Re: Thanksgiving Week Randoms 11/20-24

  • @aimsforyou2014 I just wanted to let you know that we are glad you are here and while we may be snarky there is a lot of love and support here. The rules were taken from other bmb's and found to have worked well for them :) Hope you stick around and hope we haven't scared you off :)

  • @pregnant_and_paleo  I’ve heard people say they’re on antibiotics as an excuse for not drinking, since you’re not supposed to drink while taking them.
  • @amylu914 Haha oh god. That's on vinyl? DJ Khaled on vinyl makes a slight bit of sense but...now I have to look up this stupid young dumb and broke song...

In other news, you know you are old when you think you know something young people know but it turns out YOU HAVE NO IDEA, lol.
  • Ok just looked up that song and I couldn't make it 30 seconds. @AKFarmerBecky I would be very annoyed locked in a gym with kids singing/listening to that song on repeat.
  • *snip snip* @flockofmoosen3 you can do whatever you want as far as starting threads, I was just sharing my personal preference.  for the record the bump is known for its organization vs other pregnancy communities where it is an absolute free for all. I don't think that makes it a "museum" but rather keeps important threads at the forefront.
This. If everyone posted their own threads re their own questions this would quickly become a q/a forum which many pregnancy communities are, but TB is not.

  • @gspmom21 yes to this so much. I love that show but at the end of last week I was just like nooo. I already warned my husband that I’ll likely be a mess after this episode.
  • @gspmom21 Yeah I am definitely not watching This Is Us again until I get to second tri...

  • @pumpkinpancake my BIL and SIL are coming to the house sometime tonight (and staying for the week) and I don't want them to catch me looking like an idiot and crying my eyes out.

UGH. whyyyyyy would they do this to us. The producers already know this show is a emotional rollercoaster.

My eyes watered at the preview  :'(
  • This is Us is like a car accident. I know I'm going to regret watching. I know it's totally going to mess with my anxiety... I know I'm probably going to watch it anyway....
  • This is Us definitely will hit home, especially because her timeline is just like mine with my last M/C.  But I'm real sad about Kevin's downward spiral, too :(

  • @pumpkinpancake thank you! That’s what I’m leaning towards...but unfortunately my mom is a life long nurse and I am pretty sure she’s going to have lots of questions if I go with the antibiotic excuse hahaha
  • bumping the ask from @pregnant_and_paleo and @WorkinWeezel - I'm wondering too! Preparing for Thanksgiving hosted at my parent's house with...22 people, only one (DH) of whom who knows the big secret. I'm hoping that there will be too many people to notice I'm not actually drinking anything. Maybe I just fill my glass and dump some down the drain once in a while? Also tempted to see if apple juice can stand in for white wine. Does that work??

  • What a day. Took day off to spend with my parents. Got haircut, car registration, and so much shopping! Turns out i had to do the registration for our other car too. Back to DMV tomorrow! My next ultrasound is tomorrow afternoon and hoping all goes well. I had to spill the beans early with my parents because I never drink this much water lol
  • @IMC holy buckets that is a lot of people!  I think it probably depends on the apple juice some are darker than others but definitely worth a shot. otherwise Switch out glasses with DH so he can drink from it if you do wine.

@wildtot hope your ultrasound goes really well tomorrow!! Sounds like a very productive day though!

  • I’ve never watched This Is Us.....

So sorry for all the yuck that’s going around! DS has croup over a week ago. It hit so fast but was over fast!

I keep forgetting to take my prenatal vitamins. I suck at it! Plus they give me indigestion. Or if i don’t eat right after I take fish oil, i spend the night burping fish oil. It’s the worst!

Also my Dr gave me a medication for the nausea but I’m nervous to take it. It’s called diclegis. Anybody try it yet??
  • @dapple88 Dicelegis is a very medication persribed for MS. I personally havent heard of it being prescribed for just Nausea but mainly for vomitting. from what I know it is quite effective and safe.  does your prenatal have DHA? id try getting one that does to avoid the fish oil if it is giving you trouble. I use the gummy ones  simply because they seem to be easier on my stomach. I keep them right on my bathroom counter so when I go to brush my teeth in the morning I take it right away.

