  • @Prudence9 congrats!  hope you're relaxing now and not stressing, this means FET this cycle right?  You sure it won't happen in May, how long does the process take.  FET is the one area i'm really not knowledgeable even after all the reading I've done.  I think until you go through it you dont really know as much.

@LoveDontCostAThing hows the itching going?  And how is hubby doing?  He must be pretty excited!

  • @LoveDontCostAThing how's the itch?

They let me take the BCP so we don't have to wait another full month. Next Wed they want me to go back and check the hcg, if that is down, then we can start testing what was the cause of the m/c.

@hopeful_mom there are two types of FET, medicated and non medicated. I will be doing a medicated transfer... which goes something like this: start BCP... then after two weeks (or longer, depending how the other tests go) stop BCP...

I think 4-5 days before I am suppose to stop BCP, I start daily lupron injection.

5 days after I stop the BCP, I have to go for u/s and then, if I get the thumbs up, then start with estrogen patches... (while continuing with the lupron...).

2 weeks and 5 days later, is the day of the FET... (and 5 days before that I am suppose to start the PIO injections...)

So assuming I end up taking BCP for only two weeks, my earliest FET date would be June 5th... but I might need to take BCP for a little longer while we figure out what was the cause... so I'm def not going to have FET in May... but FX for a successful June transfer!

  • Prudence9 thanks for the info, thats seems like a lot to do, why the fresh transfer is awesome!  PIO shots i'm afraid of those, I guess i'm lucky I never had to take them but from what i read from everyone they sound awful!
I think my RE is going to get annoyed with me soon (Funny I act like shes not annoyed already ;) as I keep emailing her to make sure we've tested for everything as nothing came back not normal showing their might be an issue. To think its because i'm old and my uterus just let go of it is very scary to me!

  • @Prudence9 -June will be here before you know it!  I feel like my FETs were simpler.  Literally, all I did was take estradiol, go in for a couple of lining checks, start progesterone, and have the transfer.  After all transfers I did one lupron injection a couple of days post transfer to help implantation.

@hopeful_mom -so, when will your earliest transfer date be?  I guess it will be a FET since they have to freeze to test?  DH is excited!  He is always positive and hates that I can be negative/ worry.  He thinks it sucks the fun out of it.  I think I am getting a little better though.  With each ultrasound I ease up a little.  I don't have as much stuff to google LOL.  I know a MC can always occur, but the percentage significantly lowers after hearing a heartbeat.  I will worry, of course, but I am thankful for each week that I am pregnant, and I am trying to be positive.  It will be awesome when I can start to feel movements and kicking to help reassure me!

AFM, the itching is still there.  I feel like the rash is a little better.  I have scratches and bruises from all of the itching.  It's worse at night.  I suppose it comes and goes.  Well, probably because the benadryl.  I take one 25mg benadryl every 6 hours around the clock...even in the middle of the night.  It does help, but once it starts wearing off I itch more.

wow, can't believe you're still suffering from that itch! That sounds terrible!  :(

@Hopeful_mom PIO is not as bad as it seems. I was terrified before and especially since I had to give these shots to myself. But it's really not as bad. Don't get me wrong, it is not fun haha.

  • Hi,
I hated PIO AND I had an allergic reaction, so I got to stop them (wahoo...that was during another cycle.)  So, my rash has finally gotten better, so I think it was the crinone I was allergic to, which makes sense since I was allergic to the PIO.  I am still a little itchy, but it's clearing up, and I am no longer taking the benadryl.
I went to the OB for the first time yesterday, but they didn't do much.  I met the dr. and he checked my uterus, saying it was good.  They can't do an ultrasound while I am still getting them at the fertility dr. and their doppler doesn't hear heartbeats until 11-12 weeks.  I feel so needy because I had an ultrasound last week, but I am used to having them now, and of course have anxiety!  I will have one next Wednesday, which seems so long.  I had blood taken today, which I find to be anxiety-producing, as my HCG is slowly dropping (last week and this week.)  They say it's normal for that to happen at this time, so then why check it and freak us out?  Even the nurse said she doesn't know why they check it.  The estradiol went up a little, but my progesterone is lower (51.50, which is the lowest it's been!)  Again, they said it's normal because they like it at least 30 or 40.  So, what am I still a googling mess???

And yeah waiting for next Wed does seem like a long time. Especially after you get used to weekly u/s. Haha.

  • @LoveDontCostAThing  so glad to hear there might be an end in site and a reason for the rash.  My poor friend had your issue throughout her whole pregnancy so i'm really glad they found the problem.  And whats even better is now is the time your RE would stop the progesterone anyway.
I wish I couldve had sonos all the time!! At my RE they usually would schedule you from 10/14 days so I would always try and do 10 days so i wouldnt have to wait the full 2 weeks.  I still need to find a new OB on top of all of this as as my OB no longer does deliveries.  I just hate that everything has to be an issue!

Prudence9 when are you suppose to go back for BW again?

