@brzvice we did struggle with a similar thing. We decided that we are going to go with the name Jacob for a boy, after our dear friend who is dying of cancer. We told him when we went to visit him last weekend and he was really touched and happy. I think the sentiment will still be there even if we end up having a girl.
@brzvice Man I wanted to be team green (or at least try!) but accidentally found out the sex. BUT honestly, I probably wouldn't have lasted anyways. I was getting the itch to know at 11 weeks. Mad props to you for hanging in there!
@nll0803 Oh man that sounds terrible! Be safe and stay warm!!!
@calimom2524 That's great news about your dad! Hope you guys keep moving forward in a positive direction!
I'm finally going through all the clothes my coworker gave me, and what me and my mother bought. I won't have to buy my son anymore clothes for the first three months of his life.

Guys, I say this will all of the love in the world, but sometimes I get bored of BMB conversations with this being my third go round, and I'm actually pregnant. I know that catfish often have other motivations, like they're usually kind of unstable and lonely and are just looking desperately for companionship, so they join a group of pregnant women online and pretend to be one of them to fit in and make friends. But I seriously don't understand what could possibly be exciting about ultrasounds and food cravings for someone who isn't actually going through it.
To each his own, I guess. I still think it's a total rando and not a regular member of the group. But having been around when the Major Catfish got taken down in 2014-2015, I can tell you that if it is a regular poster, it's who you'd least suspect. It's likely someone who is VERY active and who is giving a lot of very specific details about their life to make themselves more believable. And they probably have access to a bank of hdbd pics, so using that as a clue isn't going to work unless you're analyzing everyone's pics from one week to the next for inconsistencies. That woman was basically their board's mascot and NO ONE suspected her until her stories stopped adding up and she got greedy and invented an AE for her "wife." Probably best to just ignore it and hope that they disappear with the move to FB in a few months. So start thinking of good identity confirming tactics in advance of that move and we should be good.
@delujm0 As a Bump noob and FTM I would agree with your assessment. Regardless of whatever social media I'm a part of, be it Facebook, online hobby forums, or even online multiplayer games...the general rule is to ignore the trolls. When they don't get the attention, they'll fade away into the obscurity they deserve. So I get really frustrated with the needless pot-stirring of the troll posts that makes our group look like a bunch of drama craving catty gals to the outside observer, or the new person looking to join late thinking we're dog-piling onto some other innocent member.
I just report the obvious troll posts and hope the Admins are cognizant enough to delete the threads before it gets out of hand. Honestly I wish they'd nominate a couple of people who are actively participating in that BMB to act as moderators that can shut the troll stuff down, since the Admins are often late to the show. Or have it like some online comment sections, enough down votes from the rest of the members and the threads/comments are hidden and removed.
@delujm0 agreed. I was part of TB at that time and I’ll say this: the random trolls that like to stir the pot are pretty obvious. They want to get people riled up on purpose. And they don’t put a whole lot of effort into it, not like a catfish situation.
But Bread reminds me of a catfish specifically because some people LIKE letting others know they are there, pretending to be part of the group. Pretending to be a beloved member of the community. They like the power they get from putting it out there and then continuing to see how they can crack the group.
It’s annoying for sure and I think the situation from years ago was the same person who made both theirs and the “wife’s” account. They’d go back and forth to throw people off.
I think it very well could be someone from this board because a random troll wouldn’t really care. A catfish enjoys the attention.

This thought has never crossed my mind and if a newcomer comes along and judges us all based on one thread, which is usually handled quite kindly - redirecting someone to the correct posts or whatnot - until the “troll” shows their true colors and starts berating folks... and even then, I think BumpAdmin can be quick to sensor even the slightest out-of-tone response, so there’s never really a chance for the post to turn into “drama craving catty gals”... but if a newcomer gets that turned off, that quickly, then odds are, they won’t care for the general tone of this board anyway.
@neeraja_k if they frustrate you so much just ignore them. This isn’t the first time you’ve mentioned the catty group of drama queens on this BMB but honestly, you could be on any other BMB or Board here and encounter almost identical reactions to such posts. It’s as @dirtanddiamonds said, there is a general tone on TB and maybe you think the snark is exclusive to August ‘18 but I assure you it’s not.
I don't mind the snark and the general keeping it real vibe on TB. My cousin just got disciplined (for lack of better words) on her FB mom group for pointing out that the name Brock Lee sounds too much like Broccoli and not being "supportive enough". I'd prefer a group where someone says 'that name sounds like a damn vegetable'.

