@bex_and_her_baby welcome! I have a 10/4 son too, but a different year. Yay for a good ultrasound! My words of advice as an AL person is not to worry until you have to. Try to enjoy your pregnancy as much as you can today bc if/once you do get bad news its impossible not to be anxious
Hi everyone! I am straddling June/July 2021, I hope it's okay I am here .
Due date? I think July 1 or 2. I am having an ultrasound in the next week or so to confirm.
How did you find out? *TW* I had a loss in July of this year and was still going to get bloodwork done every couple of weeks to make sure my hCG levels were going back to normal. I was at 2, and then 41 at my next draw. I am still a little in shock.
Tell us about yourself: I live on the east coast of Canada. H and I have been married for 6 and a half years, together for 11. We have one daughter who is 2.5. H is a firefighter and I am a legal assistant.
First appointment? Any symptoms? I had a blood draw last week to confirm pregnancy, and I will have my first prenatal appointment on Friday. I also will have an ultrasound in the next couple of weeks.
I am tired, and was sick for the first time this morning...right on schedule lol!
Last BMB we had a thread for Canadian moms since we e have some different stuff with maternity leave and even different car seats etc. Might be time to get one going!
@sugarcoateddonut I’m also Canadian 🙂 I live on the westcoast of Canada. I also had a loss this July too. so sorry for your loss.
I'm so sorry for your loss as well!
My parents live on the westcoast. I really wanted to fly out this summer with my daughter but with the self-isolation rules here I would have needed almost a month off.
Last BMB we had a thread for Canadian moms since we e have some different stuff with maternity leave and even different car seats etc. Might be time to get one going!
Due date? according to LMP it’s 6/30/20 but will be having an ultrasound around 8 weeks for dating as my periods have always been variable
How did you find out?
This was our first cycle TTC and it took 9+ months of active TTC with both our other pregnancies so I figured it would take that long or longer this time. Only took a test because I figured CD1 was just around the corner. Shocked to see a positive that soon!
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?)
we have 2 DDs, oldest is 8 and the baby is a year and a half. Been married for 10 years, together for 13.5. I work part time as a medical assistant for an OB provider, H has his journeyman’s card as a tool maker.
First appointment? Any symptoms?
first appointment with the doc isn’t until December, but needs to schedule my ultrasound and get my labs completed. I already had a nurse telephone call last week.
so far no real symptoms other than exhaustion and insomnia. Oh and super nose! I didn’t get morning sickness with either of my other pregnancies so I’m really hoping that holds with this one too!
@sugarcoateddonut, @kristah2, @mindyb2019 also a fellow Canadian but I live abroad currently. Hardcore missing Canada lately though since I haven’t been able to visit in 2020 due to covid. 😭😭😭 and now with the pregnancy, not looking like I’ll make it for another year.
How did you find out? We had been trying for 8 months and I had just visited the doctor to get my thyroid/hormone levels tested. I felt "off" and took a test, easy as that! (ugh not really)
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) I have a 2 year old son and a cat Sunshine (and a husband) I work as a librarian at a university, but I'm working from home right now due to COVID and it's actually been great during the first trimester. I've never actually participated in a board before, just lurked on a couple, so I'm throwing myself out here a bit. I'm terrified of messing up the questions and the abbreviations.
First appointment? Any symptoms? First appointment was October 26th, everything checked out. I have been more nauseous this time around, so that's been catching me off guard.
Due date? I'm guessing 6/27 based on when I think conception was.
How did you find out? Af was a week late, but I'm 9m PP, and cycles are wonky, so I decided I wait until 2 weeks late to test. In the meantime, I started feeling pretty nauseous. Tested yesterday morning and bfp.
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?)
DH and I just celebrated our 5th anniversary two weeks ago! We live outside of Pittsburgh. We have 3 kids already, DS (just turned 4), DD (2.5), and DS (9 months). All three kids were born on the 10th of a month, so even though I'm due late June, I'm penciling in 7/10 for the actual arrival 😂 I currently work part-time as a communications coordinator for my church, but I'll be putting in my resignation soon (one of my 3 reasons to quit was "next pregnancy") and just be a SAHM. DH and I are also currently trying to move further out of the city, buy some land, and homestead. We'll see how this pregnancy affects those plans, but I have a feeling that by the time this baby is born, we'll have land and chickens.
First appointment? Any symptoms? No appt. I haven't even thought about calling yet. I'll get around to it eventually. I've had pretty bad morning (all day) sickness most of the week, that's about it...but I'm also not entirely in tune with what's a pregnancy symptom and what's a "stop biting my boob" symptom right now 😂
@KristinUM12 - I have a 9 month old too, and I feel you on "stop biting my boob!" She just got her 5th tooth, and it's not fun for mama. Welcome and congratulations!