AFM:  I just spotted so assume AF will be here in the AM, will email RE to see what my next step is.  I have a feeling I'll still need to do another cycle first...hopefully my body will be ready and i won't have to take off a cycle.   Getting nervous thinking about my PGS results...

  • @LoveDontCostAThing that is great they figured this out and you can have some relief!  I dont know what PIO really is, it is not in the glossary - what is it exactly?
@Prudence9 i keep laughing when I see something like you saying you are so excited you get to start BCP, and I felt the same!  Like AF, these tings we dreaded all the time are now very exciting!

@hopefulmom  I am with you on the waiting frustration.  I am getting nervous that this takes so much time, all the little waiting periods, argh.

AFM I am just stopping BCP, and go in for an U/S on Monday I guess that's a baseline, and start Clomid.  It is a short protocol cycle; my ER is scheduled for the 19th, and I have come down with a cold and I am nervous that is going to affect the outcome.  I dont really have infertility issues per se, I am just old(er), so the goal is really to just end up with one healthy embryo, and I am praying for 2.    I know it sounds crazy, but I was so excited when all my medication arrived today, I was just happy as a clam.

@littledarlins when we're all in this process you get excited and wish for AF so you can start the next round.  AF is here and I"m laughing how so far it really has been on time through this process so when TTC naturally I was DTD in my fertile window yet no success...you really just wonder is it really just my eggs WTH!!!

AFM: My RE believes since I responded well last cycle she still thinks I should go with a regular IVF cycle or prep for an FET.  I'm leaning towards another cycle, I wouldn't want to prep for an FET and then take a chance I have nothing to transfer.  This whole process is such a struggle.  I really wanted to have a few normies to work with before moving on to the next process.

  • @littledarlins -PIO is progesterone in oil.  It's in shot form, and honestly the worst shot I have ever done!  They've never said I have a progesterone issue, but make us take it in some form.  That form is by far the worse.  I was so glad I was allergic.  I had welts from it!

@hopefulmom -my ultrasounds are every two weeks too!  But the blood is every week.  So this week I get to obsess over the blood and wait for ultrasound.  This will probably be my last ultrasound at the fertility dr.  Having less monitoring at the OB is really gonna be scary!

Then to make sure we can have enough time to figure it out, I will be on BCP an extra week.

On May 15th, I start daily Lupron injections. Then stop BCP on May 20th. Baseline on the 25th. And if all good then start with patches that day. With tantentive transfer date during the week of June 12th!

getting the new calendar got me so excited. Transfer date is over a month from now. But at least there's a date. (Assuming we can figure out what went wrong by the time I need to start injecting Lupron)

@prudence9 I do the calculations all the time!!!  At this point my due dates will be in every season ugh!! Really hope you will get the answers you're looking for BUT can still be at some peace if you don't!!  Lets hope they find something and can fix it!!
@LoveDontCostAThing obssess is all of our middles names and I dont see that changing anytime soon!

AFM: My phone is lost or stolen and has caused me another sleepless night and further crying WTH!!!  Its all this extra stress I didn't need!
Ready for this I went in for BW and got the go ahead for stemming AND got my PGS results back too.  I can finally say I got a normie back yay!!  2 of the 6 made it.  I cried for relief I have a normie but for sadness too that I know its not enough and I have to continue to try and bank embryos.  Its such a hard decision but I knew deep down I was going to need to cycle so lets hope I can squeeze a few good ones out this time.  We know I"m all about the grading and its really true what they say, looks can be deceiving!  I had 3/5AAs and I truly felt I would get at least 3 normies back.   1/5AA made it and the other was a 5BA.  That lil normie beat out the 2/5AA and the 5AB, what a trooper.  However the 5AA is considered "the best" and thats the one they would transfer first.  The thawing process scares the hell out of me why I need to hopefully get a few more in before transfer too.  I should feel a sigh of relief that I will hopefully get to a transfer but I"m still a ball of nerves UGH!!!!  :s  I truly have been a mess these last 2 days with such swollen eyes, poor OH I know is scared what another cycle of hormones will do to me!

@LoveDontCostAThing how are you? Rush getting better, I hope!

@Hopeful_mom 2 is great!!! Congrats!!! So happy for you!!!

When some of not the best looking embryos make it, that's when I really appreciate PGS. You could have tried for one of the bad 5AA and wasted a cycle! For me too, one of the normal ones was the worst looking one! (5BB)

Is the plan one more IVF cycle and then FET with the 5AA embryo?

AFM... haven't heard back regarding the blood work this morning. But tomorrow I'm going to call freedom and order the meds. I know FET cycle will happen. So why not order all the meds already!

