  • @pawcall I would have but a few things are getting in the way. the AF fairy must've just read my post and boom, got my period 5 minutes later. I am leaving for a trip to florida early tomorrow morning so I can't do any baselines until next week which is too late. Also my RE office is closed the last 2 weeks of march which is when my next iui would take place. The next opening for IVF on my RE schedule is end of april but if something opens up I can get in sooner, in which case i need to be already on bcp with suppressed hormones. honestly, as much as i don't want to take a break I think it is really needed physically and emotionally. my best friend casually announced her pregnancy this weekend, they weren't even trying and she didn't even try to take my feelings into consideration and I had a meltdown. I really need to step away for a month or so, so I think the timing of this works out. I'll start birth control tonight and then I wait until I start stims, hopefully earlier than end of april.

I went ahead with it, but feel the same way now - if this doesn't work, I don't know how much I have in me right now.

So sorry @brooklyngirl18. I'm in the same boat as you, BFN but still no period. I think the lovely progesterone suppositories are delaying it.

Now I have to vent. I just attended a baby shower at work and it was much harder than I expected it would be. There were three pregnant girls at the shower, one who announced she's pregnant at the shower. I feel terrible that I'm not happier for them, but I honestly just wanted to run out of the room crying. It's so hard to sit there and grin and bear it.
  • @brooklyngirl18 so sorry for your bfn. Good luck with IVF. I have my fingers crossed for you!

    @brooklyngirl18 and

Amanda_1182 Sorry about the BFN and sorry about having to hear the positive news of others, it can be so hard to digest when it is on our mind 24/7.

I had my baseline u/s and they just called indicating that I am good to start another cycle of IUI with the Menopur injections.

I will keep an eye on the board and hoping to hear some positive results for everyone.  Moving into the March IUI thread as well.

    FX ladies!

    @bpietronicco - congratulations!
@brooklyngirl18 - I am so sorry! Sounds like in addition to the emotional drain of the BFNs, you have to deal with a disorganized clinic. Insult, meet injury. If you do end up taking a break - looks like you may have to - I hope you get lots of r&r. Good luck!

  • @bpietronicco Wow, congrats. So lucky.
Also, sorry for the BFNs :( IF is a bitch.

Stark white FRER for me today. I wonder, since I never even had one positive test in a year of trying and IUIs (not even cp), if my real problem is fertilization/sperm quality or tubal as opposed to egg quality. I had endo on the other side so this month I had a tiny bit of hope because the follicle was on the 'good' side. Of course both of these are part of our "probable diagnosis" so yeah, it seems this is it, but given the IVF results I tend to believe the problem is with my hubby's sperm DNA..:( It's hard for him to accept it and he is reluctant to make lifestyle changes...
I didn't want to test because I knew it would make me a bit depressed. I did it feeling that it would just confirm and I can put it to rest and move ahead. But yeah, I can't help feeling a bit bitter.

It's hard for me at this point not to lose almost all hope, that even with IVF, this can happen..I live now with the default that I don't get pregnant, with the possibility of a baby reserved for the "miracle" category, while normal women walk around with the default of getting pregnant at any time.
  • So sorry for the BFNs @brooklyngirl18 and @bestofjoy <3

Started estrace a few days before iui and then on day 7piui started 200mg of progesterone because progesterone level was only 3.2. Edited to add - I have a blocked right tube

  • @bestofjoy - I'm sorry for the BFN.  I'm finding it hard to stay hopeful, myself, but looking at the stats helps me a little bit.  People *are* getting pregnant, I have to hope it will happen to me too.  But I feel you - this is cycle 14, IUI #2, and I've never had a positive.  Not that I'd want to have a loss of any kind, but it would be encouraging to know it's possible to conceive.

I hope IVF is the ticket for you.

As for me, I'm 4dpo and have had a nasty headache for 2 days now.  I think it's a migraine, so I'm nauseous and overall miserable too.  I get migraines ALL THE TIME, especially now that I'm off all of my preventives, but it's hard not to let some tiny spark of hope tell myself "maybe it's a hormonal change."  Ridiculous.  I'm 4dpo.  Nothing would have even implanted yet.  I'll see my RE on on Friday (6dpo) for progesterone bloodwork.

