May Symptoms

Re: May Symptoms

  • @SmashJam I’ve been taking loratidine daily even before I got pregnant. I initially was taking Allegra but told to switch to loratidine after pregnancy. It is the generic form of Claritin and non drowsy. I also use a nasal spray, fluticasone (like flonase) and the combo keeps my allergies at bay for the most part.

  • @babygagnon2018 oddly, I've found pharmacists to be more conservative about what drugs we can have than actual OBs/midwives.
  • @SmashJam like others have said, I've been ok'd to use regular Zyrtec since November. I can't function without it, I should seriously live in a bubble. It's already a downgrade from Zyrtec D which is pretty much Zyrtec and Sudafed combined which I normally take, but it's better than taking nothing. Claritin was also approved but I may as well take a tic tac because it does nothing for me. And Benadryl is also approved for me, but makes me too sleepy to function. Hope you find some relief!

@babygagnon2018 Grr. Why do people have to say things like that? Sometimes it's not about comfort, it's about being able to function!

@SmashJam I also take generic Claritin with doc’s ok (just make sure it is not Claritin-d).

Just started feeling really intense kicks right on my belly button, can see my stomach moving. Now I’m paranoid the baby flipped! Could hit feet possibly reach my belly button if he was head down? Trying to picture it...
I’m always so behind on these threads!
Literally I've had intense movement (rolls, ripples, pokes) all over - but mostly level to and left or right of my belly button, an occasion limb up scary high... but little to no movement low. I assumed baby was sideways or diagonal.
Just had a growth ultrasound today and was shocked to learn baby IS head down, facing backwards.

Oh, I also learned at 31+2 baby is 82nd percentile and 4lbs 11oz. Holy freaking crap.
And I’m not eligible for an epidural due to medical conditions. Not gonna be pretty...
  • sm05-2sm05-2 member
@pretzellover, I learned like a week and a half ago at 30ish weeks that my baby was in the 72nd percentile at 3 lbs 11 oz, so I think I may have a big baby, too. It matters a little less for me since I’m having a planned c-section, but I was surprised bc DH and I are pretty small people, and we and our siblings were both born small. I suppose a recessive gene is kicking in?

My other symptom/BF is that last night I threw up right before laying in bed. Why am I throwing up in my second and third tris? And grrr, my nausea has never completely gone away.

DH was very nice and ran to get paper towels to clean up my mess. Makes me feel like he’ll be a good papa!

@sm05-2 DS was an ounce shy of 9 lbs which was surprising to us too. That was at 39 wks, can’t imagine how much bigger he would of been if I went further along.  I was exactly 7 and DH was just a tad over 8. I guess i just make them big lol.
  • sm05-2sm05-2 member
Wow @wildtot almost 9 lbs at 39 weeks! I guess some of us just do make them big!
  • @sm05-2 when I was 30+4 my baby was 3 lbs 10 oz and they said that was 50%. So I don’t think it sounds like you’re measuring that big!
  • @sm05-2 and @wildtot my husband is 6’5 and was 8lb8oz as a baby, so while I knew this was possible it was still a shock bc at my anatomy scan the baby was just middle of the pack.
So... no more M&Ms until after this meatball is out!
  • It is not allergies, so glad I didn't take the meds! Got sick at the grocery store today (made it to the bathroom but poor DS was kinda worried!), and haven't been able to keep anything down for the last few hours. I had my fave meal on the docket for dinner too, spaghetti and meatballs. Woke up from my mini nap after DS went to bed and tried to eat some and I'm starting to feel wonky again.
  • @SmashJam Feel better soon! Hope it passes quickly! Make sure to stay hydrated!

Interesting @zande2016 — I’ll see what the next measuring u/s brings toward the end of the month!
  • @SmashJam hope you feel better soon. Throwing up and very pregnant is the literal
    worst!

  • wildtotwildtot member
@SmashJam hope you feel better soon!
  • I heard measurements can be off by 20% so I'm wondering, in my case I feel like for now it is accurate because I'm carrying pretty small and at 29+4 he was 2.9 lbs.
Curious about the next ultrasound in 2 weeks...both DH and I were 7lbs and change.
  • wildtotwildtot member
Kinda jelly of those of you getting these late ultrasounds. I miss seeing him!
  • @wildtot I had to ask my lazy high-risk Ob to send me for the u/s b/c she didn’t offer it. I’m 38, have a clotting disorder (which means high risk of major bleeding + I can’t have an epidural), an autoimmune disease... and I’m carrying big. So I wanted to know if this baby was transverse, how big my fibroids are, and how big this baby is. (All things my doctor should care about if she spent more than 3 min a month with me!).
So theoretically you could ask and get one prescribed? But - consider yourself lucky if you’re not freaked out enough to need one!

@kissableviv The u/s tech said +\- 10%. I’m hoping your margin of error is closer tho.
  • @SmashJam Sorry you didn’t get to enjoy your spaghetti and meatballs! I hope you feel better soon; that sounds like no fun.

@pretzellover i was high risk with DS and had them all the way to the end. I don’t miss the hassle of driving around but i do miss seeing him and weirded out by how well it’s been going in comparison. My belly is measuring ahead by a bit but nothing concerning and DS also measured ahead.
  • @wildtot same! I’m hoping to talk my doctor into doing a really quick position scan for me at my next appointment. I’m prettt sure he’s breech so I’m going to use that as an excuse. Idk if it’ll work.

