TTC After a Loss

Waiting for AF after MC

Re: Waiting for AF after MC

  • @MimoCa My body is a mess. Yesterday I had EWCM at CD 21..what? I'm super regular and I always O on CD 14/15...even during my 1st cycle after 5 years of nonstop birth control. Other than that I have cramps. Cant wait for AF to get here!

Same here...was only pg for 9 weeks, but this PMS is driving me crazy. I'm hoping this week will be your week for AF

  • @endo_mom yes I think I had ewcm yesterday morning too and a few days before I kept thinking AF was here but just CM. Now I'm all cramps, bloated, slightly nauseated so I'm thinking AF is coming back with a vengence!!!
  • @weareturtles, you're the only other vet I've seen on these boards! Sorry for your loss.

Just checking in to say "me too!" My loss (first pregnancy at 11w5d) was 10/1, and while I want to see AF (maybe "due" at the end of the month?) to know that things are "working" that way, I secretly kinda don't (gambling).  Doctor's office didn't care to track me down to 0 (I've actually never had any betas ever, so the 100 opk/20 hpt pack of Wondfos I bought back in July (used to get BFP in August - I had 87 OPKs left) is being put to good use!

But still frustrating as temps, CM, and even OPKs seem kind of all over the place (have had negative HPTs so shouldn't be leftover hcg - if I even O at all this month).  But the only time (this being my second cycle using them) I've seen my opk test line *darker* than the control was when I was playing using it as hpt.

    I'm 39 and impatient...

@MimoCa bloated + nausea...perhaps you gambled and won? Have you tried HPT? Didnt you mention you had 0 HCG last week...perhaps its good news that AF is not here?

@artemis618 Same here. My Dr. is not tracking HCG down so I'm relying on HPTs. Today I got the faintest line...but I guess its still considered positive  Never in my life I though I would be dissapointed with a + HPT....the irony. OPKs are crazy for me as well. I'm also expecting AF by the end of the month (hopefully) and this was also my first pregnancy.

  • @endo_mom welp. I don't know. I tried HPT but negative sooooo..... Additionally I was HCG 0 6 weeks ago so I think my body just hates me and I've never won at gambling but I'll test again on Friday and see. I don't want to get my hopes up.
  • That sucks that you ladies' doctors are tracking your hcg down :(
  • @MimoCa  I am jumping on the body hating me train.... Woke up with a fever today and bright red bleeding.  I was so groggy I was like, yeah AF!!! Then I realized my HCG is still in the 1000s (hopefully in the triple digits tomorrow when I get retested.)  I also broke the crown on my tooth and would up in emergency dentist's chair.  When it rains, it pours!

  • Morning!  FF gave me tentative (dotted) x-hairs this AM, so maybe encouraged? I don't know if I can believe it given my somewhat suspect inputs (opks, temps high till 8 days after loss, almost non-existent CM - plus we were camping over the weekend), but I'll take it for today!

@artemis618 Have you been charting after your MC? I'm new to BBT charting, but judging by symptoms I'm sure my chart would have looked strange this month. Yay for the dotted line!

@endo_mom I started temping 10/3 (loss was 10/1) just 'cause I was out of town at my parents (actually en route when I started :-/) and didn't have my thermometer with me (didn't think I'd have any need for it!). I'm a little neurotic and like to know what's going on if I can tell.  I didn't get down to my range of pre-O temps from my only frame of reference till 10/9.

I kind of wish that I'd temped a couple of cycles before the wedding/ttc so I'd have more of a clue, but I didn't.  I only temped my July cycle and it "worked" so haven't tracked a full ovulatory/non-KU cycle yet.  But I understood temp drops just before AF? (not what you want to hear, I know, but bear in mind I've only temped one cycle and didn't get AF for that one so don't really know!)

@artemis618  Wouldn't hurt to BD anyway right during the X hairs even if its suspect lol!

@MimoCa If FF is right (shifted on O me with the dotted lines this AM), our timing would actually be -2, -1, 0, +1 (which would actually be better than the -5, -3, -1, 0 that worked for us in July).  Of course we were advised to wait a cycle (AF expected maybe end of the month), but we were camping over the weekend (gambling)...Who knows?

@artemis618 I think temps drop before AF. Ive only been tracking my cycle with OPKs since June although we only started TTC in August. You should be covered either way with the BD. The month I got pg we only BD twice on -1 and 0.

