B does not want to latch today. I have no idea why but it has only worked 1x out of 3. Not sure if he's just used to them being super full and doesn't want it if he has to work a bit now or what
@Ladybug2821 That's so interesting to me! Our pedi didn't mention anything about a specific number of solid meals at our 6 month check-up, just that we start incorporating!
@kvruns it happens to us once a while and i can not figure out why. on Friday she did not want my right breast, even before putting it into her mouth. i thought she was refusing to eat, then i realized she is okay with the left. few weeks ago , it was my left that she did not like. so weird

Our pedi had us start solids at 4 months so maybe that is why.
I started taking a calcium/magnesium supplement. I read awhile awhile ago that if you have your period back it prevents the dip in supply. I think it actually might be helping. I don't know if It can make a difference for the ladies without there period back though.
Today, I am donating some of my frozen stash to someone from FB. You all know that my LO does not like the bottle, she gets better some days but she never drinks more than 10-11 ounces. So I always have extra and freeze , but our freezer is full now we cannot freeze anything else. So yesterday I saw this lady who needs donor milk for her daughter and contacted her. she is going to pick up the milk (~100oz) today. This made me super upset, i keep crying today. It does not have any logical explanation and i am happy a little baby will drink it. But it just affected me too much, why did not my daughter drink it i have worked for it so hard.

You are an amazing woman, @ZoeFer! Of course letting go of the milk is hard when it is a product of your bond with LO - being sad about it is totally understandable. Think of the relief that other mama must be feeling right now to have a stash when, for whatever reason, she can't provide it herself. Not only have you been providing food for your daughter, you are also helping to nourish and grow another baby. I always thought I'd donate my milk if I could, but I couldn't even make enough for my daughter, let alone help someone else's. I am in awe of your body and your generosity.
What kind of bottle(s) have you tried? I'm sure it's been a number of types, but I hear some LOs are super picky about it. I had a friend who really struggled finding one her son would take and he wound up really taking to the Boob bottle.
@ZoeFer that's understandable to feel that way! I'm sorry you're upset. I hope you can feel a little better knowing how much you helped that other mom! That's so great of you.
@zoefer that is awesome! FWIW, I also donated about 120oz to a local mom and I found myself feeling kind of upset right before. My LO takes a bottle but I was out of freezer space. Like you said I worked hard for it so it felt weird but then I knew it ultimately would help me rotate my stock and help out another baby.
Am I the only one that doesn't leak?! I just get so rock hard and lumpy and painful. Never once has a drop come out unless i expressed.
I mostly get uncomfortable too but I have leaked before. The first time H and I went on a date alone I leaked really bad. It was weird because I've missed 1 feeding before when we bottle fed her in public and never had an issue. I wasn't prepared so my bra was soaked.

The last time I leaked was when I was doing sleep training a week ago and I was full and B was crying but I wouldn't feed him. Otherwise it just gets hard too, though fortunately not really painful
thank you for your messages, i am feeling better today. and she got three bottles yesterday, i cant remember the last time she had three bottles in a day. maybe she sensed that mommy is giving away her milk I will check the boob bottle @lajoliedreamer , we have not tried yet. I am not leaking much anymore, only if she sleeps over the night then i start to leak towards morning. and it does not happen very often.
Does anyone else feel like their pump is beginning to crap out? I have a medela freestyle and I just replaced the tubes and the connector thingy and only one side is getting milk. The other side is hard but nothing is coming out (the nipple isn't even inflated into the flange like it normally is). Urgggghhhhh.

I've been wondering about this also. Pumping definitely doesn't empty my boobs. Nights where S sleeps 11/12 hours straight, I end up going to work with one that is super full and hard and the pump won't empty it. I don't get full relief until I get home and nurse.

Change the membranes. That makes a big difference.
Yes i will second the membrane, sometimes little hole happens in the membrane and you cannot have a suction. I am using medela style in advance and it works great.
I changed the membranes also and no difference. Does anyone find that if you change your pump schedule you get less? I had to accommodate pumping 30 mins later for a meeting, and I'm hardly pumping anything right now. I didn't think 30 mins would make such a huge difference. Or maybe it didn't and there is another reason behind it.

Yes. My boobs have become creatures of habit. I yield different quantities if I pump at "off" times.
This morning my little girl looked at me and deliberately said 'Me Me' which means boob in our language !! she had done it before but didnot believe it was on purpose. and she rolled to me and latch to nurse ! she said boob before mom !!! i think it is the first real word she said on purpose
I took off the crappy sides membrane and replaced with the older one and it works fine now. Amazon just sent me a defective membrane. Of course, while switching, I spilled like 2 oz of milk from the working side. I could have cried.

@RhodaMorgenstern oghh any problem with the pump is super scary for me bec we are completely relying on it. i am glad you have fixed the problem though. and spilled breast milk is the worst, i had to throw few bottles bec L didnot drink it and it expired etc and it was hard and i cant imagine spilling fresh milk that you had just expressed. so sorry!
I don't know if it's from adding a quick pumping session at night for a few days last week or taking the cal/mag supplement, but my left side was super full this morning. I haven't done a night pump in about 5 days but I'm wondering if it helped to increase my supply. I was able to pump 12 oz during my first pump today. I've never done that before. I had been averaging only 6 oz which was a decrease from my normal 8 oz.
DD has barely been nursing the past few days and it's freaking me out because it is so hot here (above 103 all week, 108 today) and I'm worried about her getting dehydrated. She has also started biting me A LOT! I actually developed a milk blister on my nipple which led to a clogged duct this weekend, and I suspect it was from her biting me so much. Luckily I was able to get it unclogged in a little over 24 hours with lots of heat/massaging/pumping. She has always been distracted and fussy when nursing during the day, but it's currently almost noon and she hasn't nursed since 4 a.m. But she is all about solids. I was eating a banana a little while ago and she practically attacked me to get some of it, so I fed her some and she could not get enough. Not really wanting to give her more solids until she nurses, but I'm not sure what to do. BFing this baby is so stressful.
What am I doing wrong pumping?! I have a double electric but I can only ever do one at a time since in order to get more then a few drops I have to constantly massage / squeeze my boob.. it all driving me insane. Not to mention it takes FOREVER!
@kristah2 do you have a hands free bra? If not get one because it will allow you to massage both at the same time. Also try to zone out, I find if I stare at my phone while pumping I get a let down faster than if I'm looking for it to happen. Play with the intensity too. Sometimes I'll start off light and increase the intensity as it goes to encourage more milk flow. You can also hit the let down button more than once so the pump goes faster if the longer slower feature isn't doing it for you.

I second using the letdown as much as you need. It really makes a difference for me. I find the electric pump frustrating and often use the manual pump as a result but when I do use the electric I stay on for quite a while and put pressure on the underside of my boobs when it's yielding very little, like a shelf.
Sometimes I have to visualize what it feels and looks like when I get let down. It took me awhile to notice that I could feel it when nursing, and then it helped me to imagine the feeling when pumping. Sometimes letdown takes a long time, like if I'm stressed or something. When it's taking awhile I'll stop the pump and massage my boobs and then start again. Visualizing has helped me a lot, even though sometimes I feel weird doing it.
Stupid question.. what exactly is the letdown button? I have a pulse button then low medium strong. Its so weird I find If I take my boob out and put it back in I'll get more so I do that a bunch once massaging stops working. Youd never know I've been doing this for 8 months. I hate pumping.
@rspalding001 yes it like really short time between it sucking (does that make sense?).
What is the method here? Like when it starts to flow switch to that pulse? Then get it back to a higher suction then when it gets good back to pulse again?
