Anyone told that their uterus was contracting during an ultrasound? I was in a very minor car accident last night and since then have felt mildly crampy. They did an ultrasound today to check and they showed me what looked like a hill under baby and said it was my uterus contracting and asked if I felt it. I said my stomach had been in knots since the accident but I didn’t know if it was just nerves. The tech said that it was normal but to watch out for cramping. I’m still feeling mildly crampy but still don’t know if it’s just nerves.
@lizzybean84 i'm so sorry that you're struggling with nausea.. have you chatted with your doctor yet? i started having nausea pretty early on and none of the home remedies were helping me at all. i'm not sure what you have all tried yet.. but i've been on a prescription since week 5; i still had some, but it was tolerable and not all day. P.S. i'm terrified of throwing up so this was a game changer.
I still take it nightly, and it has even helped me actually get some sleep. i'm probably just going to take it the entire pregnancy.
@NinnyJean Totally normal. Uterus does “practice” contractions all through out pregnancy, you just aren’t feeling them. I’m a US tech. Saw one the other day on my own ultrasound, no concerns. Hope you feel better
The last couple days (I’m 16w2) I’ve had some generalized lower abdomen and lower back pain. Never intense, doesn’t disrupt my sleep, but also kinda doesn’t go away. Different from RPL because RPL, for me, is super sharp and tends to hit me if I cough or roll over quickly. I assume it’s more stretching so I’m not that concerned but also curious if others have experienced this recently.
@rachelredhead I'm 16 weeks tomorrow and have been experiencing the same (hence my post on the clothes thread about belly support!). I've been chalking it up to doing a lot (carrying my toddler, getting abused by my toddler, etc), because I don't remember it from my first, but I could be remembering wrong. Have you been more active recently? It sounds the same as what you are describing. Just a general ache in my lower back and lower abdomen, but not cramping, and not sharp like RLP (although I get that too). I think pregnancy is mostly just feeling random pains/discomforts and wondering if something might be wrong, and it's usually just your body doing its thing. At least that's what I'm telling myself.
@rachelredhead I had abdominal pain the other day. No back pain yet... but I definitely experience it when pregnant with DD. I agree with @meanjellybean. Pregnancy is a whole lot of random discomfort that makes you wonder what's wrong when everything is fine. Example: I've had waves of, what feels like, kidney pain. I had it last time with DD too.... my OB couldn't find any issues and we basically just left it at, bodies are weird.... especially during pregnancy lol.
I'd recommend trying to sleep with a pillow between your legs/knees. That always helped my back pain. Having some belly support while you sleep may also help with the abdominal pains.
@blaf322 your post reminded me that every night I get in bed and think "ok, tomorrow I need to get my pregnancy pillow out." Aaaand then of course I forget!
@meanjellybean tell siri to remind you later today so you don't forget!
I'm not feeling like I need mine yet.... I feel like I should be needing something by 17 weeks... but maybe I'm misremembering. Whatever is happening, I'll take as much pain free time as I can get!
I had pain in my pelvis joints, so if I'm laying on my side and try to change position moving my legs, hurts, a lot... but I do remember feeling that the first time, of course Dr said it was totally normal. Also today I woke up with a bigger belly... I guess that was the main reason for my discomfort....
@meanjellybean I've been wanting to get mine out since like week 12. I haven't yet, but I'm definitely going to soon. I need to get it out now so I can wash the cover before I use it!
@meanjellybean I slept with mine for the first time last night! I do think it helps but I also feel super awkward using it so I need more practice. Now my abdominal “pain” isn’t even really pain, it’s just this sensation of stretched muscle, which seems logical. Kinda like if I’d done a bunch of lower ab crunches or something. Lovely. I’m going to the gym after work and plan on stretching a good bit and doing the hydro massage chair so maybe that will help.
@shaqn0sis Yes girl, I totally know how you feel. What did your doc prescribe if you don't mind me asking? Diclectin doesn't seem to do much for me (same as Diclegis I think it's called in the States) and home remedies don't work much either. Luckily, since Friday I've been feeling better, and only had some nausea last night for a couple hours. Had my usual two dry heaves this morning but they thankfully weren't as forceful as they usually tend to be. Here's hoping brighter days are coming. I'm so glad the medication worked for you, and helps you sleep. That's HUGE.
I feel like I live on this thread now. I'm sorry for all the posts!
17w tomorrow - this weekend I started having clearish fluid leaking from my nipples. Could this be colostrum already? It's not a crazy amount, but if I'm leaning on something and there's pressure on my tata, some will come out (and, of course, if it's expressed).
