@WinchesterGirl plus 1 on the telling people I'm pregnant simply because I don't want them to think I'm fat. It's silly sure but I already feel massive so whatever.
Also team SUV here. I looked into mini vans and didn't expect them to be so damn expensive. I just sold my Mazda 2 last weekend and got unexpectedly emotional about it. I'm normally not emotional about anything material (my moms a hoarder, so I pretty much abhor anything unnecessary) but it was my first car and I was sad to see it go.
Add me to the "getting an SUV before baby is born" club. We have a pickup truck and a 2-door coupe - neither of which is baby-friendly AT ALL. We plan to sell the coupe and get a small or midsize SUV. H is leaning toward a Rav-4.
@marriedhamstermom@WinchesterGirl I have been waiting for the day I look pregnant and not just like I have gained weight around the midsection. No one has asked me if I am pregnant yet (which, to be fair, is not something you should ask anyone anyway), but I wish I really LOOKED pregnant. I feel like it's going to happen soon, though. I have had coworkers tell me very recently that I don't look pregnant at all, which feels a little insulting. I definitely look thicker - do they just think I have always looked like this?
So after lurking on January 17 I realized that I will be 24+4 when I have my doctor's appointment next Friday and that got me thinking about the glucose test. When I looked it up it says you take it between 24-28 weeks. They didn't say anything about it when they scheduled this appointment. But if it's not next week then I'd have to have another appointment within the 2 weeks after. I'm already taking off work next week so if I'm going to have to sit there for an hour long test (when my last 2 appointments have taken a couple hours already) I don't really want to take off another day just for that. I guess I'll just have to call and see what they have me scheduled for. Anyone else have experience with it yet? Did they tell you when it was scheduled?
I don't necessarily tell people I'm pregnant. But if I'm feeling uncomfortable like I think people just think I'm fat I sometimes will do the obvious stomach rub- feeling baby move thing.
I am team small SUV. I love my rouge nissan. The big SUV are such a pain to park and suck on gas milage. My rouge is just the perfect size. It has alot of storage room. We only plan on being a 3 person family so we have no need for a third row, but we do alot of skiing so do need storage space that the small suv provides.
@becbec28 I'm not completely sure since I haven't done mine yet but my doctor made it sound like he'd give me the drink ahead of time so I could just drink it before and then not have to sit in the office for an hour. However like I said he didn't give me anything more than that so I'm not entirely sure on what the process will be like.

I'm loving this convo about Team SUV. I have a Volkswagen Beetle, 2 door. #panicking
Both me & my husband got new cars this time last year & i really wanted to go for a beetle but knew we were going to start trying for baby soon & thought i should be more practical so went with a ford focus instead. Im very jealous as i have always wanted a beetle from i was little
@marriedhamstermom I've heard it both ways, at home vs. in office, so I have no idea and my doctor hasn't gone into detail. I guess that probably means I'll be going in again. ugh...
I have a Kia Sportage, the last model year with a V6. I really love that thing. And, I'm pretty sure that nothing bigger will fit in my garage. As is, I've knocked my antenna off at least three times. DH has the bigger garage (our house got an addition two/three owners before us) and drives a Jeep Liberty. So, there's no way we can trade spots unless we both get new cars.
@becbec28 I just did the 1 hr and the 3 hr so I can answer qs!
FOR THE 1 HR- You get the drink b4 your appt and they give you instructions. I drank my drink on my way to the appt so they could draw my blood in the appointment. I wasn't allowed to eat 3 hrs before the appointment. The drink is gross. It made me nauseated, dizzy and gave me a massive headache.
FOR THE 3 HR TEST I had to fast for 8 hrs and they drew my blood after fasting. Then gave me the drink and I got a blood draw 1 hr, 2hrs and 3hrs after the drink (4 blood draws total over 3 hrs. It was fun.) During the test you are not allowed to eat or drink anything.
I recommend having something protein heavy to eat after your test. I had a protein pack for my 1st and a banana with peanut butter for my 2nd
I definitely need to get a new vehicle before LO gets here. It's just H and I so we share a teensy tiny newer Focus. I really don't think a carseat is going to fit back there, but I have literally no idea where to start when looking for an SUV. Halp.
Love the car convo as my husband and I have been talking about this as well. My car (which is our main/nice car since my husband works from home) is a hybrid 4 dour with a hatchback which we looove - but we might want a little more space once baby is here (we also have 2 big dogs we take everywhere with us too). We'll see - we might get a bigger SUV but debating it...
Also - first stranger commented that I was pregnant last night! We were out at dinner, and a man offered me his seat while we waited because I was pregnant!!!! I told my husband I was so glad that people could tell it was a pregnant belly! He was like of course that's what it looks like, but still, nice to have a stranger notice...
@MLRocha we have the V6 too! I didn't realize they had stopped making them with that option.
Honestly for those of you with smaller cars, if this is your first LO try not to panick! As long as you can install the seat in the center of your backseat, you'll usually have room. It's putting multiple seats or an infant seat behind a driver or passenger seat that can get to be a struggle. I didn't realize how much space they took up until we got one. Also, when buying a new car, take your car seat with you. Thankfully we still had DS infant seat and took that and his rear facing seat when we looked at cars. It was a huge factor in which cars we even looked at.
I just had the first client notice I was pregnant. Some of our regular clients already know but this one is new and he noticed and said something about it.
I saw this on huff post earlier, this mom had 6 miscarriages in a row and took this to celebrate her rainbow baby! and is this pic not so beautiful? I would love to do something like this next time! Love to all of you carrying your rainbows! ❤️
My car has the smallest fold down third row ever, so I will take DH's Land Rover when baby comes. The third row is bigger and our oldest are 9 and 11 so they won't be crammed anywhere. Then I can put the two in the car seats in the second row. He might just trade mine for a car that he likes since he will basically only go to work with it. We'll see!
Ugh I'm so jealous of all of you who are car-shopping. I drive a 2010 Civic and I'm so over it. We won't be in a position to buy a new car for me for at least another year, so I guess at least we won't be cramming two little kids into this roller skate?
I'm late to the game, but 3rd row SUV for the win. I don't use my 3rd row of my 2015 Nissan Pathfinder, but I did sit back there and it has tons of leg room. Our 6ft tall car saleman even got back there and was comfy. My DH is anti minivan so SUV is where it will have to be.
Back from Disney World with one hell of a cold. Damn you Mickey!!
Something else for the car shoppers to consider is to check for the tether anchors and spacing, especially in third rows (even in vans). While the bigger vehicles seem to marketed towards families, the third rows aren't always carseat friendly.
So the other day DH and I were watching a movie where a kid eats a bunch of candy before dinner and then hides the wrappers so his mom won't see them. DH laughs and looks at me and says "Seems like something you'd do". I just kind of nervous laughed at that because he doesn't even know how true it is. My FFMC is that I was hungry so I got a snickers bar and yup I hid the wrapper in the trash can because DH always comments has snarky comments on the wrappers he sees in my trash if I forget to hide them.

