Re: *Symptoms Thread*

  • @JessDG interesting! I didn't know they tested for it this early either

Thanks ladies.  I will probably just ask for the antibiotics when delivering whether or not it comes back at 36 weeks just for peace of mind.  (If they'll give them to me!)

  • @JessDG I'm not sure if my office checks for it this early, they never mentioned it, but I do know their policy is to check after 36 weeks and if you go into labor before you're tested they give you the antibiotics during labor just in case.

I am also always cold and constantly feel like I have the flu or something. And then when I finally warm up, I become overly hot. So I guess I am having issues regulating my body temperature. Later on in pregnancy I know I will be sweating 24/7.
  • I don't understand the antibiotics now. My understanding is that while pregnant it can keep coming back. That is why you wait until labor antibiotics. However, I've never heard of testrd this early in pregnancy either. So I guess that changes  things!.

So my OB's office just called to tell me that my culture they took on Friday was positive for Group B Strep.  I know they tested me for this at 36 weeks last pregnancy, and I didn't realize that is what they were testing for on Friday.  Doc said I needed to take antibiotics for a week and it was no big deal.  Any other STM+ have GBS early in their pregnancies?

  • @bluguitarhannah so exciting! With my first, that's how I felt them - lying flat on my back. I was 15 weeks so I assumed it was too early but in the weeks to come they got stronger and I definitely knew that's what it was. Yay!
  • @meanjellybean Thanks for that comment.  Such a new world.
  • @bluguitarhannah so exciting!! I described it as it felt like there was a goldfish out of water flopping around inside me for those early movements. :joy:
  • @bluguitarhannah @meanjellybean @stlbuckeye132 baby flutters... can't wait to feel them
  • @bluguitarhannah @meanjellybean @stlbuckeye132 I think I felt some yesterday! I never would've noticed if my mom hadn't told me I might start feeling it soon. Reading this is so validating! It was a little flutter unlike my usual pregnant gassiness lol. Pretty amazing!
  • Ugh I can’t wait for that either! I’d like to be able to say I feel baby flutters vs intestinal flutters 😂
  • @bluguitarhannah I'm so jealous you felt some flutters!!! I can't wait. How exciting!
  • @nursejenn5 lol I know. I'm just 14 weeks so hoping to start feeling them soon. I'll randomly feel something but it's too high up and I'm like nope, just gas  :D
  • I’m 15w4d and started feeling flutters a week ago, I also feel a little pressure where the baby locates himself. I feel it most when laying down on my back but I am starting to feel it during the day too.
  • 15w1d...Would it be too early to experience Braxton Hicks? I’m not sure if that’s what I feel, but every so often as I’m sitting at my desk I feel these small pressure points tighten up and release. Could also be baby moving (as it’s a similar feeling to baby rolling or putting pressure on my ute). I don’t recall having any BH with DS, so I’m not really sure what’s going on 🤷‍♀️
  • @coffeeandcookies84 I’m 12 weeks and having them. I had to look it up because it freaked me out. I had one or 2 at 10 weeks. Yesterday night I had multiple. I think as long as they don’t hurt and they’re not coming consistently it’s ok. This is my 3rd and the way I’d describe it is tightening. It doesn’t hurt but it’s not comfortable either. Sometimes I get pressure in my hips like round ligament pain too but it’s a definite tightening.

  • @bluguitarhannah that’s so exciting that you’re feeling movement. I *think* I’ve been feeling something. I feel like I’m being tickled from the inside 😂. It’s in the right location for it to be baby. I’m not completely convinced because it’s just so early. I felt my first son pretty early (13 weeks or so), but 11-12 seems a little ridiculous!
  • @hbird0723 yeah it’s kind of a weird feeling. Definitely not consistent, so I’m not concerned. I remember with DS the first movements I felt were more like the “popcorn”/quickening feeling. This almost feels like an elbow or knee is making more room (which I know baby isn’t quite that big or strong yet).
  • Yay! I'm so glad you girls are feeling your little ones! I started to about 4 days ago in a very specific position in bed, and today I can feel it while I'm sitting at work. Someone described it as feeling like a little goldfish and before I felt it, I couldn't quite imagine what that feeling would be, but I'd say it's pretty spot on! The first time I really felt it, it was like a lightbulb turned on and I knew exactly what it was. And now it just makes me so happy every time I feel it. It's making me feel so much more connected to our little sweetheart.
  • Who else is still dealing with all day exhaustion? I’m 13 weeks and physically can’t get off the couch at some times during the day. Even after sleeping 9 hours at night I just want to curl up and a blanket and lay down. If I have a reason to get up and be somewhere early I can make myself get dressed and go but on days when I’m just home with my
kids, I feel like I’m such a blob and don’t want to move 😴 really hoping I get a burst of energy soon
  • Everyone else: growing this baby is magical I am a goddess
me: sounds like a dystopian story. Haven’t eaten a full meal is months, sleep is now a thing of the pst. My life is no longer my own but rather that of the tiny alien inside me.
  • Just put my son down for bed. He gets nurses and then we rock and cuddle for a few minutes before he goes in the crib. It’s usually one of my favorite times of day because it’s a sweet bonding time for us. Tonight, he would not.stop.twiddling. Pulling at my lip, my hair, my nose. Kept jamming his finger in my ear while being rocked. I was SO irritated. Then, he stopped, snuggled his little head under my chin, and put his hand right on my cheek. And I got all teary eyed. Long story short, the hormonal rollercoaster has officially arrived 😂
  • @Fullhandsfullheart sometimes! I was like that every day from weeks 9-11 and now it’s like once every few days that I’m totally dysfunctional. Leading up to week 9 I was also like this every few days. So I’m hoping that I’m on my way out and soon I’ll have some energy every day! But I feel ya, it sucks just not being able to get anything done because you’re so out of it!
  • *Slowly* regaining some energy. It comes in waves and sudden bursts and I get stuff done. And then it’s gone again and I’m back to the couch. I can see the light at the end of the first trimester tunnel, 13 weeks yesterday.
  • @Fullhandsfullheart I'm still pretty tired; not an all day occurrence, but when 3pm rolls around I'm useless. Just want to nap haha.