We had a new hire start last week, so I’ve been training most afternoons. It is cutting into my time on TB, which isn’t cool! It’s so hard to catch up after a whole day of being away, but I’m trying!
@calimom2524 so happy to hear this!! @nll0803 oh no!! I hope it all gets taken care of sooner rather than later!
Okay so I have a friend in the hospital who will hopefully be there for a number of more weeks. I grabbed stuff for a boredom basket but am worried I’m missing things. Here’s what I got - any thoughts?
sticker books for her kids easter decorations (small) to make it feel more homey adult coloring book/colored pencils candy snacks A book a ‘you got this’ water bottle a hair mask and face masks lip balm face cleanser wipes

In the past I've liked music, either a stereo with CDs or a MP3 player, and adult activity books with crossword puzzles and sudoku, depending on how awake and alert I am. That sounds like a nice gift!

@hardlyhannah I’d add in some lotion! My hands and feet got sooo dry when I was on bed rest. Also some hair ties (can never have enough), and a few nice pairs of socks. Some family friends sent me a fun set with the days of the week on them - they were bright and happy and made me feel good. Bonus if they have grippers on the bottom like hospital or yoga socks. That is a great list though! She’s lucky to have a friend like you.

I officially have no "kids" as of today. My DSS, who I've been with since he was 5, is now 18. So many mixed emotions! I can't believe my little boy is a man. He stayed up late (after midnight) so he could register to vote and for selective services. I'm so proud and sad and nervous, and relieved, and, and, and... just everything.

@hardlyhannah - those are wonderful gifts! Ditto PPs that you're a good friend My girlfriend brought me a bunch of magazines that I NEVER read like people and Us weekly and stuff like that - it was so fun to get lost in the lives of celebrities And yes to the lotion and I'm going to add chapstick. Hospitals are so dry and wreck my skin
Yup I have some Lip Balm in there already! I thought about magazines but had kind of maxed the budget at that point. I'm feeling better about my choices, thanks again everyone!!

+1 to the chapstick and lotion! I used both constantly the few days I was in the hospital after DS. @hardlyhannah I think the basket/care package is a wonderful idea! I'm sure your friend will love it!
TGIF - I am leaving work early today and we are traveling to see my sister and her family this weekend. Her and I are going to a concert tomorrow night and leaving the boys in charge of the kids. She has an 11 and 6 yo girls who DS absolutely loves! He's been talking about seeing his cousins all week. I'm also excited for a fun night with my sister! Also, got an email from FitBit finally and they are sending me a replacement! I sent mine in to them almost 2 weeks ago since it wasn't working. This is now my 5th one in 4 years, but hey, I don't have to pay for this new one, so I'll take it!
@lolog531 - you're having an awesome Friday! Can I ask what Concert or would it give too much away on a public forum lol! Either way, I hope you have a wonderful time!
@lolog531 - you're having an awesome Friday! Can I ask what Concert or would it give too much away on a public forum lol! Either way, I hope you have a wonderful time!
All it would give away is the city if you looked it up, and it's a rather large city, so I'm not too worried! We are going to see Pink!! Neither one of us are mega fans, but she got tickets at face value from her neighbor, so she got them for me for Christmas! I have heard she is an amazing performer, so I'm excited for a good show! I haven't been to a concert in awhile. We also got a hotel room, so we will have a whole night to ourselves!! The 3 hour drive home on Sunday will suck - we lose an hour with time change and daylight savings, but trying not to worry about that!
@hardlyhannah That sounds like a great gift box! I really like crosswords and suduko so I'd love a book of those kinds of puzzles, but that may not be your friends style.
Since next week is spring break, I won't get to celebrate Pi day (3/14) with my students - so we're celebrating today. They brought tons of pie and cake and we're doing nothing but eating sweets all day. It's glorious.
!!!OMG!!! I went with my best friend and our husbands to see Pink a few years ago and it was so much fun!!! She really puts on a great show! Have a wonderful time!
I have a pair of Rothy's pointed toe ones that I wear at work. I really like them, but there's no support in them at all. Are Tieks better for that? I'm considering getting a neutral pair, but I wonder if that's dumb to get while I'm pregnant and my feet could get bigger. Thoughts?
There's not much support in Tieks either but I have a relatively flat foot so they work really well for me. It's never dumb to buy tieks, in my opinion lol. However, I used to be a solid 9 and now I'm a definite 10.
I'm so surprised that you like them if you have flat feet! I started buying a bunch of Tieks because I love the look. Then after wearing those and flip flops I was getting horrible arch pain each morning and went to a foot doctor and she was like, um yeah, you have collapsing arches (so flat feet when I stand up) and these literally have no support for the arch because they bend in half, they are the worst possible shoes you could be wearing! I am jealous that you have flat feet but are able to wear them, I had to sell all of mine on E-bay after that (though honestly the toes always scuffed really easily on mine, like surprisingly so). Seeing yours all the time makes me miss them but thinking back I'm like, why would I buy something with so little support!
ETA: I am SO happy to read about your dad I hope this means he has turned a corner. I mean come on, first granddaughter, that's exciting!
@lolog531 have so much fun at Pink! I think those are the types of concerts where you don’t have to be mega fans you can just go and have fun, and she’s got plenty of songs you’ll recognize!
