I second @sbrown721 with the documentation. Pictures pictures pictures! If firing them isn't an option, is there someone that manages them that you can go to? That just sounds absolutely ridiculous and you definitely shouldn't put up with it!
@seitzy3 I think that's probably going to be our next step. I just fear firing them and then not being able to find another company on very short notice to finish the few rooms that are left. I feel like I'm stuck between impossible situations here since most of the painting companies in our area are booked solid.
@camichael84 We're definitely going to be talking to someone higher up today if possible.
I agree. We we would have done it ourselves, but painting has always caused huge blowouts in our family and we were trying to save our sanity (and get a nice job done at the same time). Now I'm thinking that would have been better than the massive fail that this is turning into.
@MojieJo Don't get me wrong, if we were repainting the entire house, I'd hire someone for sure. I honestly would have loved to do it for any of the painting we've done just because I know a professional could do a better job than we can. Or at least, they should be able to. I guess that's what bothers me the most about what is happening to you. When you hire someone, you expect professional results. I hope you get something figured out, and that it gets better.
@Steephers123@camichael84 Swear by our Ninja as well!! Excellent blender without costing us an arm and a leg (like the Vitamix of Blendtec). What a joke right, the baby blender? When all you have to use is a real one or food processor?
We are a household of two and love Costco!! Not only do they now have a huge selection of organic foods and meats, they sell paleo-friendly ingredients, quality liquor for cheaper than BevMo, and kids clothes too! Their sales make having a card worth it.
@MojieJo Give an honest Yelp review after company is fired and your keys etcetera have been returned. Ugh, sucks that you're almost done but not quite..
@camichael84 Thank you. That's exactly my issue. I was expecting professional results and behavior and we're not getting either.
The sad part is we tried to interview three (I think?) other companies before these guys. One never called us back at all, one called back once and then couldn't be reached again and the third set up two consultation appointments and never showed up to either (and then called us five or six times a day wanting to set up another appointment).
UnwritteN12 I'm sorry but the tech was a dick. I know you know that ultrasound estimates can be off so I would keep that in mind. But, really (and I hope this doesn't sound insensitive), I think you're amazing and completely blessed to be able to carry twins (and twice!) so successfully. Nobody ever wants a preemie, much less twin preemies, but it's not the norm to see a mom successfully carrying twins to 37w5d and having them growing so well and thriving in a second twin pregnancy adds even more amazingness to it. I'd be so proud of myself if I could say that they're growing so much! There is risk, of course, but we'll keep praying and hoping that they stay put and continue growing until your cesarean. About 6 more weeks, right? Let's do this!
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom - Yep, right about 6 weeks. I appreciate your point of view and you (and everyone on here) are absolutely right. I'm very blessed to be able to do this. The initial panic struck hard. But you guys are awesome at knowing the right things to say to bring things back into perspective!
The NP at my appointment confirmed my suspicion that baby's head down. From what I've been feeling (really hard kicks/punches up high and rolling and pressure down low) I thought she might be since a few weeks ago but I never really knew since you never know exactly what body part is poking where. She said she should stay this way from now on so I hope that's the case. IDK why I'm so excited about this.
Andplusalso, I lost 4lbs, whaaat? For those keeping score, I did go #2 yesterday and I still had those 4lbs at a different appointment on Tuesday so I'm not 100% convinced those pounds weren't what I flushed.

Haha most likely 4 lbs of poop! I was constipated the week before an appointment once and I really wanted to go beforehand cause I thought it would add an extra 5 lbs on. That's how plugged up I felt! Had a cup of coffee and that did the trick
Jesus...I just found a 2+ inch long spot and a smaller dime sized spot of dark violet paint on the brand new nursery carpet.
And more purple paint on the baseboards.
I could cry about the carpet. Even if, by some miracle, we can get them to pay to replace it, we're going to have to wait for the flooring place to order it and install it (meaning we'll have to wait God only knows how much longer to get the nursery ready) and it won't be continuous with the rest of the upstairs.
I'm pissed off in general, but of all the rooms to get paint on the carpet in, it had to be the nursery.
@MojieJo Omg I want to cry for you. So ridiculous. I'm so sorry that's happening! We had a terrible experience with movers once and I called the manager of the company and was able to get some money back. Agree with PPs to take pics to document and then get your raging pregnant lady on and see if there's someone you can complain to. I know getting money off won't necessarily fix the problems, but definitely ask for them to replace the carpet.
@MojieJo that is terrible. Does this company have a Facebook/Yelp/any other pages? I would take pictures and plaster them all over the Internet along with a review. I hope they replace the carpet. Haven't they ever heard of putting plastic down? Wtf
@UnwritteN12 I'm sorry you're having to worry about this! I hope everything turns out fine!
