Re: waxing. I waxed for several years and then splurged on laser hair removal. It's grown back some (normal with pregnancy). But OMG, no way, no how would I want a wax during pregnancy, especially this far along. Ouch!
Re: clingy toddler. Yes. DS is already a cuddle bug, but lately he wants to sit and rock and gives unsolicited hugs (with both me and DH). I'm soaking it all in. I have a feeling that he understands more than we suspect.
WOW! I've been super busy at work these past few days... and BAM we have 7 new May babies! Congrats to: @0408Bear@Jkp7749@chailife34@fbmandy55@n&a0630. I'm so happy to read mamas and babies are all doing well.
So much more to catch up on...
@SKZW Glad you're back home and like many pp, wish there was a clone of yourself to give the enthusiastic positivity and support you always provide to us.
@jayandaplus I got some handouts from my OB that we shouldn't shave or wax within the last 4 weeks to prevent infection. Last time, I waxed just prior to 4 weeks of EDD. (I don't even know what got into me because prior to that pregnancy, I NEVER waxed, just trimmed.) This time around, I've been using clippers to keep things tame in the jungle.
@mcvgal So happy to read you are ALL home together!
@RainyDays86 Positive vibes your way for a successful and uneventful surgery tomorrow.
@kns1988 Wow, can your 3 moms come help me? Lol. That's super awesome they came to your rescue!
@vrj0522 That's really cool about the group of women putting freezer meals together for you!
My random: I thought I'd have more time to do personal things (aka bump and online shop) while being on modified duty, but I swear I've been doing and completing so many projects that I'm not even taking all of my breaks. WTH?!
Does anyone else recall, from like a month ago, there was a little convo about "positive affirmations"? I remember reading some really great mantras/sayings that people posted, to help during labor, and I should've copied them then & realized I'd never be able to find them again. But does this sound familiar to anyone else? Or was it maybe one of those pinterest holes I fell into awhile back? This has kept me awake wracking my noggin over it, haha.
@skzw I don't remember us having a board for that, but I've definitely thought that we should have something like that! I love quotes and positive affirmations. They make me happy I'm so down for a board like that!

Random: Any STM+ moms notice their toddlers being clingy close to the end? I swear DD is literally all over me all day. If I weren't mobile bumping I would add the Mean Girls "why are you so obsessed with me" gif
I JUST said something about this to H the other night. DS follows me around like a little duckling, and when I stop and sit down, he has to be touching me somehow. If I was home with him all day, I think it would drive me bonkers, but since I only get a couple of hours with him at night, I think it's pretty freaking adorable.
I just want to say we are some awesome mommas!!! Congratulations to all the recent deliveries and those from weeks ago! I haven't had much time to individually comment but hope things are still with everyone!!! I'll add to my thread as we go, and hope others will too!!!!
I think we have covered (and uncovered?) the timing of final pubic maintenance but what about your other hair? You know, the stuff on your head.
I am a 35w laggard and am trying to figure out when to schedule my final hair appt. I have quite a bit of grey and the roots are nearly 2 inches thanks to crazy growth, something needs to be done. But with a newborn and then the move I want to put it off as long as I can but not go too far that 1. baby shows up or 2. there is no frigging way I can sit for two hours.
WWM17D? 36w? 37w?
And no, I have no idea what I did last time because my brain erased everything from about 34w to 6 months pp so it could trick me into doing this again
@wombthereitis my mom was just talking to me about trimming my hair and maybe doing highlights (she's a hair stylist). Not sure when she plans on doing this, but I'd rather it be sooner than later! I'll be 36 weeks this weekend, maybe I can convince her to come to my house to do it instead of me driving over an hour to get to her work. I really want to get a pedicure too! She doesn't do those, but could really use one!
"A day without laughter is a day wasted." ~Charlie Chaplin
@wombthereitis I have a hair appt today. I'm 36 weeks tomorrow, but DS came 2 weeks early and we have a very busy schedule between now and EDD so I wanted to make sure to squeeze in my hair appt.
@WombThereItIs I scheduled a hair appointment for when I'll be 37 weeks. I'm just getting a trim, but I wanted to make sure it was a few weeks beforehand in case the baby comes early.
I went and got my hair cut last week at 33 weeks so that it had time to grow to that perfect spot where it's not obviously still fresh but still looks awesome. Also because my hair can't deal after being cut and has a way too long awkward stage.
I got my hair trimmed last week @WombThereItIs, I'm 35wks this week. I have my next appointment scheduled end of June so it's like 10wks between appointments when I usually go 8wks.

Have any STMs+ ever purchased a baby scale to monitor weight gain at home? I had supply issues with my first, and a friend mentioned that as a possibility.

@WombThereItIs I love "WWM17D?"! I don't do any maintenance to my hair up top, so I'm no help. My mom used to have a little color stick she could use just around the roots. Is this a thing you could look into to help with the timeline?
@kayemjay2 I'm glad you're asking this, because I've wondered also. I will say, though, that for me, it might be a bad idea because I worry DH and I will obsess over the weight, rather than have a pediatrician tell us if it's okay or not. I'd rather bring baby in to the peds office if I worry (which I will), versus have the option of weighing 5x a day at home (which I probably would if I could). But I haven't 100% decided. Some nursing books seem to recommend having a scale.
@jayandaplus - That's a good point, I would likely do the same thing. I didn't know that my son wasn't getting enough until they weighed him, had me feed him in the office, and then weighted him again...and he had actually lost weight. I am already worried about my production with this kid. I did really like @Kipperoo's feeding set up- I'm debating going right to supplementing and not stressing about it. Basically, I can't decide if the scale would increase or decrease my stress if I attempt EBF again.

