I had a dream last night that I was a truck driver and I was also moving and was broke, so my truck driver friend was going to teach me how to live in my truck and save up some money.  :o
  • @fourPsinapod Omg so much constipation. Fiber helps. water and walking help. Also, check your prenatal-- it may have too much Iron and that makes your constipated. I switched and my constipation has been much better.

As I was leaving today, DH was complaining that his alarm woke him up in the middle of a dream...  He was just about to meet President Obama with Luke Cage.  He looked so sad.  Boy, do I love that man for ridiculous reasons.
    that dream sounds awesome!
  • Well, DH and I are both off tomorrow due to the hurricane, I'm just hoping he doesn't get called out in the crappy weather. The good news is the only reason he would really get called is if a hospital or shelter loses power, which still sucks because people there need power for medical reasons.

I'm making a last minute run to see if anyone restocked water last night, because we could use a couple more gallons, but the shelves were all empty at publix last night.

Also, recommended (but not mandatory) evacuations have started across the street from me. No one has left yet so far as I can tell.
Rainbow baby Dean is due 2/17/17!
  • Thinking of you @WinchesterGirl and all of our Florida residents. Hope it isn't a bad one and passes quickly!
  • My life-long best friends (they're brothers) moved to Charleston last year and their parents followed and moved down about 6 months ago. So my whole "second family" is down there. They are in an evacuation zone. The boys are more inland so they have decided to stay. The parents are coastal and have 3 large dogs - 2 are very old and 1 doesn't get along with other dogs at all and I guess almost killed the boys' dog. They can't pack them all in a car, they can't send the dogs anywhere, they can't stay. They haven't evacuated yet because they aren't sure what to do. I'm hoping they find a hotel that takes all the dogs like 150 miles inland and they just go. I'm soooo scared for all of them :(

On top of that, my family lost my cousin on Sunday (well sooner but he was found Sunday) in a horrible, horrible way. He was only 30. It has shaken everyone. My stress and anxiety levels are through the roof. AN di know it isn't good for baby - anyone have any good methods for stress relief? I do yoga but that doesn't help while I am at work and my brain won't stop....

  • @jellis8790 and @WinchesterGirl I'm so sorry you're going through this.

    WinchesterGirl stay safe!

Jellis, i hope your family is okay and I'm so sorry for your loss. Prenatal massage, meditation, deep breathing? Sometimes, just a good cry. *hugs*
  • @Gretchypoo thank you, I appreciate it. I'm trying to just stay busy during the day and doing some prenatal yoga and meditation at night. It's just tough...

@WinchesterGirl stay safe! You're in my thoughts, I know this is not an easy situation. Hopefully you do have somewhere to go if needed. Everyone down south, in evacuation zones or not, stay safe - you're in my thoughts!

  • Also, is it @homemake and @jstringfellow19 who are also in FL with me? Are you guys all good?

    Who else is in Fl?
Rainbow baby Dean is due 2/17/17!
  • Publix had plenty of water, so we are all stocked up now... all the laundry is in the dryer, the car is gased up, and nothing is loose outside. So, we are pretty much Matthew ready. Oh, and I got us all the fixings to have a giant breakfast at home tomorrow, since we'll both be off with nothing better to do!

The good news about all of my family being in the area but somewhat spread out, is we can all go camp with anyone who has power if needed.

Now I'm off to go spend the day crocheting with my SIL, so no worries for this Floridian.

@jlellis603 If your family is in SC, they still have time to figure things out! We are in North FL and it won't get truly bad here until tomorrow-ish. The good news about hurricanes, is that there is plenty of advance notice.
Also, I'm sorry to hear about your cousin, but try not to stress! You can still close your eyes and do a few minutes of meditative breathing, even at work.

It sounds like you know your hurricane preparedness! Hunker down and stay safe! I'm from New England and never experienced hurricanes, just giant ice storms haha. But that's at least a little reassuring that they have a little bit of time to finally decide what to do. They are concerned obviously for the dogs but also they are on an island more or less so they are concerned about not being able to get back home for a long while afterwards. And thank you. I try to take 15 minutes walks at break to clear my mind, but I will try to do some breathing at my desk if all else fails
  • Also, is it @homemake and @jstringfellow19 who are also in FL with me? Are you guys all good?

    Who else is in Fl?
I'm in south Florida. I just made a thread for all things hurricane. This way we can check in and make sure we're all safe.

