@Gingermom15 Our cats don’t tend to get in baby’s crib or bassinet. But when we had trouble with one of them always getting on the counter we used a spray bottle with the stream setting. Give them a little spritz when they are getting in the bassinet or sniffing around it even. Cats will learn pretty quickly to stay away.
I haven’t tried this yet but we are going to set the crib and bassinet up early and cover them with double sided tape to try to train our enormous cat to avoid going in them. One of my friends found success with putting a cat bed under her crib, too, so her cat has a defined place to rest in the room.
@Gingermom15 I have a bassinet that has a mesh dome that you zip up. We have 2 cats and I was very nervous about them wanting to sleep with baby. It's worked amazing with both of my kids and gave me peace of mind without having to lock the cats out of our room. My one cat is quite the a-hole and will sit there all night yelling and clawing at the carpet, lol.
@emmaliz12 Starting to see a sliiight bump at 16wks, especially at night. I read that the baby is going to double in size in the next 2wks though, so you’ll probably start to see a noticeable difference by 18wks!!
I know someone mentioned feeling abdominal pain akin to doing too much ab work at the gym... is anyone else experiencing other sore/tired muscles in muscle groups you're not really working? My legs feel like I've done 100 squats, and I haven't done a squat in over two months!
I just ordered a burger from Five Guys and I was STARVING, and I just inhaled most of it before noticing that it was slightly pink on the inside. Should I be worried??
Any other moms craving nothing but sugar and feeling extremely guilty about it. I’m worried about gestational diabetes but it feels like my cravings are in control lol. I’ve already gained 17 pounds and I’m only 14 weeks pregnant. These cravings are out of control
Only 16 weeks and already that nesting instinct is coming in. It feels like the weeks are starting to fly by faster now that I’m into the second trimester. Anyone else?
We have been talking about the formula shortage and with our plan to breastfeed I was winding has anyone ever starting pumping before baby arrived? With my oldest my milk came in around 7 months and leaked EVERYWHERE. Also has anyone ever used milk savers? Are they worth the purchase?
@baby-h2022 do you mean colostrum or milk? It would be very unusual for mature milk to come in prior to birth since it responds to the removal of the placenta. I haven't collected colostrum but I'm thinking about doing it this time since my kids both struggled with putting on weight at the beginning and I wound up staying in the hospital longer than would have been necessary otherwise (although I'm thinking of just straight up telling the pediatrician that we're not staying for that since I know it seems to be a pattern)

I am craving sweets too, I almost exclusively ate fruit for the first few weeks becaus eit was all i could tolerate with sorning sickness. Currently 13w6d. I avoid processed sweets because I had hormonal fluid bloating of 8lbs between week 3 and 4 and I don't want to gain abnormally. I have found ways to curb the cravings while avoiding processed sweets like adding dried cranberries(no sugar added) to my salads, snacking on fruit being cautious of portion sizes, and filling up on foods that have the highest nutrient density and health benefits for baby development and water before I allow myself snacks. Don't deprive yourself, just don't eat out of the bag/carton. Scoop a portion and go sit somewhere quiet where you can fully enjoy your treat.
Any moms out there been pregnant and had covid? I am surrounded by positive cases, much like in January, and am freaking out that I am so much more susceptible.
@ponyoisfun not myself, but several of my coworkers have and a few have given birth prematurely but after 32 weeks. With the numbers increasing, it is scary! I’m a slacker and haven’t gotten my booster yet but plan to this Friday.
@ponyoisfun I haven’t had covid while pregnant, but my mom was pregnant (at 42) and got covid in 2020. She had a totally normal and healthy pregnancy and birth and my brother is completely healthy
@ponyoisfun ugh I know the feeling. One of my students just tested positive last night after being in my class the day before. No mask and coughing. I even had to tell her to cover her mouth when she coughed because she was coughing right next to/behind me. Only about 5-10% of students wear masks and for some dumb reason I haven’t been either. I wore one today and will the the of the week (last week ) I’ve had 2 Covid shots and got omicron over Christmas so 🤞🏼🤞🏼 Maybe I’ll be ok.
Covid is going crazy by me again. My oldest has two more days of school and I’m just holding my breath. My mom just had it and thankfully we didn’t get it even though we were with her quite a bit before she tested positive. My sil just had it for the second time and my other brother and sil also had it. I had it in October of 2020 but that seems like a lifetime ago. Sending all of us all the healthy vibes.
@baby-h2022 I'm prone to them anyways and have had them every pregnancy. When I had my son I had the worst infection I've ever had, it lasted weeks and weeks and I was in agony, felt like a million paper cuts on my lady bits. But the only thing you can use is the cream =/ I slathered that stuff on day and night until it went away