  • @LoveDontCostAThing I would love to do a fresh transfer but seeing how many keep coming back abnormal its not wise.  Out of 3/5AA one of them was normal and I feel since those were graded "best" they would be the first ones chosen and you would have to pray only the healthy one sticks.  Maybe that what happened with my twins.  Both looked on point though so its so hard to say.  I did ask about doing the cycle and then doing a fresh transfer with one of the frozen normal embryos BUT she said the success rate is better not doing it that way...so why chance it.  not like I have many to spare.  Am i thrilled to finally have a normal embryo and g-d willing an FET is in my future yes!!  I just would like a lil more security.  If I was in my 30's I probably wouldnt feel this way BUT who knows.  I've basically had about 10 eggs make it and 3 are normal, those are scary odds.  Thrilled I have them, but tough when I"m heading into cycle 6.  I know this is my journey ;) but it would be nice to have a few more under my belt...we see it can happen and does for others.
Prudence9 so you went in and they took over 30vials from you?  Those results usually take a week to come back, some of those werent the next day for me.  The blood clotting one had to be send out.  Would I like to say yes this will hopefully be the last cycle sure BUT we know there are no grantees.  Its getting costly BUT really hoping i can just get a few more.  My next project might make it tough on me too BUT not even stressing over that...my phone caused me enough aggravation for a life time today!  Insane how much I go to for it for the simplest things.  Much easier to txt a short question then talk to someone i realize too ;)

  • So bloodwork results takes about 5 business days. So I should probably get the results by Thurs. and then they scheduled me to talk to the dr on the following wed. While I was suppose to start Lupron injections 2 days before. So everything now might get pushed by few days.

On top of that, My stupid insurance won't let me order Lupron. They don't understand why I need it again. So they want clarifications from my dr. So stupid. Like I would order Lupron injections for fun.

  • Prudence9 hopefully your results will come in on time!!  Look insurance sucks period!  they make no sense!  They mentioned if they order too much of something the insurance company may ask to see my records, OK!  Cause i'm selling it on the side.  I like taking 4 powders NO!  I wish I had enough to share for others that have to pay OOP too!  Its sad how many hoops you have to go through.
The hospital for my MC sent one bill to collections because they didnt put it thrugh my insurance correctly, nice right!

  • @hopeful_mom yeah the insurances are so ridiculous. I was talking to the nurse in my clinic about calling my insurance and explaining to them why I need another Lupron prescription... and she was telling me about more crazy stuff insurance did to other patients.

Actually after my FET I was suppose to be on estrogen patches. And replace them every 3 days. One box has 8 patches and I was suppose to put on 2 every 3 days. So if you do the math you'd see that each box is for less than 2 weeks. My insurance allowed one box a month....

Will you try to get them to resubmit for the d&c?

  • Prudence9 I did have the hospital resubmit but that was an issue until I found someone that understood what needed to happen.  I will say I had a really nice person from my insurance company that actually called the hospital to make sure my file was updated...just annoying that you must stay on top of all the extras!  Now i get a bill for every blood test..you know how often we go so I feel like i'm getting one every other day!  I dont know how insurance can say what u need and how much they're not dr.  There was only one medication they didn't cover for me and it was the microdose lupron flare ($200) good thing that protocol didn't work so i didn't have to keep paying OOP for it!  I guess they have issue with lupron, so odd.

baseline was today even though its day 3 and everything is so small the tech didnt measure anything and maybe theres 3 growing right now SO hoping in the next 2 days we get some action over here...I'm gonna try not to stress cause it wont help.  Last night I got so involved with things i forgot to take my meds at the same time and was a 1/2hr late...amazing how ur waiting and waiting and then forget when its time!  I feel like last time by this day i already had stuff showing and that could be from the estrogen UGH!!  I'm mad at myself for not even thinking about it, I was all wrapped up with the PGS results.

  • Prudence9 I have my next US on tuesday...I'm a lil nervous as usually i have some follies from the beginning i'm not expecting a whole bunch to pop up in just 2 days, so we shall see, fx still crossed though ;)
The microdose lupron is a special mix the pharmacy makes for the protocol apparently.  Its a lower dosage of the regular lupron, its a special potion that my body did not like!

  • @hopeful_mom I didn't realize Lupron is used also for IVF. In my IVF I was told to get the Lupron trigger since they thought I might have OHSS. I ended up not needing it. For FET cycle the 2 week kit prevents you from ovulating.

    FX for the ultrasound tomorrow!

  • @Prudence9 -ugh, wish we were neighbors!  I don't know where you live lol, but I live in NJ.  I have a lupron kit in my fridge that I only used one dose of that I would give you!  I don't know why they prescribed me the whole kit because I only had to do one shot a couple days after transfer to help with implantation.  Either of you ladies do that?

@hopefulmom -hoping for good news at your ultrasound tomorrow!  I can't believe how much you must have paid out of pocket.  Does your insurance cover any procedures or meds?  I donated some of my meds to my clinic.  I should have gotten refills and donated more.  It's so terrible that only some insurances cover IVF.  I think I mentioned before that I want to leave my job because I have been on a pay freeze for 5 years, but since my insurance covers IVF I am sticking it out.

AFM, I have an ultrasound on Wednesday, so naturally I am getting a bit nervous.  I want to start feeling this little baby move so I know that things are okay in between ultrasounds!!!
