@LivingLaVidaGinger Oh, your poor mama... I hope she feels better as the days go by. In the meantime, I'm sure she appreciates everything you've been doing to help out!
@LivingLaVidaGinger does your brother know (or maybe someone here does), are there support groups for military families? Otherwise like @AfKash suggested, talking to a therapist might help. Probably not healthy to keep all her worries and anxieties bottled up!
Thanks for the tips everyone! My brother isn't being deployed, he's going to basic training so he went from NC to Illinois and I think that huge transition of her son whose laundry she was folding the day before is now forced to be an adult and self-sufficient. So I guess it's a bit of a shock to her psyche. He is actually the middle child, the youngest is my sister so she and I have been surrounding her. I like the idea of a military support group. I'll have to look into that for her and see if there's any in the area. Otherwise I'm just gonna support her and listen when she needs it. And keep cooking comfort foods because that's what you do for sad people lol
We are looking to possibly have to evacuate and I so am not looking forward to it. I'd love it if this storm just chilled out a bit.
I live right smack in the middle of "Katrina" land so I know what you are going through. Evacuating and uncertainty sucks big time!!!! Good luck to you and your family and anyone else in this hurricanes path!!
@lct2008 Boo! It is looking like it is going to be extremely close to us on Friday, but at this point we are still not on evacuation watch. When are they going to decide?
Thanks everyone!!! It was a rough evening last night and his fever went up to 103.4, but thankfully we were able to get him to take Motrin and finally go to sleep. He slept throughout the night and this AM is fever free and seems to be in better spirits!! I know doctors say teething doesn't cause fevers, but I really think it was his mouth. He kept holding it and crying. He'd also hold food in his mouth until it was mush and only then would he swallow it. Regardless I'm just glad he's feeling better!
I'm feeling fine and thinking I wasn't feeling too great due to lack of water & food since I basically was holding a feverish babe all day. Once H got home I was able to hand him off, eat, and gulp down water. Shortly after I started feeling better.
Hi! Told my work about my pregnancy. They were very accomodating about it "bla bla, what, you only want to take three months off, are you sure, rest is important" so I feel a lot better about the whole thing. Now I can finally switch to "real" maternity wear and am no longer constrained to bump-hiding loose tops.
@WinchesterGirl we must be close to each other. It's supposed to be at us on Friday. I think we'll probably get more info this afternoon. Personally I'm not super worried as it has gone down to a three and when it's supposed to be at us the weather Chanel says it'll maybe be a 2. It seemed it was going to come in more west, but now they're staying it may stay off the coast where we are. So I have my fingers crossed. I think unless they mandatory evac we'll stick it out. Go to a friends house about 10 miles more inland who has a generator maybe. Selfishly I want it to chill because my anatomy scan I scheduled for tomorrow at 10:15 too.
*TW* Florence and the Machines visited a cancer patient in hospice to give her a private concert. And I am sitting at my desk sobbing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmL5xU67qdE