In the meantime my mom is coming to visit me and she’s an ultrasound tech and I’m hoping she can find a place to give me a sneak peek while she’s here!!
  • wildtotwildtot member
@hillbillywife hope you can get a sneak peek! I have no excuse with my c section  :(
  • @smashjam feel better!! @wildtot I’d much rather be low risk and not getting them!! I’m so sick of my MFMs office, I hate that they know me by sight now.
  • @SmashJam that was me! I'm glad you're feeling better. Wasn't it the weirdest thing?? Like it literally felt like he was swimming around in all the new "space" I was creating by getting rid of the food and puking! So reassuring but weird as you said.

Anyone notice old scars turning dark? I have a scar on my side boob from a biopsy like 4 years ago. I noticed it this morning it was starting to turn brownish when it’s usually a small white dot. If i break out i also don’t heal the same. There is more discoloration.
  • @wildtot definitely agree about breaking out and not healing the same. My acne scars would usually not stay dark for very long but now I have spots all over my face. I just got this post acne fading gel from Renée Rouleau and I’m hoping it helps!
  • @wildtot I wonder if it’s because of the extra hormones? Like why our nipples get darker and some people get the linea nigra or pregnancy mask?

I have old stretch marks that are more noticeable now. I’m banking on them settling down again after baby.
  • wildtotwildtot member
    @hillbillywife that would make sense!
DH got a glimpse of my two old stretch marks and was like “did you hurt yours, are you going to be ok, does it hurt?” Lol yeah hope they lighten up again afterwards.
  • @SmashJam glad you are feeling better!

@wildtot I just noticed this today actually my scars from my gallbladder surgery and old stretch marks so seem darker

  • Today I was laying on my left side in bed reading and could feel my heart beating weird, like every 3rd beat was extra hard and off rhythm. Anyone else experienced this? It stopped eventually and I'm on my right side now. Wonder if it has something to do with babes location? It was very odd.
  • Anyone have experience with pre-eclampsia? Im 32 weeks with my second and my first I never had any issues so completely unfamiliar with anything like this. I have a Dr appointment Tuesday where I will ask my Dr as well.
So far all my blood pressures have been great and my urine as well except one UTI in my early stages of this pregnancy. Lately I've been having a lot of cramping and incredibly achey feeling in my upper abdomen like right between my ribs as well as under my ribs on both sides but more so favoring the left. I've not mentioned it because well my uterus is growing so I assumed it was normal. Just this last week I've noticed an onset of crazy heartburn/acid reflux after every meal, normally making me want to vomit. And I've felt like my feet have also started swelling. Of course Dr. Google tells me these are all signs of pre eclampsia which makes me know I need to let my Dr know although I'm not worried I have it. Just curious if anyone has had great BP the entire pregnancy and suddenly it's not? Is it even possible to onset so suddenly?
  • @kbernal2021 no experience here, but I do know pre-e can happen very quickly and a lot of the symptoms of it are similar to those in late pregnancy.. I’ve had a lot of those symptoms myself this past week as well. Are you having any symptoms of high BP, like headache that won’t go away, seeing floaters, peeing less? I would call your doctor if your worried and see if they want to have you in for a BP test, or use a machine at a pharmacy to ease your mind while you wait for your appt.
  • @kbernal2021 I've heard it can come on really suddenly, though if your BP has been great all pregnancy I wouldn't be too concerned...I'd probably go have it checked or check it at home to be safe though. I think the abdomen pain is most concerning if it's on the right side. The swelling is concerning if it's sudden extreme swelling, but generally having swollen feet at this point in pregnancy is totally normal. Watch out for really bad headache  that won't go away, and vision disturbance.
  • Do you know anything about floaters? I noticed last night when I was cleaning my face with a makeup wipe I had little starts floating all over. And my feet were swollen yesterday too (though not badly)
  • @hillbillywife those can both be pre-e symptoms, do you have a BP cuff at home you can check yourself with?
  • @hillbillywife were you rubbing your eyes hard? I get those sometimes even when I’m not pregnant if I’m too rough with my eyes, or weirdly when shaving my armpits, but like pp said could be a pre-e symptom too.

I think my main symptom is unstable emotions right now... I've been so good all pregnancy so far (maybe a little extra ragey) but now everything makes me cry. DH was at a bachelor party this weekend and everytime I talked to him I burst into tears... mostly without reason. Or for very dumb reasons. I feel bad because he told me I made him feel horrible all weekend...
Me: 31 DH: 34  Married: April 2016
    TTC December 2016
    BFP 2/28/17 // CP 3/1/17
    MFI Diagnosis: Aug 2017
    BFP 11/1/17 // DS born 6/18
    TTC January 2019
    BFP 3/21/19 // D&C (MMC) 5/8/19
  • I've had some headaches but none I would consider frequent, just occasional. Tylenol has never touched the pain so that's no different in the instance that when I do have them they don't go away. Not seeing floaters and I wouldn't describe the swelling as extreme. My appointment is tomorrow so if I notice the symptoms again today I'll check with my BP cuff I have at home.
  • I’ve started feeling nauseous and not being able to keep food down again. I’m 30 weeks and am not ok being sick like this again! I had hg but was treated at the beginning of pregnancy. Also having more bm’s than normal. Tiredness is increasing and I just can’t do what I could with my last pregnancy. These twins are kicking my butt!
