sleeping in bed with me until she gets married I think.
@ambarnett1 it'll happen and you can do it! We all said that someday DS1's wife would have to swaddle him every night. G just moved into his bed this week. One night, he would scream and arch his back if I put him in the RnP. Don't stress, you can do it
Thanks @dani+california and @KendraColeslaw! Hopefully I can find something in this tiny town! Hah. Anyone know of a website with decent prices?
I don't know the quality of these rugs, but it was recommended by another A14er to go to rugsusa.com and I think the prices are great (I'm also looking for a rug). When our babies start walking around making big messes, I don't want a super extravagant one ruined.
I ordered rugs from rugsusa.com for our bedroom and the nursery. You definitely get what you pay for, quality-wise. The striped rug is holding up ok but the patterned rug sheds and is falling apart. I've had the rugs for 6 months.

Mother effer. I watch LO all week without a break, look forward to the weekend to get a small break, and get stuck watching her while everyone does stuff. I finally leave to pick up dinner and get a call to come home ASAP because she won't stop screaming. Really? REALLY?!
@JessieAlbin, I totally thought of you talking about parents letting their kids eat off of gross tables last time we went out with the kids. The toddler licked the table almost from one end to the other before I could grab him to stop it.
X_X and ) He's gonna have such a strong immune system though, eh? The germophobe in me is already dying a little on the inside over Sullivan's inevitable mobility and propensity to put all the things in his mouth, and touch all the things and then eat his fingers. Gah, kids are gross!

We are on night 3 of no swaddle and no Rock N Play (gasp!) First night, SO caved in and brought LO back into our room in the RNP at 3AM. Last night she just woke up once, although I was up several times being all anxious. Praying for a repeat of last night, except maybe with less awakenings and less crazy hamster brain on my part!
Mission no swaddle and RNP was a half fail. After 4 hours of not sleeping more than 30 mins we put the swaddle back on. He slept okay after that. Idk how to wean from the swaddle. He won't sleep without it. I'm at a total loss.
Kiddo went through a thankfully brief phase where he was licking the bottom of his shoes "just to taste them"....

Ha! We no longer trust the "well" waiting room at the dr since my husband ran out to get something from the car and saw a kid from the "sick" waiting room licking the exit door handle while his mom checked them in! He ran back and coated us with sanitizer. (It was our 1 week check up- you can imagine the paranoia!)

My poor, poor kiddo. We are throwing every kind of curveball his way and he is taking it like a champ. We ditched the swaddle, RNP, moved him to his own room, and put him in his PNP all simultaneously. Naps are kind of a disaster (always have been) but his night sleep has been a tad better. This week we may move him to the crib if we get the mattress.
Earthquake was centered in my hometown. My mom's business is completely ruined. T&Ps for everyone please....from what I understand there are a lot of injuries and the damage is extensive..
That is awful! I saw this on the news! I'm glad you are ok and I hope your moms business recovers. My hopes are that there are few if any fatalities.

@joytomylifex I'm sorry! I would be so frustrated.
Now I need to think of a good totem...
