awesome!I am leaning toward the Obsidian too. I have the Metallic Bronze and I am sad to see the scuffs in it, I am fairly gentle with them, or so I thought. The scuffs aren't noticeable from afar but for that much $$$ I want to wear them for a long time! Have you ever tried Tory Burch fats - comparable in price. I have a pair of Caroline flats - they are so freaking uncomfortable! I was thinking about getting Reva's but if they are as uncomfortable, there would be no point!

@legallykate we have the Hemnes long dresser and nightstand for DS and are planning on getting the same for the new nursery. I really like the look and construction (though we are getting white this time and it comes with black drawer pulls, which I will be swapping out for something else). We have an unrelated crib.

For the changing pad, I just got one from Buy Buy Baby, and honestly it's on the ground for DS now, and for BK2 it will just rest on top of the dresser, I may put some of the nonslip grip padding underneath but it wasn't an issue with DS at all. I also got one of their felt organizer bins to keep diapers, wipes, cream etc in, with a little book light to see during nighttime diaper changes!

Since I've found the right fit and style of Tieks for me I haven't really branched out but I do want to try the Rothy's ones. I haven't tried the Tory Burch personally but a lot of the women on the Tieks FB group say they're uncomfortable. I pretty much either live in my keen hiking boots, Tieks, or chuck t's.

I have a pair of Rothy's pointed toe ones that I wear at work. I really like them, but there's no support in them at all. Are Tieks better for that? I'm considering getting a neutral pair, but I wonder if that's dumb to get while I'm pregnant and my feet could get bigger. Thoughts?

There's not much support in Tieks either but I have a relatively flat foot so they work really well for me. It's never dumb to buy tieks, in my opinion lol. However, I used to be a solid 9 and now I'm a definite 10.

I wasn’t sure if it could be hiccups this early, but count me in on that one! Yesterday baby boy was kicking really rhythmically (like hiccups) near the side of my belly when I was on the phone with DH. I was able to actually see it from the outside which was crazy to me this early (18 weeks)! I got a couple of them on video after that. I love this part of pregnancy  :)

+1 on the IKEA Hemnes long dresser. We got it for our nursery before DS and it’s been so perfect! The perfect height for a changing pad on top, diapers, socks, and small essentials in the top drawers. When he was younger, I had one drawer of the current size of clothes, one drawer with the next size up, one drawer of current pjs, and one drawer of swaddle blankets. I need to organize it again, but when we end up moving to a bigger house I’m getting another one for this baby!

All this tieks talk haha! I need to wear mine more often. I have black ones, I can’t remember if they’re matte or patent, but I only really wear them when I’m dressing up a bit. I’d like to get another pair in a fun color though!

This is more of a question, but I didn't think it was worth reviving the questions thread. Do you think blue cheese that's cooked on a pizza is safe to eat? I'm going out for girl's night and we always order a blue cheese and onion pizza that is to die for. Google seems to think cooked blue cheese is safe. And if it's pasteurized then you're fine anyway.
  • Options
    @melbel0824 I’d go for it!
  • Options
@melbel0824 I’d say you’re fine. Majority of the soft cheeses here in the US are pasteurized anyway. I think the general “don’t eat soft cheese” rule is more for other countries nowadays. But being cooked especially, I don’t see an issue.

@melbel0824 I'm not an expert or anything, but I would think if you're going to a restaurant, they're going to use pasteurized products. Unless you're at like an ethnic place that might be using some imported stuff...?

  • Options
@melbel0824 - ditto the other ladies, I'd say you're fine. Especially if this is a place you go to frequently and haven't had issues with the food. It's actually hard to find non-pasteurized cheese in the US, the only place I had an issue was when we ate at a legit farm-to-table type restaurant and I asked about the cheese. Even they pasteurized and they were this little family owned operation. Enjoy!

