Re: Maternity Clothes

  • Got my Target maternity swimsuits! One of them was perfect and one was just ok, so I'll be returning the ok one. I definitely recommend ordering a couple different styles at once so you have options. The ok one was cute, but didn't really have much room for me to grow. The one I'm keeping has plenty of room for me to grow and is super comfortable. It might get a little saggy in the belly when it gets wet since I'm not that big yet, but eventually I will outgrow that problem. lol.

  • My suit is a used one from motherhood maternity. Room for belly to grow but I am maxed out for the boob area. I am just shy of 20 weeks. Ok I get I am not a small lady but I am pregnant. I was a C cup before pregnancy and while they still fit into the c cup bras it is getting close to getting new bras. Ok motherhood maternity, how are you not accounting for pregnancy boob growth and later after they swell when milk comes in?!? If I am a C which is not all that huge or uncommon, how am I going to be able to keep wearing this? Guess I will have to check out target or say screw it and people will just see some boob over spill.
  • I just wore my regular bottoms and a tank top with my bra. I’m too cheap for maternity suits.  :#

I have to say I hate my maternity jeans, I have to keep pulling them up. Why is the back so high?! I am glad I am in FL, just sporting my elastic waist shorts lol.

  • @bel194 scissor hem is totally in so just cut them off
  • @bell94 my Jessica simpson jeans were also my favorite last time. The elastic panel on them is so much better than the other jeans I had tried. Plus I don’t find they sag as much as others.
  • @bel194 I bought Jessica Simpson jeans at Motherhood and was able to get them in petites so they are perfect length for me. I’m only about 5’ so I would be in the same boat as you if I didn’t get the petites! Those are my favorite ones I bought.

@spartan4life omg, I totally missed that when I ordered online! I see it now of course.  I might need to get more pairs now lol.

  • @SweetSweetTooth I am totally with you there, at this point my boobs look more pregnant than the rest of me and I don't know when they're going to stop! I found a suit that was super big on me last year and it was a vice in the bust area when I tried it on this year...at 18 weeks!

Will definitely be looking at target based on the reviews here, want a one piece that I can feel comfy in and I'm really craving beach time!

@SawyerRichardson I ended up pulling out a bikini top that has lots of coverage and is huge from when I was nursing DD and then buying a maternity bottom (from Target) and that's what I'm rolling with.  It seems easier than trying to find a one piece that fits and doesn't feel too frumpy.

I'm still rocking a bikini this summer as Well! They all fit fine, my boobs haven't seemed to grow all that much. Maybe a little fuller around the ribcage, but that's it.
  • Bought a cheap bikini for at home and the boobs are not fully covered but eh, just going to be around dh and he will love it!
  • Team bikini as well. I got one in a size up last summer to accommodate nursing boobs (which maxed out at a large B, so nothing crazy). Should do just fine this summer. It’s actually nice to wear a bathing suit and not care what your stomach looks like. It’s a baby. Deal people.
  • I have mostly tankini's and skirt bottoms so i'll have to see if they fit.
  • Team bikini! I wore one a few weeks ago and holy crap I guess my boobs did get bigger. I felt so uncomfortable with the minimal coverage and support, so I'm definitely buying a new suit with a more supportive top. I went up about 2 cup sizes, but it was enough for a noticeable difference. Lots of side boobage going on.
  • I got a tankini from Motherhood and felt really comfortable in it in Hawaii. While I was sitting by the pool and chatting with the person sitting next to me, she had no idea that I was pregnant until I mentioned it. The tank top is pretty long, so I think it will still fit if I need a suit later in the summer. I'm not a big pool person, and when I'm on the beach, I'd rather just be in a dress since I don't go in the water past my knees, generally.

I'm pretty sure that my mom got me some maternity jeans from Seraphine for my birthday (I asked for them, and she doesn't usually go off list). I'll probably open them tomorrow night and try them on. My birthday isn't until Sat, but I want to wear them Sat. ;) I also like my Jessica Simpson jeans, but they are pretty tight. I realize this isn't normal, but when I work in ice rinks, I need to be able to fit fleece leggings under my jeans. I have an event Sat-Sun, so I'm hoping I can figure out a solution to stay warm and comfy during my 13-hour day. I'm standing most of the time, so I can't just wrap myself in blankets.

