@awoodruff27Love Josephine!  I'm biased though, DD is Josephine Rose (nn Josie).  I do look out for initials though and would probably steer away from J.E.W. as initials.  Don't let that deter you though.

  • @EmeraldNC  I reread and saw the nickname in the prior post. Sorry to re-ask I need to slow down when I read.  DH goes by Tommy, so that is why we did Thomas. I had wanted Courtney for a first name but DH couldn't do it. He associates it with a girl's name...like you.  In our family it's a boy's name (Irish descent).

    Me: 34  DH: 35

  • We are going with Lucille Charlotte. Lucille for my grandmother and Charlotte for my sister. DS is so cute when he says it because he stretches the "oo" sound.  Looooo-cy.

  • @Elyse1384 DD is Bridget named after her great, great, great grandmother who spelled it that way. I LOVE her name which makes naming this one even harder because I don't love it.

Haha I tried talking to dh about changing her middle name. And he won't sway. He has pushed for Elizabeth for a name for all our girls. So I'm thinking she might just have silly initials.

I love love love Lucille Charlotte!

Mom to Madison- 5 and Lillian 2....and now surprise baby #3!
  • Anyone just given up on the great name debate due to a lack of loving a name that the other will accept?

I like but don't love DH's top choice and he hates my favorite 3 or 4.  It just feels weird not to really like or love the first name.  I could see compromising on a middle name... but the first?  Ugh...

I just don't really see DH coming around on mine and I don't hate his pick...
  • michaela0704 I might be to that point too. DH and I both hate each other's top choices. We have a name he likes, but I am not sure on, but don't hate in the running right now. I haven't given in yet, but I am getting close.

  • @michaela0704 We have been in a similar boat and kind of tabled the conversation. I did come up with a new option (Tucker) last night which made the "hmmm....I might like that" list for DH - I will say that he doesn't even really have a list!
Thinking it's going to be a game time decision for this one which is weird since we decided on DD's first name pretty much as soon as we knew she was a girl.
    Me 37, DH 40
    BFP #1 6/13 DD 3/14
    Mirena 10/14-5/16
    BFP #2 9/2/16, CP confirmed 9/8/16
    BFP #3 10/10/16 EDD 6/22/17
  • @michaela0704 I think your pick should have priority because you actually have to give birth. I am only half serious, but if needed I could see myself throwing that out there during a name debate haha.
You shouldn't have to settle on a name this early on at least. Hopefully you'll find one you can agree on that you aren't just indifferent about.

  • @michaela0704 DH wants Charles (nn Charlie) for a boy because it's his middle name and I don't love it but I got to pick the middle name. I like it, it's always been on our list but I'm not in love with it like the name we have for a girl.

  • @michaela0704 I'm in the same boat! My husband is STUCK on one name and I just can't bring myself to love that name, I told him I was fine with it as a middle name but I just don't know about first name but EVERY name I throw out he doesn't like it so I'm also getting to the point where it's like whatever this is getting tiring. Our first son's name was so easy for us to agree on, why can't this one be as easy?
  • Thanks everyone, so glad to know I'm not alone.

He is so stuck on the name we've already received cards/gifts from DH's mom and aunt with the name on it (I wish I was kidding).  DH also offered up giving me full rights to pick the MN with no veto power from him... which I would use my father's name which DH doesn't care for... not to spite DH but because there is no way it would ever have a fighting chance otherwise.

There is one name I've just loved since I heard it as a teenager and now that we are on DS3, used all family names we both love... it feels like it is time to use it but DH just hates it along with my other option for another name that starts with an R, as he is stuck on wanting that.

Edit:  wrong thread -- that's what I get for having multiple tabs open.  So I might as well respond here.

We like Margaret Claire for DD2.  We both reserve the right to change later.  Right now we're planning on Molly for a nn.

  • I think we are going to go with Theodore Eberhard for DS #2. I like Eberhard as a FN but no one would pronounce it correctly (AY-ber-hart).
I wanted to spell/pronounce Theodore the German way too (Theodor, pronounced TAY-o-dor) but that would definitely be setting him up for a lifetime of correcting people. One German name for each kiddo is enough.
  • @krex I love Kaitlyn Aurora!! Beautiful!

@Elyse1384 I like -ette better. If you're just worried about her signing her name I wouldn't worry about it. I have -elle at the end of my name, which is close to the same, and I actually love it. It's my favorite part to sign because of all the loops.