I've mentioned that girl I went to HS with who posts ridiculous things on Facebook (like how she got her engagement ring engraved for free because her and her husband were the cutest couple ever). Well for International Women's Day, she decided to post like fifteen glamor shots of her and her bridal party from her wedding. Not just coincidentally and today happens to be IWD. Specifically in honor of it.

She loves to one up me, so I wonder what she's going to do when we announce next week- she loves posting drunk pictures, so does she give up alcohol to get pregnant or continue posting pictures of her "just soooooo drunk"? We'll see!

I was at the gym earlier and started to feel bad. I've had this bad feeling before, pregnant and not: light-headedness, dizzy, feeling "fuzzy" in extremities, shaky, almost like I am going to pass out. I stopped what I was doing, found a chair and propped my feet up. I thought it might be low blood pressure because my BP at my appointment yesterday was almost considered "low." After I started to feel a little better I went to CVS and used their blood pressure cuff. My readings were 144/80 and almost immediately after that 125/68. A few minutes later it was 120/67. I am not sure if the 144/80 was an incorrect reading because I am not sure my arm was in the cuff right. Anyway, I called my doctor's nurse line and she said it sounded like high BP, even though, from what I understand, you don't usually have "symptoms" of high BP. If anything, I thought it was low BP or a drop in blood sugar. I feel better now, but not 100%. Got some Pedialyte in case my "whatever" was off (so scientific) and ate some almonds. Didn't skip a meal, have been drinking PLENTY of water and even pooped today.

Something similar happened in my son's pregnancy when I was just sitting at my desk and I had someone drive me to the fire department for a vital check, where all was normal.

    WTF BODY.

@Firemanswife11 So scary!  Glad you're ok!  Did it happen while working out before or after a workout?  I'm a marathon (or I should say "was" and hope to be again) runner and I have a similar issue when my blood sugar and electrolytes drop.  Water doesn't replace them so I would drink pedialyte before big races.  But I would get freezing cold and be covered in goosebumps.  Like during a race in the hot sun I would be freezing.  Any of that sound similar?

@livinthesunnylife it was right at the end. I was really cold and clammy and sweaty. Just weird!
  • Options
@Firemanswife11 - that sounds exactly like what happens when my blood sugar crashes. I get shaky, sweaty, clammy, and feel dizzy and just 'off'

Have you had issues with blood sugar before? Gatorade or chocolate milk is a really good solution for bringing it back up pretty quickly. I really hope it doesn't happen again!

Your symptoms sound like how I feel when I get an "adrenaline crash". After a really stressful event where I get the adrenaline rush then immediate crash I get cold, clammy, shaky, fuzzy feeling, sweaty, feel like I'm going to pass out, blurry vision, and then I have to pee A LOT. The peeing is how I know it was the adrenaline and not something else.

And that stressful event could be literally anything, like someone narrowly missing me while driving, having a really good fight in a computer game, or even my anxiety kicks in over something it perceived as something to freak out about, like gas induced heart palpitations.

My high blood pressure symptoms were headaches in the back of my head and being able to "hear" my pulse in my neck/ears, other than that, no symptoms like that.

Most folks I know who have experienced low blood pressure symptoms just reported feeling lethargic, dizzy, and out of it in general.

Bodies are weird. Hopefully you feel better soon!

I had similar symptoms with numb extremities, shaky, sweaty, tunnel vision, heart palpitations, and blacked out twice with DD. I'd usually have an emotional breakdown/adrenaline dump afterward because it was effing scary, especially in public. My OB ordered a holter monitor study during the worst of it but a cause was never found. Might be something to ask about though?

14 inches of snow yesterday, power went out at 2pm yesterday afternoon. Currently have a blown tranformer in my backyard, and down live wires. Generator is up and running, but I miss the comforts of electricity, especially since we don't have a wood burning fire place. If we did, I would be much happier!

@brzvice - that is really beautiful. Could you tell your grandfather that if the baby is a boy, he will share the name? That way he knows you want to honor him. I'm so sorry he is in the hospital, I hope he makes a speedy recovery and gets to meet precious Frederick or your sweet baby girl
