Lol normally! But he's on a strict diet and today is day 1
  • @UnwritteN12 I had some severe pain about 10 days ago but it was on the left side on my chest and I was in tears, could barely breathe, walk or even move! Lying down at the doctor's office was the WORST and it was unbearable. But my OB checked everywhere and pressed all over my stomach, chest and back. Before he examined me he was thinking it could be a blood clot and then determined it was muscular. He was right (although the only time I'd felt pain like that was after surgery and I was skeptical) but he was very, very thorough. Is your pain in your abdomen? I'm with you in feeling like that doctor really should have taken more time and done more. Can you call your OB and tell them what happened to see if they might have a next step?

@UnwritteN12 When I had appendicitis, I had pain in my "lower right quadrant" right on the side of my bump near my hip bone. But I also had pain radiating up into my chest (right beneath my boobs was all swollen and hurt when the doctor pressed), and was throwing up. Apparently I was "classic case" appendicitis and when I looked it up after, you'd think I googled the symptoms cause they were spot on. Not to say it isn't this or something else major that the NP or doc definitely should have been more thorough - but perhaps easing your mind if you don't have those other symptoms that it may not be appendicitis if you were worried.

  • Anyone watch Catastrophe on amazon? I watched episode 1 tonight while on the elliptical (can ya tell I have an appointment this week?? Hahaha I'm that girl that girl that works out for a few days before each one)... the pregnancy references hit right on, pretty funny!

  • @AnnaS930 no but I just saw it on the list the other day, will have to try it if it's funny and about prego people! And good for you for working out during.
  • @AnnaS930 Yes! I binged watched the 12 episodes a few weeks ago. I laughed A LOT! I already can't wait for another season and hopefully more episodes.

@UnwritteN12 not saying your doctor shouldn't have been a little bit more thorough, but just to ease your mind a little bit, a muscle strain can be VERY painful, particularly in the abdomen. It would also hurt in one spot, rather than being sore all over. Rest up and I hope you feel better! Definitely go back if it gets worse or you develop new symptoms.
  • @AnnaS930 yes! DH and I watched it and laughed out loud so much. Too bad the seasons are so short and only two of them.

  • @blondie080300 - What a great name!!!

@AlwaysAuntNeverMom and @LizC216 - It's such a good show for me on the elliptical, but I think my husband would enjoy it too... I'll recommend he watch it alone, or I'll rewatch it with him. Glad to hear other episodes are also good, I think my favorite part of the first episode is the conversation the men have during the dinner date.. the other husband is hilarious about the birth experience, had me laughing out loud. I also like the loony woman with her essential oils, etc.. hits a lot of great stereotypes!

  • @AnnaS930 Well, now I wish I would have just dug in to the cake at the grocery store. The visualization you painted is enough reason alone.

Also, I've been mentally planning McKenna's birthday party, too. Since Layla will only be about a week old, it's going to have to be low key with just immediate family (still 15 people). I think as long as I get everything bought and ready before I give birth, it'll go well. I hope.

    @RedMar Those cupcakes are adorable!

@UnwritteN12 I hope you get a second opinion. If nothing else than for your own piece of mind.

Regarding baby's position, with my first she went head down somewhere between 19 and 23 weeks and stayed that way until she was born. This one was head down at the 20 and 24 week appts, but it feels like she's moved and has been both feet down and transverse in the last couple weeks. I'm curious if the OB can tell me next week what position she thinks she's in.

  • @AnnaS930 You've convinced me to watch Catastrophe. We need something to watch at night before bed.

  • I have another cold, 2nd time in 2 months. SIGH! I feel like a ZOMBIE!!!! I have so much work to do and can't focus but at least I am home!!!

  • @AmMcc12 Assume the "Bed starfish" pose ... actually as I'm typing that I'm realizing that you definitely won't be on your belly all sprawled out, and probably won't be on your back all sprawled out for long... so perhaps no starfish, but hopefully a little more spread out regardless!

  • @AmMcc12 grab all the pillows in the house and make a bed pillow fort!   It'll be cloudy, cushion-y, awesomeness!!!
  • I did some of the exercises that the spinning babies website recommends, last night. Obviously no idea if baby is in fact breach/transverse but I figure it can't hurt. They're all exercises that are good to help prepare for labor.

