Day two of a nasty headache. 😭 not sure if it’s my sleeping positions or just 2nd trimester headache but man oh man.
Same!! My SIL recommended rubbing peppermint oil on your temples and, if it's food grade, dropping a little in some chamomile tea. I'll post if it helps at all.
Anyone else have a spike in morning sickness again around 15-16 weeks? I’m really hoping it’s that and not influenza B that’s going around. I haven’t had a fever or any upper respiratory stuff but I just feel nauseous every time I eat and a lot of the moms here in town said theirs or their kids started off that way. I almost threw up earlier but I’m also feeling like my reflux is acting up... definitely didn’t miss morning sickness if that’s what it is. Feels a lot like it. We are taking the kids to great wolf tomorrow and it’s my birthday so hoping this isn’t the start of anything!
It’s my day off and I should be sleeping in a little bit, but instead I’ve been awake since 6:30 am thanks to restless legs and a big ole nose bleed. Seems like the tossing and turning keeps getting worse! I’m bitter about the very frequent interrupted sleep I’ve had this whole pregnancy. Not fair!
@nutter_bean definitely let us know if the peppermint works! I’ve heard similar remedies, but never tried it myself. Tylenol doesn’t do much for me so when the headaches hit, it’s pretty miserably
@hbird0723 Yes. 100%. My morning sickness was the worst it had ever been starting at 15 weeks, lasted a week and a half, and at about 16+5, it disappeared pretty much completely and have felt fine ever since (I'm 18+4 now). There's light at the end of the tunnel! It may still be a bug, but that's exactly how I felt at exactly the same time too.
@hbird0723 Yes 15.5 today! Last night I felt like I did back through the first trimester, so nauseous! Couldn't get anything done. Hoping it was a one time thing!
@hbird0723 Yes! I was trying to research this because I didn't have any nausea in first tri.. 14 weeks hit and so did the sickness! I'm glad to see I'm not alone. Hoping it doesn't continue...
This is super minor but anyone else have armpit tenderness? I’ve had it for a while and I thought it was because I was sick since I was sick for like two months straight. My boobs are still pretty sore so I’m assuming it’s just milk ducts that extend into the armpit? I forgot to ask at my most recent OB appt because honestly I only notice it when I’m showering or putting on deodorant.
@meanjellybean I haven’t but would assume the same. I know armpit pain can occur with clogged ducts sometimes when it’s one that’s kind of farther back.
@meanjellybean I haven’t had that experience myself, but boobs are the most asymptomatic part of my body in pregnancy. Go figure. I would assume the same, especially since it’s both sides. The largest amount of “functional” breast tissue is in the upper outer portion of the breast and extends towards the armpit.
Does anyone else experience varicose veins during pregnancy? This is my 4th pregnancy and I remember having one on my thigh that started to form near the end of my last pregnancy but then went away. I just got a glimpse of it in the mirror and it came back 10x worse this time! It looks like a snake on the back of my thigh and it aches so bad I can’t even imagine how bad it will be by the third trimester. Anyone else suffering and have tips? I’m searching for compression shorts that will stay tight on it to hopefully relieve some pain but I think I’ll end up needing compression tights everyday. I guess I’ll be wearing long skirts all summer 😭
@kristinl492 I’m feeling the same way! I have some good days with some energy now, but other days where I’m completely exhausted allll the time, even with naps. Hoping it just ends soon and I feel better.
I've started to feel like each day I have a new little ache or pain. Never severe or all that persistent - typically gone after a day or two and replaced by a new one. Yesterday it felt like I had done a really serious ab workout (narrator: she had not) and today that's gone but the outside of my right hip hurts. Fun!
@mehugg yup that’s me too. Random aches and pains. I even pulled the snoogle out of hibernation but got out of bed the next morning with completely different aches and pains. Can’t win until this baby is out 😩
My feet are something else these days. I typically can work my 13-14 hours days with minimal feet ache (compression socks, good rotation of shoes), but no matter what I wear my feet end up killing me. Even when I wear a more non supportive type of shoe(I have some boots and cheap shoes that I've had for YEARS) out and about for a few hours during my days off my feet are killing me.
@lizzybean84 thanks for the bday wish 😊 it was one of my favorites and thankfully the morning sickness held off that day but hit with vengeance Thursday night and yesterday 🤢 @nursejenn5, @mrs_sheddy and @mrsdrez thanks ladies, I’m glad I’m not alone but sorry you all had that as well! I feel like 15.5 and still now (tomorrow will be 16) I’ve just been battling it on and off and I Accidentally left my unisom and B6 at home when we went to great wolf on Thursday so I didn’t take it 2 nights. By Thursday night I was miserable and basically any time I eat now I feel sick then around 4:00 again it’s like ugh this is how that felt! Hoping it’s short lived this time! I learned I am not ready to be off those meds though!
