I was going to give myself a pedicure to prep for a wedding this weekend since I don't have time go get one like I was planning. I was going to wait until after the kids go to bed but now I'm thinking maybe I'll try to let them participate. So, am I insane to try to give pedicures to a 2 and 5 year old? probably
You’re not insane, but it depends on the kid. If you think they’ll love it then go for it. I paint DD1s nails/toes regularly bc when they’re not painted she badgers me about it like 3x a day. I’d suggest putting them in front of the tv while they dry.
So I made DF's favorite hamburger helper yesterday for him and ODD. They both commented that something was weird about it, but I brushed it off because I'd done everything the same way I always did. Then they had some mild gastro issues later in the day, the two of them.
Well I just figured out that the milk I used in the hamburger helper was bad when I used it Oops...

Fellow heartburn sufferers, baking soda mixed with water is the answer!! Incredibly nasty but it worked instantly! My midwife told me to try it after I told her I threw up from heartburn yesterday. I finally gave in this morning and tried it. It was a struggle to keep it down because I didn’t use enough water but 2 minutes and a few impressive belches later it was gone!
UGH. I feel like I need to strip naked and bathe in alcohol. I just found a ginormous tick crawling on me. Its not surprising, given my job, but its the only part of my job that makes me wanna die. ughhhhhhh
Back home after our mini east coast vacation since Saturday. So much to catch up on! Sorry I’ve been MIA this week, but we were trying to cram as much with my family into those 5 days as we possibly could. Had such a great trip though!
Maybe I’ll try to hit up my local BRU this weekend, since it sounds like there’s good deals to be had around pdx @chopchop25?
Is anyone starting to think freezer meals? We just got our deep freezer, and I’ve fallen down the Pinterest wormhole. Want to start a thread to share freezeable, make ahead recipes? We didn’t do too much last time and I wish I’d done more.
I'm glad you said that you wish you had done more, @tinattt23! I was talking to my mom about this the other day and she was like, "Oh, you'll get into a routine and have plenty of time to make dinner! Don't stress yourself out making meals ahead of time."
Like, sure. But...what if I do it before he's here. To me, that's just logical.
Anyway, yes. Forever down some Pinterest wormhole, here. I'm putting together a list of meals I'd like to freeze, as well as pantry items I'd like to have stocked before October gets here.
I think I'm going to do a lot of crockpot prep meals. Like where you cut everything up, put it in s freezer bag and pop it in the freezer. When you want to use it you dump it in the crockpot.
@sliztee The first few weeks weren’t bad. We had plenty of people bringing us food plus the stocked freezer. But after the first month or so, we ended up eating a lot of junk fast food because no one had grocery shopped, there was no time to cook, or the kitchen was so dirty I refused to cook in it. Plus, DS basically lived on my boobs between 6 and 8 every night. This time, with a toddler to feed, we need to be eating better.
Ah thanks! I had gone a few weeks ago and grabbed a bunch of stuff 30-40% off (we got rid of all our baby equipment after #2). When I went today, I found an extra car seat base for 40% off, that was a great deal. I also got nursing bras 50% off and a bunch of onesies for 50% off too! Worth the trip out there.
Well, here's the think @tinattt23 - we don't have family or friends up here. My parents can take care of the food thing for a couple of weeks, but then they're gone and we're on our own! Ugh.
Having a great day so far - MIL is with DS while I’m out shopping for our trip tomorrow. The best thing about this: I am currently sitting down, eating a leisurely lunch by myself while I dick around on my phone. I don’t even know the last time I was able to do this without running around the kitchen, feeding someone else. This is so luxurious!
Hemroids suck. Plenty of fiber, more water than I ever normally drink, no issues going to the bathroom, hydrocortisone.. My little hemroid that was here and gone and repeat has decided to become bigger and a permanent structure.
Why, why, why didn’t I buy everything to make s’mores when I was at the store today? I almost did, and then I put it all back. What was I thinking?! When have I EVER regretted buying something like that?! Now I have to make an emergency post-bedtime run to the store. Pretty sure I’m going to go dark chocolate too.

@sweetsweettooth I had an awful reoccuring problem after DD. Metamucil ended up being my saving grace as far as keeping the issue under control. My dr suggested it... worth a shot?
@DunkinDecaf s’mores have been my latest craving, too! I almost bought more chocolate today but I’m trying really hard to be better about eating everything. I’ll probablu still have a couple marshmallows tonight, though. Baby steps.
@DunkinDecaf haha no I get it... it’s the same reason I have waffles for breakfast - they’re just vessels for the gobs of peanut butter that I really wanted to eat.
My soul just cried at peanut butter on waffles. Waffles should be covered in so much (real) maple syrup that they get soggy and delish. Thats what I want.
Also, great news! The rug for the babies room was delivered! Bad news: It was wayyyyy too heavy for me to lift, so I was waiting until MH got home tonight. Sad news: My H isn;t coming home tonight since his call ran late so he is just staying in the city at the apartment. Wahhhh
I'm so happy to be heading home tomorrow. Boston has been great (today we did the duck tour which was cool) but the really long days, hotel bed, and all the walking have taken their toll. This is the most active I've been my whole pregnancy. Which is great, but I need a break now.
On the plus side, there were some great business discussions with our consultants and the trip was well worth it.
@coffee-saur - I thought the same thing when I was checking before bed last night and just decided to skip it for the evening. I didn’t want to get wound up at the drama.
@pumpkinpancake let me know if you know what your'e looking for! All of the local BRU had different inventory so hopefully I could help spare you some mileage!
