I LOVE MATERNITY PANTS!!!! I love them so much. I wore them for at least 3 months after having my daughter. They are so comfy and I already broke a few out of their lonely drawer this week. Mine all came from Target, Motherhood and a few online. I'm about to order some one Zulily because they are $17 and super cute. I love Zulily.
One big advice I would give is to buy maternity clothes you can nurse in afterwards so you get the best bang for the buck. You'll end up wearing it longer and getting the most use out of it. I didn't do that my first pregnancy and I ended up having to buy a bunch of nursing tops. I did make sure the nursing tops were also maternity tops for my second time around.
I hope to get some used, in particular office wear (since that's usually only use pre and not post pregnancy)! Lots of lots posted on various used clothing sites/boards
I didn’t buy a ton of maternity clothes because I didn’t start to show until 5 months or so. I bought some cute maternity tops at Target and Old Navy, but the rest of the time I lived in yoga pants, maxi dresses, and flip flops. That was in sunny CA, though. Now I live in a state with seasons. So I’ll probably be in sweats and slippers by October. Lol
Is it too early to start shopping? I’m so on the fence. Baby #2, clothe still fit fine, 9 weeks Tuesday. But if I see something is it too soon to buy it?
Storq.com has an “essentials pack” which comes with a pair of leggings, a pencil skirt, a T-shirt dress sand extra long tank. It is a bit pricey but you could live in these things throughout the summer! They have other products too... but again, be prepared! Kinda pricey!!! I love Poshmark but haven’t seen too many cute items listed just yet, hoping that changes as it warms up!
@cdepperschmidt nope. I am a FTM and just hit 8weeks and have been wearing maternity jeans for the blump for probably a week. I ordered some tops and leggings from Kohls and and wearing one now.
Anyone tried the Ruby Ribbon (home party company) nursing cami? I haven't used any of their stuff but saw they now have a nursing cami and was curious about it.
My favorite maternity tops and jeans came from Gap, the sizing seemed consistent with my prepregnancy size. My favorite maternity tank tops were from Target though.
@SweetSweetTooth I’m still nursing DS and wear regular camis daily. I gave up on the nursing ones pretty quickly. Too pricy. Didn’t fit as well as my other cheapo ones anyways. I pull my tshirt up, pop a boob out the top of the cami, unhook nursing bra. Everything stays pretty covered up besides the important stuff. Sure, some of my camis have gotten a little stretched, but I’d rather stretch my $2 F21 camis than spend $20 a pop on enough nursing camis to wear daily.
For plus sized ladies: I live in Old Navy Maternity yoga pants and Motherhood’s Bump Start tank tops. Even after baby, I kept wearing them. Old Navy was alright for me looking for cheap stuff, but the fit is hit or miss around my bust. I mostly wore those tank tops and then my nice open sweaters and kimonos from Lane Bryant. I got my baby shower dress from Pink Blush but options were limited and I ended up with a fairly plain maxi dress that I only bought because I had nothing blue and it was on sale. I know other plus size girls that’s liked their dresses, but the few other things I tried from there just didn’t work for my boobs.