Here's my pro tip of the week: the Goddess maxi dress at NY&Co seems like it's going to fit me nearly all pregnancy, and it's super soft and comfy and light. It looked great on me pre-pregnancy, it still looks great now, AND there's still boob room and belly room. I got it in coral last year, and I'm trying to decide between adding the dark blue or grey now. I'm a medium, 5'6", and it's ankle length, so it will likely be too long for petites.

  • I got a tankini from old navy that’s actually pretty cute. I figure now I can wear the top wth plain black bikini bottoms but I did buy the skirt for later in case my thighs blow up.
  • I have learned that buying maternity clothes off Zulily is not worth it. Their stuff runs small it seems and then returning cuts a ton because of shipping. So now I have a few tight shirts, that I can manage I think.  and 2 sets of leggings that will not even go up my hips.
  • @sammierose464 and I find Zulilys stuff huge! But I’ve only bought shirts and dresses. I can never wear it :/ I forget and order something every once in a while then kick myself.

  • Stopped at Walmart to grab a cheap bikini... not a single top came close to fitting. Even a XXL too was a joke. WTF boobs?!
  • @jynjer91 *laughs* that is the one I got! Boobs are not fully covered but meh, will just be for DH and I to see. Glad I am not the only one though!!

I realized this morning that my three pairs of jean from when I was pregnant with DD 3 years ago all have pockets.  The three pairs I bought for this pregnancy zero have pockets.  WTF.
  • cjx95cjx95 member
@KFrob I bought a couple pairs if shorts and I think one pair has pockets the other pair has back pockets and the last pair only has front.. I mean I'm glad they have pockets but I really like the ability to choose which pocket and Not have 2 eliminated
  • Pink Blush currently has 30% off sitewide, today only (or so it says). I’m not sure if they have a lot of deals like this, but I just ordered a few dresses for my showers so thought I would share!

  • @spartan4life 30% off is one of their better ones!! But they do frequently have sales (10-15% off), so if you're paying full price, you're doing it wrong  :D
  • @jemmerjams That’s what I thought. I think the last time I ordered a few things it was 15 or 20%, but 30 was a good one!

Not helpful to anyone, but I'm so excited about the bag of clothes I got from my mom's old coworker!! Most of them are winter clothes but there are a lot of really cute outfits!
  • I did get the Seraphine jeans from my mom, and they are really comfy with actual pockets! The style I asked for is a little on the Mom Jeans side, but I needed the extra room to put fleece leggings underneath, and they were great for two very long and very cold ice rink days over the weekend. Most of their jeans are about $100, but they are having a good sale right now.

Pink Blush has an extra 50% of clearance today
  • @kfrob thanks for the tip! That is an amazing sale!  This mama has to dress up for work!
  • I know someone asked this so I apologize...how is Pink Blush's sizing? If I'm normally a 16 pant and L-XL shirt...
  • KFrobKFrob member
@sammierose464 This is my first time buying anything from them but the reviews seem to say that the they run true to size.  The two things I ordered we're final sale so fingers crossed they fit!
  • It looks like I'd need the plus size, and they have very little :(
  • @sammierose464 I'm plus-sized and wasn't happy with most of their stuff. Didn't work around my bust. All I own from there are two maxi dresses. Same dress, two different colors. I prefer Old Navy.

  • @sammierose464 I am not plus size (normally a very curvy 8/10 with thunder thighs and a huge butt, pre preg about 168 lbs and 5'8", for reference), but have had to dip into their plus size pants before-I think they run pretty narrow in the leg, but normal everywhere else. I'm also normally a small/medium in tops (I have a smaller waist), and find their larges work better for me for the more form fitting ones. So, I think they run small. But...the size guide they have online is pretty accurate. I picked the large shirts based off my current bust size (36-37", 32G) and it's only slightly too big in the top, but fits great across my man shoulders, so I'm happy.
  • Sorry if this has already been asked. Mobile search is not the best. Any suggestions for yoga/workout pants?

I tried on the target ones that are low in the back and high in the front and that just felt super annoying. The rest of what I’ve seen is online and I’m always hesitant to buy without trying first...
  • @halfanewt literally none of the other pants at motherhood/PP fit my thunder thighs and ass, but the pea in the pod yoga pants fit great for me. They are full panel, but I've been rolling them down because it's hot AF here. Only issue is they are full length and get hot working out in. But no mooning people!