@christycalifornia damn that sucks baby girl caught it. I hope she does ok today. Good news is kids bounce back from those tummy bugs way faster than we do! Hopefully she’ll be feeling better by tonight.
@4deep you called it! She was totally fine by this afternoon, and has kept everything down since then. I'm so grateful.

Ok! Catching up from the day!

@zande2016 We love when people randomly jump in! I'm so glad you did, and I hope you do so again, often!

@hillbillywife AWESOME that your kiddo did so well! I'm woefully behind at taking my kid to the dentist...must put that on the list for after Thanksgiving.

@djh513 That sounds MISERABLE. Poor kiddo! FX he gets better fast.

    @flockofmoosen3 I laughed at "It's the internet, not a museum." :D

@lindsayleigh1989 So happy for your good news! Also, for some reason search NEVER works for me. It always ends up searching all the boards no matter how many times I make it specific. My Bump is broken.

@gspmom21 and all the other loyal This Is Us fans (I'm catching up right now, I swear!) Feel free to type whatever you want in those spoiler boxes! They exist so you don't have to stick to vagueness!

On the drinking at Thanksgiving, just use an opaque cup and don't act conspicuous. Or carry around a beer. In my experience, unless you have a person who is on Baby Patrol (tm) most people are too self-involved or distracted to notice what anyone is drinking. If anyone gets drunk and silly and starts pouring you drinks, just laugh, cheers, toast, whatever, then go pour it down the drain.

Ok! All caught up now, back to binging Greys and knitting.
  • @lindsayleigh1989 I haven’t decided if I’ll take it. I had asked her what i could take when i fly next week. I get a little motion sick when i fly and it’s usually pretty manageable but with feeling hungover 24/7 I’m worried 5 hours on a plan will be too much. So that’s what she gave me. I’ll have to take it before bed the night before. My flight leaves at 7 am.

@dapple88 do you have sea bands? I got them ans the help a lot for travel and motion sickness nausea. I will be taking my unisom before I get in the car tomorrow fingers crossed it helps! there is no harm in trying anything that can help you feel better at all! Im sure whatever you decide will be okay!

  • @IMC I second the carrying around a beer. Other than that, people mentioned ginger ale as a stand in for sparkling wine, if that will be around. I thought of bringing mocktails and a bottle of vodka and only drinking the "mock" part, while everyone else mixed with booze.
  • Re the drinking thing. I'm going to what I think will be a smallish party at a friend's house tonight, and when she invited me she made a big deal out of telling me she's making her famous spiked cider. There's no way she's not going to bring me a cup of it when I get there and I definitely can't turn it down without making her suspicious. My plan is to accept it, carry it around the party, and have my husband sip on it every now. That's the only idea I've come up with. As for thanksgiving dinner, i definitely don't think anyone will notice too much if I don't drink. You can always just have a glass of wine at the dinner table but not drink it, I doubt anyone would notice or call you out on it.

No spoilers, but I ugly cried during this is us last night. It was not pretty.
  • @acunamatada we are in Simsbury! So nice to have another so close!

  • @WorkinWeezel I’m worried about that too. We are meeting up with friends that weekend when we are out of town and if they don’t see me with a drink they will know instantly. My plan is to attempt to order myself something at the bar and tell the bartender to make it look like an alcoholic drink. I’ll just have the one and say I’m letting DH drink and hopefully that will work.

  • @djh513 that’s sounds miserable! One of those on its own is torture but double for both?! Poor little thing! I hope it all clears up ASAP.

We are having a heat wave here. It's supposed to be 94 today and tomorrow. It's making me feel very unfestive.

  • @magzor I am happy to say my love for baths has continued this pregnancy and my new tub is the best thing ever!!
A bath... that’s what I need to do tonight. When we built our house a nice, big, freestanding bath tub in the master was on my short list of “musts” and it has not been utilized in awhile. It would feel sooo good.

@coffeetillcocktails nothing wrong with  participating both! I'm July 26 but have been induced at 41 +5 with both so I'll likely participate in August also. Who knows you could be early!
  • @gspmom21 no worries, you were fine! I just didn't want you to feel like you had to be vague when you could go all out.