Due date? 6/25 but it will be a RCS so probably earlier in real life
How did you find out? This was SUPER planned so I was (im)patiently waiting to POAS for weeks 🤣
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?)
I am an elementary math coach (and yes I like Common Core so don't come for it with me 😅) in North Carolina. Currently working from my dining room table as I have been since March! My husband also works from home, but that's not pandemic-related, his job is a WFH job. We have a daughter who just turned 3! (O17)
First appointment? Any symptoms? I had a pregnancy confirmation appt last week but my first ultrasound is 11/16. I have high anxiety so of course I'm super nervous. But the fact that I've been horribly sick for 2 weeks now is helping ease that anxiety.
Hi Everyone, so happy to be here and I have enjoyed reading all of your introductions!
Due date? 6/20
How did you find out? We were TTC so I took a test a few days early and it was positive. We are so excited!
Tell us about yourself: I am married with two daughters ages 5 and 3. I am excited to tell them and watch them both be great big sisters. I work from home as a forecast analyst for a CPG company that makes health and beauty care items. I like my job but it has been stressful lately.
First appointment? Any symptoms? My first ultrasound was on 11/3 where I got to see the heartbeat and confirm the due date. *TW* I was very nervous after two losses, so I welcomed the relief with open arms. I am sicker this pregnancy than I have ever been. I'm nauseous all the time and I also feel like I have the flu, but without the fever, cough, congestion. I just feel very weak and have a hard time getting comfortable to even sleep. I am hoping this is a first trimester thing and it's over in a few weeks.
Hello! I lurked back with my last pregnancy and might not be as active with this one either but figured I'd go ahead and join!
Due date? June 23rd, unless that changes at my next appointment
How did you find out? Tested a few days before missed period and got a negative. Tested again the day AF was due at got a pretty solid positive!
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) I have one boy who is 2.5 (April 2018). Prior to him I had an ectopic & chemical, and we'd been trying a year. I was super surprised when this one took the first month we tried. I'm a wedding & family photographer, although getting ready to make the transition to phase out weddings at least until my littles are bigger. My husband travels a lot for work internationally so it's a challenge to juggle it all!
First appointment? Any symptoms? I had a super pointless appointment at 6w, still not sure why they even wanted me to come in because I literally did nothing but pee in a cup and chat with my midwife. Would have had my first "real" appointment this week (8w) for dating ultrasound and pap - but I pushed it off until 10w because they wanted me to come back at 10w for the NIPT and I told them I'd just rather do it all at one appointment. My doctors office is over an hour away, so three trips back to back and arranging a babysitter for my toddler was just a hassle.
I found out right at 4w, and I'm currently 8w2d. The first 1-2 weeks I after I got a positive I felt normal other than sore breasts. Since then I've definitely had many days of feeling like crap. Nauseous, tons of food aversions where NOTHING sounds good, headaches, tired, etc. Thankfully I haven't been at the vomiting point yet but I was not sick at all with my last pregnancy so this is an unwelcome difference..lol.
Hi everyone! A little late to the game but I wasn’t sure my due date. I just had my first appointment and I found out I am 9 weeks due June 25. This will be baby#4. I found out because I had some old tests and it was close to my period starting so I just took them and a faint line kept showing up and here I am 😬 I also have a 5,4, and 1 year old. I also have 2 dogs and 2 cats so we have a full house. I work in manufacturing and at home right now due to Covid. I enjoy sports, being outside with my dogs and kids and trips to target and Dunkin’ for iced coffee 😂 however, the nausea and exhaustion has kicked in so nothing sounds good right now. Looking forward to this journey with everyone!
Late to the game but a friend just told me about this app!
Due date? 6/29
How did you find out?
Pregmate sticks, right before work, 5 days before my period was supposed to happen! I couldn’t really believe those faint lines meant I was pregnant, so I waited 3 more days to tell the husband!
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) I am a psychologist living in the Bay Area, CA. My husband is a filmmaker, and we have two dogs and two cats. With this pandemic, we spend a lot of time at home baking or using our peloton bike. It’s a nice balance. 🤷🏼♀️
First appointment? Any symptoms? First appointment was 11/11, and it was so beautiful to see the heartbeat at 7 weeks! We have a follow up appointment 12/11, and I am so nervous and excited.
I feel like I’m having a fairly stereotypical pregnancy: morning sickness (no vomiting yet but it’s been close), ever changing food aversions, super nose, headaches, sore breasts, bloating, fatigue (not sure how I do 10 hour days...), and crying for the most random reasons. Sometimes I have these moments where I realize I’m similar to and over tired toddler. I’ve also had IBS flare ups after 3 years of having everything under control, which I was not expecting.
I, too, am rather late to the party, but figured better late than never.
