Numb/pins and needles in my fingers on both hands. WTF. I've experienced this much later in pregnancy from fluid retention, but I'm only 11 weeks and my hands do not look swollen at all. This is SO annoying.
The past few days have been so awful nausea-wise. As I was showering this morning I was enjoying the fact that I actually felt good, but the second I stepped out, boom, dry heaving all over the place. I'm 14 weeks today and it seems almost worse than it ever has. I'm feeling pretty disheartened today. I know symptoms are good and reassuring, but waiting for this time to come expecting to feel better only to feel worse really sucks.
I know I’m not feeling movements yet (only 11 weeks), but I keep getting a constant feeling like I’m being tickled from the inside. Wondering if it’s a weird feeling of the ligaments/uterus all stretching and growing? It’s kinda of bizarre. Anyone else have this experience?
@zande2016 It sounds terrible, from what I've heard. If I were you, I'd be tempted to go ahead and start treating it as if it is carpal tunnel... hoping to keep it from getting bad for as long as possible.
Sharp pains throughout my lower abdomen/pelvis. Sometimes they’re quick. Others last a few minutes. Wondering if it’s round ligaments. But it’s been annoyingly bad today. Can’t wait to go home and get a heat pack on it (and bring it up to my doc tomorrow 😂)
I am finally starting to feel better and last night was the first night I didn’t get hit with a ton of bricks around 4 or 5. I am hoping it continues. I see some of having symptoms again at 14 weeks. I was reading it can sometimes peak again then. It’s been 4 years since my last pregnancy so I can’t remember. Hopefully it’s short lived!
@blaf322 that has me nervous because when I had the stomach bug I had these severe sharp probably gas pains a couple days after and the only relief I could get was from a corn bag heated up on my stomach. I tried not to get too far down but then I was so sore too so hopefully it wasn’t enough to do anything but 😬 you’re right got to be careful!
Also, plus 1 for Asthma. I never have to use my inhaler anymore but when I’m pregnant I usually have to once or twice. I’m only 11 weeks and laying down sometimes gets me like I can’t breathe well.
@hbird0723 google it... I feel like 10 mins at a time is okay/recommended if you're going to use a heating pad? I could be wrong. I feel like a corn bag isn't as hot as a heating pad/cools off where a heating pad doesn't so maybe you'd even be able to leave it longer?
@blaf322@hbird0723 my general understanding was that you don’t want YOUR core temp to rise to high because in turn it will raise baby’s temp. But a heating pad wouldn’t be enough to raise your core temp.
But I’ll add it to my list of questions for my doc today! 😂
I use the heating pad on my lower back every night and also the seat warmer in the car every day. I don't know if it's different than putting one directly on the belly, but my midwife okay'd it because they are still so bundled and protected in there that external heat doesn't really make a difference as long as it doesn't raise your body temp. A hot bath or Jacuzzi is different because it raises your core body temp. from the inside and that's not good for baby
"It’s fine to use a heating pad to find relief from pregnancy-related aches and pains in your back, hips, and joints. But avoid using it for longer than 20 minutes. Start with the lowest setting, and make sure you don’t fall asleep with it. You can also try a microwaveable heat pack or a hot water bottle.
Avoid using heating devices on your abdomen. While it’s normal to experience some abdominal discomfort, be aware of warning signs of a problem."
That’s true that a corn bad does cool down and isn’t at the same constant heat but I fell asleep finally with it on so hopefully it was ok (it was higher up too). I was so tired and couldn’t get any relief so once that helped I passed out. It didn’t make me real hot though or anything. Baby looked good on the next ultrasound so I’m thinking all is good but it’s good info to know for future!
@mayisch dang! Just when you think you're getting past the not so fun symptoms! I haven't vomited since last weekend, and I dont know if it's because the unisom and b6, or if the symptoms are finally starting to ease up a bit. I'm not going to stop taking the combination for a few more weeks.
The headaches have arrived full force. I have had one for the last 3 days straight with no relief. I am finding it really hard to concentrate. Tylenol does absolutely nothing. UGH.
@nursejenn5 I keep hearing how well Unisom works, but even when I took it when I wasn't pregnant, I would almost always feel a bit of vertigo throughout the day the next day after taking it. Do you ever get that? I'd love to have that as an option but I imagine vertigo would multiply everything by about a hundred.
