@skzw thinking of you today! I hope you get to go home today. Even when we know we're doing the best for our babes, it certainly isn't easy! That's so frustrating, but at least they're being cautious...? We'll try to keep you entertained today!
@SKZW - That sucks! I'm glad they're being cautious, but it sounds like maybe too cautious? At most of my doc visits, they take BP first thing, after I've either just done the acrobatics required to pee into a cup or when I'm wrangling DS and trying to get him and his stroller into the room...so it's elevated. I'd be frustrated if they took it while having a stressful convo as well! Hopefully all is well and you're able to get out of the hospital soon!

@skzw, your situation totally stinks and it is completely out of your control. I hope you get to go home soon. When all is said and done, I'd lodge a complaint. You deserve an apology for the lack of communication at the very least.
And a lesson for all of us, get those bags packed if you haven't done so already. You never know when you'll get a call (or three) from the doctor's office.
@SKZW hoping you get some good news today and can go home. Talk about some bullshit breaking your back to be prepared and having something come along and take you off guard. Thinking of you and if you have to stay, maybe we can start a board strictly for entertaining you in the hospital! Links to stupid vids, articles, GIFS. Good luck today!
You're right about them being maybe too cautious. A nice nurse this morning confirmed that the doc I saw in triage had a very conservative style, whereas the doc I'll talk to soon might have a different plan of care to discuss.
My BP readings through the night were pretty good (though one resident said "well everyone's bp goes down at night" and I'm like "that doesn't help my cause, lady!") and the baby's looking great this morning after monitoring. I'm cautiously optimistic but have a feeling I'll be here all day.
I'm so sorry you went through all of that @SKZW! I hope you get to go home soon. I guess the only good way of looking g at it is "better safe than sorry", but still!! Thinking of you!
So sorry you had to jump through all those crazy hoops @skzw, but glad to hear the baby is doing well. Hopefully you can get some answers and go home this morning!
@WombThereItIs: Murphy's law states that during a time like this, of course, my own doc is on vacay this week! I knew she would be. See, so it was another doc in the practice who read the lab results yest and instructed me to triage. (I wonder, would my doc have made the same determination? Especially having a better handle on my history?) Then, today, a nurse said "your own doc will probably be consulted today," and I'm like, she's on vacay, and she's like oh. An interesting look crossed her face, as if she was thinking, that's not ideal. And I probably mirrored that look myself, ha.
Good news is my little fam is here together, which makes me happy. Still awaiting a chat with the doc (who I'm told is in the OR) to discuss the plan of care <commence thumb twiddling in 3, 2, 1...>
@SKZW what a crazy turn of events! I hope you get some good news today! Random question, do you know if the doctor is out of the country? When we go on vacation DH still gets calls regarding his patients. The only time he doesn't (which he still checks emails) is when we are out of the country. So maybe they will still consult your doctor???