Also..anyone else dealing with hip pain? Just hit 14 weeks today and I can't even walk without it being painful. It's even painful to get up from my bed/chair or cross my legs. I'm also feeling it in my lower back too when I am positioned a certain way.
I regularly see a chiropractor so I will bring this up on my next visit but I just feel like I got hit by a truck today.
  • Could it be sciatica? I got It so bad with my 2nd pregnancy I couldn’t sleep in my own bed and ended up on my son’s mattress for the last month before the baby was born. I haven’t had it yet this time but I’m sure it will come. I remember standing up and getting out of bed was so painful.
  • @shaqn0sis me! is not always but if I switch positions after a long period, it hurts.... my work is mostly sitting so when I stand up it really hurts... guess my body is adjusting, I do remember on my 1st pregnancy feeling the same, back then I talked to my Dr about this and he said it was completely normal..... however if you have lots of pain you should ask your Dr in your next appointment...
  • Late to the thred, but I hear you. I had one that lasted an hour 45 a couple weeks ago!!
  • Anyone else dealing with skin issues? I’ve started getting very dry, textured, irritated patches of skin on my face. I’m sure it’s partially related to the cold, dry weather, but it’s a little more than your average dry skin. I’m no stranger to that. I have to assume this is at least partially hormone-related. No idea what to use to help resolve it!
  • @kristinl492 Under my chin has been significantly dry and patchy.  Various moisturizers don't seem to be making a dent.  Have presumed it's hormone related.
  • @kristinl492 I haven't... but I feel like that sounds familiar. Like, it's a normal pregnancy thing. Don't quote me on that though.
  • @kristinl492 I haven't dealt with it on my face but definitely on my ankles, chest, arms sometimes.  I live in Minnesota so I'm positive some of it is weather-related but I deal with that yearly and this seems a bit different. I feel like my skin is also just infinitely more sensitive now, which makes sense given increased blood flow, so I've also thought maybe it was both dry skin (weather or hormonal) AND being more sensitive to that feeling of dry, itchy skin. Double whammy!
  • @shaqn0sis I know this is a few days late, but I've had crazy issues with my SI joint, which is lower back/ hip area. I've been seeing a pelvic floor physiotherapist which has been helping. But before Christmas the pain was debilitating, I wasn't able to function for like a week. I hope you get some relief!

@bluguitarhannah @blaf322 I’m definitely chalking it up to pregnancy at this point because I’ve also gotten a few pimples added into the mix. I almost never get acne. I’m planning to slather the problem areas in Aquaphor tonight in hopes of soothing some of the dryness 🤷🏼‍♀️

@rachelredhead I got small spots Of eczema on my limbs. I never had that until the postpartum stage with my son. Went away after a little while and flared back up this pregnancy. Pregnancy does such weird things to a body!
  • @kristinl492 this am I was just thinking how crappy my skin looks. Bumpy. Blotchy. Super dry. Occasional pimples. And I never in my life suffered from skin issues lol. Ita coming to haunt me now
  • Ok, does anyone else have an issue with getting hairier? Not just on your head, but other places? I've noticed my belly is starting to grow a lot more peach fuzz.

Also, I am getting soooo tired of the nausea. I'm 16+2 and it went from being mild and occasional to now being pretty much constant the past few weeks with morning dry heaving and waking up in the middle of the night with severe nausea. Nothing has been helping and I'm so sad it's making me not enjoy being pregnant anymore.
  • @nursejenn5 right there with you. I think my skin looks as crappy as I feel lol.
  • @kristinl492 :D dying laughing at the idea of you with a bunch of aquaphor on your face, then covered in dog hair :D
  • Nausea is still a thing.... but now I wake up super hungry and constipation is my new issue ...

I am still waiting for that skin glow, lustrous hair and extra energy....