I had covid around my 14.5 week mark recently. Definitely not pleasant but I didn’t spike a fever and both my OB and primary care doc told me there was little, to no reason to be concerned. My case (mostly sore throat/congestion/headaches) knocked me on my behind for almost 3 full days but because I didn’t experience shortness of breath, low oxygen etc., my symptoms were considered mild.
The silver lining of it all may be that baby has some good antibodies with my combo of fully vaccinated + boosted (only once so far, I’m not eligible for the 2nd yet) + positive case.
It’s scary for sure but I was reassured by all of my health care providers that there was very minimal risk to baby. My 16w check in (post Covid) showed all signs of a healthy babe.
Are any of you ladies in maternity clothing yet?? I'm 17 weeks on tomorrow and still in all of my regular clothes. Some things I've had to say, ok, that's a little too snug but for the most part I've been able to be in all of my clothing I've always worn
@jayc21 I'm 18 weeks today and pretty much exclusively in maternity clothes. Very few of my regular clothes fit, with the exception of some loose tops and flowy dresses.
@jayc21 17.5 wks and I’m in that awkward phase where I’m not really in maternity clothes but some of my normal clothes are uncomfortable. I’ve been wearing flowy dresses and my less-tight pants and I’ve been unbuttoning my pants in the evenings lol. I think I’m going to need to actually switch over soon though.
@jayc21 17.5 weeks and I can still wear my regular clothes, but there are some things (shirts) that are starting to not fit properly. I wear a lot of flowy stuff and stretchy stuff anyways, so there's actually not a lot in my closet I won't be able to wear all the way through

@jayc21 I am a little over 16 weeks and am still in my regular clothes too. But have been mostly wearing dresses and leggings due to the weather. I’m hoping to be able to wear most of my summer dresses throughout the pregnancy and then back to leggings when It starts to get cold again. But we shall see lol.
18 weeks here and I just pulled out my maternity clothes. I can still fit in a few pairs of my normal shorts/jeans but have outgrown certain pairs. I'm in that awkward phase like @manta_ray where my normal clothes are getting too small but my maternity clothes are too big. Really struggling over here lol I always feel like a mess.
Almost 17 weeks here. I'm still mostly wearing my regular clothes, but I did buy some maternity leggings/workout tanks. I started wearing those around 13/14 weeks, just because I had them and my other workout shorts have tighter waist bands. They're definitely big on me, but I'm mostly at home so it doesn't matter that much. I don't have a lot of tight clothes in general, so I'll probably wear a mix of both regular and maternity all the way through.
I’m 16 weeks and feeling really heavy in my pelvic area. Almost like there is a weight on my bladder. It feels better when I pee but it’s like a constant heavy weight.
Not an antidepressant- but I take lamotrigine (used to treat bipolar disorder) and the only concern, as with any medication, is the chance of the baby suffering withdrawal. This looks different for all medications, in general it’s not dangerous or harmful. my midwife has been very informative and helpful. Pros vs cons are weighed, anyone unmedicated suffering depression, anxiety, bipolar etc is very much as risk for postpartum depression/psychosis. At the end of the day it’s all about your well being and what’s safest for baby congratulations !! ♥️
I’m 18 weeks and maternity clothes are fitting me better at this point. Still wearing some “regular” clothes, but by regular I mean exclusively stretchy or loose fitting leggings and tops. My tops are starting to be awkward on me tho and not meeting the top of the leggings so I just bought some maternity tanks. Also some of my panties are getting quite tight in the hips at this point. I just bought a pair of Lululemon align shorts as well, and those have been quite nice
17 weeks and definitely leaning into maternity stuff. I have a pair of pants and a pair of shorts that still "fit" but I know it is only a matter of time... I have a bunch of stuff from a friend who gave birth in March, but most of her pregnancy was fall/winter, so there is a lot that I'll be saving until the cooler months.
@ponyoisfun the day I turned a pregnancy test positive I also tested positive for Covid. I wasn't feeling any pregnancy symptoms yet, so I can't speak to feeling any kind of way (just regular, covid crummy). My ob also wasn't too concerned. Like a previous poster said, plus side is the baby has those antibodies! The only extra thing my ob is doing is adding an additional growth scan after 30 weeks. I have chronic hypertension, so I get regular ultrasounds anyways, but the bonus is nice!
