  • I love consignment clothes and hit up goodwill for my maternity tops. The only things I'll invest in new are maternity jeans and bras lol, but i got one of each at target so I'm set. I'll go back for shorts eventually. I also indulged in a Dwell & Slumber lounge dress and ooooooh my gosh it's heavenly soft. Totally worth the $60. For summer I'm planning on living in my looser maxi dresses and skirts with tanks. I do have a few shirts from motherhood from last time around that i love and an excited to live in, but i found most of them second hand. But honestly most if my post partum clothes from toddler life are going to work well through most if this pregnancy, I've sideways been a fan of button ups and looser tops. Pairing with maternity tanks and leggings and I'm set.

I just got a maternity Stitch Fix box today!  It wasn't as exciting as my normal boxes are but still worth it.  They sent a bunch of semi-basics.   I got a super well fitting pair of jean capris, a set of three support camis, a nice blouse, open cardigan, and another open style top.
  • @KFrob I just ordered a maternity stitch fix box that comes in two weeks. I’m so excited!!! I asked for transition pieces to help me camouflage this awkward in between stage and a dress for Easter and an April wedding.
  • @Kfrob that’s super cool! I didn’t know stichfix did maternity!
  • If you're a leggings gal like myself but want a little tummy support, Time and True leggings at Wal-Mart. In love with them. And they're a little thicker than normal leggins!
  • I had an important morning this morning, which meant I needed to dress up more so than my business casual affair I typically wear at the office.

I went home at lunch...so I could change. Hooray for maternity clothes!
  • Since a lot of us are talking maternity clothes, bumping this one up.

I completely forgot about this thread.

I'd like to not have to buy if I don't have to.. once it gets warmer where I live it's flowy dresses till October!! Though with this weather it'll be cold forever...
  • Has anyone found maternity pajama bottoms with pockets? I'm having trouble finding anything like that.
  • @drurose I wore DH’s pajamas when I out grew mine. His had pockets.
  • @drurose i just ordered these. Less for sleeping and more for lounging but i usually live in h&m sweatpants so I'm optimistic  about their maternity option

  • Thanks! I didn't know they had maternity, that seems like good option. They'd be more for wearing around the house for me too but I hate having to carry my phone around!
  • @drurose word! Pockets are vital
  • KFrobKFrob member
@theglitteredpterodactyl Pockets are the best!  I love when dresses have them.  Which brings me to question why some of my maternity jeans don't have pockets.  Bc you're pregnant your jeans don't need pockets?!
  • @drurose first time around I wore my regular loose fitting PJ bottoms just under my belly.  It was nice because that was one thing I didn't have to buy.  Towards the end when I didn't like anything going over my belly because it was really sensitive so I lived in lounge pants/shorts and sports bras :) My DD was born in August so I was always hot.
  • @kfrob it drives me crazy! Especially because at work I need to have my badge on me if I leave my office to go anywhere (the bathroom, kitchen, cafeteria, get water). I'm so used to having belt loops to attach it to. Now I don't have loops or pockets.
  • I need to check out the motherhood maternity "near" me.

@kfrob that was legitimately my biggest issue with maternity pants when I was pregnant with DS! I mean come on, why do clothes companies think pregnant ladies don’t need pockets?!?
  • @sarahzett I did the same! In fact, I bet we got the same polka dot shirt haha!

And I completely agree - how have I not been wearing maternity pants at least while bloated and PMS-ing?!? I never want to take them off!

