Re: June Randoms Thread

  • @AnnaS930 we bought the contours options stroller. I was concerned about the size of the seats for my 2yo, but she seems to find it comfortable enough! The big basket is AWESOME. You can fit a bunch of stuff in there. The only downside is we bought ours second hand, and it doesn't have cupholders! Sad.

  • At my 28w appointment. Just got tdap, rhogam in the ass, drank the glucola, and now waiting for my blood draw. Lots of needles today apparently.
  • @marikkita12 mine too :( they went about halfway back to normal
last time but were never really the same. This DD is lucky, I used to have flat nipples but DD1 took care of that and now they're projected all the days.
  • As far as a will, we intentionally don't have one for our kids. My family and DH's family get along really well, and we would be comfortable with any sibling or parents take guardianship. We figure it's going to depend on circumstances when something would happen to us. My parents are first choice right now, but 10yrs from now, someone else may be in a better position to care for them. They're all very rational, so we're confident they will work out what's best for the kids.
  • Some people at work were joking about "pepperoni nipples" this week. I just sat there all sad, thinking, "if they only knew mine were bigger than that. Lol I have big boobs though so they don't look too bad...or maybe I don't realize they do??? DH has never said anything, I would be devastated if he did, you can't change that!
  • H came home and put up some new panels so fx that works
  • My OB office is right across from PBK. These appointments are getting spendy, especially now that I'm on bi-weekly!
  • Hi ladies!!! :) I just wanted to pop in since it is the beginning of June and I only had 7 pages to get through to get caught up this month. Lol. I hope you are all doing well! My life has only sped up since April/May and there are no signs that it will slow down any time soon. I was in Denver last week, Kansas City this week, Chicago next and then D.C. (all for work). It kinda sucks, not gonna lie. I really miss just focusing on planning for baby so I am hoping to stop traveling in July and keep my feet up as much as possible! The vericose veins have made an appearance and my belly hurts when I stand too long. But boy oh boy is this little boy moving and kicking a lot! :)

Anyways, I just wanted to wish you all well as we enter our 7th month of pregnancy and I hope to have more time to check in more!
I had been wondering how you were! Glad to hear you're well :) I've been slacking on here too- life seems to get in the way over here too and I just can't keep up!

  • Went to the casino for the first time today!
I only played with the 20$ they give you for playing the first time and I ended up winning about 30$
Of course I put it back in and ended up losing it all but I had fun :)

HOLY HELL... I'm in the same spot trying to catch up!! Between the hectic close of the school year and someone selling me a shit phone, I have had no opportunities to log on (only at night when I'm super exhausted).

It's really funny the nipple convo came up as that was what I put on the "embarrassing moments of pregnancy" thread.

Regarding breastfeeding, baby is supposed to open their mouth as vertical as possible to latch on. If they're pursing their lips, it's not a good latch and will result in a lot of pain on your end!

For those who remember, a while back I posted about one of my students being hit by a drunk driver while riding his bike. I FINALLY saw him today (after a month or so since the accident) when he came in to get some back work and study material for finals. He's in such good spirits considering what happened to him, but I couldn't get passed his frail body, road burnt skin and shattered leg (he's in a wheel chair). He's hoping the second surgery will save his leg, but there's a possibility of him losing it :(. I have to keep thinking that he's so lucky to be alive and that the driver is getting fined ridiculous amounts for this (and I'm sure he feels awful). It's so hard seeing my student go through this- hoping all goes well with physical therapy and future operations.
  • @RedMar oh my god :( I'm so sad to hear that he could lose his leg. I'd been thinking about your student actually.
Seriously hoping everything goes well for him

  • Checked into hotel. Little man slept the 4+ hours over, woke when we got here a day wanted to party. I read him some books and tried putting him down, he yelled. Snuggled some more and got his light up giraffe going, it's been silence for a few minutes, fingers crossed (afraid to go check!)

  • @pilotswifey Aw, I'm glad you have those great memories of her helping with DS1. And props to getting things done on your own this time around. What kinds of gear did you get for LO?

@camichael84 wow, hadn't ever thought to expose our 'fraidy cat dog to the stroller. He freaks out when I try and carry the recycling and trash bags out during the same time as his walk.
  • RedMarRedMar member
Taking ds and the dog on a walk by myself has never happened. I've attempted it but she is such a freak show and tries to herd the stroller/constantly be in the lead that it's a total disaster.
  • @RedMar - I'm really glad to hear that your student is in such good spirits. Hoping that the 2nd surgery really helps him to!