  • DD is Elouise Anne
For this second little girl my top pick right now is Carlee Ruth or
    Carly Ruth
Im not sure on which spelling yet but Carly is what my inlaws wanted to name a little girl if they had one (ended up with 4 boys) and Ruth is my moms name. She is such an inspirational woman.
DH is so indecisive. He won't know until she is here and by then I've had one picked for months.
  • Alright ladies... anyone with my naming style want to weigh in for DS3?

    Kent
    Holt
    Lane
    Reed
    Vaughn
Bracken (family name, I know it isn't a typical choice)

MN will be most likely be Steven but I'm not concerned on how they sound together.

We are fine with the last name on all of these and only one is problematic for the sibling set due to same ending/rhyming but I'll just get over it.  It is a win that I can get DH open to other names...
  • @michaela0704 Same problem over here. We didn't name DS until he was 14 hours old and we had known his sex since 18w! We just couldn't agree!  We do a little better with girl names so this is the only problem with us having another boy. We will get there, but it is frustrating along the way!

As a Carly, your daughter will have a lot less trouble with people spelling her name if you spell it "Carly" or "Carley". There are at least 16 ways to spell the name, but people tend to spell my name one of those two ways. Sometimes Karlie (though that just makes me cringe).
  • DD is Penelope and DH really wants to stick with Greek names. I was fine with this until I realized this may not be our last baby and there are so few Greek names that both of us like and are willing to use. For example, we really like Calista, but just this morning realized it sounds silly with mine and DH's boring names. I think if we continue with Greek names we will name this one Chloe. And, if we ever had another girl we'd name her Phoebe (I guess?), but I'm at a loss at what we'd name a boy.

DH wants several more children. I'm not so sure that more than two children would be right for us. So the number of children that we actually end up having is anyone's guess right now.
  • @NarrowHouses - I love the name Alice! I'm biased though, that's my middle name. We almost went with that instead of Maggie!

If this baby is a girl she will be Chloe! We also talked about Phoebe. I also know a family with a Chloe and Penelope! I didn't even know those were Greek names.

That's awesome! I love Chloe. It sounds so spunky, but still pretty.
  • I'm really stuck on the name Rosalie right now but DH is not on board and says  it doesn't sound like  a "grown up" name. I bet if enough internet strangers say it's cool he'll obviously change his mind  :D

It's definitely a grown up name. It also gives her options. She can go by Rose, Lee, or any variation of those names.
  • We're paralyzed trying to figure out a name.  Our 18mo daughter is Olivia Pierce and we absolutely love her name and it fits her so perfectly.  Now we can't figure out a name for this little girl.  Too much pressure...  And a little confession -- Olivia didn't have a name until day 3, so what you think you're going to name your LO doesn't mean that you will. Our original name was Charlotte Pierce, but then she didn't look like a Charlotte so we struggled.  Also, another tidbit, don't share your name.  Tell people you are taking suggestions, but not sharing (unless it's with us of course).  We had someone say something negative about Olivia's name and so we decided not to name her that and then changed our minds once we saw her.  People can be so mean when it comes to name ideas and their preferences.
  • @CurlyMommy416 love the name Rosalie! I have a soft spot for older names.

@ladylolly89  Good points. Thanks for the advice :)
  • DH got to pick the boy name and he chose Charles because that is his middle name. We will call him Charlie. I get to pick the middle name and I want to honor my maternal grandparents. Here are my options:

    Charles Ira
    Chalres Taylor
    Charles Max (maybe Maxwell?)

i was was going to go with Taylor but I've had a lot of people say they like Ira better!

You could always ask her how she feels about you using it?

  • My son will be Danny Ray the third. I would like to come up with a cute nickname but I haven't had any ideas his dad grew up being called DJ for Danny jr.

    I am stuck!

Considering Landon, Nolan, Cole and Jasper
    thoughts??

@lmudra Emerie is a cool name!
  • @onaed I LOVE the name Jasper.

DH and I are stuck between two names. Chloe Elizabeth or Gemma Rae. DD is Penelope and we initially wanted to stick with Greek names, but then he mentioned Gemma and I fell in love with it. My only concerns with Gemma are: FIL is nicknamed Jim (although I asked the name board and none of them thought that was a big deal so I'm not too concerned about it anymore) and the possibility of people thinking her name is Emma and having to correct people her whole life. Thoughts?
  • @doodleoodle, I really like Chloe Elizabeth, but I don't think you can go wrong with either name.  They're both lovely!  I wouldn't be concerned about Gemma as a name, I don't think anyone will mistake it for Emma, if that's the name you pick.