I am starting to get discouraged as I see how things are piling up.  As of this moment, just since I began the IUI's last month, I've had 8 ultrasounds, 20 tubes of bloodwork, and have spent over $700 in copays - and I'm sure there will be a bill forthcoming for all of the bloodwork.  I'm only on IUI #2.  God, this feels impossible.

It definitely does help!  Last month, out of 14 of us, there were 3 BFP's.  So far, 3 out of the 12 who have reported back have BFP's, so similar results percentage-wise so far - and if things hold true, hopefully we'll see another couple of BFP's (at least!) as the remaining 10 of us test.

One of my best friends is being induced tomorrow.  I am supposed to be happy for her, but I just can't muster up any appropriate responses.  Her third singleton in 2.5 years, she wasn't trying for this one or the last one, and she really hasn't expressed excitement about any of it - other than "not being pregnant anymore".

I am so, so thankful that I'll get a little time before having to see her - my own little guy is sick so I wouldn't want any of us around her newbie anytime too soon.

    New here!!
Had my first IUI on 2.24.17. A little background- I have one ovary and one tube, anovulation. DH has low count.
IUI had two 22.5mm follies, 8mm lining. Count post wash 2million with 83% motility. I'm on Estradiol and crinone. I take test next Friday!! 6dpiui and I'm going crazy!!! Good luck and baby dust to everyone!!! Congrats to everyone who got their BFP!
    Anyone have low count too?
    Me (26) + DH (29)
    One ovary, one tube. Annovulation.
    Low sperm count.
    Clomid+trigger+IUI (2million/83% motility) = 02.24.17 = ??
  • This TWW is hard! I'm taking an impromptu road trip to 2 neighboring states to visit some family for a few days each. Thinking the distraction will help since I've had major nerves about will this one work or will we be starting IVF. I've never asked for a week off work with such short notice in my life but they are really flexible!

@PeaGreen421 welcome! We don't have low count but we have low motility and morphology. I have to say that's incredible motility! I always think, it only takes 1!

Question for everyone really...when you get to the point of having the IUI do most of you have more than one follie? I had one, but great size, and was excited for that (again, only takes one) but wondering if the Femara should be making me produce more? When I asked my RE he explained that we only produce 1-point- something on average per cycle...but again, with Femara should it be more? Maybe he was trying to make me feel better but that at my age I'm lucky to get one?

@momifbysea I also always think , it only takes one! lol I was happy with motility, and surprising enough the nurses nor the andrologist even mentioned anything negative about the sample, but Of course DH felt discouraged. Our poor hubbys. What is your count/motility usually? They didn't even mention morphology, now wondering if they tested for that.
To answer your other question my RE never said anything about how many follicles to expect or what was considered "good", im thinking as long as theres one healthy one that's all you need! Good luck!!!

  • @PeaGreen421 - I've added you to our tracking sheet.  Good luck!!  In my experience, they test morphology when you do a standalone SA, but not when they're just doing the IUI wash.  During the wash, they will know the count and motility, but they don't examine for/record morphology.

@Momifbysea - I had one follicle for my first IUI, which was unmedicated.  My second IUI, I ended up with two mature follies, on clomid.  I think the drugs tend to produce more if you already produce them on your own but it's not a guarantee.  My RE likes to have 2-3 mature follies for a medicated cycle, just so there are "more targets" to work with - and as he loves to remind me, "we all know most eggs are not normal" (wouldn't properly fertilize/implant.

  • I was at the RE's office today for a progesterone check, and happened to sneak a peek at my file to see what the numbers from this IUI were.  I thought maybe I'd gotten confused about my pre-wash/post-wash numbers, but nope.  Our numbers are higher post-wash because they concentrate the sample down and a sperm count is per ml.

Our raw sample was 56 million sperm with 54% motility in 1.5ml.  Post wash, the sample was 0.5ml, but the count was "greater than 100 million" (which is per ml) with 45% motility.

My RE looks for the raw volume to be at least 1.5ml, at least 15 million count, and at least 40% motility.  So I'm happy with our numbers, I don't they were quite this good last month.

@Momifbysea With letrozole, my RE usually expects just one follicle (max. 2). With Clomid, he sees one more follicle usually, so 2, max. 3. But I only had one mature follicle on Clomid, and one smaller/immature one, and I'm in my mid-30s. I am an over-responder to medications (IVF), so I think my response to IUI was pretty standard.
