Re: Question Thread

  • @celestecards yeah it’s definitely ok to bend over.

  • @biolprof I did planks all through my pregnancy last time. I was cleared by my OB and didn't have any health issues that would have prevented me from working out.
  • @biolprof I also do planks just not to the point of straining. I often modify to my knees because my abs are pretty busted from #1.

  • @biolprof last pregnancy I LOVED BodyFit by Amy. I just used her prenatal videos (all on YouTube and free!). She has videos for each trimester with yoga, pilates, upper/lower body, kettle bell, handweights...I cannot recommend her videos enough! And once I was familiar enough with each workout, I could even turn off the volume and follow along on the computer while watching TV at night.

  • @KristinUM12 thanks so much! I will check those out!
  • stashattack  try Magnesium Calm
@celestecards You can do any activity you did pre pregnancy. Bending over is totally fine.
  • So this question is for anyone diabetic on this board. I’d really love your feedback. I had gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy and this pregnancy as soon as I found out I was pregnant my endocrinologist saw me (I have hypothyroidism).  She has me testing to see if I need to go on insulin and my fasting in the morning is all over the place ranging from 81-118- but mostly exceeding 100 everyday. My obgyn doesn’t seem concerned because my A1C was in normal range. My question is are your fasting numbers in the morning changing due to pregnancy? Thank you!
  • @justsuzie thanks. Just increasing my water intake has been a tremendous help in getting things moving again!!

  • If you're getting Panorama, MaterniT21, etc., when are they doing the draw? Someone from my office is supposed to call me to schedule but it has not happened yet. I'm 9 weeks today (the earliest it could be done) and wondering how long I should wait before beginning to nag. My office is huge and balls have been known to be dropped.
  • Is it normal to be so hungry at 7 weeks? I try to make healthy choices but I just get so hungry that I get sick and end up eating sooo much! I’m already overweight so I’m trying to be as healthy as possible
  • Do any of you take allergy meds? I was taking the target brand of Zyrtec, which I think I read was okay, but I’m still unsure and am curious about others’ thoughts.
  • Does anyone know what the absolute latest they will take you for the screening test ? I know they say between 11-13 weeks and usually you do it at 12 weeks, has anyone heard of it being done in the 13th week?
  • @Xstatic3333 I'm getting mine done at week 9, but they offered appointments into the 10th week.  I'm pretty sure my last pregnancy they recommended between 9-12 weeks.  Not sure when you need to nag just sharing my experience.  I'm only doing Panorama this time as the carrier screen isn't necessary second time around with the same partner.
  • @daydreaminghufflepuff I also take generic Zyrtec. I quit taking everything (allergy meds and vitamins) other than prenatals until I had my first appt (just the confirmation appt at about 5 weeks) and she said it was totally fine to go back on the Zyrtec. Which was a relief because I was miserable for that week between positive test and appointment!
  • @daydreaminghufflepuff I actually stopped taking it, as I found I don't need it while pregnant. But I was told Claritin was safe.
  • @brimarie91 @persnickity Thank you both. I’ve been off it for several days now and my sinuses and throat are not happy. I’m thinking I may begin again.

@Xstatic3333 @contemplative01 I’ve never had panorama before but I’m older now, so I think I will opt to do it. I’m terrified of false positives though that lead to unnecessary panic or additional, unnecessary invasive testing. Sounds like you have both done this before - what was your experience like?  Thanks!
  • @jamidine I don't have any family history, risk factors, or health concerns that would require me to take it but the office I go to highly recommends it.  I didn't have anything come up on the last one so no false positives or further tests.  Not the point of doing it - but a perk is being able to know the sex of the baby relatively early if you want to know.
  • @jamidine I had it for my last pregnancy and found it to be reassuring. My OB office recommends the cell-free DNA testing in lieu of a nuchal translucency scan these days for AMA pregnancies without other known risk factors. Last pregnancy I had both, so I may opt to just do the blood draw this time.
  • Ftm here so no clue how fast I’m going to expand 🤣 will I be showing much in late August edd 17th. My DH cousin’s wedding is on aug 23rd and I was just planning on wearing something u already had in my closet but now idk if I’ll need a dress cuz of maybe the bump? Any STM+ wisdom would be appreciated

  • @stashattack - In late August you'll be 19ish weeks, and I popped around 18 with my first.
This was me at 17 weeks:
    And at 19 weeks:

But I'm also short with a short torso. I'm 5'3" and I got huge in pregnancy. So honestly, around 19 weeks, it's really up to your body whether you would be showing or not. Does your dress have a little room?