Wishing you luck this cycle. I hope the gambling pays off for one of us (or all)
BTW, I have never ever won anything gambling so I'm relying on all of you  No pressure

Still sore breasts and really painful tailbone started yesterday. Heard that might be AF related too. one can hope for either lol!
  • Happy Friday ladies! I took an HPT to see, but BFN. I don't mind, more relieved really but still I need AF to come before November otherwise my doctor wants to give me medication to jump start it. Booo. I'm only really annoyed since my HCG were at 0 for so long now. And my nipples, and back really hurt.

    How are you ladies?
  • @MimoCa Sorry about the BFN, but for sure its a relieve...I'm over analyzing every little symptom. So far, my PMS is exactly like pg..nausea, sore boobs, fatigue. I talked to the nurse today since I have my follow up appointment next week and she said sometimes the first AF symptoms can be like pg symptoms. Here's to hoping AF shows up next week for both of us!

  • Me too! Still playing the waiting game :(
  • Ladies...I went to my follow up...mixed feelings. The nurse asked about my LMP...like I was pregnant..ughh. Doctor did an exam...said things look good. He said AF could come tomorrow or in 2 months since everybody is different YAY!!!  I'm due for my pap smear, but he wanted to wait because D&C might trigger false positives. I asked if he can see me earlier when I get pregnant next time. He said he prefers 8 weeks since at 6 weeks it might give me a false sense of security and he doesnt want to get my hopes up. Since my MC was empty sac and no baby...seeing a baby at 6 weeks would actually give me peace of mind..but oh well... other than that nothing else to report.

  • @MimoCa Congrats! Hopefully your next tests give you more confidence.

As a favor to the ladies on this board, could you please edit your post and add "****TW****" to the top of your post (trigger warning)? BFPs are hard to see for a lot of people on this board, especially ones having a rough TTCAL day, and trigger warnings help them skip over your post if they need to.
  • @endo_mom I hated my last Doctor's visit too and they told me the same thing about not seeing it early even with a MC. Its annoying because you will never be secure about it until actually seeing the baby.
  • No worries @MimoCa. Thanks for adding it!

@endo_mom Ugh. I'm so sorry your doctor won't do an earlier ultrasound. My last MC was also a blighted ovum. Sac, yolk sac, but no baby. I'd be encouraged to see a baby on a 6 week ultrasound too. Why can't pregnancy be easier to predict?
  • I often feel like back in the day at least ignorance was bliss. You probably wouldn't know until you were a bit further along but I guess that doesn't trump modern technology, medicines, somewhat equal rights lol.
  • @RiverSong15 I guess since they see so many MCs, for them it becomes normal...I think it's hard to understand the emotional roller coaster women go through...especially for a male doctor. He kept saying it won't happen again since it was just bad luck...somehow he thought that would cheer me up  I kept asking how can I know next time if its a blighted ovum (blood or something). He assured me there's no way to know until the ultrasound. He probably thinks I'm paranoid

@MimoCa I know...mixed feelings about technology...I'm happy its there but a loss after seeing a baby is harder. My mom never had an US with me...she didnt even know the gender before hand. I cannot imagine me doing that now in this culture where everything is NOW

    ******TW*******
@endo_mom and @RiverSong15 I really thought seeing the baby would make me feel better too because I did not with my first two. This last pregnancy we saw the baby and even the heartbeat. One week later, there was no heartbeat. This loss was by far the most devastating because I really thought we would have our rainbow that we saw. Maybe that will help with having to wait until 8 weeks? This process that should be so exciting and happy, is now very stressful and heartbreaking. I pray that we all get our exciting and happy one very soon.

@endo_mom I didn't know sex with my first child and it was so cool to have a real surprise. That being said, friends and family were downright rude and offensive because we opted not to find out. Now 3 years later it is the cool thing to not find out.

I think about it and look back on my grandmother's time and even recently where DH is from and it was very common for women to have multiple still births and an astounding infant mortality rate. So much so to the point it is deems bad luck in our culture to have baby showers and any of the sort of fun things associated with pregnancy. In one way technology has definitely lessen these numbers but sometimes I think, well if I never took the pregnancy test in the first place or gone to the doctor I would not have known I was pregnant and thusly been aware of an MC. Always a but, and what if. Life can be so confusing and frustrating.
  • @NewMommyCoop Thanks for sharing your experience. You are right regarding that its easier it you dont see the baby in case something happens afterwards. I think I will wait if it eventually happens (not that I have much option since the Dr. will no see me earlier). Hoping for good news from all the ladies from this group.

@flipflopped I admire you. I am a planner, so I don't think I could wait just for buying clothes and the nursery. I agree that the surprise is nicer at birth. Did you have any feelings or predictions of the gender? If so, were you right?