  • I am interested about this transverse business. I believe at my follow up
ultrasound they said the head was to my right, that was at 22 weeks. Is there a way I can tell if the baby has turned head down?
  • @AnnaS930 it's more of a modified starfish
@LakeR2014 absolutely had my pregnancy pillow and two extras

  • @Thscary - I can never tell what position the baby is in.. most of my movements are at the top of my stomach, but is that his legs or his head? no clue.  The OB can usually tell around this point by feeling your belly

  • @Thscary I was told that by my week 28 appointment my midwife would be able to tell body parts by feeling around. I asked her if I or my fiance would be able to figure it out on our own by week 28 and she sounded doubtful. Can't wait until next week to find out if baby is breech or not!
  • @Jabreen I have felt 0 movement above my navel and he has been head down since my A/S scan. I swear he flips around just for the ultrasounds or something because I only feel lower movement

  • My LO was breech at my us 2 weeks ago. I've always felt him move pretty low, too, so that makes sense now. It seems like there's more movement higher up so here's hoping, even though I know there's still plenty of time for him to go back and forth.

  • I feel movement very low and above my navel. Not sure what that means! I can't differentiate between punches and kicks.
  • @Thscary - With my son, I wasn't really able to tell position until the last month of pregnancy. I was able to feel 2 solid bumps and the doctor said that the lower one was the head and the higher one was the body. At this point in pregnancy, the baby can still move quite a bit so it isn't too worthwhile to get concerned about position.  My son stayed transverse for a long time until he got too big (which too a while since I do have a large frame).  He eventually got positioned head down, but it was never centered - not even when I went into labor. I am pretty sure that this baby is still transverse.

  • i feel the most movement in the lower area also. i honestly feel like shes laying sideways in there. I always feel movement in lower right area and about belly-button-ish height on my left side. my SO said shes doing her yoga. i was like yeah sounds about right.
  • I was doing a workout last night and noticed that I have triangle belly again. When leaning backwards or laying on my back, if I use my abs to lift my legs.. my belly turns into a teepee shape.  I remember it from last time, but it still weird me out.  Also - tightening/contractions after orgasms make my bump incredibly lop-sided to the right, which is where I feel most movements. Sorry little man, don't mean to squish ya so much!

My sister and I were talking with my mom about what to do for Father's day so my mom sent my dad an email saying "The kids are wondering what you want to do to for Father's Day... They are thinking BBQ...." And I don't know why but it just hit me in the heart (in a good way!). Pretty soon I'll have my own "kid" to talk about it!

Also, it weirdly felt nice to be called a "kid." I'm sick of hard-core adulting and nothing makes you adult harder than planning for a child.

ETA @Blondie080300 - LOVE the name!!!!
  • @LakeR2014 YAY! So glad to hear it!
  • My OB said baby was head down at my last appointment - around 28 weeks.  But I think baby is still moving around quite a bit.  There are times when he or she stretches out and my belly becomes a horizontal orb (for lack of a better description).  Definitely butt on one side...but on the other?  Feet (where the head would still be down)?  Head?  Who knows...  What I can say, though, is that baby seems to enjoy doing this but Mommy finds it quite uncomfortable, haha!

  • @PSUBecky23 I lived on spinning babies at the end of my last pregnancy! Unfortunately, didn't find out she was still breech until an US at 37w, multiple mw and docs saw between AS and then mistook head for bum. Found SB then. Wish I'd started the exercises earlier, the yoga poses were kind of relaxing. I did do the crazy upside down on couch thing with frozen peas on her head. Felt silly but at least like I was trying!
  • I was getting a lot of high kicks. I do still occasionally, but I'm also getting a lot of kicks or punches really low down (bottom of ute, bladder, cervix). I never felt DD1 that low once she started getting bigger, which is what made me think she might have flipped. And I've had a a few nights where I've felt and saw big movements on the far left side and far right side of my bump at the same time. I guess she could have been kicking all spread eagle, but that was what led me to believe she might have been transverse. I'm not too worried about position yet, just curious!

  • @abberson I'm all about being as proactive as possible! I figure even if I don't know if baby is breach, it can't hurt. Although my husband walked in on me hanging off the couch last night and enjoyed the jokes at my expense.
