@JuniperPrincess I like the name Blake too! If you want to keep with the J theam though I like Jace the most out of the ones you listed. I have always liked the name Jax too.
@JuniperPrincess Maybe it's just me, but if everyone else is a J, and new baby isn't, I'd feel like he'd feel left out at some point, lol. Doesn't mean it's so, but that's how my head works, haha. (Although Blake is a cute name)!
I love Jace, it was one of my top names. Jett is cute and different! What about Julian? That's another I loved, but couldn't use because there's already one in the family.
We are also a "J" name family, but not on purpose. I want to get a name picked out early this go round because it took us 3 days after my 2nd daughter was born to name her because we were team green and an hour after she was born my DH was admitted to the same hospital for appendicitis......so we didn't even see each other the first 2 days to even discuss names. lol
Our current DD's are Julie Madison and Jessa Leigh and my name is Jenna. I really liked Luke for a boy so we may go with that if that's what we're having this time. But wondering if we're all J's if we need to stick to J's? I don't know that I like any boy J names......and another girl J might be overkill?? I don't want to end up like the Duggars.
Me: 32 DH: 38 || Married 9.2008 || DD born 12.2009 || DD born 10.2012 || DD #3 due 4.2018
Our girl name is Madison Frances. Boy would be Henry Francis. I was a little worried that if it was a boy people would call him Hank or Hank Frank. But we just found out via blood work it’s a girl! My nephew’s name is Holden and my brother is Peter so I like the name. I really wouldn’t worry about other kids teasing him. How often did you actually know your classmates middle names?
We really thought it was going to be a girl this time so we really only discussed girl names. Also, because we couldnt come up with any boy names. Now that we know its a boy, it was actually easier to come up with some names we really like and agree on. In the running are Cole, Rhett, Reece and Dillon.
Oh man, I just came across a spelling I've never seen before: Peighton. WHYYYY must people do this? Peyton/Payton is a perfectly fine name, don't wreck it!
@MrsMassimilla I LOVE Cole! That would totally be my #1 boy name if our last mame wasn't also 1 syllable and beginning with a hard C.
Now that we know we're having a boy, I can tell it's going to be a struggle agreeing on the name. DH is super traditional whereas I'm into the slightly more trendy names. I'm looking for something right in the middle. I love Jonas, Sawyer, Lucas, Cameron, and Wesley.

What about Leighton, though? I would lean towards that spelling instead of Layton.
@BarefootContessa I think Leighton is the correct spelling of the name though, as is Peyton (or even Payton). Layton and Peighton are made up spellings of those names AFAIK which I think is what @kmalls was getting at.
@jwhokie I don’t think you have to stay with all Js just because you started that way! DH’s Family is a Michael, Matthew, and Kevin but no one wonders why Kevin’s name isn’t an M name instead! I think Julie, Jessa, and Luke is a really cute combo!
Mama to Rowan Sebastian and baby boy coming in April!
@klburke88 do we have the same last name?! Lol. Mine is a one syllable with a hard K but can be spelled with a C, too. I found naming DD so incredibly difficult because of it! We also love the name Cole but can’t do it lol.
@xray12280 I don't think most classmates know a lot of middle names unless they are close friends. I think a good amount of my classmates didn't know my middle name until we graduated and it was in the program and announced at graduation.
@kmalls that spelling had me shaking my head. Why must people do silly things like that I really don't feel like it's all that unique to do weird spellings. Even if your kid is in a class with 4 others with the same name the changing of the spelling won't change them turning their head when that name is called.
@jwhokie I think that any time people name ALL their children with the same first letter I instantly think of the Duggers.
Well, Sailor is pretty much out of the question now. DH said maybe for a middle name, but its not professional for an adult. I knew this might come up, so I didn't get my heart set on it.
We talked about names for a while this weekend and just happened to both like the name Daisy. DH things just because we both liked that one, then that's it, its settled. HA HA! While I like it, I still want to keep my options open. Other names I'm considering are Paisley, Ariel, Natalie, Makayla, Reese and Natasha/Tasha.
@scuba_chic That's exactly what has happened with my husband and I. We agreed that we both liked the name Charleston and we haven't discussed any names since then. I think he made his mind up lol Sorry to hear your H vetoed Sailor. TBH I don't think it's any less professional then Daisy. They both come off as "cutesie" names to me. Daisy actually makes me think of a little girl more then Sailor does. I think Daisy is a nice name, I just don't really see where your H is coming from liking one over the other for professional reasons. If you both agree on Daisy though then that's a win!
@JJMNO1616 Thanks, who knows. We have plenty of time, so I'm not pushing the subject right now. If I come across a name I like, I'll run it by him. Hope you and I both get names we're happy with
Thoughts on Beatrice? DH suggested it last night randomly and started referring to the baby as Baby Bea (pronounced "bee" of course) and I legit CRIED when he said that ('sup hormones). I don't know if I'm 100% sold on the full name but the nickname absolutely slayed me for some reason!
@frenchiekinplusone Beatrix is at the top of our girl list, with Bea as the nn, so obviously I love it! I confess to having thought of the baby as baby Bea, and I k ow MH has too, even though we're team green

@hedgepig same - we are team green as well so it could be "baby anything" but for some reason Baby Bea got me right in the feels. I also can't decide whether I like Beatrice or Beatrix better! DH like the -ce.
@kmalls you’ll love this—I have a student in my public speaking class named Jewelia. Pronounced just like “Julia” but with that lovely unique spelling
@frenchiekinplusone Beatrice gets my vote, too! I love the nick name Bea, but I’ve also heard Trix or Trixie as nicknames for Beatrice. I think it’s a great choice for a girl!
Ugh, we are back to square one on names. I really like Victoria, but I just hate all of the nicknames for it. Most of the names I really like either are too close to "family names" (we agreed not to go there), have extremely infantile and yucky sounding nicknames, or are obscenely popular right now (we don't need her to be the 50th Sophia in her class).
@ngolimento - a name from our list was Josephine. I think you wanted a longer classic name (haha - pregnancy brain so I’m not positive). NN could be Jo or Josie. Feels like we took a step backwards on names too.
@ngolimento ugh I'm sorry you're back to square one. I get the aversion to a popular name. Although we ultimately found a name we both love, the first name we both gravitated towards was Olivia. I just couldn't do that to her, though -- she'd be one of dozens in her school, I'm sure.
We're gamers so if Spud is a girl she will be Zelda Lyra L...r
We're having a hard time with boy names. All our kids currently have vowels at the beginning of their names, so thinking maybe we should continue the trend. Archer is on our list but i hate the nn Archie Owen Everett Hunter
@growingournest I LOVE Oliver, I may also be biased. I picked the name (for the meaning) before I even knew or heard it was rising in popularity a few years back. We have yet to meet another Oliver, besides one that was in his 60/70s. Also this current one would be Rowan in a heart beat. However, DH vetoed it. So you get my vote with both names.
Eta: @8bithearts I like Archer and Everett. Both were contenders with our first. I know/met a lot of Owens and Hunters so for me personally they are a no go. Doesn't make them bad names if you like them though! Name popularity is different across the country so perhaps they are less common where you are in which I would say go for it.

After reading through every post cause I'm all about name ideas ..I didn't see my neighbor's kid name: Parker. Seems like you gals might like that one.
DH and I have a big list going. Having a girl and Evelyn, Talia and Jeanette seem to be sticking.

Dumbgurl04 - Yep.....the all J theme has been ruined by them. Guess this third one will definitely not be a J. I don't want that label. lol