Hoping you ladies are out of the woods soon with nausea! Today was the first morning since about 8 weeks where I was able to brush my teeth. I can see the light at the end of the nauseating tunnel!
I had almost 2 weeks with no vomiting. And then it was back all day yesterday because I forgot my unisom. 😭 clearly I can't forget it just yet, I'm at 17+4. Such bullshit. 😂 I'm ready for the glow of 2nd trimester hahaha.
@modoodles that sucks so bad. I'm also waiting for my glow, but mostly because my skin has been shit ever since I got pregnant. Could be the weather too, but most days I wake up and am like what is with my face??
@meanjellybean Ugh, same. No amount of hydration is bringing my face anything but dull, flaky, textured skin. I don’t even need glow, I’ll settle for skin that doesn’t make me look like a rattlesnake at this point.
@meanjellybean@kristinl492 my skin issue at present is that I get tiny red bug bite-looking things randomly throughout the day and they itch like hell. I saw the OB for a check up on Friday and she just said skin is extra sensitive now so I need to be sure to use dye-free, fragrance-free stuff. That would be great advice except I’m a redhead with sensitive skin who has ALWAYS used sensitive skin products. I’m not bathing with Irish Spring and turpentine, honey. My hubby uses dye free fabric softener on his clothes but we’ll stop doing that, just in case there’s trace amounts when we do my laundry. But I’m at a loss otherwise. Bring on the calamine!
@meanjellybean my skin has been horrendous this whole pregnancy. Constant zits, dark sports, random itchy patches. Wondering if I’m having a girl because this baby is certainly stealing my beauty 😂
@Fullhandsfullheart then I’m going to be having a very pretty boy because he’s sucking every drop of water out of my cells and the youth right out of my face 😂
@meanjellybean I love how my zits are all like a beard under my chin. My chin that has stayed dried and patchy no matter what cream I apply this whole pregnancy. Pregnancy is not glamorous.
The dark circles seem to be real bad too, in addition to the sandpaper skin. Not a great combo when I can’t be bothered to put any makeup on to conceal those bad boys.
@kristinl492 ugh yes, the dark circles and for some reason the skin around my eyes is dry. So when I put on my undereye concealer it looks terrible lol. Whyyyyyyy
@meanjellybean same! I just tried to order some concealer from Glossier that’s supposed to be great for both of those problems and my color is sold out 😩.
I've been feeling super hungry in the mornings... but like way to much... I try to eat as healthy as possible but all I want is a burrito
I already had yogurt, coffee, banana, 2 apples, low carb cookies, granola bar, lots of water... and I still feel hungry...
I keep thinking that maybe I will turn into a zombie or vampire hahaha I can't remember which one has this increased hunger before turning.... I'll let you know if I end up eating brains or sucking someones blood
@mayisch I bet if you add some protein to your morning, it'll help with the hunger. Maybe a protein shake if you don't have time to make eggs or something like that?
@mayisch definitely add a little more protein to hold you over! Hard boiled egg, string cheese, protein shake, PB Toast, protein bar... I recently tried Perfect Bars and they are SO good. It's a refrigerated protein bar made from either peanut butter or other nut butters and it has 12g of protein. I found it in the yogurt section at walmart. Do a google search of "high protein snacks" and I'm sure you'll get a good list.
@mayisch I've added 1/2 of a One bar to my morning breakfast and it's helping. The overall bar has 220 calories and 20 gram protein and 1 g sugar. Premier protein is a good drink if you prefer that.
@mrs_sheddy yes Perfect bars are so good! I was eating them a lot when I got pregnant, but unfortunately they have been a casualty of the first trimester food aversion hangover. Can't even think about them now, even though I'm not nauseous anymore. Hopefully I'll want them again, because you're right they are such a great source of protein.
@bluguitarhannah good call about the shakes, I need to remember that when I go to the store. Would be nice to change things up a bit.
Oh and @mayisch I keep a jar of peanut butter and a thing of rice cakes in my office for when I forget a snack or need something to tide me over.
thank you ladies @meanjellybean that sounds good, will have that on my drawer for sure @mrs_sheddy I will look for those perfect bars on my next trip to walmart @bluguitarhannah That drink sounds perfect for a quick morning fix
Headaches 😩😩😩. I don’t get them that frequently, but they are so persistent when I do. This one popped up as I was leaving work at 5pm yesterday, took some magnesium before bed, and figured I’d sleep it off. I ended up waking up at 2am with throbbing temples and taking Tylenol and DH got me a cool rag for my head. This stupid headache is still hanging around at 830am the next day. Tylenol sucksssss
