@themadcamel Make it an appt one. LOL.
  • @lillywonderland 2nd tri gif party?? I can change it again lol. This is what I get for being extra perky today.
  • @themadcamel Haha, I meant to do that a couple weeks ago. That works also!! We need a Anatomy scan thread and the appts for April. Which one do you want to claim?
  • @lillywonderland I'll go ahead and change it to the appts thread. You make the anatomy scan one :)
  • @themadcamel You got it!! I’m proud of you for being so perky this am!! 😜
  • I thought I was doing a pretty good job dressing to hide my bump and keep my secret a bit longer. That theory blew up this weekend. A friend visited and as soon as I opened the door she said she knew I was pregnant.

We also had a party for my MIL's bday with his extended family. His aunt walked in and said "You have that look about you! Will you be making an announcement today?" I just literally ran away from her - because we were announcing to his family yesterday, but not until everyone was there and not till DH was able to say it.

My sister in law also said "I can see it in your face now" (She's known since 6 weeks). SOOOOO I guess I'm going to have to tell work this week?!

  • @themadcamel @lillywonderland you two are cracking me up this morning!

I have a random!!  I need a new (bigger) car.  Right now I have a Mazda CX-3 and it's teeny.  Does anyone have experience with Toyota Highlanders, Honda Pilots, or Subaru Outbacks?  I'm looking for way more backseat and trunk space and am horrible at making big decisions like this...
  • @MsBeachNJ Lol, kinda me too - I thought I was doing an okay job of dressing, but this weekends MIL, FIL and my Mom all commented on my gut/baby. I tried to play if off like I was drinking too much beer, but it didn’t work! (Obvi I was kidding, they all have known since like 5 wks).

@RedBreast35 Dunno. We’re looking at getting a Toyota 4Runner in a couple weeks/months. My sister has one of the subaru suvs (but not the outback one) and she really likes it.
  • @RedBreast35 I have a Subaru Outback and totally love it. I would recommend it to anyone. My only thought is that it isn't super wide, so I'm not sure if the backseat space would be more than the Mazda.
  • @RedBreast35 I have a Subaru Outback and I LOVE it. I can’t remember where you’re from, but if you get snow, it is one of the best vehicals you can get. I can fit 3 regular car seats comfortably and a whole bunch of stuff in the back. One thing I will note is that the drivers manual says to put the car seat on either side rather than middle for a proper fit.
  • @lillywonderland I drool over 4runners on a regular basis.
  • @RedBreast35 Not an Outback but I have a Forester.  LOVE it.  It's got good space in the back seat and the trunk is super big.  It's not as long as the Outback so you might have a little more room with that.  More height with the Forester which we opted for b/c my husband is tall.  He probably would prefer more leg room in the front when he was sitting in front of the girl when she was still rear-facing but now that she is forward-facing it's better for him (though he prob would still like more leg room).

One of the things I love best about the Forester for kid hauling (and this might be true for the Outback too, though I'm not sure) is that the doors open super wide, so it makes finagling an infant carseat in and out much easier.

The Forester won't fit a third in the back for us (unless we get some special narrow seats), so we will be getting a bigger car (still keeping the Forester, just trading my husband's sedan in).  We are staying in the Subaru family because we've been really happy and they are some of the safest out there.  Looking at the Accent.  Not just for now to fit all 3 but just in the future as the kiddos get bigger and we need to lug around all the various gear for activities and travel.  Might as well upgrade now.

  • Oh and I'm 5'5" and my husband is 5'11" for reference in terms of leg/height room.  Not super tall but to me he's tall!  :-)
  • @lillywonderland thanks lady! I'm for sure going to need a nap at lunch time at this rate :joy: !
@RedBreast35 we currently have a Honda CRV, but I've driven the Pilot and liked it. My last 3 cars have been Hondas and they're easy to drive and maintain.
@MsBeachNJ oh boy, it sounds like it's time to spill it! I lol'd at you running away from YH's aunt. I told the rest of my coworkers this morning, and it really does feel great not to have to hide it anymore.