@MojieJo Yeah, fire them! You hired them so you don't have to deal with this annoying stuff by painting it yourself, there are better painters out there!
i started feeling really crappy today, turns out I have strep. Second time this pregnancy! Yay!
I sold our random car today! Yes we are rednecks (no offense to our kind) had more cars than drivers parked outside our house, but no more! First thing hubby says "now we can buy a fridge" The cycle continues
Ahh poop talk, it's been a while. I was constipated all week and this morning I drove to the grocery store to use their bathrooms but I don't trust our old work bathroom!

1. Why the F are dogs so nasty? I walked outback to clean up stuff from our pool day today and they got into our diaper trash can and just decided to have a field day ...of course with the shitty diapers.
2. hell just froze over because both my kids are in bed by 7pm. 3yo passed the heck out on the couch at 615 and I put her upstairs and she didn't wake up. Naturally, I've been upstairs 3 times in the hour checking on her because it's so rare that she is ever THAT tired. I guess a 1030 bedtime last night plus two night wake up calls and a day in the sun will do that to a gal.
I don't know what to do with myself! Online shopping? Netflix? Make some chocolate chip pancakes? The options are endless
That painter situation sounds completely awful @mojiejo wow! So unprofessional! By the sounds of it they aren't using drop cloths or anything?? I would be fuming too. The whole point of hiring a professional is to get a professional job. My dad recently had his deck redone and it was a nightmare too. Looks terrible. The people behaved the same way - didn't really finish the job even. What is with these contractors these days?? I really hope you're able to come to a resolution quickly on this!
Thanks, everyone. We're getting blown off by the painters right now (on top of everything else, they want to charge us extra for the additional days the job is taking them, even though it's their fault they quoted four days and are taking longer, get paid and then reschedule for some undetermined point in the future to finish the house--seriously, WTF?), but we're trying to see if we can get them to pay to somehow fix the carpet.
We talked to the flooring people, who gave us some suggestions about how to try to get the paint out of the carpet, but nothing's worked so far. Right now it's looking like we may have to cut up a portion of the carpet and patch it.
And to top it off, this was a $13/14k flooring job (for the whole house) that's been damaged within a week of being done, through their stupidity.
I'm not sure about Yelp or Facebook, but I'll look into them. They got a very nasty voicemail from us today and closed early for reasons unknown, so we haven't talked to them directly.
This whole thing is a disaster. We've waited 20 years (since our house was built--my parents bought it when I started high school) to get the walls painted and floors replaced and now all this.
@mojiejo have you looked for tips on Pinterest for removing the paint? I don't know of anything off the top of my head but I always go there to check for home remedies. Trying a spot, especially if you have to cut up the square anyways, wouldn't hurt. We recently bought some paint remover to attempt to remove paint from wood trim. I don't know if it works on carpet too - try Home Depot. I'm still appalled they can't paint within the lines. Seriously!?
@rock1cherry I did some general searching and got some ideas, but we're not going to try anything too drastic until we settle this with the painters or at least get a good idea of where we're heading with this.
I'm just so unbelievably pissed off right now. I can't believe this is happening. I know it's just carpet and wood trim, but this is so ridiculous that I'm absolutely livid.
They need to replace the carpet in my opinion. But if they won't and you have to patch it (ugh not fair!) then try something in a chance it will work. You shouldn't have to...but they sound like real winners.
@redmar Completely agreed, but the way this is going, I don't see it happening. These people are complete asshats.
@rock1cherry We're going to try something before patching it, but we want to see what they're willing and not willing to do about fixing the problem first, just to make sure that they don't try and weasel out of fixing it because we "made it better" (even by a little) or, God forbid, make it worse trying to fix it.
Oh myyyy goodness. I run an outdoor bootcamp two mornings per week, and lately I haven't been doing the workout with the ladies (I do it on my own beforehand to test it out, but don't want to be a sweaty mess during class). Well yesterday I decided to do it with them because it was a super fun workout, and I think I pushed a little too much! Hello pelvic pain, nice to see you again! Looks like I'll be laying super low today. After my appt and GD testing, that is
@KimmySchmidt we'll be painting our new condo when we hopefully move in a month. Already dreading it, but can't justify the added cost of hiring out! We did just help a friend paint their new house so they'll come help us too-- that should help a little!
@kosmo86 I had to start eating prunes and now drink a ton more water. It really did help.
I eat prunes every day and drink a ton of water I also take a fiber supplement. They definitely help! I had issues with constipation before I was pregnant so now it's just worse!!