@marebear15 i'm 5'1 so with you on the short brigade LOL. I do have a couple that might have a little room. and Luckily it's a causal wedding and not super fancy. The one that I was thinking about wearing might get a lil short in the front though... Hmmm. I'll just have to kinda wait and see I guess how the next few months go for now! LOL

  • @stashattack For me, my ribcage expands very early and dresses no longer fit on my ribs before I outgrown them in the belly
  • @stashattack if you have some flowy dresses it might be able to work. Or a dress that stretches. I'm also 5'1 and was showing by 19 weeks with my first. I wasn't showing a ton but I had a little bump and well, you cant suck this kind of bump in!
  • @stashattack I had a bump the size of marebear's at 14 weeks. I went straight out fast. The bigger issue was that my boobs grew so much! Tops definitely didn't fit my boobs the same way.
  • Dang. Alrighty Imma start looking around for flowy dresses. Thank you all for your input!! I really appreciate it!

  • How is everyone combating the exhaustion? I find it so hard to get through the day! 😴😴
  • @dmd2019 barely making it.
  • @dmd2019 today has been better than yesterday but it’s still a struggle. 😴😭
  • @dmd2019 I wouldn't say I'm doing a great job managing. Barely getting through my work then falling asleep after dinner... Unfortunately I really need that post dinner time to get caught up on work...but maybe I'll be forced to have a better work life balance.
  • @dmd2019 I’m not managing it at all! I fall asleep randomly on the couch and wake up to my kids being confused as hell (I’m not a napper) and wondering when I’m going to feed them. Which is a whole other mission on its own because food is disgusting and I can hardly look at it let alone smell it and touch it. Blech. Can’t they just take care of themselves already?! 😂 Fourth pregnancy is rough.
  • As soon I get home from work I lay down and take a nap until dinner. So not very well! I don’t usually nap or have more than four total hours of sleep a day
  • My best friends wedding is in late October. I’ve been looking for some cute float or maternity dresses to wear! Let me know if you find some somewhere
  • @mrsbuddd sounds like you should grab some uncrustbles and let them fend for themselves when they defrost.

Glad I'm not the only one barley making it through!

  • It is hitting me how different managing symptoms this time around is while dealing with a toddler.  The exhaustion is brutal and comes in unexplainable waves where I have to lay down.... screen time is on a temporary increase....
  • The exhaustion is real! I work 12 hour shifts on my feet all day and I'm barely making it through. I drink 1/2 of a tall coffee and that helps a little. On my days off I give in to napping, sometimes multiple times a day. Can't help it. I have a huge to-do list but the next thing I know I'm waking up on the couch, all disoriented. Ugh! Can't wait to get my energy back!
  • @dmd2019 the exhaustion is horrible! I recoup Saturday and Sunday. My week starts out ok but by Thursday and Friday I'm so exhausted I'm miserable. I work every day 8-5 and even better, I'm a preschool teacher. I chase on average 25-30 kids around between my Pre-K and wrap-around care classes, then come home to my own 14 year old and 3 year old at night. Oh and dh works at night- usually leaves as soon as I get home from work. Dh usually has Thursdays off, so I usually crash from 6p straight through till my alarm at 6a.

I did tell my supervisor that by September or October I will no longer be able to physically handle the wrap-around care, but if this exhaustion doesn't leave I'll have to stop that even sooner (I'd be done work at 3 instead of 5).