  • I've told my boss but none of my co-workers and don't plan on doing so.  They are a bunch of either married dudes or young single 20'somethings that know better than to dare say anything to a woman about looking pregnant.  It's gonna be fun watching them squirm the more obvious it gets :-D  Friend of mine at the company did the same thing in her last pregnancy and highly recommended it lol.  We gotta get our kicks somehow.

Also, once they do know, it'll be fun being a walking reminder to the young singles that contraception isn't 100% effective :-D

  • @kgg2241 @duewithpu2 @LilyASF42 Thank you!  I originally wanted a Forester, but my H is adamant about getting something "significantly" bigger.  I get it, but I hate the thought of paying for so much more than we need (both in the cost of the car and in gas).

@MsBeachNJ I hated when I thought I was camouflaging the bump really well and people noticed anyway.  I think women are notorious for searching out baby bumps on all other women of child bearing age/circumstances.  Stop looking at my midsection- it could just be tacos!!
  • @RedBreast35 what about a minivan????? I never ever ever ever wanted one and swore I never would and here I am with one and love almost everything about it
  • My department knows I’m pregnant but I haven’t told the rest of Radiology. I just started wearing maternity clothes and will let them gossip, haha. I guess a couple people have asked one of my coworkers. At least they know better than to ask me. Not that I’d really mind, I would want to ask “what do you mean?” but probably wouldn’t.

My kid likes watching people playing Minecraft on Amazon Prime and it is driving me crazy. I wish he would watch something else but at least it’s keeping him occupied. I need to get off my butt and do some cleaning/organizing.
  • So my random for the day :-)

As I noted in the crafter post, I'm a cross-stitching nerd :-)  Like, part of a larger online stitching community with FB groups, Instagram network, and YouTube videos.  Went to my first cross-stitching retreat last year (stop laughing!  ;-) ) in NJ and had a blast!  (This isn't your average granny stitching circle, lots of tequila was involved....).

So near where the retreat took place there's a large and very awesome stitching shop.  This is also near my in-law's place in NJ.  So this past weekend while we were visiting I randomly decided to swing by.  It occurred to me there was a chance to run into one of the local people but I didn't really think it would happen.  Well, sure enough I stop in and it only took a few min for me to hear someone say "I think I'll try some of Arlene's cake."  And my ears immediately perk up, Arlene was the main person who organized the retreat.  So I ask "Arlene LastName?"  "Yeah"  "Arlene is here??"  "Yip, there's a bunch of us in the back!"  So I beeline it to the back of the store and get the biggest hug from Arlene!  And there were at least 5 other stitchers that I knew from the area.  My people!!!  It was so nice seeing everyone again :-)  They were all there stitching (they do a monthly meet up there) and celebrating an anniversary.  Unfortunately I didn't have much time to stay there due to other plans or I would totally stay all day there!!

So now, this year's retreat is in the beginning of August.  I already reserved my spot late last year and then January I find out I'm pregnant!  I'll be a couple of weeks into my 3rd tri and so far my midwife doesn't see any issues with me going but of course that depends on how everything is going.  I'm going to be SO BUMMED if I can't go!

  • @LilyASF42 that’s so cool that you cross stitch! I’ve been following some cross stitch accounts on IG recently and would love to learn if I ever have time. My SIL got me a cross stitch decoration for Xmas that I’m in love with and of course my husband wasn’t paying attention while my dog chewed it to shreds the other day! Hopefully everything will be going smooth and you’re able to go in August!
  • @LilyASF42 thats so fun! Where in NJ??

  • @duewithpu2 I've been cross stitching since my mid-teens but it's really been the past 3-4 years that I've become really avid.  I absolutely love it.  Any questions you may have I'll be more than happy to help!  Though it's a bit hard actually showing/teaching anything just in a forum, but I can do what I can :-)  Such a bummer about the pup!  But I can assure you there are many, many other stories among stitchers about pets getting into things they shouldn't and causing some damage.

