I know this has been discussed, but as we're getting closer, I wanted to pose it again. When do you get your last wax/downstairs grooming? I know some don't, but those who are planning to primp, when??
I think I messed up timing. It was my intent to get a wax, but then I shaved 2 weeks ago for my first check. Although, at the rate things are growing I can probably go in. Hmm...I better make an appt.
Can I just be a little jealous that 2 weeks after a shave @nda_roxybabe still isn't sure she has enough to wax? After about a week after my last shave I my vagina starts singing "Welcome to The Jungle".
@jayandaplus, yes! Those are great tactics that I've used with both kiddos. My fear is a child who won the respond to those...it definitely happens and it scares me! I can't imagine listening to a baby cry for 3+ hours at a time...
this was my DS... it was terrible... every evening he would just cryyyyyyyy. Nothing helped... it was a long couple months until he grew out of it. I think it was reflux and terrible gas. One of my fears for this new baby. Hopefully that doesn't happen to yours!!
Re: the birth stories...I put a little synopsis in the induction thread but will extrapolate on that and try to write up something more official today! Only one week after the birth, lol...I just hate mobile bumping so much. I try to catch all of the bad autocorrects and still miss at least one per post. Maybe I'll charge my computer and do it there...
@jayandaplus with my last pregnancy I had a Groupon for a full leg/Brazilian wax and I scheduled it for two days before my due date. I figured it would be about perfect since as a FTM I didn't actually expect to go into labor that week. So the day of my appt I had been up all night with random contractions and unsure if I had fluid leaking. I had DH drive me to my appt just in case we needed to go to the hospital from there. It turned out my contractions were increasing and becoming so intense he had to pull the car up to the door when I was done cuz I was already having trouble walking through the contractions. Needless to say I was pretty uncomfortable during the actual wax appt. Anyway DD was born 8hrs later and no one cared esp me that grooming had happened so I figure this time I'll just try my best to keep up the occasional self grooming attempts every now and again.

I've BTDT and you somehow survive, it is soul crushing though! 7-11pm every night for maybe 3-4 months?
A second colicy baby is damn near my biggest fear. I do think confidence has a part to play though, you mentioned E was off to a chill start and I think if you get your feet under you and get some routine and skills in place you will be in a lot better shape even if you get hit late with colic. Being a very overwhelmed and inexperienced FTM probably added a lot of fuel to the fire.
@vrj0522 & @hp_momma Agreed! I need details! Although I am sure these mommas with fresh babies don't have loads of time on their hands to fill us in. Tear.
@nda_roxybabe BUT when are you making the appointment? @WombThereItIs I'm normally a very fast hair-grower, but with this pregnancy it doesn't seem so voracious to grow. Though, I can't see down there right now and I'm pretty sure it's 110% jungle.
@Kipperoo and @lrwardrop As a FTM, this is my biggest fear. For all those mamas who said they hate the newborn stage, I'm worried I will if I have a colicky baby. I so badly want to love every minute of it, and take my baby everywhere with me, but I worry colic can crush dreams. I'm telling myself it's all phases-- even if it's bad in the beginning I can get through those months. Right? :-/
ETA: @erinh2005 I know no one will care about the grooming in the end, but still, I care now. From reading your story (which I love), I read it as you had perfect timing.
Haven't been very active today because of work, but I can't believe we have all of these babies!! Hope you ladies are enjoying the newborn smell as I type this!!!
@Kipperoo - I'm living in fear of colicky baby #2 as well. I'm hopeful that since we figured out the cause of DS colic around 3.5 months, that we're taking the necessary precautions to avoid it this time.
Also, the idea of a wax while pregnant just petrifies me. I've only done it a couple of times, but the amount of pain put me off it. With everything so sensitive down there, how do you manage it pregnant?!
I know this has been discussed, but as we're getting closer, I wanted to pose it again. When do you get your last wax/downstairs grooming? I know some don't, but those who are planning to primp, when??
My wax schedule is set so that currently I have my last wax appointment on the 24th, due date on the 27th. I may try and move that up to the 18th if it turns out my last day at the office is sooner than expected. My waxer is near my office so I'm trying to base it off of that and my current 3-4 week between waxes schedule.
Can I just be a little jealous that 2 weeks after a shave @nda_roxybabe still isn't sure she has enough to wax? After about a week after my last shave I my vagina starts singing "Welcome to The Jungle".
@jayandaplus Oh! That's a good q. I'm 2 weeks from my due date so probably for this weekend/ early next week. Typicallllllly I am good for a bit after a wax.
@vrj0522 YES! I want all the birth stories too. And I am super disappointed in Aprils birth announcements, I lurk every month when it's their turn to read them and they have hardly any!
Me too! I love reading all the stories. A bunch of March babies arrived in April and/or their stories only recently posted, have you seen those?
@WombThereItIs, your story gives me hope! I do feel pretty confident with this one and we are already working towards a routine--I am a super routine/scheduled person, so it's mostly for my sanity, but I also know a 1 week old isn't bending to anyone's "routine", so it's mostly just early conditioning, lol...I've had friends with truly colicky babies and I know that you ultimately survive it...it just seems pretty miserable. Here's hoping that no one here ends up with a colicky baby!!
Random: So I just worked two 12 hour shifts in a row, per usual, and then today did a bit of cleaning and organizing, caught up on the bump, and now I don't know what to do with myself! DH is taking a nap, but I hate naps (I'd rather sleep in.) I've organized, I've picked up around the house, emptied/loaded dishwasher and washed dishes by hand, made a schedule for the month of May with all appointments and my cleaning schedule. Now what?

