Sometimes I totally forget that people don't have everything the big city has and think it's so strange that even though we all have the same technology and advancement we don't all live the same way! Another example was my sister lives in a smaller town about 1.75 hours outside Toronto. She wanted thai food but the place didnt deliver. So I said to her just Uber eats, skip the dishes or favour it. She laughed and said what's that?! I had to explain and it totally blew her mind! That some one just drives around picking up whatever you want and you order it on an app! I didn't realize that they wouldn't have that kind of service and totally take for granted it.
Me 33 DH 41 TTC since 2016 Due: October 12, 2018 Location: Ontario, Canada
I never use the cart escalators. I don’t trust them. Last thing I need is my stuff being stuck there. Plus, DS is obsessed with elevators and gets pissed when we don’t use them.
I never use the cart escalators either bc the carts that look like cars my kids can sit in don’t fit in them, and if we don’t use one of those my girls are terrors for grocery shopping.
Have we done a product spotlight on video monitors? We went and registered at buy buy baby (pretty much a list of stuff we want to research). It as nice to get to play around with stuff and realize what high chairs are flimsy, drive around strollers etc. We looked at video monitors and liked 2 at the store but dh was researching last night and they either aren't as good as they claim or don't have the tech we want.
Also not sure if this is too much but good sex positions for pregnancy. There are 'lists' online but either the position doesn't work or is darn uncomfortable.
H likes to be on his knees and turn me on my side. Or we both lay on our sides with him behind me. We like doggy, but #3 is so low and I feel like he just keeps hitting my scar from giving birth to Z. And I hate being on top. Lol
+1 for hating being on top! I'm still ok being on bottem so that's what we've been doing, or doggy, occasionally I'll be on top but only to finish off a bj because it's taking too long and I don't like semen on my hands and it absolutely doesn't go in my mouth lol yuck
Does anybody live close enough to Natick, MA to go to Wegmans there? I just read they have a cart escalator because it has 2 floors and now I need to see it!
I’m about 25 min from there but my bff lives in natick and I’ll ask if she can get a pic!
Usually being on top works for me every time but lately...not really. It’s not uncomfortable and still feels great but just feels like the wrong angle with my stomach in the way or this kid kicking distracts me. We do a lot of spooning which is great for morning quickies but that doesn’t do much for me either. We seriously need to do some creative experimenting.
I'm having a completely silly dilemma over baby books. I had one with ODD (it feels really weird to make that distinction now!) and I took great pains to fill out every single page, print out pictures and everything. Unfortunately her baby book, my pregnancy journal / letters, and the photo album with all of her ultrasound pictures was lost in a move. I want to do baby books for all of my kiddos but I feel terrible that ODD will be the only one without a baby book and ultrasound pictures. DF thinks I'm being silly but I can't help being sad about it.
Ladybug - April 2013 Dandelion - October 2018 Angel "Aurora" - July 2020 Angel "Sawyer" - May 2021 Angel "Maxine" - January 2022 Angel "Violet" - March 2022 Baby Dove due March 2023
It might be a lot of work- but could you ask around to friends and family for baby pictures you sent, check with your doctor’s office to see if they still have ultrasound pics, etc? It wouldn’t be as complete as the original, but you could still create something special.
FYI- my Mom was telling me a few weeks ago that she feels a little bad that my baby book isn’t as complete as my older brother’s, because, as the second child, nothing was quite as new and exciting. It doesn’t matter, I still appreciate being able to see pictures of my fuzzy head. (I came out with a full mane of black hair; it has only gotten longer- and greyer.)

I don’t want to scroll back to find the original post but @purplegoldfish2 yes that’s the one I was talking about!! The cart escalator doesn’t take the kid-friendly car carts though. That wegmans is HUGE. It’s some kind of glorious combination of a bulk/discount grocery store and a wicked high end grocery store. Also it has like 3 restaurants in it. It’s spectacular.

@mytrueloves if it makes you feel better, my mom never did a baby book and I feel like I am missing zero percent of my life by not having one. Maybe its because my family isn't the picture book/sentimental/look at memories type people, but try not to beat yourself up, in the long run, it wont matter that much. With that said, I am not doing a baby book, lol.
AFM, I just kicked my own ass gardening. The woman who owned the house before us told us when we bought the place that she wasn't 'an outdoor kind of girl'. She literally had arcade games int he basement and was divorced and clearly, had never taken care of the property at all. This summer my H and I are fixing that- new deck (hers hadn't been resealed or stained in 20+ years, so it is literally rotting off the house), actual plants (as opposed to her giant lawn/'garden' of pure weeds and trees just growing haphazardly plus ALL THE POISON IVY EVER), redoing the driveway....ITS GLORIOUS.
Thanks y'all. I just put so much work into that baby book, I'm really sad it got lost. I'm secretly hoping it wound up in my mom's junk but if it didn't, I might just go buy a new one and fill it out to the best that I can remember lol