I also have noticed that I'm not feeling baby move as much this past week as I had before. I'm reading that during periods of big growth spurts the baby can be quieter because they end up sleeping a lot more. The heartbeat is still just fine and where it should be, but I miss those little movements and can't stop myself from worrying!
@lizzybean84 I think it's likely just your breasts gearing up for breastfeeding already (I had clear discharge in my 2nd tri with DD too), but I think it's worth mentioning to your doctor to make sure they're not concerned. I say this with a bias though as I had nipple discharge a few months ago (not pregnant, so obviously different) that ended up with me having a mammogram, ultrasound, biopsy, and surgery. So I'm definitely all "talk to your doctor!" after that. But with it being clear and while you're pregnant, I think it's probably very normal.
@NinnyJean yikes, sorry about the car accident! Contractions don’t sound too crazy but hope everything is good otherwise as well. ❤️
My new good/bad symptom: good - I’ve started feeling some baby flutters off and on. Bad - I’ve subsequently started freaking out when I don’t have them... which at 14 weeks, is pretty dumb. Because it’s like 99% of the time. 😂 In the past I’d always go get something sugary to make the baby start moving again, but at this point I need to just tell my brain to calm down and not stress!
@lizzybean84 oh, yes! Sorry I left that part out. It was just a benign mass that was irritating one of my milk ducts, hence the discharge, but they removed it so I wouldn't forever have a leaky nip. haha I just shared that because had I been pregnant, I probably would've just written it off as a weird pregnancy thing when it actually wasn't.
While I do cry easier. I laugh so much harder lately. Like. Start laughing and cannot stop laughing and H is just sitting staring at me. Sorry. But these could be tears. I’m not sure if it’s a pregnancy thing, but it definitely is new 😅
@nursejenn5 same here! The other day I was crying laughing because DH was eating crunched pretzels... I don’t even know why it was so funny except that I’m the one who stepped on the bag 😂
@rachelredhead scurvy 😂 when I was in college and could barely afford groceries my best friends mom used to always leave oranges so I wouldn’t get scurvy she said 🤣 I have also been craving fruit in general like crazy!
Yesterday I had the most scary pain... It felt like a stab on my left side (I've never been stabbed but I guess that's how it feels). It was super painful it made me shake a bit, it was late at night. So I just called my nephew (he is a Dr) once it was gone (like 2 minutes after) and he was like must be your uterus stretching, sometimes it can feel like a stab.
I've never had that before, I was crying because I thought something was wrong...
Has anyone felt anything like that? maybe on previous pregnancies?
@mayisch omg! I had pain in my side that was bad enough to wake me up last night. It was also bad enough that I broke out in a small sweat. It went away so I just didn't really think much of it. Mine was more on my side, side though. Was yours more on the side your belly?
ETA: FWIW, I bet your probably fine if you're not experiencing any additional or continued symptoms today.
@blaf322 it was on my lower belly, the left side... I told one of my girlfriends at work and she said she had one while sleeping on her 1st pregnancy and felt like something was wrong, but it wasn't Dr told her that was normal...
and nope, other than nausea I am totally fine... guess its just baby making more space in the womb, or practicing kickboxing... who knows....
@mayisch that kind of sounds like RLP. I know this isn't your first rodeo so it must have felt different than your usual RLP... but that's definitely what it sounds like to me!
@mehugg I've been dizzy almost every day since about 12 weeks, I told my dr yesterday and he seemed unconcerned since my blood pressure was normal. I think I'd prefer the nauseous feelings over being dizzy and light headed
@mayisch sounds a lot like what I experience with round ligament pain, especially if I sneeze/make sudden movements. As long as it went away after a short period of time, I wouldn’t worry too much!
@pocketrose I had the worst headache of my entire life the other day and Tylenol just does nothing for me. I was so tempted to take one dose of ibuprofen because I know how well it works for me, but I resisted. Lots of dark room/cold cloth on forehead time that day.
Sleep. Has become rough. And I don’t even have a real belly yet. My sister was gonna give me her pregnancy pillow in 4-5 weeks after she delivers. But I bit the bulletin and just bought one myself. Hoping it helps the constant tossing and turning trying to get comfortable all night long. (Another situation I am thankful we have a king bed)
@lizzybean84 yes - it is diclegis that was prescribed. i take two at night and it's gotten me through the night and the next day. i think you can take up to 4 of those a day if need be. i'm hoping that you're starting to feel better and can get out of that stage!
@mehugg I've been having a little dizziness... not too bad, but enough that my bootcamp coach excused me from burpies the other night. So at least there's that?

@blaf322 its so weird how one would think you have already experienced everything and here I am, feeling like a newbie