@MsBeachNJ The shop is in Metuchen, Needleworkers Delight, right on Rt 1.  Last year's retreat was in a hotel down the road.  This year it's also near the shop but technically in Woodbridge, I believe.

And also!  (Apparently I’m really chatty today...)

This whole weekend my MIL kept patting the top of my belly saying how I’m really starting to show. I’m like, I’ve gained less than a pound so far and baby is still way south from there, that’s just my chub you’re patting 😂

And Thursday I finally got my spring cut and greys taken care of (was being extra cautious and waiting to be out of the 1st tri). Went back to my much darker roots. It’s been 4 days now of “Black Betty” playing on repeat in my head lol

“Black Betty had a child Bam a lam Damn thing gone wild Bam a lam!”

  • @LilyASF42 that isn't too far from me! Hope you're able to make the trip!

  • @LilyASF42 cross stitching sounds like fun! And thanks for getting "Black Betty" stuck in my head. :p
  • I don't remember who made a comment, but the Target trade in event is April 22-May 4th! I'm seriously considering trading in our bucket seat but DH would kill me.

@LilyASF42 Black Betty is 100% my jam. My dad redid his pickup "Big Red" and turned her black. Now she's pretty bada** looking so I will only call her Black Betty.
  • Hey friends! Sorry I have been so MIA the last few days! DS is sick. Again. So he's been home and I am LOSING MY MIND. He had a fever yesterday and was all snuggly and sweet and today has no fever so he's being his usual tornado self lol. I NEED him to go back to daycare tomorrow so I can feel productive again! I've said it before and I will say it again. SAHMs you are my hero. I don't know how you do it.

Also, @MsBeachNJ I have an Outback and I LOVE IT!! It's so cozy and I feel so safe while driving it! Plus, I love all the bells and whistles it has (Eyesight, blind spot detector, heated seats, etc.). My MIL has a Toyota Highlander and it's HUGE! A ton of space inside with the third row and it's pretty comfy. It kinda feels like a mini van without being a mini van with the captain chairs in the second row.

  • @themadcamel When I told my 4th graders I had one student say I thought you were looking more round. 😳

All this talk about new vehicles make me want to look at a getting a new one but we should probably wait and save up a bit.
  • @kraane oh man, kids really have no filter 😅. I definitely remember being in school and staring at my teachers all day wondering all kinds of things about them that I’d never say aloud!
  • We just traded in our tiny, terrible Juke for a CR-V. It’s such a basic mom car and I’m totally in love with it.
  • @RedBreast35 Do you like you're mazda?? I have the cx5 and I loveeeee it!
  • @RedBreast35 someone I was recently talking to about how we can't decide on an suv told me that highlanders hold their value the best. He's an expert on cars, so I trust his opinion. I've yet to decide what we're going to get, though!

Also, sorry I've been MIA, work is bananas this week in a good way. I'll be back. :)

@nightdreamr13 I really do like it.  I'm kind of sad to be getting rid of it, and wanted to just upgrade to the CX-5, but MH doesn't think that's going to be big enough ::eyeroll::  For some reason though, I don't like the look of the CX-9...

eta @mamaber2204 Hmm... that's interesting!  Thank you!  What SUVs are you considering?  Hope work settles down a little so you can get back to bumping  ;)
  • Aside from Care.com... how/where do I start putting feelers out for a nanny?
  • @nomangos23 I found mine using a local moms page on FB. Do you belong to any of those yet? I put up a post asking for recommendations and had a few people reach out to me. I checked references and did a background check on my own. I found someone wonderful this way!

  • @RedBreast35 I don't like the cx9 either haha. I guess it depends on how many kids you have and are planning to have. I bought mine 5 yr ago knowing we would have babies before I got a new one. Tho k it'll be fine for 1 kid. 2 may make it difficult for long trips with luggage but fine for everyday use.
  • @MsBeachNJ Do I just search for "moms groups" and my city?