Due date? June 25
How did you find out? I was on vacation with my husband in late October and realized that none of the tampons that I had brought with me had been utilized. We were not actively trying to conceive, so when we got back to the states, we stopped at a pharmacy and bought a pregnancy test and it came back affirmative.
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets? Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) No children, no pets, no responsibilities. After reading all of these comments from all of these positive and excited mothers-to-be, I feel like the outlier here. My reaction was, and continues to be, one of "not happy.". It's hard to admit that, but I am 37 years old with a kickass career and life, and frankly, have always enjoyed being the "child-free" couple. If it weren't for my husband's excitement, and my teeny, tiny desire to pass on DNA, I don't know that I would keep it. Why am I here, bringing down you lovely ladies during this joyous time of your live, you may ask? Hoping to find inspiration to want to do this thing called motherhood.
First appointment? Any symptoms? Had confirmation appointment a couple of week ago where they did an ultrasound and I think everything was fine. No real symptoms, other than fatigue, but that is mostly due to the fact that I can no longer take my medication for narcolepsy (rough).
Hopefully not too much of a downer, and all that to say, nice to meet everyone.
@kfc1983 do not feel guilt for not feeling like some of the others here. Everyone responds to pregnancy in a different way. When you meet your baby, your feelings will probably be different. I'm already a mom to two and we tried for them, but I was still lacking that really excited feeling throughout my pregnancies. Also, this time around, I was preparing for our third and final baby and was very surprised to find out we are having twins. I'm super scared and still adjusting to the idea that we are going to have 4 children and I just don't feel super excited about it yet.
Wow, thank you, @mrs_massie for the words of encouragement. I guess that is just what I was looking for in joining this group! We can be unexcited together? Also - I am a twin myself, so while I was definitely relieved to find out there was only one in there, I have a special place in my heart for you and the twins that you are carrying. For what it's worth.
@kfc1983 don’t worry. I am in that group of not feeling the most excited as well. I have 3 amazing babies that we tried for and we did always want a 4th baby close in age to our 3rd. However, I’m over being pregnant and the nausea. We weren’t actively trying for number 4 so it’s a surprise baby too. The idea of 4 kids with the age gaps we have sounds better as a plan in my head than in reality so I haven’t been as excited yet as well.
@kfc1983 another +1 on the not so excited train. I already have 2 kids who are my world. We were going back and forth about whether or not to have a 3rd but we were trying to prevent but I was having problems with birth control and here we are. I cried for 2 days solid after I found out. I’m almost 14 weeks and coming around to it now but I still haven’t told many people.
On top of navigating feelings there’s so many hormones. Feel your feelings, girl. There no right way to take the news.
I'm a lurking May BMB. @mrs_massie Been thinking of coming over here but have never quite made the desicion. But my recent due date says I may be June, so I'm here for the Canadian moms thread. 🍁
Due date? One app said June 1st, but my LMP indicated May 25. I had an US Nov 21st and the fetal size was at 12w not 13w3d so my date was moved to June 6th. My first baby was c-section and its looking like I'm high risk so birth at 39w will put me into May. We shall see.
How did you find out? My period is very punctual. So, one missed day is enough to send me dreaming. Took a home test, which I completely ruined, and the second came out positive. Then for good measure had a blood test a couple of weeks later.
Tell us about yourself - Other children/pets? DS 14 months. My husbands side are pets lovers, so we will probably get one, but we have a really new house and don't have a fence yet. The cat stays at my MIL's house. - Job? High school bio teacher, but as of this year SAHM, (practically as of covid, strange timing) - Things you like to do? Read, handicraft (crocheting, knitting, etc), piano (need to baby proof my keyboard) - Spouse? married Dec 2018
First appointment? Nov 13th, first US Nov 21st Any symptoms? low key pregnancy. A little nausea and food aversions if I eat too fast. Only recognized the sensitive breasts because of a breast-feeding toddler. Thought he was being unkind at first, then realized it was the pregnancy over-exaggerating the pain. Plan on tandem feeding if it comes to that.
How did you find out? Fist missed period took a test. It said pregnant
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) my name is Ty I am married 1year anniversary was in November. I have a son he’s 7, I am a LPN ( licensed practical nurse) I work with geriatrics and pediatrics. Things I used to enjoy...food I have major aversions. Pre Covid we enjoyed being outside, enjoying activities with my son, Going on dates.
First appointment? Any symptoms? Coming this December. Symptoms are food aversions healthy food cravings nausea all day. headaches from time to time bloating. Just wanting to get over the hump of morning sickness. Very supportive husband
@kfc1983 hi from the initially not so excited club. We have 2 kids and hubs had a vasectomy in 2018. That’s how done we were.... but he never went in for his follow ups and here we are 🤷🏻♀️ I definitely cried a lot that first day. Now I’m coming around to the idea and I like buying baby things. But hubs isn’t that connected to this pregnancy which definitely makes it harder and we’re busy with every day life with 2 other kids in a pandemic. So solidarity, friend. Welcome!