I think we have covered (and uncovered?) the timing of final pubic maintenance but what about your other hair? You know, the stuff on your head.
I did mine 2 Fridays ago (I'm 38 weeks today). I figured that would mean I'd look decent for a few months and time it where I could probably go back to work without HAVING to redo it, but it wouldn't be too soon if I chose to.
@kayemjay2 I ended up purchasing this scale about 5 weeks in last time because we were having weight gain issues and going to the peds once a week for weight checks. I broke down and ordered it when I was giving DS a bath and his legs were just so skinny. My husband was in Miami at a conference when it arrived and I discovered that DS was still only at birth weight at 6 weeks cue all the tears. I will be happy to have one this time. It is a lot of work to load up a baby to go to the dr for a weight check. But I know a lot of people wouldn't need one. It is a good 2 day shipping purchase, if you end up thinking it would be useful.
@Louise_Belcher - Thanks for the recommendation, that looks like a good one, and - not too pricey. I do think it's funny that Walmart specifies that it's for men...haha. I definitely understand the tears- it took DS a month to get back to birth weight, and he was pretty small to begin with for an overdue baby.

@WombThereItIs I am guilty of just letting my hair go this pregnancy. I have like 4 inches of roots showing right now.... no grey, but I had lightened it so you. An definetly tell some. Not terrible, but definetly noticeable. My hair has also grown SO long. I'm on the fence about cutting it.... it's to the top of my lower back right now, and I know I'm not going to want to do much with it with a newborn.... lots of messy buns I guess
@WombThereItIs I have my hair appt scheduled for tomorrow (highlights and cut) and I'll be 35 weeks on Saturday. I'll probably schedule another one maybe 10 weeks out, to give me time if I'm over due and yadda yadda. I've been seeing this hair person for a few years, and both my SIL go to her, so I know I can sneak in to get my hair done if I can't make the first postpartum one
I'll probably fix my hair up this week.. only because I have some pictures this weekend. I plan on wearing a messy bun in my hair for at least 12 weeks after baby is born along with yoga pants/shorts : ) No one can judge.. you have a newborn!
First of all, holy crap! I was off the bump for like 2 days and I come back to 5 birth announcements! Congratulations @0408Bear, @Jkp7749, @fbmandy55, @chailife34, and @n&a0630! I'm so excited for you all!
I updated my original cancer thread but I'm heading into surgery in a few hours. Big apologies for being so out of it lately but I really appreciate all of the support today. You guys are the best.
I am gearing up to be totally physically useless for the next few weeks so I'm looking forward to getting all caught up on TB soon. In the meantime, I hope everyone is having a great Thursday!

I have my last hair appointment for tomorrow, I'll be 38 weeks. I am thinking I really should've done it at like, 37 weeks. I've also started washing my hair every 2-3 days instead of 4-5 so I don't get caught in the hospital with 5th days hair.
@nda_roxybabe I forgot you are a 4-5 day washer! I have a question for you! Does your hair actually get oily by day 4-5 or do you just wash it? My hair has been so great this pregnancy and way less oily. I'm pretty sure I've gone a week before remembering to wash it, but it seems to get super staticy when it needs to be washed.
@nda_roxybabe and @absbubbs I too would like to know all of the things about skipping washes? What products do people use? What do you do to style your hair on non-wash days? What kind of hair texture do you have and do you think that plays a role in being able to go so long? I recently started every other day and usually hate my second day hair. I need to sponge some knowledge from you ladies!
@Louise_Belcher It took me a little bit of time to get used to the every other day washing schedule, but now I like Day 2 hair better than freshly washed! I don't know if I could ever stretch it to 5 days though!

I'm a once a week washer and have been since 2007. Before that it was everyday or every other day but it is something you have to train your hair to do because when I washed everyday or every other day I definitely had greasy hair that needed to be washed but in '07 my summer job as a theme park singer/dancer required wigs so I just had a low bun everyday and within a couple months of weekly washing my hair completely changed. Something about not stripping the natural healthy oils so they don't go into overdrive. Also it was less heat (hairdryer/straightener etc.) applied to my hair so it probably helped the overall health. But I can usually wear my hair down 3-4 days after washing and then the last few days I do pony/bun/braid etc. since it starts to look a little less fresh by then.
@Louise_Belcher - I've gotten to wear I usually only wash mine once a week. The only exception would be if we've got what I consider "real" plans on the weekend, because it can get a little dicey there. My hair is a little longer than shoulder length and it's really fine, and also I have completely stopped even the guise of working out regularly. My week looks like this: Monday morning wash/style (wear down), Tuesday/Wed touch up style - probably add some extra waves to hide that it doesn't look fabulous (usually wear down), Thurs blast roots all over with Suave dry shampoo and touch up style (might end up pulled up), Fri maybe add some more dry shampoo and toss that -ish in a bun/pony. The weekends are a gamble. If we're just doing little things here and there, I'll probably continue pulling it up and adding dry shampoo if necessary. If I feel like we're doing something that is important enough to merit wearing makeup, then I wash on the weekend. Otherwise, I wait until Monday.
It took time get to be able to go this long in between, but having a newborn really helped. I just didn't care while I was on maternity leave or the first few months I was back at work. By the time I started to crawl out of sleep deprivation, I was like "oh, cool, I don't actually NEEEEEEED to wash my hair".
@Louise_Belcher It took my hair some time, like maybe 4-6 weeks?. I think I just went straight to every 3rd day when I started and I would have all my hair back on the final day. I have thick fine hair, but I can't do boo with it when it's dirty. I know some people use baby powder to help inbetween days but I hated how it felt and looked.