I also have to say, I was trying to stretch it as long as I could in regular clothes and I’m so glad I gave in. I’m so much more comfortable, plus might as well get as much use out of them as I can!
  • @Sailing_Mama amen!!! So comfy and I plan on wearing them after baby too! Maybe forever haha

  • I would wear DHs baggy sweatpants everywhere if that was acceptable. I think I may just buy a few pairs of men’s sweatpants to wear around the house because comfort + pockets is king right now and I’m tired of my man bitching that he never has clean sweatpants anymore!
  • @jynjer91 I wore DH’s pajama pants up until the day I delivered. Literally wore them to the hospital. DH whined about how I stole them for months until he was freezing in the hospital. Then he was glad he could steal them back.  :D
  • I’m bumping this thread up since a lot of us are getting bigger now and are probably wearing more and more maternity clothes. I need to go shopping for more summery stuff since I was pregnant with DS mostly in the winter last time, and I hate that basically everything except motherhood is online only. I hate having to ship things back to return when I end up hating how they look/fit. Anyone find any new good places?
  • @pumpkinpancake I ordered a few things from Old Navy this week (they were having a sweet 40% off sale on select items) that I really like! Old Navy is one of the few stores I can trust in sizing (with maybe the exception of blue jeans, but I haven't tried those in maternity yet).

Ross and Old Navy have been my go-to for maternity clothes for all three pregnancies.  Also if y'all haven't checked out Poshmark, you should.  I've gotten quite a few things on there this time around.

  • Old Navy is my go to as well. Though I’m admittedly a very jeans and a T-shirt kind of girl. Nothing fancy over here. Some of the stores around here carry maternity in store, but not all. I order most of it and return to store if necessary.

I won an award and need a formal dress for the dinner. The dress code specifically suggests a long dress (or a pants suit, but my dress pants definitely aren't going to fit, and I'd rather wear a dress) in a dark or neutral colour, and ahhhhh. Everything I'm seeing online looks like a garden party bridesmaid frolic in the flowers type of deal. I am usually down for frolicking, but the dress code colour specificity makes me nervous. I hate wearing black, but I guess a navy or dark green or burgundy would work. I'm not sure if I should get a formal maternity dress, or just find a dress I like with a high waist and room for a little bump. Also it's in Florida and I'm a nervous armpit sweating type, so sleeves are a no. I'm also considering renting a dress, but am really nervous, since I won't see it until right before the event, and we'll be on vacation and then heading straight to the event.
  • @melbo444 have you checked out Rent the Runway? Might be a good option for a dress that you’ll only wear once.

  • @melbo444 - Congratulations on the award!  This is one of the times I would probably go shopping in person.
  • We have a Motherhood Maternity Outlet near us so I went there yesterday and all of their clothes were very decently priced. They even had all pants on sale buy one get one 50% off. I would definitely recommend finding an outlet store if you have one.

Also, I have no idea why I was so resistant to maternity pants...I can’t believe how much more comfortable I was at dinner with friends last night wearing my new maternity jeans! Those things are amazing and I may never go back to real pants.

Petite Moms PSA (I’m 5’1 / 105lb / sz. 0 pre-pregnancy)...I looked everywhere for maternity pants that actually “fit” & I just purchased pants from Old Navy & Target. Old Navy “Rockstar” pants are very slim in hips and legs and go down to size 1 and XS in tops/dresses. Target “Isabel” pants go down to a 0 or 00 (and fit like regular jeans) & XS in tops/dresses ... I know LOFT also carries Petite Maternity & heard great things (they’re just a little out of my price range).

@melbo444 Congrats! I'm feeling the same way about getting a dress for a June wedding in DC.  I’m afraid of being a sweaty mess and everything I'm finding is either too causual, too bridesmaidy, or looks cheap.  Theres nothing in my style. I second checking out ASOS
  • I've gotten most of my maternity clothes from Target. The Motherhood store in our mall had a clearance section and the clothes are priced pretty good. I recommend looking there if you live by one.

Also, I browse at thrift stores, Facebook marketplace and the swap meet for used maternity clothes.

  • If anyone has a Just Between Friends sale coming up in their area, they can be a treasure trove for maternity clothes. I went to one a couple of weeks ago, and the maternity selection was fantastic. Tons of new or barely worn clothes that most people had marked for around $5. I know they can be hit or miss depending on your area though.