Of course tit is vacation time! Still, getting yourself some face time or a phone call in with the covering doc from the practice may help? You're far more patient than I would be, well done.
@SKZW, wow...you have had quite the crazy few days!! That sounds so stressful and confusing. I really hope you can get some solid answers today and get out of there soon. It sounds like there are some serious communication errors happening over there and you have every right to be frustrated. Thinking happy thoughts for you...
@SKZW holy moly, I can't imagine. I mean the whole time I'm over here thinking.."what the heck did the original lab work say that prompted this whole situation" maybe you said and my pregnancy brain missed it. Either way kudos to you for staying positive and going with the flow. I have a feeling I would not have handled the situation quite as well as you have. FX they let you go home so you can get some rest and continue with your to-do list.
@SKZW man, I'm so sorry you had such a crappy night. Hopefully you'll get to go home at some point today?
I'm no doctor, but if the only concern is a slightly elevated BP, can't they just send you home and let you monitor it yourself? I have a friend that was in a similar situation and she convinced them to send her home and she just called in her readings every few hours.
@SKZW I'm sorry you're having to deal with this, but I'm glad your H and DS were able to come and keep you company. Hopefully they will release you soon!
@SKZW - I'm so sorry you a dealing with all of that. BP issues are so frustrating because so many things can cause your blood pressure to go up and how do they expect it to come down if they keep stressing you out! Hope you get to go home soon.
Just an update. Still at 4 and fluid is even higher now. But she changed after talking to perinatologist and will induce at 39. So one week from tomorrow. She said his head is perfectly applied and I'm at 4 and she expects me to go at any time. I would love to avoid induction so I'm trying everything. Even the things I would totally roll my eyes at others for doing
with DS when he came I swore it was a day at Disneyland and eating an entire pineapple. So I'm walking a ton and currently sitting here eating an entire pineapple. Which my body will just love with my terrible heartburn and hiatal hernia. Flame worthy things are happening here but I'm miserable with contractions and pressure. It's unreal. I never thought someone could be at 4cm (or even more) and not be in the hospital. SHows how much I know.
So i'm wrapping up a project i've been on for 2+ years today. Had the closeout meeting with the client and everything. I've had a great time at this project, it was very tough at times but we had a great team and the client's awesome. Handed in my badge with a heavy heart. Parting is such sweet sorrow. Bright side: i'm starting working from home as of tomorrow! Yay to more sleep!
@mamatowildones - You may know all of these tips already... My Dr suggested evening primrose oil (which can be ingested or *inserted*) and red raspberry leaf tea at the end of my first pregnancy. I've also heard tell of a recipe for spicy eggplant parm that has sent women into labor. GOOD LUCK!
@mamatowildones - I don't know if it was a coincidence but I felt like pineapple also helped me with DS. I was 0 dilated and 25% effaced at my 39 week appointment so I went home and the only thing that I did differently was eat a pineapple. Three days later he was born so here's to hoping that it works for you this time too!

- curb walking (walking with one foot on the curb and the other on the ground, it says supposed to rock the baby into a good position and increase pressure on the cervix)
- sex: a couple different options spending on how dedicated/desperate you are: regular old sex so you get "prostaglandins" aka semen near the cervix. Don't jump up and clean up right away, kind of let it marinate there. Even just an orgasm for you stimulates uterine contractions, so you don't even need him necessarily lol. Also there is increasing evidence about the efficacy of oral prostaglandins for labor induction, included in that discussion are blow jobs. Like I said depends how dedicated you are lol
- yoga ball: bouncing, rolling your hips in circles, and pelvic thrusts
- nipple stimulation: actually really well supported research wise and the only one of these that's actually supported as a labor induction technique
Just made the first registry purchase! Amazon made it feel like I was getting a tooth pulled. Also ordered the cloth diapers! I may have already looked outside for my packages....
I have what kind of feels like a pulled muscle in my lower left abs. It doesn't come and go and isn't really cramps. Baby is moving around and there's no bleeding. Would you call about it or wait to bring it up at Thursday's OB appointment?

@KMD1106, I would have said wait, but I was just talking to my mom and she was telling me that when she went into early labor with me, it felt like a muscle pain in her abdomen and didn't come and go like you'd expect contractions to. Still, I'd maybe wait unless it got worse. He/she could just be kicking you in a weird place.
@mamatowildones, I love the image of you sitting there eating a whole pineapple. I hope it works!
My 3 moms (mom, grandma, and aunt) just came in like a whirlwind and finished packing my house. I called my mom yesterday and vented about how overwhelmed I was, and they showed up like the cavalry and did so much this evening. It was a huge weight off my shoulders. Good timing, too, because I started having pelvic pain today and I feel like I'm not able to do much physically. The pressure made me feel like the baby could come at anytime, but I'm only 34 weeks so hopefully he'll stay put for another month or so!

Hi ladies! At 3 p.m. today I was discharged, hooray! I came home and napped and had dinner and am resting again. The conversation with that doc from my OB practice went really well and she determined that it'd be okay for me to come home and be on super strict bedrest. So no doing ANYthing. I need to rally the troops and get things squared away but we get to attempt to keep this little guy cooking! Every single day will make a big difference, and we're trying to get as close to 37 weeks as we can. Two weeks to go. So, moving forward, it's very close at-home monitoring of my BP, being vigilant of the symptoms of pre-e, still having my twice weekly OB appts with ultrasounds, maintaining bedrest, and getting this baby to a really good place before he becomes an outside baby! I can't wait to meet him... just not today.
