@LakeR2014You are not alone! I use it intentionally sometimes and it unintentionally happens all of the time.
My TMI is that while yes, I have struggled with constipation during pregnancy, I more often feel like the baby helps me poop way more than I have have before! For example, I used to NEVER go in a public restroom. I would endure horrible belly aches and cramps at work and wait until the end of the day to go home and relieve myself. However since becoming pregnant, I find I get diarrhea more often than not or I can no longer endure the belly aches and I have to go wherever I am at. I am actually quite grateful as it has helped me conquer my fear of pooping in public and now I get to feel way more comfortable most days since I just give in and go wherever I am at. I suspect I have irritable bowel syndrome that this pregnancy has intensified but either way, I go almost twice a day now when it used to be once a day if lucky or more like 3-4 times a week only.
Married: 3/21/15 First time mom to a human but have been a puppy mamma for over 12 years
@camichael84 Sorry to hear you didn't get the results you were hoping for! I really, really hope that you find it all easier to manage than you're fearing!
@RG1 Happy to hear you didn't have a hernia - especially one so serious that tissue was already dying! I hope the pain management plan they have you on gets you through this so you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!
@PSUBecky23 My company stopped doing formal reviews a few years ago. At first, it was kind of glorious (no year end or mid-year evaluations, meetings with higher-ups, etc) but then I realized that no there's really no way to get feedback, either! (They did put a feedback tool in place but no one uses it like they should.) Good luck writing your evaluation and with the actual review. I hope you get stellar feedback and a big raise/bonus! (Haha...that would be a snide joke in my company...but I hear there are others out there that actually work that way and I hope yours is one of them!)
Bonus/raise is year-end. Mid-year is for...no idea? And fortunately, I have a very hands-on boss who is constantly giving me feedback. So the formal reviews are just an unnecessary pain.
@LakeR2014 - I drink coffee a few days a week. About 30% of the time it's because I need a little caffeine to focus my brain, 100% of the time it's because I want to poop. There's no shame in that.
My random for the day is strikingly similar to @AnnaS930's...
Friday, the day before our giant annual BBQ, I cleaned out our fridge to make room for the party food/drinks/etc. I had the doors open for a bit so a while later, when the fridge alarm sounded due to high internal temperature, we didn't think much of it... Fast forward to 9pm and it still hadn't reached an appropriate temperature, we realized we had a problem.
The service place associated with where we bought the fridge (only 14 months ago, I might add!) wasn't able to schedule service for us until today but had noooo problem wasting an hour of my time Friday night trying to sell me extended appliance warranties and sign-ups for estimates on other services like siding, windows, countertops, etc. Seriously? Forget all of that - can we just get our fridge fixed?
So, the morning of the party, we bought a mini fridge and an extra cooler and LOTS of ice and made it through the party the best we could. (The BBQ turned out great, I might add, so a win there!)
The technician is at our house now, with DH. I can't wait to see what this costs us...for a 14-month old fridge. (I know I already mentioned that...just so annoyed that it's still basically "new" but of course not new enough to fall under the 12-month warranty.) Gah!
@AnnaS930 I FINALLY got fiance to decide on a boy's name! He said he likes Everett. I remember you saying you were between Emmett and Everett with your son and ultimately went with Emmett. Emmett is on our boy name list as well. Just curious what made you end up deciding on Emmett.
@Sbrown721 - I left those 2 names up to my husband and he went with Emmett.. he's a huge Cowboys fan and actually always liked the named Emmett because of being an Emmitt Smith fan growing up. I was leaning a bit more towards Everett because I really like the nickname Rhett... But I think mentioning that nickname is what pushed husband 100% to Emmett, he did not care for Rhett at all (Sorry husband, maybe you should read Gone with the Wind).
So a bit of mixed reasonings but the basic answer is - My husband preferred Emmett. I can't picture my son as anything but Emmett now, but I still absolutely adore both names.
Edited to add: we kept the name a secret and when I mentioned considering Everett as well my dad said it was his grandfather's middle name.. I NEVER KNEW!! Missed opportunity right there...
@JennM205 sorry about your fridge problems. What a pain. We do a giant annual BBQ too! Just sent out the FB invite last night. I'll be 35 weeks, I think. Should be interesting.
@JennM205 - Oh man, I am so sorry to share the miserable fridge no longer a fridge experience with you! We have a technician coming out tomorrow, but fully ready for the news that we have to buy a new fridge. Luckily a very similar LG fridge to ours is only $1300... thankfully it wasn't a $5K fridge or anything. And I was surprised because it's only 5 or 6 years old.. 14 months is a real gut punch! Practically new, but just passed the warranty.. the worst.
@blondie080300 I was exactly the same way about pooping in public when I was younger. Had my gull bladder out about 6.5 years ago, and it got me over the fear of public pooping. Just having it out can cause bowel problems, but I also suspect I have IBS. I agree I'm a more comfortable person now that I go when I need to. It has also helped with the times I've dealt with constipation this pregnancy. I'll go right away if I feel the urge, no matter where I am, instead of holding it in and potentially making constipation worse.
@JennM205 Sorry to hear about your 14 month old refrigerator crapping out (you're right... that's too soon! I'd be pissed, too). But glad to hear your BBQ went well!
Not to brag, but I haven't had to do a single self-evaluation since I was hired 4 years ago... And I've never had an employer one either... but I still get an annual 2-4% raise and I haven't been fired yet, so I'm going to assume I'm doing all right
Anyway. Saturday was my birthday - yay! Except it turned out to be a roller coaster of mood swings and feelings and just ugh.
We went up north to Duluth, MN, which is a cool little lakeside city, with about 10 really good friends, but for some reason I was riding the pregnancy hormone roller-coaster and couldn't 100% enjoy the trip. The weather was all over the place - from perfect sunshine and temps, to a little cloudy, to full on severe storming, and my friends were also all over the place. The whole day revolved around drinking and sampling from various local breweries, which obviously I can't participate in. Normally, it doesn't bother me to tag along to brewery crawls, or be around people in total party mode when I can't drink, but like I said, I was riding a mood swing roller coaster so for one second I was totally cool with everything and then one second later I'd be all grumpy or angry or sad. I tried to reign in the crazy, and I think I did for the most part, but overall, I left the weekend feeling grumpy and not satisfied about anything.
My moods are usually so even keeled and I'm just not accustomed to mood swings at all so when they happen I just feel like I can't deal! I would seriously be laughing my heart out with joy one second and ready to bawl because I was feeling lonely or isolated the next.... I felt a bit like this in the first tri too, but I also slept through most of the first trimester. Is anyone else feeling especially moody lately? Any tips on how to make it better?! I'm not sure how I'll be able to do 12 more weeks of crazy drop of the hat mood swings!
@blondie080300 - I used to be pretty private about pooping in public but I have IBS and when you gotta go, you gotta go. It's so much easier mentally when there's no stopping it, you don't have time to think about waiting until the end of the day or a better time, you just gotta go. Everybody poops.
@PSUBecky23 With a boss that gives regular feedback and a process that doesn't result in any financial benefits until year end... Yeah, what is the mid-year even for then!? Good luck - maybe you can bs it just enough to get it done without too much effort.
@PoodleDoodleOoo Happy Belated Birthday!!! I'm sorry it wasn't what you had hoped it would be, but I can absolutely relate to how you've been feeling! I haven't been a crying mess just yet, but I have been happy one minute and so tired and emotional the next. I feel like the ultimate space cadet since hitting third tri. I'm just in a fog.
@PoodleDoodleOoo - perhaps it was just worsened because it was your birthday? I find that when pregnant if I get my hopes up really high for something/anticipate something for a long time - I have a really hard time if that event doesn't live up to my hype and don't cope with the disappointment as well as I normally would. Hang in there if this isn't the norm for you and hopefully it won't be so harsh moving forward. Also, I'd mention it to your significant other if you haven't already, just give him a heads up about how up and down you feel so he can be extra attentive and try to life your spirits if you're feeling blue (also it will give him a warning if you're bawling seconds after laughing). You're not alone!!
@PoodleDoodleOoo Happy belated birthday! Sorry to hear your emotions were all out of whack for your birthday weekend...but I have no stellar advice. Sometimes, when I'm feeling emotional (especially for a reason I can tell is irrational and most likely hormone-related), I just tell my DH. Like, "I'm trying really hard to be a big girl right now because I know how I'm feeling is silly but xyz is really bugging me and I kind of just want to cry and take a nap right now." I don't expect him to do or say anything, it just feels good to say it out loud and then try to move on.
Side note: Your company sounds lovely and very brag-worthy with that raise and lack of eval structure...I'm officially jealous!
Wore my under-the-belly jeans for an hour this morning and realized they now belong in the "can't wear this comfortably" pile. not gonna be too much use pp with a c-section either. The number of clothing items I can wear comfortably between the belly and the heat is dwindling and I am sad. I don't want to buy more stuff at this stage in the game!