@pilotswifey - Hold on to those memories. They'll be something really special to share with your kiddos as they get older. Hugs to you.

  • Welcome back @SarahDarah333 !!! glad youre doing well. I feel you on the concentration front, it was really bad for me about month or two ago. i dont know what was going on, i couldnt concentrate on a dang thing. I am feeling a little more centered for the moment, thankfully.

@pilotswifey so sorry to hear youre going through this pregnancy without your momma. Remember she still sees LO and is sooo happy for you. :)

RE Nips: my areolas are slightly larger and a tiny bit darker. Have more freckles too. my Nips are about the same size as Pre-preg. Big question mark if that will change a little later on...

on another note, Nick Jonas's new album is on spotify and i have to say i really love it.
  • *IMPORTANT BABY NAME QUESTION*

We are moving towards settling on Nina for a girl. We wil want a one syllable middle name. I have always been a fan of the name Fay. (It is also a family name.)

Question: Does Nina Fay sound fucking ridiculous? (Because it is one letter off from being "Tina Fay"?)

If my MIL says one more time how big I'm getting (today it was "You're getting really big!" -- she last saw me less than a week ago, so it's not like it's been a long time and she's amazed by the difference), I'm going to lose it.

Everyone else comments on how small I look and then there's her.  I know she's not trying to hurt my feelings, but she is.  She never says anything to or about DH's cousin who's measuring a couple weeks ahead (she has GD).  I'm on track for my weight gain (on the lighter end of where I should be, actually).

DH has said he's going to talk to her, but I'm at the end of my rope.  She almost always waits until he's out of earshot or out of the room to say it, too, which doesn't feel coincidental, even if it is.

  • @MojieJo - Ugh. I'm sorry. I'm convinced that people are completly tactless when it comes to pregnancy, especially MILs. When I was pregnant with Bert & Elle, I showed my MIL a picture in my camera and she decided to just browse through other pictures that were on there. She found a picture of me at 15 weeks (I was starting to show, definitely not the same size as before I got pregnant and I was turned to the side for a belly pic on top of it) and she says, "Oh this must be a picture of you pre-pregnancy". No bitch, that was last week. For what it's worth, I think you look awesome in your bump into! And obviously at 5 pounds of baby, you're doing well!

@mamadomino - If my DH were acting that way, I'd be angry too. Moving tine is no time to screw around! Hoping he shapes up asap!!

I swear people lose whatever filter and sense they've got when dealing with pregnant women.  It gives them an instant, severe case of foot in mouth.

I would straight up tell you that you are having weight issues and it would make you feel better if she doesn't comment about it and that you know she means well.

My mom comments a few times that my belly was getting big. To her I know she thinks I look great and that she is just excited to see me grow but to me it sounds like she is calling me a whale. I just told her I am having a hard time with handling the weight gain and would just feel better if she didn't mention it at all, that was over a month ago and she never says anything anymore. I just made it seem like it was more MY issue then her doing something wrong.

  • @lovelylauren86 happy anniversary! You look lovely.

@Cricket Bug I think I have DH convinced on Asher! Now the middle name game
    starts :confounded:

I have been working on my Father's Day book for DH this whole day, and it's driving me crazy! Opinions... Should I include the new baby in the book? It has a pic, handprint, drawing and questionaire for each of the kids... But I adapt it for each. Such as, my 2yo doesn't do a questionaire. All I have to include is an old u/s pic. Thoughts?

  • VENT AHEAD:

Of course I am in super nesting mode and we were given some extra money so I am putting it into things I want around the house. first I LOVE doing house projects, plumbing, electrical, building things, you name it I'm down. DH helps a lot but he doesn't really LIKE to do it. The problem is that NOTHING ever goes right at first.

1st got a new utility sink and of course the pipes and water lines were too short so back to home depot. We sampled 6 colors before we picked out a baby room color. I got an automatic pool cleaner to help us out but since our pool had so much crap at the bottom it kept getting stuck/clogged which made DH angry and I tried to explain that if it is just used to maintenance instead of catching up it should be fine. AND THEN we got an awesome programmable wifi thermostat and after we installed it, it kept pumping out HOT HOT air, we finally got the right settings after a call to customer service. The new bed we ordered doesn't come till Monday and I really wish it was here now becuase I am exhausted!

TL;DR- Why can no home project go right the first time????

Edit: Feeling like I got a bit too personal and over-shared and now I'm paranoid.

So, umm...my random is that I think I may be the only Bumper unaffected by all of these pictures of desserts that keep getting posted.  They do nothing for me.  I'm apparently not human. :no_mouth:
