@hezzer78 and @melprop thanks for the advice. I got some shorts from target yesterday and they are the full front panel and crossover back panel. I usually wear a 4 and had to size up to an 8 and they fit perfectly. They didn't have any pants that didn't have "fashionable" holes in them so I skipped pants there. I was surprised that the maternity section at my local target was really only like 3 racks of clothes. I tried on a bunch of pants at Macy's, some of which were motherhood maternity brand, but I was easily a medium to large, which i wouldn't have guessed (also, why are a bunch of maternity pants just SML type sizes?!). I struggled to find my size in the actual pants that i liked and eventually gave up. I've gained 9 pounds total this pregnancy so far at 18 weeks so it was really defeating to feel like my size had somehow changed so much. I think I might try ordering some from old navy today. Im scared to stick with my old size since yesterday and may try ordering them in a 6 and just see how it goes!
@doctormom33 Yup. I usually wear a 12 in Old Navy, so I bought a 12 in the maternity pants and they fit great. The ones I bought have the side panel elastic and I found them really comfy.
There's no pockets though Is this a thing with maternity pants?? I've bought 3 pair and they all don't front pockets.
I think it’s an Old Navy thing. I have maternity pants with pockets, but the ones I have from there have fake pockets.
The thing I don’t like about Motherhood Maternity is a lot of their clothes (even pants) are XS/SM/MD/LG/XL instead of number sizes, so it’s hard to know what size you are there without trying a bunch on.
What is it with designers making women's clothes without pockets or tiny pockets that don't even fit a $? Women have made it very public we love pockets, why do they continue to torture us?
@lalala2004 Yes! Why only sm/med/lg? I can't wear pants from the women's section when not pregnant, and there aren't many (any) junior sized maternity clothes. I have two pair of mat jeans that are ok, but both fit really weird/big/long. My belly at least holds them well now. Buying jeans sucks big time when I'm my normal fit, I gave up completely trying to find anything close to perfect for maternity clothing. If I can get it on and it stays up it's good enough for these couple of months. My standards are really low. I've been wearing a lot of leggings.

@doctormom33 I totally feel your pain on this. I couldn’t find a single thing at Target and even if I did, I had to size up like 3 sizes which made me feel like shit. Definitely try Old Navy. I also had good luck with Gap and H&M, though only in shirts. I lucked out with the pants at my local Motherhood store fitting me okay. The nice thing about ordering online from these stores is that you can always return in store if it doesn’t work, even if they don’t have a maternity section.