Wow I'm impressed with your productivity! My never ending list involves so much random stuff that has nothing to do with baby coming home... but the nesting instinct is insisting I complete. Silly things like paint my bedroom, deep clean my couch, reorganize my cupboards, etc.
@jayandaplus DD was a terrible newborn and didn't have colic. There were days, especially at the beginning, that I didn't exactly like her. Now she is totally my person. Each stage is different, different for each mom and baby! I think the easiest thing is to not have a million expectations and just be excited about what each day brings. I definitely brought DD to tons of events! You will get through each stage and it's ok to NOT love every minute!
I got the Unicorn Frapp! Here is my description of how it tastes:
So first sip it tasted like mango milk. Kinda gross, but not like repulsing. I then moved the straw to take a sip of the sour blue syrup and it is definitely sour at first. You know when something is sour and it kind of "burns" your tongue? It was like that. Then I mixed it all up and now it kind of taste like a sour patch kid slurpy, but with a creme base. I wouldn't ever get it again, but it's cool to say I tried it.
@bacorrea Thank you for that wonderful STM wisdom. I especially like the "it's ok to NOT love every minute!" @livin541 Yes, I think my nesting is starting to take over. I wanted to organize our junk drawers today. Isn't the point of a junk drawer to never clean it out, kinda?
@bacorrea I just tried it and that was my opinion too...interesting, but not anything I'd be up dreaming about. Maybe if it came out last pregnancy when I was on a sour candy bender...
Random: Any STM+ moms notice their toddlers being clingy close to the end? I swear DD is literally all over me all day. If I weren't mobile bumping I would add the Mean Girls "why are you so obsessed with me" gif

OMG YES. This child is currently on top of me. I keep trying to tell myself that things are changing for her and to be patient, but omg I am so touched out.
Also, @RainyDays86 I know you've been super busy with getting everything ready, but I am praying for you and for your surgery tomorrow! I hope it goes smoothly.
@OmegaRose3 YES!! DD has been super clingy and does not want MH to do anything for her. She has started begging me not to leave her at school which has never been a problem, not even on her first day of school. And she didn't want me to leave her at my mom's, and she's pretty obsessed with my mom.
She has also started giving me a hug, kiss, high five, and pinch before I leave and then will repeat the process with my belly for the baby.
@jayandaplus Are you about to go into labor on us??
I was wondering this, too! The lady who taught our labor classes described how she had a massive burst of energy/nesting the day before all three of her labors.
Regarding its okay to not love every minute.. I love this saying, some hours are so long but the days are short. Or something like that.
DD is such a daddys girl, as in she asks dor him all day every day when hes not home. She has been sweeter to me lately. She has started coming to me just for a hug plus a little rub on the belly then scamper off again. And when its just me and her, she's totally okay cuddling with me on the couch. Im trying to soak up every second of it while I can!
WTF grocery store bagger who put my bag of potatoes in with my English muffins, and then two Debbie cake boxes in a huge tote all by themselves. Also, WTF heartburn attack on the way home that won't subside? It's really hard to try to burp and poop at the same time.
It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
I love DD to death and totally appreciate the affection, but...like @bacorrea said, I'm a bit touched out. The kisses between every bite of food, the constant need to lay and roll all over me while I'm already uncomfortable...it wears me out.
I would love it if my ds was a little more attatched to me, he's such a daddy's boy. He pushes me off the couch and tells me to get up, then he calls out for his dad. This morning I tried to feed him a yogurt and he threw himself on the ground and cried because he wanted my husband to feed him instead. Little stinker...
Speaking of waxing/shaving; Possibly need third time+ mums here, anyone shaved with one and went "el natural" with another? Was after-care any better/worse either way? i was induced with DS so obviously tidied things up the day I was admitted, but 3 days for induction meant that by the time I was home and things were starting to heal up etc, I really needed to shave again so the itching from that plus the itching/soreness of stitches wasn't great. I can't decide if it would be better to just simply not touch it this time.
also +1 to clingy toddlers, the past couple weeks DS hasn't wanted me to leave him at preschool, and he's been all over me while I'm home, he won't let H put him to bed etc. he seems to have been better with preschool this week, but he also had a couple days off with the easter long weekend so was probably itching to see his friends. He has also had a cold which may be contributing to it. I am just hoping it means thing are close! 37w today, full term, officially issuing an eviction notice!

Random: I recently rediscovered Postagram. It's a app that you can send a post card with a picture. The plain one is $.99 (including postage!) and it's so easy and fast. Just sent grandmas and great grandmas Easter thank yous with a pic of DS. The little square pic can be popped out to keep and has whatever message you typed on the back. Just wanted to share in case someone might find it useful. They are great for a quick personalized thank you without needing a pen or a stamp or to get out of bed.
@OmegaRose3 I wouldn't call DS clingy, but he did very recently go from having never requested to be picked up and rarely giving hugs or wanting to sit on laps to wanting to be picked up, giving hugs and kisses out of the blue, and something I would describe as a face hug. Basically smooshing his face on mine. I am soaking it in because he has never been cuddly so this is as close as I'm gonna get.
@PartiallyDomesticated with older daughter I was pretty neat down there, she came the day after an OB appointment. With younger daughter and Thomas, they were both unexpectedly early and I was definitely more on the jungle side of things. With both girls I had stitches, and there really wasn't a difference in recovery between the two. And with Thomas no stitches, so infinitely better recovery!
@RainyDays86, thinking about you...hope tomorrow goes smoothly!!
@Louise_Belcher, I love Postagram! I use it to send postcards to the grandparents and also DS's cousins--the kids love getting mail from DS and it's so cheap and easy!