I'm headed to my PCP this afternoon. The chest cold has now moved to my ears and I want to get a jump on any potential ear infections. I have felt like crap since Wednesday and the Robitussin DM that my OB approved isn't doing much...
@Sporty1216 I was just dealing with your situation this morning! I take a weekly bump picture and I try to switch up my outfits so that I'm not wearing the same thing in all of the weekly pictures...I only have about 5 outfits to choose from at this point. I will be 30 weeks on Friday and hate the idea of buying more clothes, but I seriously wear the same things all the time!
@PoodleDoodleOoo - Happy belated birthday. I wish you had been able to enjoy Duluth more (cue homesickness! lol). I don't think you're alone on the emotionally roller coaster though. While I don't feel like I'm as bad as I was in the first tri, I'm definitely up and down right now. One minute, I'm all lovey dovey with DH and I want nothing more than for him to be with me at all times. The next minute? He's annoyed me in some stupid way and I don't want to talk to him. The littlest things are getting on my nerves and I can cry at the drop of a dime. I'm all for hibernation the closer I get to the end of this pregnancy.
@PoodleDoodleOoo Happy belated birthday! I think I would have felt the same if I'd been in your situation. It had to be hard watching everyone else drink for your birthday while you couldn't participate.
I turned 30 when I was pregnant for my first. I was planning on a big party, figuring I'd be happy even if I was the only one not drinking. Luckily, we did a 4th of July party at our house beforehand, and I realized that kind of party was actually not what I wanted. I think your moods (in this particular situation) were normal and warranted. I don't have much advice on how to handle them when they arise, though. My pregnancy moodiness is akin to my PMS moodiness, and I just ride it out until it's over and pray my husband doesn't get sick of me.
Re: we have mid year reviews coming up too. We have to set goals at the beginning of the year, which is so hard because with my job, it's really difficult to say what I will be doing 10 months from now. I've been working really hard to constantly make notes in my goal profile about what I've done this year and all the projects/successes I've had. I really, really want to get promoted this year, and I think I'm deserving. The unfortunate thing is that there are others on my team that also deserve to get promoted and with oil and gas prices so low, we are very limited on how many promotions our boss can give. However, my friend that you guys all love has been told she will be promoted...but that's a story I'll be saving for you kids to read on TW Tuesday
@UnwritteN12 did you have any symptoms when you were diagnosed with pneumonia? I am so short of breath at night when I get up to pee, and first thing in the morning. I can only breathe in so far before my chest tickles to the point that I'm coughing. It's kind of like breathing in super, super cold air. And then as te morning goes on, I can breathe in more and more and more until it's almost normal. But still, all day it's like I can't breathe in as deeply as normal. Is that normal?? lol Dr. UnwritteN12.
I had my final a/s us today. 3 times the charm! Baby is looking good and he's head down now! Hopefully he stays that way. It's funny that part of him takes him the whole screen now because he has gotten so much bigger. I never had an us past 20 weeks with my first and I'll be 28 weeks tomorrow.
We have mid and end of year reviews based on goals we have to make for ourselves. One has to be student based, one teacher based. Both are equally annoying and time consuming which takes time away from the things that are more important, like lesson planning and teaching!? But I digress...
In regards to public pooping, a runner once taught me a trick. Layer the water with tp before you poo, if possible, and no sounds will be had! It works like a charm.
I'm off to take a nap. DS1 fell asleep in the ride home from being out and about thankfully and I'm so tired. I miss being able to starfish though
I'm going to burst. I will be 30 weeks on Friday. I need to get blood work done this week and was going to get my Tdap vaccine along with it. Fiance is anti-vaccine and so I am having to postpone my appointment until he decides to figure it out and be ok with vaccines!

What kind of wizardry is this?? I will definitely try it!
Im tired of the girls in my group having a poop standoff. When two people are both trying to poop and waiting for the other to leave before they will actually poop? Just freaking fart, girls. We all poop. Everybody poops.

Not his body, not his choice. And there is literally no valid, scientifically proven reason whatsoever to be anti-vaccine. Sorrynotsorry, I have a really hard time with that mentality.
@diagonalley - oh yes, definitely have to put down a layer of tp.. just try to lay it flat. It gets rid of 90% Of the splash sound.. I ALWAYSSS do this. It also gets rid of the actual backsplash which is so yucky especially in public bathrooms.
@AmMcc12 Sorry to hear you're not getting any better! I really hope your doctor can find something that helps you out and has you on the mend in no time!