ditto to @kfrob -- got some late-stage maternity shirts at target for less than 6 bucks after being on clearnance + 20% off with cartwheel app. did have to buy a new bra for the growing girls.
also old navy is having a sale on jeans through today or maybe tomorrow -- $20 bucks for side panel jeans. (also had full panel).
Ditto on the storq clothes - I got a pack with DS and lived in the dress, skirt and tank. They are sooo comfy, wash well and have a really good fit but are pricey @linssears4
What about swimwear? If I buy one for a four-month bump, does it stretch enough to be able to use for a couple months after?
We have a trip to Maui at the end of May. Doc reassured me that it was fine to travel, so now I'm nervous about a) flying without the aid of anti-anxiety meds or alcohol ("flying juice") and b) fitting into a swimsuit and not feeling awful.
I got most of my maternity clothes at consignment stores last time around. I liked how I could really see what would last and what would just stretch out. I did buy a few things new from old navy, target, and motherhood maternity.
Pea in the pod jeans were awesome, but full price they would've been like $95, which was more than I would have wanted to spend on maternity. I found them second-hand for $15.
i was extremely disappointed in most of the stuff I got from motherhood maternity. I think I bought 5 items there and by the end of my pregnancy 3 of them were falling apart. I've heard good things about their nursing camis, but i was never willing to give them a try after my bad experience.
The first time around I was all about the full panel but I had horrible MS and anything putting any pressure on my belly would make me feel worse. This time I am not very sick and I feel like the shorter panel is more comfortable in early pregnancy because the full has a tendency to slip down if your belly just isn't big enough yet. It's all personal preference.
I bought my prepreg size. By my 9th month and the stuff that fit me best during my first trimester was too small by then. The things that seemed a little loose at the beginning wee still ok. But I mostly lived in yoga pants anyway. The panels are designed to stretch through your whole pregnancy but I found that where the pants and the panel meet sometimes didn't stretch enough and became uncomfortable later.
@melbo444 I'm wondering about swimsuits also. My gripe is that all of the ones I've looked at are so stinking frumpy. I also wondering how people feel about maternity shorts?
I went to the beach at 9 weeks and wore my regular suit. Then at 28 weeks wore my regular bottoms with a maternity top. It feel well at 28 weeks, but still had room to grow.
I hate shorts to begin with, but I have a pair that are normally a bit too big and have that front panel with the buttons on either side (like sailor style) and I'm hoping they might work by sitting under my belly.
@lolo_0924 if you are petite I would just try h&m. They were the only store with pants that worked for me. Don’t even bother with target they were all so horrible on me. I found one decent pair at old navy but really h&m saved me. Shirts are less of a big deal so pretty much anywhere everyone else has said will work!
How do you keep your nipples from being painfully obvious through your shirt with stretchy maternity bras? I've got some serious headlights going on here.

Anyone have to deal with maternity scrubs? I've been told just buy a huge scrub top and bottoms but I buy my scrub bottoms in small/short so if I go a larger size the leg size increases tremendously. And maternity scrubs are expensive - I don't want to pay for it tbh.

@nayyoume I hated the pants, loved the top. The panel on the pants never stayed up on my belly. I got away with pushing my scrub pants underneath my Bump forever and then I just bought old navy maternity yoga pants and no one noticed. But I just worked at a nail salon.
The top was super comfortable tho. I was pregnant all through summer and couldn’t stand anything too tight.
@nayyohme Maybe look around to see how much it would be to adjust the hem if you have to get larger pants. Or if you are close with someone who sews it is a simple task if you already know how to sew.

I work in a hospital and soon will need maternity scrubs. You’re right, they are so expensive!!!!! I wear size S scrubs but have one too that is a size M (carhartt makes awesome scrubs btw!) that might last me for a while but eventually I think I have to invest in actual maternity ones. $$$$$$$$$

I just bought bigger sizes of the bras I normally wear instead of maternity bras. I normally get slightly padded bras to prevent that from happening.
Since you’ve already got the maternity bras, would nursing pads help or would they be obvious under the shirt?
@nayyohme I have been checking amazon and have found some scrub tops as lows as $18 but the bottoms seem to be more expensive. It depends on the pattern and styles too but a lot of them are very expensive. I am not sure what I will do since I currently were 2xl petite scrubs and I haven't really found that size in maternity. I work in a clinic 5 days a week so I am not sure I want to invest that much in scrubs. I can also wear business casual clothes so I may get 2 sets of scrubs and wear business causal the rest of the week since I could possibly reuse or sell those afterwards.
Some of my favorite t-shirts are from Target, and my favorite pants from Kohls. I have found some really good quality things from Lord and Taylor online recently on clearance.
I bought some clothes this weekend at Burlington Coat factory. I know stores like that can be hit or miss and I don’t know if they all have a maternity section. I was able to get jeans for $15-$20 and some pants for work also for $10.
Just got some clearance maternity jeans and capris from Walmart for $5 and shorts for $3.50-4! Even if they don't last I am ok with it as it was very affordable!