  • @WinchesterGirl thinking of you guys and hoping it slows down and eases up by the time it gets towards y'all. Hurricanes are no fun but sounds like you've got it down. I hope your H doesn't have to leave and power stays in those emergency/special areas. After two separate hurricanes we ended up going to my aunt's,  because she was down the street and on the same grid as the police department! So I totally get the whole relocating to whichever family has power situation! Haha. Hopefully it won't be too bad and you'll be able to enjoy sometime with you H.

@jlellis603 ugh I'm sorry that your extended family is dealing with all of that. Dogs and evacuating are so difficult. It's such a shame more places don't make exceptions during times of crisis to allow for pets. I hope they're able to get the situation figured out soon!
  • @WinchesterGirl and any other FL ladies, stay safe!

@jlellis603 I am so sorry to hear about your cousin.  Hugs.  Is it possible for your parents to rent an additional car so they don't have to take all of the dogs in one car?  I really hope they find a way to evacuate.  I feel like, in these situations, people should have more options to take their pets with them.  If it's a state of emergency, hotels should try and be more accommodating to those with pets, even though I know there could be additional risks (allergies,etc.).

It just sucks that some people have to make the choice to stay and risk the storm or leave their beloved pets behind and hope for the best.

  • @kirstynikole thank you for all the well wishes :)

@BumpasaurusRex Thank you for the internet hugs :) haha. They aren't my actual parents, just like my second family ya know? But I am with you, hotels should try to be a smidge more understanding during a state of emergency. I don't even know like what their situation is entirely about travel because they are on an island but I really hope they decide to evacuate. I would hate to see them have to make the choice to stay because they couldn't accommodate their furry family members :(

  • @jlellis603 I know it's pretty frowned upon and I may get some flack for this, but could they sneak the dogs into the hotel? I've done that from time to time when necessary. We also snuck our dogs into a public shelter once when there was a tornado nearby, and once we were in and they noticed, it was too late. What were they gonna do, kick us out into the tornado? Nope.

  • @jlellis603 I'm so sorry about your cousin. Please don't worry about stress harming the baby. Women go through all sorts of life events while pregnant and still give birth to healthy LOs. If you think it would help you, however, you could try meeting with a counselor. Many employers have plans that will cover a few visits with an employee assistance person or psych nurse, and sometimes it can be so helpful to clear your head to someone impartial. I've done this before and was always so glad that I did. Yoga is great, but its certainly not a cure-all when big life stuff is going on. Prayers also that your family will find a place to stay safe.

For real, they'd have to have no heart to kick you and your dog out to get sucked into Oz. I told them to try it, like book a room and then just show up and try to bring the dogs in. The issue with the "sneaking" part is they have 3 labs all over 140 lbs - 2 are very old and don't move very fast, the young one is a giant bull in a China shop... so there is no sneaking haha.
  • @jlellis603 I'm so sorry for your loss. :(

everyone in Florida and scary looking face hurricane path stay safe.

I don't like pumpkin, I don't own any plaid shirts, and I've never ever worn Uggs.
Am I even a white girl?
LOL you're just not basic. *insert emoji with hair flip*

Speaking of Uggs, one Christmas about 5-6 years ago my parents bought me and my two sisters Uggs. They were ecstatic because they'd been wanting some and asked for them. Meanwhile I had flown in from San Diego and thought to myself, when TF am I ever gonna wear these & they're not even cute.

I graciously acted excited though and did wear them when me & H went on our snowboarding trips. They were cozy for that trip so I definitely see the appeal. Apparently my dog didn't care for them though because he ripped them up one day while I was at work.
  • Dear God, instant coffee is such a tease. Acts like it's coffee but nowhere near as good.

I'm just hoping my stomach adjusts well to my half caff coffee, because drinking decaf is getting real old.
  • I know we had a talk a while back about feet getting bigger when pregnant, but I can't find it now.. For those of you whose feet did get bigger in pregnancy, when did that happen? Was it closer to 3rd tri? I'm online shopping for some boots since they're on sale right now, but I'm trying to account for possible growth/swelling

I don't remember exactly with my other girls, but this pregnancy my Zumba shoes already are tight and I am super bummed because they were $80 and fairly new. :'(

@srscott3 it was during my third Tri and I went up a half size but went back to normal a few weeks after I had DS

I started like an 8 with DD1, was an 8.5/9 the DD2 turned me into a 9.5/10 and my 9.5 Zumba shoes are currently a struggle to get on. They got wider and longer. :(

  • Uggs are when it's too cold to wear flip flops but you are a person that walks their dog @Spicyweiner

Depends. How do you feel about HGTV? Did you like 'N Sync in HS?
    Nope and nope.