@JessDG do you try some caffeine along with the tylenol? I get terrible pregnancy migraines, tylenol and a venti iced coffee from Starbucks help me immensely.
For all those talking about unisom...it is a Godsend for me when I'm nauseous. Try taking a half tab instead of a whole and after a few days of taking it, it doesn't seem to make you *AS* tired...
@LaurenAsh23 I noticed this morning that when I took the tylenol with my morning coffee my headache went away almost immediately. I usually just have the coffee in the morning, but I may have to have a little in the afternoon until these headaches go away...
@lizzybean84 I had the prescription version of the Unisom+B6 blend (my doctor gave me a sample of Bonjesta - essentially 20 mg of Unisom and 20 mg of B6- now taking 2 pills of the Diclegis once a day before dinner.) Let me tell you I have never felt better. For the first 3 weeks of me taking it, I would get dizzy feeling pretty often but it subsided after that. I've been taking it since week 5.. now almost to my 13th week and feeling great!
@lizzybean84 I have a baseline of on and off vertigo in my regular non pregnant life so I’m not much of a help there 😂 but I think the unisom was beneficial (I will be adding b6 25mg three times a day Then the unisom at night if my nausea gets real bad again) my insurance won’t cover the fancy combo script version lol.
I get so hot and light headed this pregnancy. I don’t remember it happening in my other two this early on. I know it’s probably partially because I don’t drink near enough
@NinnyJean same here. I’ve been getting light headed almost every time I stand up and last night I was SO hot! I’m struggling with the water as well though so going to try and get more in today!
12 + 1 today and I’m feeling so much pressure in my pelvis/lower abdomen today. Uterus must’ve decided to do a bunch of growing today 😅
Anyone else feel cold for no reason? Every single night I feel like I have the chills. Kind of feels similar to when you’re getting sick or have a fever. Except I have no other symptoms of being sick or having an infection. It’s the weirdest thing! I know hot flashes are common in pregnancy but this is the opposite
@kristinl492 I feel that way a lot too. I’m either burning up or so cold. I currently have lots of layers on lol like you said it’s not exactly like the chills where you’re shaking you’re so cold but I feel like I can’t warm up. Then other nights I am sweating.
@hbird0723 Good to know I’m not alone! it’s the craziest thing! I’ll get all bundled up and then I’m so hot I can barely stand it. At least once or twice a week my anxiety gets the best of me and I end up convinced I have some kind of massive infection 😂🤦🏼♀️ I had hot flashes in the very early stages at like 4-6 weeks but not the chills.
@kristinl492 I’m freezing all the time! I mean, it’s winter... but just seems like I can’t ever warm up. I hate it! And preemptively annoyed about hot I’m going to be with a third trimester in the summer. So I plan on being uncomfortable all the time.
@kristinl492 I was cold most of the time up until that 12 week mark; now, at 15 weeks, I'm pretty much warm all the time, mixed in with some extra warm flashes. I miss being cold; there's nothing like cuddling up under a warm blanky when you're freezing!
I run so hot towards the end of pregnancy... also totally not looking forward to the heat of the summer. That said, I'm also always cold basically since my BFP.
I haven't had hot flashes but I am always freezing, I have the heat on, in my cozy pjs, socks and blanket and I am freezing, if I continue like this hubs will sleep naked with ice packs over his body
So my OB's office just called to tell me that my culture they took on Friday was positive for Group B Strep. I know they tested me for this at 36 weeks last pregnancy, and I didn't realize that is what they were testing for on Friday. Doc said I needed to take antibiotics for a week and it was no big deal. Any other STM+ have GBS early in their pregnancies?
@JessDG not a stm but they test it in your urine. Our policy is though if you have a positive urine anytime in your pregnancy you have to have antibiotics during labor. (Vs waiting forever the 36 week swab)
@JessDG that’s interesting. I was tested at 36 weeks last pregnancy, and it came back positive. Honestly it wasn’t even a big deal and I just had 2 rounds of antibiotics during L&D.
From what I recall at the time, the nurse mentioned I could test again and it could come back negative, but since it was so close to delivery I played it safe.
Nothing has come back yet from my urine samples, but I’m interested if I’ll develop group B strep again for this pregnancy
Re: *Symptoms Thread*
Be careful with use of the heating pad. Remember, you don’t want to have heat on your belly for too long bc you risk giving baby a fever

but of course this morning I am back with all 3