How did you find out? Took a pregnancy test and it came back positive right away.
Tell us about yourself: I live in the suburbs of Chicago. My husband and I have been married for about a year and a half.
First appointment? Any symptoms? I had two appointments and two ultrasounds so far. I have had fatigue, smell aversions, nausea (that has gone away mostly), forgetfulness (already!, oh geeze), lots of anxiety, mood swings and depression :(
@kfc1983 and others. Yep, me too, but for a different reason. I'm not unhappy, just numb. I wish I could be excited and jump for joy but just not feeling it. I have no other kids and this is all Ive ever wanted. I've been told that a pregnancy where you're just like "meh" can change when you give birth like day and night. I hope so, for all of us. Besides, you can still have your kickass career and be a mom. Lots of people do it! Welcome
Chiming in for @kfc1983 and those in similar spots!
tw: may be sensitive for those with fertility struggles
it took me some time to cope with this pregnancy, as well. We have 3 kids and we were d-o-n-e. H had a vasectomy scheduled for around Christmas and we were combining methods only to find out I was pregnant with #4! Pregnancy has always been rough on me and this one was no exception, so that made it harder. I saw my u/s at 7 weeks and was like, okay cool. But mostly meh. It wasn’t until I saw baby wriggle on Vscan that i was like “okay, we can really enjoy this”. And it’s a process. It’s different for everyone, every time. My 1st I immediately bonded the second I knew I was pregnant, my 2nd took a while... when we found out the sex actually, and my 3rd was also a little touch and go. But I love those girls more than anything and know that they are a part of me and vis versa. It doesn’t matter how or when I got there, but I did. I’m sorry you’re feeling the meh and can’t wait for you to feel the wheeeeee! It will come, but let yourself feel whatever you’re need to feel in the mean time.

@kfc1983 It's for a very different reason, but I'm also just not "feeling" it yet. Not upset, just numb...and we planned for this pregnancy. Even in the moments where I have been happy, I've also felt kind of sad for what we'll (presumably) be giving up. We have a great life together, with lots of travel and going out (pre-COVID, naturally), and my career is also in a really awesome place. Even small stuff, like the fact that it'll be harder to sleep in (or sleep at all?) for a while, have a lazy day, or be a bit spontaneous. We want kids, very much, but I have wondered at times if it's really worth the struggle and tradeoff.
So, long way of saying: you're not alone. Even my mother told me that she didn't really feel that excited until after I was born which, if you know her, is totally shocking.
@akoros I’ve been struggling coming to terms with the changes that are going to happen in my husbands and my life too. We have lived a pretty charmed dual-income-no-kids life for awhile now, and while we really want kids I’m scared about how our long enjoyed freedoms will change and how that will affect our relationship. Not going to lie, I’ve had a few “my life is oooover” crying breakdowns, but I’m going to blame that on hormones for now. One thing that has made me more excited for life with a new family member is talking about all the things we CAN do with kids, and places we’ve traveled that are kid friendly. We’ve already talked extensively about how we want to take the baby (preferably a toddler at this point) to Munich, push a stroller through the English Gardens, pretzels at the beirgarden, etc. Thinking about mixing our former life with our future life makes me excited, something to look forward to as a family!
@ashleyjillian15 That's a really great approach! You're right, DINK life is pretty sweet, but there are definitely positives to having a little one. The idea of introducing them to everything is exciting. There are all sorts of neighborhood events here that we don't really take advantage of, but would be *so* fun with a child. Fwiw, my parents traveled more after I was born than they did the twelve years prior, so while there are undoubtedly changes and challenges, you don't have to give up everything.
@kfc1983 Like others have said, it’s totally normal to feel that way! Your life is about to change.
From my experience, I was super apprehensive about the whole “having a child” part that came after pregnancy lol. It took me a LONG time to feel like it was the right decision and feel joy from it. I felt I had ruined my life. My babe was maybe 6-7 months old when I fell in love with him and being his mother.
Now distanced from the postpartum fog and depression, I can see more clearly that these are all just seasons in your life. Yes, it will be hard and change everything, but you’ll be surprised how adaptable you become. Even though this season now comes to end, there will be more and full of joy! And eventually your kids will be older and less needy and you’ll have more time for you and your partner. I thought I was gonna be home bound with a crying baby for the REST of my life and it blew my mind how quickly they stop being babies.
I’m losing my train of thought. Be down! It’s normal but know that there is something new and exciting on the horizon, it might just take a while to get there.

We have a 14yo girl and almost 6yo boy.
I'm a sahm and my husband is a trucker.
Had my first official appointment last week and a dating ultrasound at 6 weeks.
Super tired and nauseous all the time. But no other concerns/ high risk.