I'm SO glad my puppy is feeling better today! She's pretty much her bouncy self again, but maybe a tiny bit more subdued than normal. @mytrueloves I can't imagine losing all those memories and all that work! I'd be devastated. But I'm with @Kiwi2628 on that too. My mom never did one I don't miss it at all. Mom had told us some things, so that's nice. It's kinda hit and miss with her anymore. She'll remember stuff sometimes and sometimes not and sometimes she'll just come up with some story out of the blue that we hadn't heard before.
@mytrueloves H and I are trying to do baby books, foot prints, keepsakes, all sorts of things for Z and #3 and we feel SO guilty that we don't have that stuff for E. Not like we can do anything about it.... he was kept from H forever and I didn't even meet him until he was 12. But E honestly doesn't care. It sucks but I wouldn't beat yourself up about it. I think those things are more for us than for the kiddos anyway. Hugs mama.
@mytrueloves that’s heartbreaking. I hope it’s in with your moms things and you find it.
We had our photographer make baby books. They were wicked expensive but they’re gorgeous, and I would never have gotten around to doing them myself. They don’t have milestones or whatever in them, just a couple of pictures from my pregnancies and then a bunch of newborn photos and some from their first 6 months.
Woah, cart escalators??? Targets big enough to require two floors???
Mind. blown.
They build up in the cities, since they can't sprawl outward, or put the parking on the ground floor, then the store above. Actually the ones in Chicago that were marketed as "City Target" really sucked, because their prices were higher than the suburbs. I lived right in downtown Chicago in student housing for a year (about 10 years ago), and had nowhere to shop nearby except Walgreen's. I was so excited when they opened a Target a few blocks from school/work. I had moved to another neighbourhood by then, but it didn't have a Target anywhere nearby either. I went to the store when it was new and filled up a basket with groceries without checking prices because I was young and irresponsible, and it was a super unpleasant shock at the cash register!
@melbo444 Oh yeah, I used to work for Target and they price based on nearby competition! So if there's nothing else around, oh boy! You'll definitely be in for some sticker shock!
Wow, I didn’t realize there were so many cart escalators around! I have to admit the one that was posted wasn’t nearly as interesting as I thought it would be. I was picturing those people movers like at the airport only on an incline and teenagers sneaking onto them or going up in the carts. @chyvie We have all of those, well at least the first two I think. I’ve only ever used skip the dish, but have at least heard of Uber eats and assume we have it since we have Uber.
@krzyriver agreed, but I have enjoyed the latest stuff. She blamed her racism on ambien, and Twitter has been hilarious all day. My favorite tweet: “I just took a Claritin and now I’m homophobic.”
I haven't actually been able to find her actual tweet. But I haven't had time to look too hard.
My mom got really into scrapbooking when I was in HS, so I have two awesome books one from birth to 8th grade and one for HS. It's really cool. I'm Debating what I want to do for this baby. I used the "scrapbook" feature on FB that I can tag pictures of baby in and they go to a special album that I can regulate the privacy on. I'm considering a calendar or planner dedicated to milestones for him.
@lest12 yup a few of us have - mentions in two posts (this one and I can't remember the other one.) Had some good deals but definitely confirm price for the big ticket stuff with Amazon/Target before checking out! We got a bunch of equipment for a bargain, but our Extend2Fit car seat was still more expensive
@lest12 So far ours doesn’t have great deals yet. 30-40% off most things, but that just makes it match amazon price. They were still pretty stocked though.
Sorry I’ve missed so much and been MIA. I’ve had the worst cold/virus and have been dead to the world. Now it’s made its way into a horrible cough that is making my lungs feel like they’re on fire. I’m so over not being able to take anything, but Tylenol when I don’t feel well. Any at home remedies that you guys use while pregnant? The coughing is a huge problem bc Im not able to get any sleep and I’m dyingggggg! My MIL (bless her heart) is here today to watch DD and I’m off from work so I was really hoping to nap, but I need to figure how to breathe first.
P.S Tylenol doesn’t do a damn thing!
I was told I could take Claritin D by my OB while pregnant, it saved me from drowning when spring pollen hit, it's great for decongestion. But I was given a list of OTC medications that I could take by my OB. For colds and cough it says: Tylenol for discomfort, Sudafed, Benadryl, Claritin for congestion, Robitussin, Robitussin PE, or cough drops. Hope that helps.
I was going to give myself a pedicure to prep for a wedding this weekend since I don't have time go get one like I was planning. I was going to wait until after the kids go to bed but now I'm thinking maybe I'll try to let them participate. So, am I insane to try to give pedicures to a 2 and 5 year old? probably
@lest12 I went this weekend and everything was at least 40% off. We savedalmost $150 on our car seat and stroller set (Chicco Keyfit 30). They had a ton of clothes at ours (metro Detroit) as well but I didn’t get much since we don’t know if we are having a boy or girl yet. I plan to go back after we find out next week in hopes of them still having clothes left. Most of the furniture was picked over, but they had a lot of small items. They also had a lot of body wash/shampoo stuff that I will probably get next week when I go back if there are still things left.
ETA after reading some of the others above about BRU, definitely still compare to Amazon. Our car seat alone on amazon was $200 and we paid $227 for the car seat and stroller set so definitely a good deal. It was a different color than the one I originally registered for but I like the color I got better so it worked out.
