Re: Longest Thread EVER! (aka Random Thoughts Thread )

  • Nothing is more infuriating than when you are trying to deep clean your house because you're having 30 people over next weekend and you both work full time so it has to get done this weekend...and your husband won't stop playing video games while you clean and beg for help. Grrr. DH has been playing video games for the past two hours. I know he needs a break after the work week but this party was his idea and he only contributes to messes and never helps clean them. Normally I don't really care that he doesn't help clean but with DS our productivity hours are limited to when he is sleeping. Plus we have a living room to paint today so we are VERY limited on cleaning time.

Sorry for the rant. DH is usually awesome but have I mentioned how much I hattteeee video games....I did throw a little temper tantrum and that seemed to help. I wish I didn't have to act like a 6 year old to get some help though....

  • @3crazykitties‌ hugs. DH and I have been at odds since DS was born. It spiraled out of control the other night and we both said some terrible things. It's really a terrible feeling to not have things worked out and having them sit for a while. I hope things get better and you all are able to talk it out.

  • I've become a lurker and I hate it, but the holidays are the craziest time at work. I'm stopping by to say I don't trust anyone not in RTT. That's my late Friday confession that I'm only sharing with you all. Like, why? Why wouldn't you be here? It's suspect.

Haha as someone who has only joined RTT in the past few months I'll give you my perspective for holding out. I would find it too overwhelming to come on at the end of the day and see 189 new posts so I wouldn't bother. But now since the rest of the board sucks I mostly ignore everything else and focus my energy here.
  • Congrats, MrsW! So exciting!

DD swallowed a little jewel thing while playing in the bathtub. Do I just need to watch her and assume she'll poop it out?

It was probably half an inch long at its longest point.

  • @Ooopsbaby14‌ I love that dress, she looks beautiful!

@ambarnett1‌ I read on the wonder weeks app that babies can have nightmares now, maybe that was it? Sounds scary!

@MrsStanton87‌ there seems to be a Diet Coke with Splenda, but I've never looked for it in the store, so I'm not sure if it's widely available.
They carry it pretty widely.  Aspertame is one of my migraine triggers so that's the only diet soda I really drink.

  • I second Zevia. I'll be honest in saying coke is yummier but this stuff isn't bad. I gave up pop all together now but I used to drink it more a few years back.

I don't think my buddy liked her pre-gift.

    Pre-gift?!?
Lol, I'm so busy with work and sick baby that stuff keeps getting in the way of me making onsies. So because they like camo I sent camo colored rubber duckies as a " I didn't forget about you but didn't want to miss the deadline" gift and my actual gift is late.
Sitting here in my camo jacket hoping this isn't directed at me... I've been checking my mail diligently and haven't found anything yet, so hopefully it's not me!
  • WWA14 do? I'm hosting a holiday party for my group of mom friends and their families (we were all in the same Midwife group together during our pregnancy). LO woke up with a runny nose this morning. No other symptoms - no fever, happy and playing, nothing yucky in his chest. I was figuring that if he still had a runny nose tomorrow, I could just wear him in our ring sling during the party so that he wouldn't contaminate the other babies and clean all the toys super well so that there aren't residual germs. DH and I are fine.

Should I send an email out to everyone letting them know today or tomorrow? Do you think people wouldn't want to come?

Hosting a party with a baby is a whole new ballgame.

A14 Siggy Challenge (November): Favorite Fall Smell

  • DH watched DS as I cleaned litter boxes. When I came back DH was asleep and DS was eating a handful of canned cat food. :-&

This is horrible and funny. The worst part is going to be the cat food smelling baby...oh yea, and the massive BM that will follow. @-)
  • Ryver is no longer lip tied. She was standing and fell and tore that frenulum. Blood everywhere.

    Yikes! Hope she's ok!

    Also, congrats @MrsW26‌!

I kind of wonder if this happened to me at some point.  I have a knotted scar there.

Good thing you're a nurse.  I'd have been losing my mind over the blood.  I'd be no help in a catastrophe (or small accident).

    Congrats @MrsW26!!!
  • @3crazykitties‌ and @tlp2558‌ it was a stage 4 tie but the LC said it didn't need correction as long as it wasn't hurting me to nurse. I should totally do those stretches on it though. Like all head injuries there's more blood than you'd expect for the size of the wound, right?

Ryver's doing good, no more bleeding. But for the life of me I can't figure out what she hit it on. Unless she clipped it with her solo bottom tooth? Not sure that's even possible.

One of my former students (toddler) tore his frenulum and his parents wanted to take him to the ER. My boss convinced them that amount of blood was normal for that sort of injury. As for DS, his latch has gotten all wonky now that he has teeth. I saw a LC last week and we should just get an evaluation done. DH wants it done for the potential dental/speech issues. I am on the fence because the nursing issue isn't too bad.
Has he gotten just bottom teeth or are these top teeth?

Bottom teeth. His latch seems shallow so his upper lip is getting tucked. @tlp2558‌ a bad enough lip tie can cause a gap between the two front teeth, which in turn causes over crowding and then braces are needed.
Thankfully DS's tongue covers the bottom teeth for comfort. Although he bites me from time to time right after ear infection meds because he's feeling pissy (I'd be pissy too, that medicine tastes like crap).

@smushi‌ Is it amoxicillin? I remember that stuff tasting like bubblegum and liking it as a kid.
We've had amoxicillin 3 times now.  It's Augmentin (much stronger) and it tastes terribly.  :(  It's like killing him to get him to take it.  The hardest part is getting him to swallow the entire dose, rather than spitting what he can out.

When I was a kid I remember my. Mom putting warm olive oil in my ear when we had ear infections. It helped the pain & discomfort @mamrotu73‌

@edoliesmom‌ YGPM back @smushi‌ Can you mix it in a bottle? I guess he might refuse the whole bottle then. But that is how I get A to take his vitamins if he keeps spitting it out. 2 hours after his normal bedtime, A is finally asleep!
Due to my lipase issue, I have no frozen milk available to even try it out on.  So we do the 'fish hook' method.  He screams and throws a fit the whole time.  It's awful.  Then I try to throw a boob in his mouth to get him to swallow the rest instead of spitting it out, and he typically bites that first latch.  Jerk.  But what can I say?

I'm sorry your A is going through this.  We're on infection number 5 (double ear #2), and bedtime has been awful this week.  Lots of ear rubbing, screaming when put into the crib, tylenol, long nights, snotty nose, etc.  Yuck!

I'm going to vent for a minute about my cousin. She's a lesbian and married. She's pregnant and due in February. They just announced her wife is pregnant too and due in June. Obviously this was very planned. This just seems like it's gunna be all kinds of trouble.

This sounds like a terrible idea. They don't seem to have thought this through very well...

  • RDR made a good point but God damn! That is kinda nuts. Could they have possibly inseminated both and only expected one to be successful