@Sporty1216 I'm in the same boat with clothes...my options are seriously dwindling and I just cannot justify buying more stuff this late in the game! I did, however, find a really cute sundress at Old Navy last week. It was $40 which was more than I was hoping to spend but I wanted something for our BBQ and - bonus! - am also planning on wearing it to two (informal) weddings this month! One win among several clothing "losses"...but I'll take it!

TMI time, but it's not the sounds in the toilet that embarrassed me about public pooping. Unless this somehow eliminates all sounds? And smells?
@camichael84 - It's TP.. it's not a miracle! hahahaha, agreed that the bodily sounds of pooping are also less than desirable.. but for those times that it's just a basic, straight forward, formed poop, the TP is a great trick.
Oh, and speaking of pregnancy hormones and being on an emotional roller-coaster...
I'm a mess at work today. I have a serious case of the Mondays! This new, huge project is stressing me out and nothing seems to be going to plan today. On top of it, I asked a few different people across the organization for what I thought were very simple requests - but keep getting emails back on each request saying they don't know what I'm talking about or can't provide what I'm asking for. Am I speaking a foreign language? (Seriously. For a second, I had to re-read my requests to make sure I was making sense and that pregnancy brain hadn't jumbled something up.) Trying to laugh it all off and try to get something accomplished.
I'm having a wonderful day. I feel fantastic and Im in this great place in my pregnancy where I'm really enjoying it. And I got 20% my mascara at target! Woot woot!
@MrsVoorhees - Oh yuck. I would go in and get checked out just in case. Mine started out as allergies/sinus infection/cold stuff and then moved into my chest. I was short of breath (more so than usual with the babies crowding my insides) and coughing constantly. And I was definitely coughing up nasty green stuff. Keep an eye on your temp too. I hope you feel better soon!!
Oh my! 60 posts
since I was up reading the thread at 3 am PST.
Thanks, insomnia!
@JennM205 I may need to steal that and try it with
DH. I’m finding I’m getting more
emotional and having a little less patience each day
@Sporty1216 what about yoga pants/capris? I bought several pairs of stretchy black
capris and they had better make it through a possible RCS. If not, well then its pj pants. My “don’t give a damn” is creeping up
@AmMcc12 I’m sorry you’re still dealing with that. Hope they give you something more powerful and
that you feel better soon!
Baby Boy had me so worried these past few days. There was considerably less movement Friday,
Saturday, and Sunday, even with the elective ultrasound we had done on
Saturday. I managed to get myself worked
up yesterday when he was quiet even after meals and especially after my
middle-of-the-night snacking at 3 am. He
usually gets wild with food but I was getting maybe 3 or 4 light kicks…truthfully,
I wasn’t convinced they were from him and not gas. I decided I was going to call my doctor’s
office when they opened this morning. He,
however, had other plans. He kicked me at
least 5 times on the way to work and he’s been doing karate chops since I’ve
been sitting at my desk. That’s not nice
to scare mommy like this, little boy!
@ajn092 - glad he perked up for you! Sitting at my desk can be so uncomfortable. I prop my feet up so that my legs are pretty much straight to keep my feet/ankles from ballooning.. but that position, leaning forward to type makes a lot of the movements suuuuper uncomfortable. I just laughed out loud thinking of how this is all going to go in the next 10 weeks, though I've done this before, I feel quite a bit larger (and hotter.. different season) this time around.
Also.. this baby feels like he's trying to expand my ribs. I don't feel like he's particularly high or low, but the huge movements are all up high and my ribs are so achy lately
And more for randoms.. I always fill my hydroflask with ice and just keep topping it off with water all day at work. I am obsessed with my drinks being as close to frozen as possible. With no fridge/ice maker at home I have zero ice. I haven't had nearly as much water as usual today because it just isn't as good when semi-cold. I walked to our caf to buy a cold drink.. ended up with a gingerale and doritos... because those are what I needed, right?
Work has been so hectic the past week that I have been awful about commenting on here! I managed to catch up on reading anything, but can't remember anything I wanted to say (thanks pregnancy brain!). My random, I went to the dentist for fillings this morning, and 4+ hours later my mouth is still numb. I've never had it last this long before and it's driving me bonkers.
@MrsVoorhees - do we get the coworker story tomorrow? Or a future Tuesday.. I mean some of us have 10 or fewer Tuesdays left and I can't wait to hear how little miss entitled already knows she's getting a raise!!
@AnnaS930 yes on almost frozen drinks!!! I hate when someone gives me a bottle of water to drink and it's room temp. My husband drinks from a gallon jug while he drives around and it's always room temp or warm. So, so gross.