My DH gets a side eye if he even thinks to make ONE comment about what I am eating or have eaten. I thought it was in the pregnancy rule book for husbands.....

Oh these snarky comments aren't pregnancy related. He's done it long before I was pregnant hence why I hide the candy wrappers that I eat lol. Usually he's joking or just sad I didn't share with him.

I do this too! It's ridiculous. And almost 100% about me, not him. He's a super judgey person to everyone but me... if he saw my candy wrappers he'd probably say, "good for you, babe!" But he's just SO judgey. I'm sort of pathological about not opening myself up to judgement. So I just lie and cover up. Dignified, right?
DS had caps put on his teeth today. They had to out him under for it. I've been a nervous wreck all day. He was a champ though and now he's just playing like nothing happened. I am so thankful our insurance paid for the white caps. They look amazing.
Has anyone went cold turkey on juice? We (parents and dentist) feel that the fruit juice and genetics caused the cavities. We've already cut back to 90% water and 10% juice. We've decided just to cut the juice out altogether. I'm just wondering if I need to prepare myself for something similar to taking the paci away.
@ladyoriza I'm not sure how old your son is, but when my kids were about 3 and 5 we forgot to pick up juice and then got busy, the kids ended up drinking plain water and asked for more! Lol I think they drank water for 3 days before getting bored. So for us the juice cut didn't seem to be a big deal. And I don't want to tell you how to parent, but did you try making sure your son had water after drinking his juice to help clear all the sugars and stuff out of his mouth? We didn't remember to do it every time, but tried to when we remembered. but we cut the juice off in the evening and only let the kids have water, and we rotate between different drinks. Like water, juice, milk, water...
@fourPsinapod I bought some last year and remember I was shocked at the price! And when I made some later that month it was stale!!!
so I thought we were getting local cable today. Cable provider came out and told me we could only get service in the living room due to something with the line, blah blah blah so he set it up there and left. I then called the provider and said I wanted to see about switching to a lower package since we couldn't get the service we wanted, ended up trying to sell me local broadcast channels(Fox,CBS,ABC) for 69 bucks a month! I said never mind, and that they can cancel the service and refund the install fee. Now we're on the sling tv bandwagon and I have to say I'm actually pretty happy with it! Cheaper and better premium channels than the cable company was trying to overprice!
Plus one for the third row SUV, though we have a mini-van too that is mainly for DH/nanny. I drive a Ford Explorer and have 2 kids in 3rd row and one currently in second row. Oldest go in back because they can generally buckle themselves in(my oldest is almost 7 and in a 5 point harness). I typically am not the one driving around with all kids in my car unless it's to a doctors appt.
We have family pictures yesterday that started off with my oldest stepping on a yellow jacket nest. All but the youngest of us got stung once or twice before we got everyone away. Took a while and some bribing with candy before we were able to regroup and get pictures. Now my hand is swollen, achy, and just starting to itch. Good thing the pictures turned out great so far.
Might I add their premium package we initially were signed up to get ended up not having Nickjr ,Disneyjr, AMC, FX or MTV. When I signed up the woman told me those were included- yea well apparently not in our area. Crazy! I guess this was more of a Monday post lol but here it is in randoms.
@scottipino I'm glad I'm not the only one with a kiddo that age still in a 5pt!!! DD is 6.5 but she just recently hit 40lbs so I want to keep her in it for a loooong time!
